Am I the only one thinking Barcola is coming in to play on the right if he signs? Could be like the time we signed Mane to play on the right then when Salah came in he moved left. Maybe we are only signing 1 winger and he plays right, if Gakpo leaves this window or next summer maybe we get another right winger and he will move over then.

He has played a lot from right wing for PSG.

19 Jul 2026 18:10:37
Could be DW. People saying he's a left winger, so we don't need him, have obviously never played the game and don't know how easy it is to move from left to right wing.

Back in the day, wingers would swap over 3 or 4 times a game. It's not that big a deal.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 18:22:41
He can play both sides, but is predominantly a LW. That's his preferred side and the side he's most effective on. Pretty much all the wingers we've been linked with are capable on both flanks; this is something Iraola is keen on, and not an indicator of where a target will end up playing.

Contrary to what some people seem to think, we are not looking for just 1 winger, and Munoz has not been brought in as a starter. We are still looking to sign 2 proper senior wingers.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 19:30:17
Do you think two wingers only come in if we sell Gakpo?

Agree0

19 Jul 2026 20:27:32
Yes, if we signed two and left Gakpo go, we would have Rio, Munoz, Elliot, maybe Chiesa, plus the other two, so that makes 6 wingers plus Isak and Danns (didn't mention Ekitike as I am not considering him for this season).

Agree0

19 Jul 2026 21:19:59
Danns is a striker, Elliot is an attacking mid, and let's be real, Chiesa is washed. We have 3 wingers, technically. One will be used as backup for Isak (if he stays), one's a 17 yr old kid and the other's a 23yr old who has only had 1 season of top flight football under his belt. We are very much in need of 2 highly capable senior wingers.

Yes, Danns, Elliot and Chiesa can play on the wing, but let's be honest, if they're regular features out wide, we're in big trouble, and won't be challenging for anything.

Danns is coming back from serious injury, 10 months out with his back and repeat hamstring tears, Elliot was overrated tbh and the only wing he's seen in the last 12 months was of the chicken variety, and a lot of them, and every time Chiesa gets on the pitch he looks rustier than a nun's bedsprings.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 15:44:43
Toney is looking for Everton move.

19 Jul 2026 16:17:51
Match made in heaven, sorry meant Devon.

Agree5

20 Jul 2026 00:39:36
Now that's more like it. I actually think he might do a good job for Everton.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 14:40:54
Without sounding impatient ….

But it’s the 19th July.

Surely the board need to produce Iraoloa with players no in pre season which ultimately helps him.

I do find it really bizarre whether there’s a World Cup or not before it after it. I think the process is inefficient and I don’t get what they are doing.

I don’t care who they wanna get. I’m just talking about filling those holes as quickly as possible otherwise what have u been doing since Jan.

This club is bizarre when it comes to transfers.

19 Jul 2026 15:08:40
Squad and coaches fly out to America tomorrow with first game next Saturday.

League season doesn't start for another 5 weeks though.

Agree4

19 Jul 2026 15:10:10
You remember the Rodgers era? Just signing players because you can?

It gets you nowhere.

We are targeting top, top players, it takes time and you are more likely to fail. That doesn't mean it's not the right way to go though.

Agree4

19 Jul 2026 15:26:26
I'd expect the next couple weeks to be very busy, wouldn't worry about it.

Agree7

19 Jul 2026 15:29:22
Not many teams have signed players and we have signed 2 players so far, though I know one was agreed in Jan.

The transfer window always starts slow during a major tournament, I am sure, from tomorrow onwards, we'll start hearing and seeing more movement.

Agree5

19 Jul 2026 15:39:15
If it's true and we're looking to sign Barcola. He's literally just starting 3 weeks hols so signing him now doesn't affect pre-season.

It'll be similar for people who went out a round or 2 ago.

Agree4

19 Jul 2026 15:55:43
Post Klopp... chill out... we have to get the right players, not any players.

Agree5

19 Jul 2026 18:05:01
Filling holes as quickly as possible and not caring about who you get to do it won't ultimately help anyone though.

Agree4

19 Jul 2026 18:09:46
I remember we kept saying that in the summer of 24, Chewy. 😅

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 18:36:58
It does sound a little impatient.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 19:12:45
Did the manager not say "we need players and the club are working on it"? Did he not say that? So maybe relax?

Agree0

19 Jul 2026 12:53:38
With AI being fluent in Spanish, as is Victor, considering that Hugo is out til Jan. and Isaac probably won’t, Nunez would be a good free stop-gap with no language problems and no Slot issues. Value should increase; sell in Jan makes sense with the current ridiculous over-inflated prices and lack of available players.

19 Jul 2026 13:13:23
What does it say to players joining us if we buy someone only to sell them 6 months later? Would he agree to go? Would another club agree to buy him and pay his wages? It's not as simple as buying someone then expecting it to be easy to get rid of them 6 months later when they are no longer useful to us.

Agree6

19 Jul 2026 13:13:42
Not a good sell to Darwin though. Come in for 6 months and then on your bike.

Agree5

19 Jul 2026 13:25:24
What has speaking Spanish got to do with anything?

Agree9

19 Jul 2026 13:29:05
I think we need to realise that we are dealing with real human beings with their own lives and expectations instead of a simulation on a video game.

Agree13

19 Jul 2026 13:38:53
I think the 6 month shout is to appease the fans who don't want Nunez back. Unlike me, I'd pick him up at the airport.

Agree5

19 Jul 2026 13:52:04
Nunez barely spoke a word of English, so a Spanish coach would, in theory, be much better for him. But I doubt we will go back to Nunez.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 14:00:50
Way too much FIFA been played.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 14:02:28
Maybe Nunez still has the same issues that he had under Klopp and in Saudi.

