Ed001, do you what has been happening with Malick Fofana this season? He seemed to be keen on a move to us and was seen as a decent value LW option if we spend the bulk of our chips on Diomande?

If he's excelled, great, but Lyon have probably put his price up!

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate, no idea, I haven't really followed much French football this season.}

22 Apr 2026 22:31:12
He's played 5 minutes in the league since October.

Agree2

22 Apr 2026 22:43:54
hes been injured and been in and out of the team so he ruined his momentum.

Agree3

23 Apr 2026 07:23:11
We've moved on from him obviously. I don't know even if we were ever interested. He was. Don't think it was reciprocal.

Agree0

23 Apr 2026 09:15:07
Been injured since the early part of the season and before that was not even a starter.
He is not an option for the Liverpool left side.

Why Slot Feels Wrong for Liverpool

22 Apr 2026 21:09:33
{Ed's Note - Kloppo05 has posted a new article entitled, Why Slot Feels Wrong for Liverpool

23 Apr 2026 02:13:04
Great article, love the last line (not sure if that was you or Ed033 flexing his AI muscles!).

I take umbridge at equating people who work on spreadsheets as being "grey" - being passionate can coexist with that line of work - but other than that, sums up my feelings perfectly!

Well written 05, that's the Liverpool unfortunately I'm watching too.

One thing I don't understand with the arguement of Slot is now staying is why didn't they help him in the January window for Semenyo and Guehi. Why didn't they allow Heitinga back if it's true Arne wanted him?

Personally, if Slot wants to leave then Iraola for me is the best choice.

Plays the style we like, has worked with Hughes, and has Prem experience. Only snag is the rumour his family haven't settled, so may go home.

If Slot decided to stay for one more season then Enrique's deal ends in 2027 so we could try and tempt him.

23 Apr 2026 00:07:43
Keegan - Who knows the real truth about Semenyo, Guehi and Heitenga. But I think it is totally fair to include the lack of synergy between recruitment and Coach in the overall assessment of this season.

No, default-setting Slot haters, that doesn't absolve Slot of responsibility or accountability. I am just interested in the overall picture and how it has all come together in this way.

If true that Slot wanted to bring Heitenga back, then shows to me that Slot does have a sense for what the team needs including in his coaching group. By all accounts Heitenga was the player's coach and I would assess that Slot knows very well how he and Heitenga balance each other out

I think the management team are playing with fire.

The reality is that this season has been dire, and the rot started at the back end of last season with the very poor football being played since February last season. I suspect we were lucky we had such a good lead up to Xmas and that key adversaries also had poor seasons, that we got away with it.

If the management team are even remotely considering keeping Slot, then they really do not understand the level of discontent that is out there relating to how poor Slot and his coaching team have performed with this group of players. In my opinion, the tactics and strategy of the team has been abysmal. The preparation of the team in terms of fitness is the worst I have seen for over a decade.

And every week appears to make it worse. To coin a phrase, we are miles off it in terms of performance, fitness and style of play when compared to Klopp's core team.

I am saddened by the direction of the club at the moment, especially when it appears that Alonso is now unlikely to happen. There are of course other managers out there, but not a great deal of proven quality by the looks of it. I sense that there is a good chance that all the good done by Klopp over the last 10 years is going to be diminished quickly by people that now look like they are not qualified for the role! Time will tell I guess, but I am not looking forward to the ride.

I hope I am proven wrong.

22 Apr 2026 21:46:20
Nice post Cons,

agree fully the season has been a totally inflicted self made Slot disaster from start (losing the community shield final, to finally limping to the finish now), and posters want Slot to stay?

I could not name anything he has got right this season can they?

Nine defeats in 12 games early doors says it all. Every dog has its day, Slot has had his first season fluke, time for a new direction and purpose and new manager.

Agree4

23 Apr 2026 00:09:23
probably lucky that Arsenal and City have had their adversary is having a poor season

Agree0

23 Apr 2026 06:43:56
Guardiola had 9 defeats in 12 games last season.Could win a domestic treble this season.Im sure City are glad they kept faith as Pep looked a bit lost last season getting spanked by his rivals.

Agree1

23 Apr 2026 07:16:48
But we were crap at the backend of the the title winning season so what on earth is Heitinga going to do.

