{Ed's Note - Zeddicus has posted a new article entitled, From Rush to Slot: A Supporter’s Breaking Point

Thanks Eds! Lovely rework too, much better than the original 👍😂

Reminds me of myself, Zeddicus, a 12yr old fanatic watching the 84 cup final with my Liverpool mug that my dad had brought me back from the Isle of Man of all places earlier that year full of milk, a matching miniature commerative panel /flag and key ring even though I didn't possess any keys as you didn't need to lock your doors in those days, different times but brilliant times as a kid apart from witnessing the likes of Heysel and of course Hillsborough and trying to understand them as a nieve teenager. All the good times and more so a lot of bad times as you said, with the sprinkling of the odd trophy here and there waiting for the messiah that was Klopp to bring us back out of the wilderness and back like the force that we were in the late 70's and 80's, only for a fraud of a manager to win a league on the strength of Klopp's legacy and then show his true colours and how inept he really is as a manager.
I for one wanted him out after the Forest and Fenynoord (excuse spelling) games as we were already in decline in my view from the cup final loss to Newcastle earlier last year and for the remainder of the title winning season. I for one do not want to go back to the dark days of waiting 30yrs plus for a league title as I'll be long dead by then I'd imagine. But that's exactly what will happen if Slot, Edwards and Hughes are allowed to stay at the club for any longer than the end of this season as collectively they are destroying everything that Klopp and FSG built. I want Slot gone as we won't make top 5 with him in charge, but my biggest fear is that he will be protected by messers Edwards and Hughes until the end of the season when we will have finished 7th or 8th in what has been one of the most depressing seasons I can remember as a fan following my beloved club for over 40+ yrs.

Love this, Zed.
Two take-outs for me are your comment about going 0-1 down to the blue noses. That used to be something we didn't bat an eyelid over: now we might as well pack up and go home, but this is a very recent thing.
My in-laws are long term Norwich season ticket holders, so have seen a lot more of the lows that we have. Look at what Clement has achieved there since he arrived a third of the way through this season.
We just need the balls to admit the current project has run its course and re-energise the current squad, plus two or three clever additions.
Clement has achieved Norwich's meteoric rise through a couple of canny buys plus some gentle turd polishing around the fringes of the squad. This sounds a plan for us.

Romano putting out a rumour. Not sure how accurate he is, and also various rumours on newsnow that FSG have at no stage considered sacking Slot. In fact they have faith in Slot and look to his imput for how to move forward next season in a team revamp. Now I know this might be a rumour based around old news.
My opinion is there's no way Slot can survive; the fans have turned and I sense a few more damaging defeats and the players will publicly turn on him. His position is technically untenable. FSG potentially backing him seem a very naieve move.
09 Apr 2026 22:14:05
If that was true, FSG cannot and will not fight the fans, as they know they would lose massively, just my opinion.
I get the feeling around 75% of LFC fan base want Slot gone. If you're the owner of a club, would you really go against the fans' wishes?

I'm not a big fan of knee jerk sackings, so I was relatively happy with Slot staying even when we went on that long run of defeats before Xmas, but... the poor performances have gone on way too long now, and there is zero excuse for how unfit the players obviously are. His time is up now for me.

There'll be no hiding place on Wednesday when PSG inevitably beat us at Anfield next week.

The concerning thing is that we are losing games due to small, basic details. Team shape, throw ins, set pieces, tracking runners, communication.
These are all basics that should be drummed into players day in, day out.
When the fixture schedule is so busy, I get that you can't drive the players too hard in training because they need to recover and be ready to go again in 3 days, so the main things you coach are the not so physical aspects like team shape in and out of possession, set pieces, throw ins, communication.
We are obviously not doing any of this because the players look totally lost. There's literally no team shape or connections. We got ripped open 3 times against PSG from a throw in! We are too far apart out of possession, which is why, when we press high, they could just play around us.
It's almost as if they are not being coached at all and he's just shoving them on the pitch and telling them to work it out for themselves.

FSG may not have considered sacking Arne, that's Richard Hughes' job. If the director isn't trusted, then I guess it would get taken out of his hands, but they must have full confidence in him and Edwards. I agree with Bazzinga, though the fans just need to turn on the board and it's all over.

10 Apr 2026 10:43:49
Exactly, Overkill. FSG did not hire Slot. Hughes did, and why would these journos mention FSG specifically, and not the guys who are actually tasked with evaluating Slot as their direct employee?
We know FSG do not handle the day to day operations of the club (Billy Hogan does that) nor do they decide who to sign as players/manager (that's Hughes' job).
Suddenly they have a say on who should be kept as manager/player? Okay, bro.
I propose people just ignore all this crap (and Romano spreads crap anyway) and just wait for the season to end. Then, we will all be here to see what happens. Anything else from any journo is white noise, at this point.

Sad to hear about Robbo, a guy who worked his bollocks of to get to the top of the tree. These young lads demanding big contracts at 16/17 take note. All the best Robbo you served the club with great distinction and left everything on the field. You'll always be a Liverpool legend.
10 Apr 2026 09:38:03
If 75% of Liverpool fans want Slot gone, and I, for one, most certainly do, for countless reasons.
If FSG won't budge on the matter. There is only one protest that will have an effect.
Don't go to a couple of matches. Large empty areas of Anfield will soon focus the minds of FSG.
There can only be another explanation for FSG's behaviour: They are in negotiations to sell the club.

Nothing sad about it. Time is undefeated, and the world goes on. What I am happy about is that Robbo played his heart out for the club on and off it. A true legend (one of the best to ever do it at LB at the club and PL), a true leader who stood up, always spoke his mind, and never shirked responsibility during bad times.
Those are what I choose to remember about his time with us.
Good luck, Robbo lad. Don't be a stranger, btw. Peace.

