The only thing I am clinging to from this season, is that slot will be gone at the end of it.
However everywhere I look bar here, is reporting he will be staying on next season no matter what.
Ed001 please say it ain't so and that FSG cannot be that stupid to keep the man on, when in reality he couldn't run a bath well let alone this Liverpool team.

{Ed001's Note - they see it similar to Klopp's time, that this could be just a blip and Slot can turn it around.}

Let's imagine that they are right (and there is a remote possibility that they are, though if they had faith in their man, I can't fathom why they didn't back him in January when he clearly wanted reinforcements in central defense at the very least), surely the fact that fans in the grounds (that is, not online fans and people continually plugged into the football social mediasphere) have turned on the manager will force their hand? Unless Slot puts together an incredible run the last few games and we start looking like an absolute top team that will return to the top next season, which looks rather unlikely, even if it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

His contract ends in 13 months' time.
It doesn't feel like they're backing him to me.
It feels like they're being cautious about the press until they've secured the next man (or woman) in.
Either way, I can't see him getting a contract extension.
This blip in performance has been going on at least 14 months. Yes, we won the league last May, but that was mostly due to early season results. We limped over the line.

Replacing Slot means replacing Edwards and Hughes too. They won't go back on a manager that won the league. If we qualify for CL, as abysmal as this season has been, it can be written off in monetary sense.
Slot has been out of ideas, but I think he will get another chance as long as Edward and Hughes are here.
I don't mind it, to be honest, as success is not a guarantee with new manager and with names being thrown around I don't see immediate success with them.
If it were someone like Enrique or Pep or even Simeone (yea can't believe is used Enrique Pep and Simeone in one sentence lol) I'd be on the Slot out wagon all day.
But I have no real sense of confidence in an Alonso Iraolo or Hoeness or whoever in changing us overnight.
Slot did well in first season (whatever reasons you may want to call it) and then went hopeless in second. I think we need a third season to give a final verdict.
To be honest, top4 finish and quarter final in CL is not a hopeless season. Could have prioritised a cup, but we drew City, so thats just hardluck.

No way another year of this dross, he has to go before he turns us into mid table mediocrity.

16 Apr 2026 09:15:30 Cafu, you just made all that up as you typed along. "Success isn't guaranteed even with a new manager" - A) Actually, it is. Top managers win things with good players - period. B) The risk is worth taking if it means getting rid of Slot. "... is not a hopeless season" - Err, yes it is. In fact, it's worse than hopeless. To go from winning the league to scrapping for 5th with no trophies demonstrates one of the worst individual seasons of coaching I've ever seen.
Slot needs to go, simple as that.

16 Apr 2026 09:15:58 Ron, what happened? You have been backing Slot all season. Saying stuff like we are still in the cups, and still in the top five race. You believed he could turn it around. And now you've suddenly switched sides and no longer trust him?

16 Apr 2026 09:18:11 I honestly think I'd stop watching football if he stays. It's become so boring. I find myself second screening through our games. What games have you enjoyed watching this season? Genuinely enjoyed? Real Madrid is the only one that sticks in my memory. I didn't honestly enjoy last season. Obviously it was great we won but what were the stand out moments? The memories that make your hairs stand on end? I really can't remember any. Think of all of the moments we had under Klopp. Him losing his glasses against Norwich, Oxlade Chamberlain's rocket against City, Lovren's winner against Dortmund, Origi's winner against Everton. They just go on and on. They stick in your memory because the football was thrilling. It was entertaining. Our football now is the opposite. It's like paying to watch the same s*** film over and over again. I will always Liverpool but what is happening is creating apathy. I've stopped caring. And I don't mean this to come across as moaning that we're not challenging. I'd much rather watch us lose every game 4-3 like Real did last night than the insipid football that is currently being served up.

16 Apr 2026 09:48:25 I agree with that flidby, if Slot stays, I will take a break from football until he's gone.

Bayern v Madrid, 2 great games, proper football... I watched the Arsenal highlights... Well if you could call it highlights, like night n day the difference.

Kind of hard to stomach that this lot are going to win the Premier League. They had 1 shot on target and 0.64 xg at home.

16 Apr 2026 09:22:54 Patrik, I have been saying for months that I fully believe Arsenal will not win the league and I still stand by that.
15 Apr 2026 23:13:22
Do we have a buyback on Kelleher and if not why the b***** hell didn’t we. I so wanted Marmadashvili to be the one but nevermind being a million miles away from Allison he’s unfortunately just not good enough. He is at times a very good shot stopper. He made a brilliant save at 1 stage last night, but only because he caused their opportunity to happen. He had a very simple catch but opted to punch & they ended up with a shot from it (which, as I said, he made a good save from).
No point in going on about his distribution, both out of his hands and with his feet, as everyone can see it’s just nowhere close to Ali, but then again he spoiled us for years; it’s just how injury prone he has become that’s sadly become a massive massive problem.

