Right. Honestly some on here need to grow up.
It’s like has there been a collective bout of amnesia that I’ve somehow avoided?
2 games in and some are talking about panic. Already questioning the manager.
Have you forgotten the dirge of last season? The horrible football? Slot pissing off to Holland at every chance and an unfit squad with more days off than a school teacher.
Did you honestly think that Iraola would come in, wave a magic wand and we’d be back to Klopp era intensity already?
I hate the new breed of “fan”.
If it doesn’t happen instantaneously then I’m going to criticise everything.
If you want to vent then vent at the right people; ie the joke that is Hughes and some of the players that were bought that are not our standard. Sooner the better he’s gone.
I’m delighted we got Iraola.
Will he make mistakes and get things wrong? Absolutely. Here’s a lightning bolt of information. From Shanks to Klopp, they all did at times. But their brilliance shone through.
Give the guy a chance FFS.
Rant over.

29 Aug 2026 18:55:34 Completely agree, mate... The meltdown across social media is nothing shore of embarrassing.

29 Aug 2026 19:01:14 Have to admit, I needed to read that. I think we're all expecting magic Klopp era to come again. Slot and the lads that were above him have unfortunately destroyed what Klopp had built. I just hope the players buy into what Ireola is selling.

29 Aug 2026 19:07:04 No one is questioning AI and we've a right to moan!! The squad's short 5/6 players, stop giving it the good guy rose tinted glasses ball s***. The gaps are glaring in that team and nothing's been done. People thinking Barcola is gonna fix all this by himself would wanna wake up. If there's not another 2/3 players brought in before the deadline I'll stand at what I said that team's not getting top 6! And when I say more brought in I mean keeping CG too! They are bringing in players but the squad isn't getting any deeper or better. So take the rose tinted glasses off because what we saw there today was slow and no intensity. And the words "we won't ever see Sobo as a right back again" sound better and better. Could be long season or a very good one all to be decided in a few days!!!

29 Aug 2026 19:07:53 Iraola needs time, simple as that.
4
29 Aug 2026 19:10:16 Not questioning the manager myself. Needs to up the aggression from the players. Sort that useless midfield out. Grav is going walkabout and causing most of these issues. Get a rb in, a DM and a rw. Quickly. Camara is made for this setup.

29 Aug 2026 19:13:29 There's long term analysis and post-match analysis. On game day, there's obviously a lot of post-match reaction to the game just played and the performances in it.
Long term has a different picture. Far more positive in my view. Teething issues right now, although I do wish some would be further along. But better slow and steady progression than up and down performances. I have such faith in this manager. We'll be fine in the long run.

29 Aug 2026 19:15:50 I know a little club on the east coast of England, who would take Andoni faster than a shot? They stood right behind him after not winning any of their first 9 games, average home gates of 11,000, selling his best players every season, paid the lowest wages in the PL, took them to their highest ever PL finish, took them into Europe for their first time ever in history, he's unbeaten in 18 PL games, posters who berate him are not loyal LFC supporters.
YNWA Andoni ........

29 Aug 2026 19:17:32 Nice read but I disagree. Everyone should be able to throw their 2p in. Posts like this could discourage interaction.
All views are welcome here. Superfan or Doom and Gloomer.
Come and throw your post on, reply what you want, some of us like all views not just one narrative.
I'm a terrible fan, I've said that here a lot. I'm far from a new fan. But I'm a fair one. And if someone is questioning the manager already then I'm intrigued even if I don't agree.
Post away Reds. Even that new breed of terrible fans. 😂

29 Aug 2026 19:18:29 Rose tinted glasses, Jay Dub Red? Sorry, mate, but I've been a Liverpool fan since I was 7 in 1979 and I've been on this site since I found it around the time Kenny was manager for the 2nd time. And it occurs to me that I've yet to see a single positive post from you. Correct me if I'm wrong????

29 Aug 2026 19:38:19 Too many can't contain their entitlement and petulance, so spill constant hyperbole on to the internet.
29 Aug 2026 18:43:03
I honestly think that IA playing Szobo at RB was him sending a message to Hughes and co...
Why didn't he just play Araujo at RB? Wasn't he bought as a RB alternative?
Maybe J Spence wasn't such a bad shout after all...
1
29 Aug 2026 19:02:16 Honestly, Szoboszlai's best position is probably right back. I don't see what he offers as part of a midfield two.
2
29 Aug 2026 19:11:23
Exactly - he is not disciplined enough to play CM and his talents are best served from
the right. I think neither Grav or Dom
would
be Andonis picks as purchases.
Now we are going to see the knock
on effects of disparate buying, born from having different agendas and no cohesion at board level. The sale of the club is coming at
the right time.

