Keegan was my hero growing up and this is more than a loss.
Knew it was coming for some time and you can never prepare.
I have met him several times and I need some time to gather my thoughts and pay my respects.

Will be taking a break. I hope we win the league and CL. Best wishes for o Iraola and the the team

Always a red YNWA. TC

Kevin Keegan was my hero growing up too. A massive loss. Standing on the Kop as a kid watching KK was my first taste of LFC live. Such an icon for my generation. KK God bless.

Really sad King Kev has left us. Never saw him play, but I knew a lot about him. Came off as a real footballer and genuinely nice guy.

RIP, King Kev. You will surely be missed.

A very sad day, great player who never stopped and gave everything he had.

Thanks for the memories, Kev.

I have a feeling we lose out on Barcola, we make a bid, it's accepted on second attempt, Arsenal come in and get the deal done. Even more horrible feeling we end up with Diomande, there's not a chance RBL decline that kind of money. Regardless of how rich they are.

Technically they are stratospheres apart and I can't see Diomande drastically improving technically which he needs to do, he's more of a Traore than a Mane.

I thought your doom and gloom posts always go to the Discussions page?

Could you change your name to Eeyore, please?

18

20 Jul 2026 19:07:28
Zed, or maybe Droopy?

1

20 Jul 2026 19:07:33
Would be rude to Eeyore. He's a bit more positive than Bob.

2

20 Jul 2026 19:28:51
Droopy?! Has Mrs Zed been peddling gossip?!

4

20 Jul 2026 21:02:15
Oh for crying out loud, Bob. Can't you just smile?

0

20 Jul 2026 21:22:57
MKS, Smiling can be a lot tougher when all you have is doom and gloom to share with the outside world.

Don't know Barcola at all obvs lol but I get the feels that he's a London type of guy.

Attention seekers will disappear if nobody engages with their posts.

I just went on the Arsenal rumours page to see if there were any links to them and Barcola or Rayan from any of their itk .I cannot believe how quiet the page is .which is probably just as well for the Ed's who are inundated here on Liverpool rumours

Because they are all on the Argentina page swapping ideas...

KK was my first proper Liverpool hero with magical performances in the 74 Cup Final and Rome 77, of course. And who could forget the bike crash on Superstars? Proper hard Northerner, despite the hair. RIP SuperKev.

Two-time European Player of the Year... Also, his honesty throughout his life as a manager, as to his capabilities and lack of ability at times, was refreshing and heartwarming. RIP Kev and thanks for being you.

As a young service engineer, I was called out to a call in North Wales, which was my patch, to repair a washing machine. Lovely white large bungalow. I knocked on the door and a nice lady with blonde hair opened it and invited me into the kitchen.

Well, blow me down, sitting at the table was Kevin. As a Liverpool fan, I was gob smacked, unable to speak. He even made me a cuppa tea. What a great couple. I remember it to this day. So sad. ynwa.

I used to get his autograph every home game. Standing outside the players' entrance after every game. What a lovely friendly man. He was my hero. Broke my heart when he left. I was at Wembley to watch him get sent off.

His song: Kevin Keagan walks on water nana nana nah na nan nan nah. One of the greats.

RIP KK

Didn't know him well as he was before my time. I do know a lot about him and what a guy; What a player and what a King he was at LFC.

Rest in Peace, Kev. You've run your race.

How apt our first game of the season is away to Newcastle, a 3-4 for old times sakes anyone? RIP Kevin Keegan.

21

20 Jul 2026 17:02:08
I didn't really know much about Keegan as he's well before my time, but nobody has a bad word to say about him, which, given he was in the public eye for over 50 years, probably says a lot about the man he was!

RIP Kevin Keegan.

20 Jul 2026 17:31:26
How fitting our first game away to Newcastle. what a wonderful atmosphere and show of appreciation from a sold out st James it will be for the man.

KK was way before my time, I find it strange he won European player of the year twice (not whilst at Liverpool) won 3 leage titles with us yet he doesn't make most people's all time 11. or doesn't get mentioned as much as Barnes Kenny Gerrard souness and the 80s crowd. is this just a timing and age of the supporters who would remember him?

I'm not trying to be ignorant to his contributions but I am curious.

Ed1 please feel free to not post if you feel it is in bad taste to ask the question.

RIP KK.

It's a fair question, Mr.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I suppose people of my age, who were kids in the 70s, he was our talisman. Never failed to perform on the biggest of games - 73 UEFA Cup final, 74 Cup semi, 74 Cup final, 76 away to Wolves, 76 UEFA Cup final, 77 European Cup final, he was all over these games & scored vital goals in most.
All-action player who never left an ounce on the pitch and a born winner.

Never had the natural skills of Kenny but he made up for all that in total effort, plus the fact he was vastly underrated as a finisher - pretty lethal in front of goal and just a fantastic team player.
I've no doubt he had a few poor games sprinkled in, but I can't remember seeing or hearing about any.
Again, for my age group Shanks loved him, which says everything!

Sad day. RIP KK.

Always remember him smacking Billy Bremner in the Charity Shield. Stood up for himself, right enough. Great player, great manager, great bloke.

Sincere condolences to family and friends.
