Can easily see Klopp changing to a 4231 next season. I personally think he would have started this season with it if he had signed Keita, with Coutinho as the 10. If our reported transfer targets are correct someone like Fekir would be perfect for that no10 as he can overlap into the spaces Firmino creates, a then for games we need to rotate and rest the forwards we can shift to the 433 where Fekir can slot in seemlessly to bobbys position. And for games Fekir is unavailable we can once again shift to the 433 that has worked so well this season.

I think our formation works great for big games but still need the option for a striker in my eyes. They created so much today and I do like solanke. With someone like fekir we can rest Salah/ mane or firmino against smaller teams and still have a strong attacking three or maybe four if needed, which I think is key.

2.) 13 May 2018 23:17:40
That is actually a pretty good shout.

3.) 14 May 2018 06:03:29
Expect we’ll see more of the 4-2-3-1 when keita joins, and particularly against defensive setups that look to pack their box and limit the space for our attack.

Having Firmino run the show at no.10 was very effective today, and having a striker ahead of him meant Mane and Salah could stay wide and stretch the defence. Having 4 goal scorers on the pitch was more important against Brighton than having 3 midfielders but that won’t be the same against every team.

Expect the 4-3-3 against RM where possession will be more even and our front three will have more space to exploit.

4.) 14 May 2018 06:29:06
We seem too do better when teams have more possession against us, Madrid will definitely have more of ball for us too exploit an counter on them hope this is the case.

5.) 14 May 2018 19:30:48
Agreed that the 4-2-3-1 worked well against Brighton. But don't agree that we should use it all season long simply because it is too offensive and exposes our defense way too much. Our fullbacks actually play like wingbacks, so that leaves only the centerbacks and the two midfielders to hold back. We're at our best with the 4-3-3, but I wouldn't be against the 4-2-3-1 for the last 15-20 minutes of a game, against a team that came with a fleet of parked buses.

6.) 14 May 2018 20:35:28
Salah plays up the shoulder of center half and full back so we never played 1 up top if anything

4213 is more suited.

In out In out shake it all about
Alisson rumours again now from Brazil claiming he is interested in a move to us after the World Cup. Now I know how the media works and expect this story to go back and fourth all summer. But my question to the eds is do you think there's any truth to this? (Alisson wanting to join us) For too long we have been linked with topplayers who would improve us only to find out we had no chance. I hope this isn't one of those cases!

TIA19

1.) 23 Feb 2018 16:27:59
You mean like Mo Salah, Van Dijk and Naby Keita who all had numerous other options with better wages etc. than us? :S.

2.) 23 Feb 2018 16:51:33
You're missing my point. It is true that in the past few windows we have started to attract more quality players, which is fantastic. But Salah wasn't being sought after by the top clubs, heck he wasn't even one of our top choices.
I'm simply trying to find out if what has been said is true so I know whether to take it seriously.

3.) 23 Feb 2018 17:09:03
He could have joined Juve, Atletico, Spurs, we were the ones that pushed for him, and signed him up very early, as for not being our top choice that is a blessing rather than a negative, can't see Julian Brandt or Thomas Lemar having half the impact he had!

4.) 23 Feb 2018 17:10:14
And ed002 said forget about Alisson, i would take his word for it because he knows, he's not guessing like the rags or media with their ''sources'' looking for clicks.

5.) 23 Feb 2018 17:56:31
So you originally replied to my post just to point out that we have signed top players recently, thus making my statement about getting my hopes up for alisson, only for you to go on and say ed002 said we have no chance. Priceless.

6.) 23 Feb 2018 19:33:01
your original post said top players and no chance and you clearly didn't mean alisson by that remark, you're the pricless one cupcake :)

7.) 23 Feb 2018 22:17:15
I urge you to re read, I literally meant Alisson, my whole post was regarding Alisson, it was the entire point of the post. To be honest the moment you mentioned Salah I realised you had no idea what my point was as he doesn't come under that bracket of player I was referring to, but I entertained it anyway just incase your point eventually made sense, but then you contradicted yourself quite brilliantly. Couldn't make it up 😂.

8.) 23 Feb 2018 22:18:37
I love how people try and patronise when they realise they've contradicted themselves.

9.) 23 Feb 2018 23:28:30
Nobody knows, people have an opinion. or some inside info. the only people that know are within the club.

10.) 24 Feb 2018 08:02:45
For too long we have been linked with topplayers who would improve us only to find out we had no chance. I hope this isn't one of those cases!

