FSG take a lot of stick on here and other forums for supposedly being tight fisted. It was interesting therefor to see that John Henry is the 4th largest investor in the EPL. He has in fact invested more than Man City´s Sheik who it seems only owns part of the club whos biggest investor is a Chinese consortium.
Maybe people should cut FSG a bit more slack.

No problem with their extravegant funding, they have much more important problems to address with respect to the way the club is run.
They seem a bit complacent and lacking in governance.

2.) 30 Jun 2017 10:35:48
No Wonder they get stick. It's not all about how much they invest but also how they run the club and in my eyes they run it poorly.

3.) 30 Jun 2017 12:15:24
Exactly. FSG is just a punching bag that their detractors always vent their frustration upon without knowing a thing about them or how much they have invested, also forgetting that LFC was a money pit for the first few years, losing a million quid a month. But hey, that's not their problem, is it? I do agree that there are a lot more they could do better cos the club is endemically poorly run hence, the shananigans we keep seeing re: tapping up of players.

4.) 30 Jun 2017 12:35:32
I would agree with Ron. They are amatuerish when it comes to running the club and getting the big decisions right. More often than not they have got it wrong and cost the club a fortune. Its easy blaming a manager or a DoF but who hires these people? Amatuers!

If the strong Naby Kieta rumours are true that is our mid field sorted.
Pity we look like missing out on Sessegnon but there must be other LB, s about. Another top quality CB should also be on the list.

We obviously do have an interest in Keita but he is honestly might just be out of our reach when it comes to how much the asking price for him will be.

I would rather concentrate on the bigger issues with our squad. LB, RB and another wide forward. If Sturridge does go then another striker.

Spending what is going to be required to bring in Keita might have to see Klopp losing out on other signings unless FSG are confident that Liverpool are not in line to make another loss in the next financial results. That could see Klopp being given an open cheque book.

Getting into the group stages of the CL and then hopefully making it into the knockout phase will see Liverpool bring in loads of revenue. This summer will be a case of russian roulette, especially when we still need to get into the group stage of the CL.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has spoken with two of his representatives but have still not spoken with RBL.}

2.) 28 May 2017 09:15:28
Who said we are missing out on Sessegnon? No new updates about him in the last few days. Keita would be great but an expensive option. There probably won't be enough money to buy a new striker or Cb if we splurge 50 million one player. Still I think Keita will be a world class player in a few years time. There is something special about the lad everytime I see him play.

3.) 28 May 2017 09:37:16
Hasn't the eds said on more than one occasion that we hold no interest in a new? Luan Brandt keitia sessengnon and Pereira would be a cracking summer for me.

4.) 28 May 2017 09:40:54
Ed002, so obviously Liverpool know the demands of the player.

Keita is at a club which can offer CL league. Guess this situation will only become clear when Liverpool confirm there place in the CL group stage as one can only assume it will be pointless for Keita to move to us unless we can offer what he currently has. No point making an offer to his club if we cannot at this point accommodate the players needs.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea whether he would want to wait until the end of the window and he has no assurance of CL at this time at RBL.}

5.) 28 May 2017 09:49:59
So we have spoken to 2 of his representatives ed, I guess that's a start. Still need to talk to RBL like you say. I guess that usually follows aftrr talking to his reps.

{Ed002's Note - If RBL are interested in talking. They don't want to sell which is what another side has been told.}

6.) 28 May 2017 09:56:16
Sorry Ed002, thought RBL qualified for the group stages already. Obviously it is now down to Liverpool to approach RBL if they want any slight chance of making a deal happen then.

Same goes for Brandt.

I guess a 3rd place finish would have made things that much easier for us.

{Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that for RBL due to RBS also qualifying.}

7.) 28 May 2017 10:05:45
Sounds like it could be a hard deal to get done, can't fault there stance on not wanting to sell there best players. Is there a release clause in place also.

{Ed002's Note - A release clause would be of no relevance. You need to forget about them.}

8.) 28 May 2017 11:19:34
Ok mate thank you for the update as usual. I guess will see what develops. We must at least think a deal can be done if we are still persuing him. I just hope we are not held to ransom.

9.) 28 May 2017 13:51:56
Hi Ed002 - What would the talk with the 2 of his representatives entail? Wages, If he would be keen to move?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, broadly those issues. And about the sort of figure RBL would look for if they could be persuaded to sell.}

10.) 28 May 2017 15:39:39
Do you think they might be persuaded ed, money talks I guess.

{Ed002's Note - They certainly don't need the money.}

Everybody getting excited about newspaper reports again. Surely we have learned by now that at least 90% of them are made up as they do not have any genuine news. Why do people want to beat the club up over fictitious reports.

PEGLEG_ I tend to agree with you but all the reports seem to suggest it was just his continual breaking of rules like being late for meals, missing a rehab session, interrupting an interview, being late for the plane etc. None of them seem big things but he did not seem to learn. Very sad as with him we would not need VVD.

It has been fairly widely reported that an offer will go in later this week. Probably just waiting for Klopp to get his feet back under the table. What I find interesting is that there are no reports of other clubs chasing Keita, same as no one else seemed to be interested in Salah.

Costared

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in him from elsewhere but (a) he is not for sale, and (b) if he were the price would put clubs off.}

His club have clearly been made aware of our interest. I suspect the rules regarding approach are slightly different in the UK to the rest of Europe. Either that or the rest of them are prepared to turn a blind eye. I read an article by a sports lawyer recently and he said that if all clubs in the UK stuck to the rules no one would ever be bough or sold.

Costared

{Ed002's Note - No, the rules are the same. Liverpool know that. Klopp certainl knows that and the club dealt with two letters of complaint last summer. You have to stop trying to justify this unacceptable behavior.}

Yep, Ojo looking good but so is Kent. Great pace and equally strong on both feet. His decision making has obviously improved as well.
Woodburn, Solanke and of course TAA were also excellent and we must not forget Grujic whomade some good runs into the box, passed well and grabbed a 30 yard goal.

There is no doubt that Pedro has a lot of ability. Personally i think he just lacks a bit of pace/ sharpness and cannot see him in the first team, particularly with the MF players we have.

Paul Joyce, one of the more knowledgeable reporters re LFC, has said that we will be making an offer this week to test RBs resolve.

How can you make a comment like that about young players being stifled. Just because they do not make the grade does not mean they have been stifled. Most young players stop improving somewhere in their teens. Sometimes it is due to physical development, sometimes they lack the mental strength to push on and other times they just lack the appetite. The vast majority of young players at clubs are given the opportunity to develop, obviously it is in the clubs interest this to happen.

Costared

{Ed001's Note - I worry about anyoen without the sense to understand the stifle comment. Pointless discussing it with you if you are so clueless that you think players stop developing in their teens! Try learning something before typing, as you are looking a fool right now with that idiotic comment! It is simply not even close to being true and shows incredible ignorance of the reality of human development.}

I disagree with Ed. LFC did not stifle Suso, at the time he left he was not good enough. It was his wish to leave as he wanted a first team place he was not ready for. Obviously he has come out of his shell since leaving but it did not happen instantly.