You do realise Alisson is staying until the end of next season. Jaros is a good GK as well as Pesci.

None of anything is this guy's fault, fella... Dig a bit deeper is what I've done.

16 Apr 2026 07:50:44
Yeeah I would sell Marma and bleed through the other two younger keepers. In the little I have seen of Jaros, I think he has a high ceiling.
15 Apr 2026 22:10:55
Should not laugh at Real Madrid being knocked out. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂

15 Apr 2026 23:30:18
Yes we should. 😁

We are in no position to laugh at any club.

Fk is right. We are W3 D1 L6 in our last 10 games. Absolute s***cakes.

Remember the good old days when we used to track our great unbeaten run (good old days of earlier in this season).
I miss those posts... unbeaten in 10, unbeaten in 12... etc. (no need to mention that of those unbeaten games, most were draws).
So, 6 left in the season... let's aim for another unbeaten streak. 💪

Ah, you see Frode, that's missing out on one of the great joys with football. No matter how bad things go with your team, there will always be somebody else you can laugh at.

16 Apr 2026 09:23:50 Thank God for that, Wassa!!! 🤣 🙄... Hopefully we'll be laughing again on Sunday!!

16 Apr 2026 09:29:37 What little joy there is to be had this season, seeing Madrid failing is one of those lovely moments of schadenfreude. Mbappe really does have the faecal touch. Left PSG for them to become European champions, joins Madrid and they've not won a trophy in two years. Beautiful. As for Arnold Rat, how's that Balon D'or coming on? Does it mean more yet? And, as a side note, anyone seriously suggesting we look at signing Camavinga, just look at his brain dead sending off. Completely needless and helped his own side to lose the match. Bloke is as thick as he is injury prone. Hard pass.

16 Apr 2026 09:38:02 I'd still have Trent back in the morning though. Not under Slot but certainly under XA. We went from him to Frimpong. Make your own comparisons to that one.
15 Apr 2026 22:07:42
Great finish to the Bayern/Real match, but what a vile club with vile players Madrid really is. Guller runs from the bench at the final whistle to confront and shout at the ref, gets a deserved red card for his penance. Vinicus Junior, what a self entitled little p###k of a human being. Delighted for him. What I will say in his defence is that Mbappe is gracious in defeat, same can't be said for most of his team mates.
Personally I'm delighted Bayern won it in the end with goals from Lucio and Olisie to wrap it up. Hope they win the whole thing out, best attacking team in Europe, but there will be nothing between them and PSG over 2 legs.

...And en ers Arsenal. The killers of football.....

Isn't it great to see those nobs go out of the CL. Love it.

15 Apr 2026 22:19:14
Of course, but watching the two teams, you need top attacking wing players to be exciting and successful. We've zero. Rio's raw, and has plenty of time, but we need two top wingers on each side next season.
5
15 Apr 2026 22:27:35
Saying that all season.
2
15 Apr 2026 23:27:02
Agreed, Ron, bewilders me how many people on here don't think bringing in 2 wingers is a priority.

Moreso now with Salah gone, and Ekitike out for almost a year. Definitely need investment in wide areas.... we will probably end up with one and then get two injuries to the forwards!
If Isak is to be the main man, then u need to service him from wide and midfield.
That's the blueprint... fingers crossed he can get sharp and stay fit.
A defensive minded midfielder, Szob move to cm mostly, and Wirtz must improve at 10. Physically and end product wise, he must elevate his game, which I do believe he's capable of.

16 Apr 2026 07:59:02
I have been saying this all season. We need to get back to 4-3-3. Isak/Ekitike to lead the line, fast, direct paced wingers who like to take on players. Wirtz in the no. 10, then hopefully Anderson and Szobzlai providing the legs/engine in cm.
You cannot play on the front foot without pace in the forward areas.
This will also benefit Wirtz, who can feed the front 3. Furthermore, it will help the rest of the team, as each player will know their role, whereas we are changing formations and tactics regularly, with players' roles changing from game to game. No wonder why it's a sham.
15 Apr 2026 21:57:18
We're all celebrating Bayern winning.
Look at Madrid's antics even after the game.
Can we get in a head coach that can get us playing quality football again?