This is what you wrote, who is contradicting themselves? You obviously can't even read your own ramblings! For me Salah was a top class player before we signed him and had the same numbers as Dybala in serie A over 2 seasons, so honestly couldn't care less what people class a top player anymore. Its all a bunch of nonsense. Your post was to ask about Alisson and then have a dig at the club saying we '' never have no chance of signing top players who would improve us'' seriously embarrassing.

11.) 24 Feb 2018 13:23:43
TIA how about you use the search function first. You wouldn't have even needed to ask your question.

07 Jun 2017 20:00:11
So EDs the £50million question on everyone's minds, do any of you have an idea of potential alternatives? I'm sure it's probably too soon to tell but any info wouldn't be appreciated.

Shame we've done this type of behaviour again, let's hope we learn from it.

Thanks

TIA19.

TIA19

{Ed001's Note - nothing yet, if anything mate.}

1.) 07 Jun 2017 20:03:03
But we won't learn from it though. Clearly that won't happen.

2.) 07 Jun 2017 20:36:49
Our alternative should be Sakho as he's quality and can play at left back, Klopp should back down after this idiocy.

3.) 07 Jun 2017 20:44:18
De Vrij seems to be one. Contract is running low think he's in last year of it.

4.) 07 Jun 2017 20:54:49
Everyone knows we are willing to spend big now though, I swear by lascelles at Newcastle but I'm the only one who does.

Is there any truth to the Fekir rumours? And if there is, is this the French player Macca mentioned back in January?

TIA19

1.) 07 May 2018 15:20:24
The French player in January was Griezmann I think.

2.) 07 May 2018 15:30:31
Read the posts pal, right at the top of the rumours page.

3.) 08 May 2018 00:14:45
As DaRedMan alluded to, its really worth using the search function before asking a question. (The less said about the Griezmann debacle the better) as for fekir here's what one of the ed's has recently said

"Ed002's Note - As a special treat. Liverpool have no agreement in place for Lemar, Maddison, Fekir nor any other of the done deals at this time. They will look to adding a versatile attacking midfield player as an effective replacement for Coutinho. As has been explained a number of options have been looked at and there are scouts still looking at players across Europe and they will have looked at the likes of Fernandes, Fekir, Draxler etc. Specifically, the Lyon Sporting Director has spoken recently (since Fekir reurned from injury) with two sides, one English and one Spanish but Lyon would like the player to stay and are very difficult to deal with. Arsenal has had a long-term interest in Fekir but whether the new senior management will continue the interest AW had in the player is unclear at the moment. So right now Fekir has certainly been watched by Liverpool but they have not discussed anything with the Lyon owner or Sporting Director - but perhaps they will. "

4.) 08 May 2018 03:35:35
He fits the Klopp profile - midfield dynamo.

He reminds me of a cross between coutinho and the Ox.

More skill than the Ox but more dynamic than Coutinho. 🤝.

5.) 08 May 2018 11:22:03
My sentiments exactly on Fekir, Ron. I would be chuffed if we got him BUT as Ed02 said, there are others we are looking at.

17 Mar 2018 21:29:40
I've got to admit the Allez Allez Allez song around the stadium kept giving me goosebumps tonight! Nice to see a song robbed from another club has been picked up so quickly!

TIA19

1.) 17 Mar 2018 22:36:33
Yeah loved it. One of my fave performances of the season today. Just great to watch even though it was freeeeezing!

2.) 17 Mar 2018 22:44:49
The entire kop needs to learn it. It's only half potential at the minute.

3.) 17 Mar 2018 23:01:07
Hate disagreeing with anything on here but because only a handful of the Kop know the words it sounds like one big droney song. on par with “oh when the Spurs go marching in” compare it with “The fields of Anfield Road” or the Salah song and it’s sung with no passion. fine against European teams but won’t work until the whole kop sings it.

4.) 18 Mar 2018 01:13:30
I sit on the kop and most at the back to middle sing it.

We sang it to such effect before the match kicked off at Old Trafford, they had to turn up theme sound system. Same at the end when we’re kept behind.

17 Mar 2018 20:17:49
Managed to get 2 tickets for me and the Mrs celebrating our 7 year anniversary. What a game to celebrate it! YNWA.

1.) 17 Mar 2018 21:58:06
Fantastic mate. How cold was it there tonight though!

2.) 17 Mar 2018 22:07:04
Congrats, OP.

3.) 17 Mar 2018 23:51:04
It was freezing wasn't it. We missed the first goal due to Hannah's persistence to go the toilet. Worth it though seeing the result. Unforgivable if it ended up 1-0 though 😂.

