Ed001/ Ed002 I've seen mentioned that Liverpool are looking at Thiago Motta, Bologna FC head coach/ manager, sorry lads, this is internet bull probably I'll admit and it's not a random name that I've thrown up, of course I know nothing about him only his playing days.
{Ed002's Note - Thiago Motta (C) MIlan and Juventus are showing some interest in taking Motta in the summer as his coaching career has been picking up and he is well thought of. Will perhaps be considered by former club Barcelona, but they certainly have preferred choices but could look to integrate him in to the larger coaching set up they are planning. There has been no approach by Manchester United or Liverpool that I am aware of. }.

Rubin Amorim is first choice mate. David Ornstein who is reliable has confirmed this. And the Portuguese version of him Pedro Sepulveda has said the same thing and added that talks have already began. Sepulveda also went on to add that we are clear front runners for his signature. Release clause for clubs outside our Portugal is between €15-€20 million and Sporting will not fight any club that offer that amount.

If he chooses to go on a free there is nothing we can do. I’m not so sure he will tarnish his image with the club by doing that though, but it will be his choice.

So VV you think VDB would be better to keep than Guehi to buy? If this was the case, why are so many clubs put off by VDB £20m valuation? Surely a steal in your world.
I do agree that for the money being banded around for Guehi there are far better options around. It all depends on who wants to come.
I would go all out for Bastoni if he would come.

Ed001, are you in favour of this new approach to transfers? Who do you think will carry the can if it doesn’t work out? Would love to hear your thought's.
{Ed001's Note - it really depends on how it works in practice as to whether I am in favour or not. I would prefer a much more ruthless approach, which this should allow for, but it comes down to if the people making the decisions are the right ones or not. Only time will tell. I certainly prefer having a single decision maker for things. Committees end up with compromises and compromises are not the way to go in sports. But it does come down to finding the right ones to put in the decision maker spots. I am not convinced we have that yet. The likes of Edwards and Ward were far too weak in previous roles, so bringing them back with more responsibility seems an odd choice to me. But I don't know them well enough as people to know if it will bring the best out of them or the weight of responsibility will weight too heavily on their shoulders. Will they step up and take charge this time, or will they again let what is essentially an underling overrule them time and time again? We need them to be strong enough to be ruthless and get rid of players past their time while they still have value to be sold. The Saudi league is not going to offer us another get out of jail free card, so they have to be better.}