29 Aug 2026 19:12:10
Thought the same, mate... Can't keep throwing Szob there. Grav and Macca aren't good enough and need upgrading in future windows, but we need a dedicated rw, rb and DM quickly.
0
29 Aug 2026 19:13:44 He's probably the perfect Trent replacement, I'd play him there. Some of the most decorated Liverpool players played rb.
0
29 Aug 2026 19:15:08 He definitely can't play in a midfield 2.
29 Aug 2026 18:22:26
I see I have my own fans.
What I stated earlier, I stand by and stand absolutely correct.
The midfield is hurting us and the squad isn't good enough as it is to compete. The pressure will pile on the gaffer if we can't manage wins soon. He hasn't been helped by Hughes and the fans are well aware these players will be held accountable.
There's no got you when I then said it's not all doom and gloom.
It only takes one great signing in midfield to propel Andonis team. The fullbacks are red flags but there's quality in the forward line which should see us do something this season. We just need to get a top 6 or defensive minded midfielder in the door to bring far better balance and confidence throughout the team.
4
{Ed666's Note - no chance we’ll be succesfull with the dodos at full back.
4
29 Aug 2026 18:46:16
Ed666, there's "hope" Kerkez will improve. Let's see how he fares with more movement and in a few months. Frimpong I think has been found out. He's not a full back and not good enough offering anything going forward.
He was a terrible signing.
I heard Bradleys not back until January which is crazy. We should have signed a top RB but we didn't. The lad from barca may do a job at RB.
1
{Ed666's Note - Kerkez was the best LB in the league when we bought him. Clearly he’s been ‘slotted’..the guy that replaced Kerkez at Bournemouth ain’t to bad
2
29 Aug 2026 18:50:18
Dom and Nyoni did well in pre season together, and Nyoni looked good when he came on. Teams are now going directly for our right side, knowing it's new and a poor Frimpong.
1
29 Aug 2026 18:56:34 Agreed, a proper defensively minded midfielder, Szobo as an 8 and Wirtz pulling the strings as he showed today he can. He ran more than anyone on the pitch today, we don't need him running, we need him in the right areas, picking passes for willing runners. At the moment, everyone wants to carry the ball. A defensive player would get the most out of Wirtz and protect the back line. A right back is needed too, mind; cannot rely on those at the club, Bradley included, too many injuries regardless of his ability.

29 Aug 2026 19:13:11
Isak is never going to be integrated into the Liverpool way.
He is a laptop signing. A square peg in a round hole. We need much more from our CF.
0
{Ed666's Note - Alvarez would be ideal for us. I would get on the phone and see if we can do a cheeky swap before Tuesday?
1
29 Aug 2026 19:14:53 Kerkez was brilliant at Bournemouth, so hopefully the gaffer gets his going again... However, he had midfielders that would cover gaps also.... Which in Mac or Grav we do not... Midfield is disgraceful currently, just like majority of last season.
29 Aug 2026 17:22:45
ED001 can you let me know when the time comes to start to worry? Squad looks fragile and not convinced with Frimpong but admittedly it's early doors right?
1
{Ed001's Note - it took Slot over a season to ruin the teamIraola needs time to fix it.
18
29 Aug 2026 18:06:29
There are a few issues at the moment, but both full backs need to step up significantly.
Frimpong is the most obvious concern - his passing generally was poor but his crossing today was abysmal.
4
29 Aug 2026 18:07:26
Only 2 competitive games, give him a chance.
5
29 Aug 2026 18:18:23
Edwards and Hughes can take some of that blame as well. The time is now to start worrying, or at the very least alter expectations. Coach needs time, but without the tools he's rowing uphill.
4
29 Aug 2026 18:24:43
When do we start panicking then?
How about Friday night when Ipswich smash us and the window is shut?. 😂
2
29 Aug 2026 18:48:42
Fatwallet, I am all for giving people a chance, mate, but he's also had all of last year.
1 assist last season, and what I've seen so far doesn't offer much to be enthusiastic about.
1
29 Aug 2026 18:52:02 It will take time. Strangely I saw plenty of positives within the absolute glaring negatives today.
It's obvious players are still adapting.
I know I've been massively critical of Isak but even he is still adapting.
Munoz reminds me of Damien Duff (early days). Sure he ran into blind alleys but got four shots off. Very close with one of them. And he has a sublime first touch. I'm very excited to see what he becomes. I'm hoping for a right footed prime Duffer. Maybe with a longer extended prime than Duff had.
And Wirtz was picking things out today, and though he played well.
Barcola could open doors. He is going to attract 2 or 3 when he is on the ball. Should free up space for others. I really hope he could be a key that unlocks the door for the attack. I'm not fully convinced but I'm very hopeful.
We do need to get a whole lot better off the ball though. Hopefully we can get a few more signings to help with that. But further coaching will also help.