The club won't sign a player for six months to appease the fans.

Agree3

19 Jul 2026 14:20:24
Nunez was here for 3 years. I assume he speaks at least good English as a result. If he doesn't, then I'd question his commitment.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 14:58:51
There's a reason why we got rid of Nunez.
Because he doesn't know the offside rule and he's not very good.

Agree5

19 Jul 2026 15:13:26
Too much Champ, man, I think.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 15:58:15
AI fluent in Spanish, who'd have thought that, eh.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 17:09:27
Need to stop this fascination with bringing explayers back.
He wasn't good enough and by all accounts is even worse now.
Rather bring someone like Wright through, I think he will be one to kick on this season.

Agree0

19 Jul 2026 18:10:59
Think he has the odd word, Something Red, and that's about it.

Agree0

19 Jul 2026 18:26:50
There's a RB who's fallen out of favor in Madrid, terrible defender but very good on the ball, he's also fluent in Spanish.

Agree3

19 Jul 2026 18:41:35
AI is fluent in every language, I suppose it depends on which LLM you use though.

Agree2

20 Jul 2026 00:43:27
I'd be happy to pick him up at the airport too, @Scouse John. Think I'd take him to a different destination than you though.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 11:37:30
Watching Konate in first half for France last night made me feel even more positive about the new season.

AI's comments on bringing back the Anfield magic also exciting.

A few more signings in key positions (RB, CDM & W) and we'll be ready to go.

Roll on new season. YNWA.

19 Jul 2026 12:34:17
Gotta say, he had some terrific games for us, but also some nightmares. He was the kind of player that was incapable of having a steady 6 or 7; he was either a 9 or a 2.

Probably his stand out performance was when he got man of the match in CL final v Real, and UEFA mistakenly gave the award to Courtois.

Agree6

19 Jul 2026 12:55:44
Yeh, was super in that game in fairness.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 12:56:59
Agreed. More 2s than 9s in recent seasons though.

Agree3

19 Jul 2026 13:52:54
Upemachano is twice the player Konate is and it showed yesterday.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 14:03:28
Upamachano was garbage yesterday.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 14:22:53
Upemacano was garbage, but Konate was worse, which is why he was hooked at half time.

I honestly don't know what's happened to him. He has become an absolute liability after improving season on season up until last year.

He always had a bad moment in him, but now he looks like he's got no idea how to play the game.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 14:24:06
Terrible player Konate. Always was.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 14:37:30
Thought Lacroix (Crystal Palace) and his defensive partner were mediocre too. He's on the verge of joining Alonso today, both never won a tackle between them, Lacroix played the 90 mins.

Rogers and Lacroix going to Chelsea makes me even more confident that we have the best Basque manager in the PL for the many seasons to come.

"Dick" Emery, the Aston Villa manager, reportedly wants Gakpo to replace Rogers for circa £50 Million. Bournemouth signed a Spanish forward last week, Alvaro Rodriguez. Does that suggest one forward is leaving Bournemouth, one of either El Kroupi or Rayan?

Agree0

19 Jul 2026 14:38:09
Upmechano is the reason France scored 2 of their 4 goals! He was not garbage under the circumstances compared to Konate!

Agree3

19 Jul 2026 15:30:33
Great player Koate, should have been put him on half a mil per week to tie him down.

Seriously though, he was an absolute donkey of a thing on even a good day, watching him was like playing Buckaroo, he had the potential to kick off and do something unhinged at any moment, glad to see the back of him.

Agree2

20 Jul 2026 00:45:33
I think Konate is a 'confidence' player. If something gets to him it seems to knock him right off his stride. It's a shame because I think there is a footballer in there somewhere.

Agree0

19 Jul 2026 11:25:26
Mukiele Sorry fat fingers.

19 Jul 2026 11:09:07
Does anyone know when the likes of Vvd, Wirtz are back in training?

19 Jul 2026 12:20:15
Apparently all World Cup players will get a minimum 3 week break.

One podcast said that Dutch players and Wirtz return half way through the week after the squad go to US on tour.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 12:28:21
Wirtz tomorrow and the Dutch contingent on Tuesday.

Agree2

19 Jul 2026 14:49:42
Pity they never followed Harvey Elliot and reported back a full week earlier, especially having had a full season off under Arne Slot, and especially one being the current LFC club captain?

What a fillip and example to the current players and academy players that would have been for the whole club and the new manager/staff to come back a week earlier, showing that last season was hopefully a one off never to happen again?

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 15:29:28
Agree 007, I'm super annoyed Macca is choosing to play in a World Cup final tonight rather than come back for a cheeky lactate test.

Agree4

19 Jul 2026 15:32:28
Elliot should have reported back on the 25th of May. Chap looks like he's been on the Hagen-Das diet.

Agree0

19 Jul 2026 16:38:22
Are we looking at the same player? I've looked through most of the training photos and Elliott does not look overweight in the slightest.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 18:11:44
Chewy was looking at pictures of Fred Elliott.
Fred Elliott, I say.

Agree3

19 Jul 2026 10:58:00
We probably should be really looking into buying Said El Mala of Koln. Another 19-year-old, and scored 13 goals and five assists in Germany last season.

Dortmund, Brighton, Newcastle are reported to be very interested so would be cheaper for us to buy him now than paying one of these 100m+ in a year's time. 🤣🤣🤣

19 Jul 2026 13:20:02
He's been mentioned over a month ago by myself and others.

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 15:32:56
Winger doing well in the Bundesliga, you say. 🤔

Agree1

19 Jul 2026 10:41:10
Welcome back Ned. Glad you are back into the swing of things. YNWA.
