See some rumours that Liverpool are not willing to meet Roma valuation of Salah and this may put deal in jeopardy. Any truth in this eds?

{Ed025's Note - as far as i know things have gone well, you will hear lots of things like this though on most deals red one..

1.) 06 Jun 2017 11:37:39
No that's not the case Red One. It's simply negotiations. You don't go and pay what they want. You say no no that's too much we are not willing to pay that. And then offer lower.

Question for the eds and all. With the results so far in this world cup and the teams that didn't make it e. g. Italy, Holland etc, and the teams that have not made it to the quarter finals do you fee that the so called lesser teams have improved or the strong nations weakened?

{Ed025's Note - the minnows have got stronger for me red one, that is mainly down to foreign coaches and more diverse cultures playing in the top leagues throughout the world..its all good for me mate..

1.) 02 Jul 2018 22:07:22
Totally agree ed025 I think it's fantastic for the game itself. Also great to give nations hope that they can progress with the right attitude and application.

{Ed025's Note - very much so mate..

2.) 03 Jul 2018 00:11:07
I felt for Japan. They were brilliant. Looked the better side but Belgium were clinical when it mattered. They could win this tournament easily.

3.) 03 Jul 2018 00:17:45
Not with Martinez in charge.

4.) 03 Jul 2018 02:11:45
I dunno, his subs came on and turned a 2 0 defecit into a 3 2 win.

5.) 03 Jul 2018 08:58:55
The problem with Belgium is that they have a lot of quality players, so the chances are in every game they will have enough moments of talent to win a game. But if they dont, the only tactical thing that Martinez is capable of is bringing on Fellaini, smashing balls at his head and hope he doesn't finally get the red card for elbows that's been waiting for him for about a decade. Will that be enough against the likes of France or Brazil? Not if France or Brazil bring their A game, despite Belgium having a reasonably equal squad.

6.) 03 Jul 2018 09:24:05
Funny you mention foreign coaches ed. Back here in Australia the media has been crying about our exit and our obsession with Dutch coaches claiming no world cup winning team has won with a foreign coach. I believe that to be true. But the minnows can't really win it, but can improve with better coaches.

{Ed025's Note - the gap is definitely closing mark and it wont be that long before we see a so called minnow getting to the semi or even final of the world cup, the aussies need a top class coach but it will be a long time before a home grown guy gets the gig mate, maybe tim cahill in a couple of years could fit the brief..

7.) 03 Jul 2018 17:22:29
the diversity in the game is so strong at the moment and I can see the long term vision that Infantino has to increase the world cup entrants to continue to grow the game. which seems crazy cos the game is so popular already. Not even through the round of 16 and this has been the best world cup I've watched in my lifetime (34)

Fair play to both England and Belgium for playing a proper game. I don't think either team fears who they play next. It's much easier focus and rise your players for a top team rather than a lesser one. Delighted for TAA.

1.) 28 Jun 2018 20:41:47
Think am watching something different as fell asleep a few times over - Insomnia style 😁.

2.) 28 Jun 2018 20:52:07
Think England will regret this performance as it has killed the feel good factor
At least Trent got a good piece of the action.

3.) 28 Jun 2018 20:52:43
It was no classic by any means but what I mean by proper was neither played for a bore 0-0.

4.) 28 Jun 2018 20:54:53
Congrats to England. Think Columbia will have the better of you though. Still, out of the group stages so well done and all the politeness. Think Spain will do it personally.

5.) 28 Jun 2018 20:59:51
Belgium v Croatia final would be good.

{Ed025's Note - only if your belgian or croatian..

6.) 28 Jun 2018 21:21:16
Or put money on it!

7.) 28 Jun 2018 21:28:05
England belgium final that's my prediction (if henderson stays fit) .

If lukaku is fit for brazil i think belgium can take them espically if bobby stays on the bench. Been bit suspect on crosses on a whole and de bruyne and hazard could really hurt them if given too much space.

England most likely will play sweden in quarters which will be a game of set pieces. Sweden will be able to cope with what england throw at them but it only takes one to land right. Sweden don't have much pace in behind which will suit the way england play so they could dictate the play for long periods.

Crotia though.

8.) 28 Jun 2018 21:30:56
Yeah I actually fell asleep as well. 78th minute until 89th minute. 😴.