29 Aug 2026 18:56:50 Jurgen Klopp finished 8th in his first PL season? Appointed 08 October 2015. They were in tenth place when he took over after 8 PL games.
It took Jurgen 3 years and 8 months to win his first LFC Trophy, old big ears, on 01 June 2019. Sir Bob Paisley never won a major trophy in his first season. Shankly left him an FA Cup-winning team, Community Shield success only for Sir Bob.
Bill Shankly lost his first two LFC league games, 4-0 to Cardiff and 3-0 away at Charlton. He got rid of 24 players when he first took over in pre-season.
Andoni is unbeaten in 18 PL games.
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it?
2
29 Aug 2026 19:02:10 Start panicking when we're struggling to qualify for the Champions League. 👍
29 Aug 2026 17:49:37
For everyone moaning it’s two games… We are fine. Munoz played on the left for some reason. Soon as Rio was on we saw what we are going to get this season. Enough talent in the squad.
We will go on a run now 💪 Aa is taking risks but that’s what you all wanted.
Klopp did the same, so relax. If you want a versatile attacking team that gets better and better you get Aa in and build, bring through youth, be smart in the market.
Guess what… That’s happening. Going to be a good season. ⚽️

29 Aug 2026 18:07:07
I agree about it being promising under the new manager. Rio, though, don't be pinning your hopes on him. Munoz has won a pen and scored. Rio has done nothing except 300 step overs. We need productive wingers, not a one trick show pony. Hopefully he can be coached to be more productive.

29 Aug 2026 18:10:46
Is that the AA as in roadside recovery, or are you AI as in the manager?
1
29 Aug 2026 18:29:07
Indeed, Welsh. OP, who is this "AA" you speak of, exactly?
29 Aug 2026 17:35:04
Premier League Injuries states the following potential return dates. Can be earlier.
Bradley 1/1/2027
Ekitike 12/10/2026
Leoni- unknown
Chiesa 4/9/2026
Gomez 4/9/2026
If Gomez remains fit then for me he's the rb.
1
{Ed666's Note - I love Joe more than most people…but even I have to admit there’s no way he’s staying fit for a whole season. We can’t reply on him we need to buy a decent RB.
6
29 Aug 2026 18:01:00
I know ed I just wish we could grow some new hamstrings for him. Lovely fella, feel so bad for him.
0
29 Aug 2026 18:30:05
Indeed, Ed. Gomez ain't staying fit all season. Based on near a decade of empirical evidence, that won't happen.
0
29 Aug 2026 19:14:10 Big ape, give that head a wobble! You feel sorry for a pampered millionaire sick note footballer! He should have been canned 5 years ago. Feel sorry for a lad playing a hobby they go out and enjoy for free on a cold, wet Sunday morning, who gets a leg smashed and has to sign on the dole for 12 wks; it sets him and his family back massively on mortgages, bills, etc. Do you get what I'm saying.
The fact Gomez is still relied upon shows you the state of the squad.
29 Aug 2026 17:33:11
Let’s not be too harsh, played woefully in 2 games and have 2 points.
This season was never going to be free flowing attacking football and defensive solidity, our outs and lack of transfer business so far has dictated that. To be truthful we’re simply not stacked with world class players anymore.
I do believe we’ll get better under Andoni, the entire squad is playing below par at the moment and I’m convinced he’ll get us ticking as the weeks go on.
If we are to have any hope of a top 4 finish this season, as most of you already know we need at least a full back, right winger and midfielder. Interesting week ahead in the market, chin up gents!!
1
{Ed666's Note - Irola has asked for two wingers let’s hope gets them. I’ve no doubt he will improve the performances the fella is good at what he does. He need to be backed in the transfer market because he can’t make water into wine.
2
29 Aug 2026 18:15:18
Ed666 if he didn't ask for a midfielder then I have serious doubts about him. This guy is almost seen as Klopp. Klopp was a great MANAGER.
Klopp needed players over a few years to get us truly competing. Andoni is unproven as a top manager. He's seen as a very good coach. You need to have a bit of Steel about you.
Maybe he has it. I'm giving him the full season before I give any type of judgement.
That squad needed midfielders before Jones went. I'd be very surprised if andoni didn't think we needed some type of defensive midfielder.
We're getting left behind this season if we don't sign a top central midfielder
1
{Ed666's Note - I agree mate we need a midfielder but let’s not pass judgement until the transfer window shuts. Maybe he has asked for a number of players but the bafoons upstairs aren’t able to perform elementary tasks. As I say let’s wait till the window shuts so we’re not coming from supposition but actuality.

29 Aug 2026 18:34:22
Ecogsi, I agree with your points, but disagree with saying we played woefully. I don't agree at all. Based on the Newcastle game, it was a distinct improvement collectively and in some cases individually.
Cos we didn't win does not remove from my assessment, cos yeah, we didn't win, but guys like Wirtz, Munoz, Rio (when he switched to the left) were very good, esp.
Wirtz, who was very good. And who knows what happens if that diabolical excuse of a pen was not given? Those are the margins, man.
Still have a lot of work to do to improve, but I think the staff and players can build on this, imo. I hope we can get Doni his first win as quickly as possible to get him off and running. Cheers, man.