Agree1

23 Apr 2026 07:19:05
Fair play to Pep if City somehow manage to win the title this season.

Winning 7 titles in 9 years in apparently the most competitive league in the world is some feat.

Agree2

23 Apr 2026 08:25:27
We'd one league defeat up to April 6th last year though. The league was practically won by then.

As the fitness levels dropped so did performances and results

Well that’s Chelsea looking for another manager. This summer’s manager merry go round will be interesting to see who ends up where.
If (as we all seriously hope) Slot is leaving the club, better not dawdle because otherwise a lot of the top talent could be nabbed by others.
Identity who’s top candidate & be quick & get it done.

22 Apr 2026 18:47:53
You are right, but i don't have faith in this management group to get it done.

Agree6

23 Apr 2026 00:10:19
how's that new manager bump going

Agree0

22 Apr 2026 17:58:28
Rosenior sacked!

Let's start praying to the gods above they think Slot is their man!!!!

He says in a light-hearted manner.

22 Apr 2026 18:48:47
I thought he'd get at least 1 year of his 6 year contract.

Agree3

23 Apr 2026 10:51:08
If we were like any other club, we'd be 4 mangers deep this season already

I often wonder what life would be like if we didn't have FSG as owners. The annual merry go round would be intriguing I guess.

Agree0

22 Apr 2026 17:48:09
So that’s us, Chelsea, United, Real Madrid, City, possibly PSG, possibly Arsenal if they win nothing again, all looking for a new manager in the summer. Going to be an interesting few months that’s for sure.

22 Apr 2026 18:31:28
There's a fair few possibles there, Jimble, with us being one of them.

Agree2

22 Apr 2026 20:04:25
It's only really Chelsea (today), ManU (although it's going to be tough to move on from Carrick now) and Madrid (annually).

PSG, Liverpool and Arsenal is just speculation at the moment.

Agree2

22 Apr 2026 20:10:25
We aren't looking for a manager.

Agree2

22 Apr 2026 20:12:03
Arsenal won't sack Arteta, I read earlier Enrique is about to sign a new contract at PSG, although I'd love him here I'd imagine he stays at least one more season.

I do hope we replace Slot though but if it's not going to be Alonso there isn't a whole lot of options

Agree1

22 Apr 2026 21:31:59
Said it months ago, Arsenal aren't winning rubbish, but they won't be sacking Arteta either.

Agree2

22 Apr 2026 17:15:57.
I get the frustration. Results haven’t been where we want them this season and expectations at Liverpool are always high, but it’s worth taking a step back before calling for Slot to go.

He’s already won the Premier League, which puts him as one of only 11 managers to do it in the last 20 years. You don’t get into that group by accident.

You also have to look at the context around this season. We’ve had a lot going on. The tragic death of Jota, new signings not really having the impact we hoped, whether that’s adapting or injuries, Isak being a good example.

And just look at this season, how difficult it’s being made to look to win the league. All the noise about him winning it with Klopp’s team is nonsense. Klopp didn’t win it with that side either.

Even the best managers have off seasons.

Klopp did, Guardiola has had dips, Wenger went years without a title. One bad season doesn’t suddenly mean they’re not good enough.

If we sack him now, we’re basically starting again. New manager, new ideas, likely disruption in the dressing room and another rebuild.

For me, continuity matters, especially when the manager has already shown he can deliver. It makes more sense to back him, fix the issues in the squad and go again.

This season has highlighted a few flaws, but given what he’s done, I would much rather give it another go with Slot than throw it away.

Xabi Alonso is a gamble. A legend, but still a gamble. Is it really worth throwing away a manager who has proven he can win after so many others have tried and failed for us?

22 Apr 2026 17:42:51
Give it another go?
We are second to Chelsea when it comes to being outrun by the opposition I think it's 28 games out of 33

He alienates players Chiesa jones quansah Elliott or Endo Salah
His tactics all season have been crap
Salah will score a ton next season and u will see it's a tactical thing slot deployed

He hasn't got the best out of any player this season
He completely conceded against psg
He was convinced we would lose and he made sure Salah and Rio didn't play or jones or Roberson out most experienced
He was happy to lose 2-0 psg are 1 time champions i'm sorry but rio ekitike Salah would have troubled psg an jones grav an szbos would have been a solid midfield

He then said again at least . It was only 2-0 in the second leg. didn't play Salah a rio again played Isak the whole world knows he needs to build up instead of throwing him in like that. why?? because he didn't think we would win and he "focused" on the league. how dare he - this is a major football club you're supposed to try!!