9.) 28 Jun 2018 22:43:02
I left work at half 6 so I could get home to watch the game. Literally just finished paperwork that I could have done earlier. When will I learn to stop watching England.

10.) 29 Jun 2018 00:37:16
We need to get past columbia first. Sadly I can see us losing that one.

11.) 29 Jun 2018 20:58:00
I honestly think we'll make the Semis. Colombia just have a couple of gems in attacking midfield and if you give Falcao space in the box, he'll punish you. I don't think there's much more to them than that.

27 May 2018 03:04:19
The one thing this final showed is the glaring areas where we need improvment. To me it's midfield. We just can't keep hold of the ball. Am I the only one who thinks this way?

1.) 27 May 2018 05:07:04
No there are many and one is Klopp, why he is bringing 3 midfielders this summer! 8 years since we had the controller in Europe. Alonso!

2.) 27 May 2018 05:07:17
For starters we have Keita coming in and Ox to return from injury and I’m sure we will sign another midfielder but you have to take into consideration the style of football we play. Would Kroos suit our game? Our players lost their heads and confidence once Salah went off and Madrid suddenly found belief. Because the first 25 minutes Kroos passing was sloppy Casimero was terrible. So Mo going off also effected the way out midfield played. Generally thought our back 4 played very well tonight and Milner and Mane was superb for the grief he gets sometimes he fought till the end and was always our one danger man.

3.) 27 May 2018 07:31:44
Neither Milner or Wiji are starters. Get AOC and a fully fit Can or Lallana and our midfield is significantly stronger.

Amazing how there were 3 Spanish teams in the pot yet all avoided each other! Luck of the draw. Liverpool won't fear city, they know they can beat city. Would have loved to get Barca.

1.) 16 Mar 2018 11:59:23
Extremely tough draw especially with Everton in the middle of the 2 fixtures. We might have a great attack but the truth is City are the best team in the country so we will need to
be on form for both legs. Yes Liverpool won't fear city as we know we can beat them but surely City won't fear us not after they thrashed as at home start of the season.

2.) 16 Mar 2018 12:14:28
That thrashing was after a sending off. It’ll be tough but that should not be considered a precedent.

3.) 16 Mar 2018 12:49:33
Not saying it's a precedent. City are the best team in the country and that's why they are 21 points ahead of us or does the league table lie. However over 2 legs we are more than capable of beating them. LFC fans say we will beat them because of the home fixture but then refuse to acknowledge the 5-0 all because of a sending off. It's not like we lost 1-0 in a tight contest with 10 men. We were torn apart.

4.) 16 Mar 2018 13:31:50
Jayden, City have received more thrashings from LFC since Klopp arrived and Klopp is the one with the most wins (6 in 12 games) vs Pep and has scored more goals vs City (4 twice and 3 once) vs City than any other manager since the oil money arrived in 2009. Yes, they thrashed us 5-0 BUT that only means that a dead clock can be right only twice a day (once here) as that is NOT the norm when we play them. We'll be fine and we will not fear them and I don't expect them to fear us either.

5.) 16 Mar 2018 13:48:42
I agree BRover we shouldn't fear them. We shouldn't fear anyone. It's only a game of football. What is there to fear. However results from 09 mean nothing in the upcoming fixtures. We are in very very good form this season and City are in great form. May the best team over 2 legs win.

6.) 16 Mar 2018 13:58:50
That's my boy, Jayden. Spot on, bro.

24 Jul 2017 20:41:34
Hi eds. Is there any update on how Mane is progressing with his return to fitness?

{Ed002's Note - Not since the one given earlier today.}

Ed002 do you think he has the potential to progress or has he reached his limit in your opinion?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea, I only know what the club think of him.}

I'm sure no one appreciates what it's means to be on the pitch playing more than him after his injuries. Wish him all the best and his attitude will infect other's I'm sure.

For me it would be a mid of Keita, Fekir and Fab. If we get Fekir. That way we have a defensive mid a box to box and a creative one.

This is the 4th player in the current squad that has played with Basel. It's our Swiss Southampton.

Biggest disappointment for me was a lad called Kenny Dalglish. Expected so much from him but he failed miserably. Didn't expect anything from that Dundee lad but he has become a legend!
