I’m interested to see how Lewis Koumas develops from here.
Went down a couple of blind alleys in possession yesterday showing his inexperience at times, but has shown ability on the ball during pre-season.
Out of possession he seems excellent at pressing and winning possession high up the pitch.

Seems to have a great engine and works hard for the team.
My main concern is who plays up front if Isak gets injured. At the moment we only have Gakpo and I fear he’s on his way out, so whoever comes in surely has to be able to play up front as well as out wide.

What's Koumas' best position? He looked lively and hardworking when he came on, and has had a good preseason by all accounts, so it'd be nice to see him get game time in his preferred role.

To be fair, I see a very talented, hard-working, natural player in Koumas. His pressing and composure has been impressive in pre-season.

He's looked good. Hopefully he can get a good loan with plenty of game time at a decent level, as I think that is what he needs to continue developing. If we sign 2 wingers in the next couple of weeks, as is being widely reported, then his opportunities will be very limited if he stays.

With Mbaye counting as under 21 he doesn't take Chiesa's non-HG spot which means Araujo takes it and we have no issues.
Could also see Endo and Elliot moved on.

Wharton is a DM and keep although I love Fede might be what happens eventually.
Need to replace Endo with a non-marquee player.

If Wharton does come in there's only a couple of ways to get him in the team.

He plays centre mid instead of Grav, or he and Grav play as the two holding midfielders and Szob pushes into the ten instead of Wirtz.

Although I'd prefer Wirtz be successful for us, I think we'd be way too lightweight with Wharton, Szob and Wirtz in the team together.

Wharton, Grav and Szob would be marginally better.

That's assuming we get Wharton, that seems to be possible although getting him out of Palace at this stage of the window may not be realistic.

I don't see Wharton as that much of an upgrade on Nyoni in the medium term. He is not a ball winner. Sadiki for me. Cover for Isak will be Barcola, Munoz, Cody and Kumas. And from January onwards it will be Hugo.

I wouldn't be worried about it, the team's not fit, Iraola's ball is high tempo, there's going to be a lot of rotation.

EDs or anyone. I'm fully aware that the new minority owners can't pump money in for signings. Just like Newcastle and Villa ownerships can't.

But my question is. I'm aware the club has debt. Don't think it's mega like Utds billion and some. But we must be playing interest and payments.

If they came in and cleared the debt to zero. The repayment values will then go as profit. Not paying £10m a month out is now £10m a month staying in. Is that a way where their investment could go towards signings.

Obviously made up figures. But theory the same.

I don't think we are that deep in debt. I recall that FSG loaned us money for the stadium, but it was interest free. Not sure if it has been fully paid up though.

Both Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye will travel to Liverpool this week to undergo medical and complete the final stages of signing for Liverpool.

There's another player to add before the end of the window ?.

Ps I had nothing until tonight on Mbaye so whoever called this last week ?.

Not a bad way to end the week with a 2-0 win.

As I said before the team came out, Barcola wasn’t going to be in the squad. Currently packing his travel bag.

Mbaye being left out too is interesting. Has VG been feeding us a little transfer dessert? ? I honestly don’t know on that one, but worth watching.



Still watching movement around Lamine Camara… Makes a lot of sense for us.

And one defender watch… Diomande. 22, right-sided CB at Sporting. Forest have been working on him and we could jump on that one late.

Barcola + Mbaye progressing really well, the previous timeline I mentioned still stands, next week is going to be the one.

We will also look to add a midfielder, Wharton is still a strong possibility, Gavi is another mentioned, however, I'd like a destroyer in and haven't really heard of any credible links.



The search for an opportunistic cover for Isak also goes on (could be the last deal like I mentioned) but if not, the club will probably use Wirtz/Barco;a/Munoz in there.

Gakpo just made his case even stronger tonight. Unsure we sell for even 80M now.

Went to the game, SK, he was immense. Composed, strong on and off the ball, good in the air, and could pick a pass out. He looks the real deal. Excited to watch this lad.

With all the advanced cameras and computing power, it won’t be long before you will be able to buy a virtual seat at Anfield, so opening up more revenue as each seat could be sold to multiple people with atmospheric sound. It would be the next best thing to being there.

Solid first impression from Munoz for me. ?

Only a friendly, but it was a really solid first impression for me.

His movement was sharp, intelligent runs, always looking to get in behind and the resemblance to Jota is actually weird, not just how he plays, he genuinely has a look of him too.

Mannerisms, style, the lot. It's uncanny. ?

Fits Iraola's way of playing perfectly, works hard, no fuss. Early days still, but a really promising start, definitely one to keep an eye on. ?

Is he overweight, or has he bulked up? I remember reading an article where it was written he bulked up to get physically stronger. Agree though, it looks weird. However, the coaches would have sorted it out by now, if there was something they didn't want.
