See in media vvd complaining about his Dutch teammate's, his defending for chisels goal was diabolical. he needs to take a long hard look at himself as blaming teammates seems to be his constant excuse now a days.

Spot on, Playtowin23. I have no idea why he is doing this. We have seen thim do this a lot lasts eason as well, pointing and yelling at whatever team mate in his vicinity when a goal is scored via an error that some of the time is his own fault.
He also has this weakness of not or never being able to just ignore whatever criticism he gets esp. form people like Keane or Neville who IMO, are just trying to trigger him.
For me, VVD needs to buckle down and work hard cos he ain't THAT guy anymore. And and even worse, when you start throwing team mates under the boss to cover for your perceived mistakes then, there's only one way he will go and that's down.

This time last year Gomez was wanted as our first choice centre half and Phillips is a big fan favourite so start them pair and see how we get off.

SR, I am not responding to whatever the chuckle bro. Keane is talking about nor did I see the goal. This conduct is what VVD has been doing for months now and I did not even need to go see the goal to post a comment cos I have already seen him do all these things thru our last season already.
Some say he should be sold and Im not even saying that cos I know, we kind of can't right now. All Im saying is that he needs to honker down, lay low and get his ship together first, ignore the noise and actually show people he is still THAT guy. All the other stuff is just confirming whatever bias people already have for him, IMO.

Not bothered what he does for Holland and not bothered who he shouts at, but he’s definitely had a tough season.
I’m not phased by it. He had a terrible career threatening injury at an age where it’s harder to heal and regain fitness.
He’ll be back this season as one of the best centre backs in the premier league.

The same things he is doing and has been doing for Holland, are the same things he was doing for LFC all season so feel free to ignore whatever you like. That does not mean it is not happening.

I don’t feel international football has much bearing on premier league football (Harry Maguire? ) . Different pace, different intensity etc. So he can do whatever he likes for Holland, play like a p-d up giraffe on roller skates. No offence to any Dutch people, I feel the same for Liverpool players and England.
Virgil has had a rough season. I feel defending is very much a team / unit effort. You all have to be in tune, you all have to cover danger and sometimes you have to cover for your teammates. I feel a lot of teammates have relied on Virgil covering for them for years. Now he needs support and teammates to cover for him. If they’re not doing that I can understand why he’s frustrated and why he’s pointing to players to cover danger.
I don’t hold it against him. It’s a rough season, the first he’s had for Liverpool. He’ll be back.

That said, I do not like his attitude and throwing if his team mates under the bus regardless of who those team mates play for. He needs to pick it up, talk less and work harder. I’ll keep saying it.

Are we seriously questioning Virgil after one poor season? Even that is questionable given he had no protection from the midfield or forwards for most of it.

I don't think there is anything wrong with questioning VVD. He has not been able to hit his high standards since he came back from his injury. We all hope that he can get back to his imperious best but we should also consider if it is time to phase him out of the team and get a replacement in early.
Personally, I think his issues are more psychological than physical. His body has healed but he still seems afraid to get stuck in. To be fair, his injury was a bad one so his mental state now is completely understandable. But it remains to be seen if he can recover from this and trust his body again.

Spot on OliEd. Virg constantly throws his team mates under the bus when he throws his arms up in the air. Notice the difference when Hendo throws his arms up and starts pointing he’s showing great leadership qualities.
Virg attitude is also terrible and I just wish Klopp who sees him daily and knows him personally also saw what you saw and didn’t select him every game he’s available.

Vvd needs dropping for club and country he did have enough credit in the bank but he has used it all up last season. He was by far are worse defender last not putting challenges in from the very first game against Fulham. He should be shown his defending because a lot of the time it was worse than playing with 10 men you think he has got a player and just did nothing just let them do what they wanted without even making a challenge.
Yes he has a bad injury but no worse than Gomez and as poor as Joe was last season I never see him not make a challenge.

Gomez and Phillips would concede about 80 goals if they were first choice pairing. We need another CB definitely though but i’d keep VVD over Gomez Matip and Phillips.

I admit to not watching him much this season but Brighton have been on TV a few times over the past couple of weeks and I’ve made a point of watching him. There is nothing there that suggests to me he is any more than a £40m player at the very most.
Maybe he’s just been off form and played better earlier in the season or something because based on what I’ve seen someone is going to their pants well and truly pulled down if the pay what Brighton are asking for him.

@Beckers, I agree, once the ball starts tolling (excuse the pun) :about a player then everything they do is seen in a very positive light. An average game with one or two good touches sees them elevated to megastar status almost immediately and if then becomes impossible for them to do anything wrong - if they don’t track back then it’s lack of positional play by those around them, if they play a bad pass it’s the lack of awareness on the poor bloke expected to leg it for 60 yards when the ball’s upfield.
There are quite a few players who we be hailed as great signings (if they sign for us) and as great losses that we missed if they go somewhere else, when the truth is that they are all human and make mistakes - the problem with that being that they are then judged by people like me who has never made a single mistake, ever.

I just can’t see anything special about Caicedo at all. He’s not particularly quick, not great on the ball, was backing out of challenges tonight, his passing was average.

Injuries are a part of the game. As are bad tackles, I’m sure only a small minority would deliberately injure a player.
Everton is a tough game tomorrow, we are crap at the moment. We need to play tough, it’s as if the players feel they are entitled to get results without any effort. and that has contributed to this disaster of a season for Liverpool fc standards.

We haven’t the midfielders to either play a physical game or to out football Everton. Even if we go down the route of playing Milner, Henderson and Fabinho they’ll be chasing shadows as there’s no pace amongst them. Dyche will have that lot well drilled and they’ll out muscle us in the middle of the park, gutted they sacked Lampard as we’d have had a chance of an easy win, sacking him and employing someone competent is the worst of both worlds.
Going into a derby knowing we’ve absolutely no fight in the middle of the park is pretty poor. It’s going to be a very hard game to watch. As for bajcetic, he should play, he doesn’t learn by not taking part and he’s currently our best midfielder by a very very long way.