I could list even more issues

Slot is a terrible terrible choice to stay on he killed this team and will continue

Agree13

22 Apr 2026 17:47:13
What a load of whiny, hand wringing, condescending, sanctimonious word salad.

Slot has repeatedly shown he simply isn't up to the job. The poor tactics, the lack of fitness, the inability to organise a midfield and defence. All of that is on him, it's not going to change either. This team and how it plays is a reflection of him.

Sticking with him next season will likely get us into the bottom half of the table. Take those flukey wins from the start of the season out and we'd be relegation fodder.

Agree13

22 Apr 2026 17:48:27
We have taken too many steps back with slot, players don't want him by the looks of it majority of fans don't either, football is dross and we've lost 17 or 18 games this season!

Agree6

22 Apr 2026 17:49:01
6 times European champions. Most decorated club in the country. Cannot be playing this type of negative football.

There's a level of responsibility when you represent that badge and try to win every single match. We've not done that this season. He's got to go

Agree12

22 Apr 2026 17:52:35
why give him another season his style of football is boring and unwatchable last 14 months have been shocking

Agree10

22 Apr 2026 17:53:03
Yes. Bin him.

He has shown he is incapable for a much longer period that he showed he was capable.

From Aug to Jan. his tatical changes were spot on. We would manage games. and yes this would mean slowing the game down at certain points.

Jan - May. the cracks were starting to appear but got written off as let's face it. we were going to win the league.

This season has been a shambles from the get go and is getting worse. We are playing slower football. the changes are more desperate than tatical.

No cohesion between him players and fans

His constant trips back, lack of training. lack of youth. just general lack of quality all round.

And to make it worse. tell me one player that doesn't thrive on international duty. where let's face it. International football is slower than PL.

He needs to go at the very least. If the suits followed that would be a bonus.

Agree6

22 Apr 2026 17:55:43
Worse than the results is our terrible performances.

If anything, the results have been fantastic when you consider how crap we are playing.

I really hope Slot goes at end of the season.

Agree9

22 Apr 2026 17:56:20
It's nothing to do with the results it's all down to the performance's the shocking levels of fitness the team has shown, the training being so bad that nearly every player looks washed up. These are not accidents they can all be traced back to one man and that's not to mention how he threats squad players and young players he draines them of all confidence.

Lastly a good manager would have utilized the passing of Jota to drive to team on to win something in his memory not hide behind his passing

Agree8

22 Apr 2026 18:16:22
Summer is going to be fun on here when the penny drops that Slot is going nowhere.

Agree5

22 Apr 2026 18:18:21
Another contributing factor to this season which doesn't get mentioned is the trophy parade, from high to low with what happened that day.

Agree2

22 Apr 2026 18:18:23
The simplest answer is no and I really don't like when Slot defender and the media keep using the tragic death of Jota as an excuse for unacceptable performance by the manager and the players. Its a disgrace to use the death of Jota to defend Slot.

Agree5

22 Apr 2026 18:49:25
My view all along has been CL qualification by any means & he was going to get another crack next season! That was his remit in the "transition" season.

Failure to qualify & they would / will pull the plug but Chelsea's demise has probably put us in pole position for CL and bar a major hiccup we'll get it - win on the weekend virtually nails it?

Not my choice I might add but that's how I see it panning out

Agree0

22 Apr 2026 22:12:22
It's not Slot going nowhere next season?

It's Liverpool Football Club going nowhere next season!

If he's one of the best eleven managers, how come not one PL club will have him next year, a £450 million transfer investment and we have gone backwards cannot continue, I am all for "who dares wins" if ye don't buy a raffle ticket ye never win the jackpot, sitting on the fence gets you nowhere, sh!t or bust (complete success/total failure again) with a new manager for me.

Personally my wanting him gone is not based on results its the awful football the lack of fitness of the squad where teams playing the "low block" even outrun Liverpool plus the part time attitude he has giving players time off so he can jet back to Holland
This year is not a blip the first year was