I always enjoy reading the posts on this site and the opinions. One thing, though, is just how gullible people are when it comes to the ITKs. Go back and read some of these posts, and you will discover hardly any actually happen.
The rest are best guesses that sometimes do. I enjoy a good rumour, but that's what they are: a rumour. Slot may go, or foolishly stay; either way, only those making the decision know.
09 Apr 2026 22:00:12

Liverpool push as price and context shift
According to RTI Esporte, Wolverhampton Wanderers initially set a £60m (€70m) asking price for Gomes. That figure is not expected to hold.
Wolves sit bottom of the Premier League. Relegation would force a rethink. As a result, the final fee could drop to around £40m-£45m (€47m-€53m).
That potential discount changes everything.
It brings Gomes firmly into Liverpool and Manchester United’s range for a starting-level midfielder rather than a long-term project.
Importantly, the same report states Liverpool are leading the race. As the story put it, Liverpool is “a destination that appeals to Joao Gomes, who has reportedly already expressed interest in playing for the club”.
09 Apr 2026 22:01:48
40 to 45 seems like a solid investment for Gomes. I'll take that.

Exactly, SlotSlitShatShot. Notice that no one has said that Slot will be here next season. I ain't seen that anywhere (sorry, I don't have the Twatter and never will). If he is, then where is his contract extension? Let me know when that gets announced.
People keep saying 'Slot is staying' BUT never say till when.
If people think he is getting sacked before the season, then that's on them, cos I knew it would never happen and still won't.
Wait till the end of the season and then, we will all be here to see the sparks fly.

Rumours that Arsenal are open to selling Ethan Ewaneri in the summer.
Personally I think this kid could have a great future. He's fast, left footed, skillful. He needs a bit more strength on the ball but he'll get that, he's still only 19.
Might be worth a cheeky bid to fill our hole on the right wing.
09 Apr 2026 20:51:03
We've got our own young winger that has all the tools to be World Class one day and he can't get a kick in a failing team that loses every week.
Agree9
09 Apr 2026 20:55:56
Meant Nwaneri, typo error.
Rio is good, but he's very much right-footed. Nwaneri is left-footed.
I'm talking about next season, when Salah has gone.

09 Apr 2026 22:23:12
If we could get Nwaneri and Lewis Skelly for a combined £100m, as suggested by the BBC Sport article, I would bite their hands off.
Both still in their teens, HG, and versatile.
I'd play Lewis Skelly at CDM, with an option for LB depth, and develop Nwaneri into the new Mo (over time).
Given prices these days, why wouldn't we pay that for both potential and also EPL experience...?
Agree3
09 Apr 2026 22:23:53
BTW +1 for Rio left and Nwaneri right.
Agree4
09 Apr 2026 22:38:17
Lewis Skelley got hooked against Southampton in the cup. Would you really pay 100m for our 3rd choice LB and Nwanieri who can't get a game ahead of Saka and Madueke, or Odegaard and Eze?
I do rate them both, but 100m for two youth players who can't get a kick?!
Agree5
09 Apr 2026 22:46:54
100 mill for them 2 Arsenal subs, you've gotta be joking.
Agree8
09 Apr 2026 23:01:40
Coutinho was a teenage sub at Inter when we bought him. Things don't go smoothly when you're just breaking through.
Yes Couts cost £8m not £40-£50m, but that's prices for you and football inflation in the last 15 years.

10 Apr 2026 01:50:58
If we want a proper LB, then we should be after Hall from the Toon.
Agree9
10 Apr 2026 06:54:57
I wouldn't rate either. Lewis Skelly is all over the shop. He can't defend any better than the lads we have and is more liable to get booked than even Bradley. They can sell them elsewhere.

So that’s a right back and left back.
And some midfielders.
Some wingers.
I’m guessing no cbs as that’s handles per se.
I can’t see LFC doing all that.
As for Andy he gave everything and ran hard on all games and I love that effort mentality he had.
My God, we have a rough few seasons.
09 Apr 2026 20:49:13
This is a 3 season transition. We will therefore have to accept next season being rough like this one. Possibly the season after. Whoever is in charge of transfers will need to be very astute, as we can't have a team full of superstars so when we go in for players, some seem as mediocre, we need to be humble and remember the Greek Euro 2004 team who worked as a team.
We may buy unknown or players who we see playing elsewhere and not being 'at Liverpool level' but remembering when we bought Robbo nobody could have foresaw the lb he became for us.
These tough transition seasons (plural cos we need to keep it real) are when we as a club will need to back the team and the manager. Not Slot. I'm fully Slot out. But we need to be realistic about what is to come.

09 Apr 2026 21:03:03
Regards the CBs, assuming Konate signs, then I think we are ok in that area for next season. I would keep Gomez in the squad. A utility like him can be helpful, and there won't be as much reliance on him to play as our 5th or 5th CB. That assumes he is ok with that, and I get the feeling that he would be.
If Konate doesn't sign, which would be my preference, then we should be back in the market for an experienced CB.
Someone who would be the most realistic to take over VVD as the leader of the backline.
That could be Leoni or Jacquet. But for next season, those two should have to prioritize their return to full fitness and match preparation as a first team player in the Premier League. They don't need the pressure to also show that they are capable of stepping into VVD's role.
Agree2
09 Apr 2026 22:11:46
Blind faith in Gomez and Konate as CBs for next season is folly.

10 Apr 2026 08:56:39
Keeping Gomez as a 5th choice is fine. He can play across the backline.
If we move him on, are we going to spend 10 of millions on a 4th or 5th choice CB?

In our current setup, Millie will still run circles around our midfielders.