19 Feb 2018 15:09:57
Eds/ insiders.
I've noticed Grujic seems to be playing a more deep lying 'number 6' role so far for Cardiff, is this something that has been planned to see his potential in the position as a possible in house replacement for Emre Can? Or is it just that Cardiff see him best there? I know he was seen as more of an attacking/ box to box midfielder upon his arrival so find it intriguing that he's operating there, cheers.

TIA19

1.) 19 Feb 2018 16:12:31
TIA, he was already playing that position with the U23's so you may be right even tho, I don't think it is his best position.

2.) 20 Feb 2018 00:50:23
Glad he is playing regularly at a high level. I think he would get in any Premier league side outside the top 6.

3.) 20 Feb 2018 03:44:44
I think he’s going to end up being a class act at no.6.

27 Jan 2018 19:22:01
Do any of the Eds or fellow reds have any info on why Lemar has been left out of the Monaco squad?
Klopp also mentioned in the last 24 hours that one or two of the players he wants in the summer could come now, I believe he's probably referring to Keita and Lemar as they have been our main targets that have proved somewhat problematic in trying to sign.
Is it possible that 2+2=4 in this instance and we are possibly trying to sort the Lemar deal out now or is it just an unrelated coincidence? Cheers.

TIA19

{Ed002's Note - He has a leg spassm/bruise/ache or whatever.}

1.) 27 Jan 2018 23:40:23
Lemar won't fix the lack of tracking back, tackling or protection of the back four from our midfield.

Can should have been sold and replaced, his head is clearly elsewhere. Wijnaldum just needs a rest and a refocus.

2.) 27 Jan 2018 23:50:33
Leg ache?
Ouch! That takes me back to when I was four.
Can't Lemar play up on his dad's shoulders.

3.) 28 Jan 2018 01:53:39
Twisted sock I heard.

Id love to believe you mate and for this site to have another person with credibility but you’re just echoing things the Ed’s have already said days ago.

If you’re source who knows the production team at lfc is legit, they surely would have told you about Fabinho.

I’d take a hazard of a guess that he either checks Twitter and passes those things onto you as if ITK, or that you do.

I’ve noticed every summer on this website a few people will always come along repeating things already known to the public in an attempt to have credibility. Alansbarnet springs to mind, oh how I miss him 😅
Unfortunate.

Jonesred I understand your concerns and I’ve just been having a near identical conversation with a mate as he had the same worries. But I personally think that if we sign our targets (Cellabos and AM) along with Keita, then we will have sufficient players to cope with Ox’s injury.

If we use this seasons formation as an example and look at the squad hypothetically with those signings. Hendo, Keita and Fekir start with gigi, Milner and Cellabos in reserve is plenty, even if let’s say we lose hendo and Fekir to injury, we still would have a midfield of Cellabos, Keita and gig/ Milner, and then gives players like Trent and Woodburn the opportunity to play in midfield. Especially if we sign a rightback as the eds have mentioned.

I’d say signing another midfielder on top of all that could end up being more disruptive than productive.
Cheers.

Reynard, he signed him based on the opinion of someone within the club. He decided to trust this persons view and then learnt from it. That is entirely different to his view when signing a player.

I personally think he’s too inconsistant and feel like we’ve took a big step in our quality of recruitment in the last 18 months, would like to think we wouldn’t take a backwards step targeting mediocre players again. An attacking midfielder capable of playing in the front 3 is what I thinks best, then we can both rotate them and have them all starting when needed. Abit like how coutinho was used in the first half of this season.

Barzdo I seen what you’re saying but what you’ve just described is not fickle, that’s people having different opinions. Fickle is the same fans constantly changing their opinions to the beat of the drum. You’re describing different fans having different opinions?

If my memory is correct, Ed002 suggested if we were looking at Malcolm it would be as a potential replacement for Salah quite a while back, so I suppose it’s not inconceivable that we could sign him this season to rotate with the front 3 and then if one of them where to leave at any point in the future we’d still have a healthy looking squad before we actually targeted a replacement.

But I remember Fekir playing right wing, then CAM, then CF so if we only signed him I imagine him able to provide cover, especially if Wilson has a good pre season and could allow our budget to be used elsewhere for the time being.

Ron - always makes a light hearted joke that’s relevant

Ed001 - he’s the reason a lot of us have our knowledge on player abilities

Ed002 - he’s the reason we understand how football works outside the pitch, and what’s really going on

Harry - sheer comedy value

Putney - for thinking outside the box

Macca - for sending us all crazy

Ed025 - for being real rather than bitter

Smeg - only more recently I’ve grown to appreciate his posts, whether I agree or not

Shoutout to the regulars as well
And shoutout to the ninjas who want to get involved but haven’t quite got round to it.
