So the prem now takes a back seat and we have a World Cup by the end of the week. A very bizarre situation but hopefully the football is good.

How the World Cup is treated as a whole will be interesting but only time will tell.

On the footballing side, what’s everyone’s opinions for Englands chances? Personally I can see them going out in the groups of last 16. I really don’t think they will me making a huge impact on the business end.

Who are people backing to win it?

Cant see anyone other than Brazil winning it. France, Belgium and Argentina all with a chance. England will suffer as Southgate isn't brave enough. Last 16 maybe.

I hope Uruguay win it and Nunez finishes as top scorer. That'd give him so much confidence going into the 2nd half of the season.

Couldn't care less about England. Trent and Hendo will barely kick a ball.

There's a world cup about to start?
Scouse not English. Don't hate me, I just don't give a toss.

I'll have half an eye on Uruguay. But that's about it.

1st time in my life I couldn’t care about a wc is a sham!

I've always said (tongue in cheek) that I'd rather Liverpool win a corner than England win the World Cup but, I'm English, so I want England to win. I don't get the anti English feeling, but every one to their own. That said, I don't think we have a cat in hell's chance.

7.) 14 Nov 2022
14 Nov 2022 11:14:41
Not English. Not arsed. In fact, not arsed about this dreadful, money-grabbing excuse of a WC.

{Ed025's Note - I’m English but feel the same way oli..

I'm scottish so I know what it . eans when someone says they're not arsed who wins it been that long since we were there 1998 I believe so the old joke still stands what do you call a Scotsman at the world Cup answer REF.

I’m actually looking forward to watching some football as a neutral where my emotions won’t go from one end of the spectrum to the next. And if I’m not enjoying a game I can switch it off and I’m not having to shuffle my work / life balance around to watch my beloved team.

Hopefully the games are exciting and teams trying to win them making it a spectacle for viewers.

As I won’t or can’t attend these games the next month the World Cup will literally be a 4 week tv show for me.

Im English and im hoping anyone except France, Portugal or England wins it.

Whoever the winner is, it won’t bring back the thousands of poor workers sacrificed by Qatar to make their shiny new stadiums.

I'm looking forward to it. Belgium and their "golden generation " of players have flattered to deceive so far, I can't see that changing. Spain and Germany are a no for me also, France possibly, not too many South American teams to get excited about really but maybe Brazil could win. Croatia to do ok. Hoping some of the minnows can cause an upset on the way. Plenty of goals and no contentious decisions ??.

I’m pretty glad the season has entered a break tbh.
Gives us chance to get Diaz, Jota, Matip etc back fit.

I’ll watch some of the World Cup from the couch, try and see if there’s any decent Midfielders we might be linked with! My prediction is Argentina and Messi.

The joys of listening to 'its coming home' for the next few weeks, can't buckin wait ??.

Senegal if they can get Mane fit.

I am from the US but I'm zero that they will do any good. I really do like a lot of our young players mostly playing in Europe versus the crappy MLS. Our coach is about as bright as Southgate so there's a little hope.

17.) 14 Nov 2022
14 Nov 2022 15:59:47
I’m supporting Nunez and Uruguay. Would love it for Nunez to finish with the golden boot.

Hoping for Messi to win it. Fitting for the player he's been love. Tremendous player. If all goes to plan, we go out to France in the 1/ 4s so Southgate will have to wait two more years for his next semi.

Always cheered England on. But between the manager (personality and tactics), the players he picks (injured and or out of form) and his treatment of Trent, I can't get behind this team. He'll pick the likes of Maguire Sterling and we'll flatter to deceive. With the way he plays (3 CBs), Trent should be is right sided wing back all day every day.

rgentina to win it for me. Messi is on fire this season and he has a great supporting cast.

Nunez Golden Boot
Brazil win for the confidence and kudos for Alisson and Fabinho.

{Ed025's Note - golden size 28 clown shoe more like BBB.. :)

I'm A. B. E. couldn't tolerate the English media talking about winning the world cup come Easter.

Still carping about Nunez Ed025. He’s actually getting a good scoring record going and was excellent over the weekend. Maybe put a sock in it and concentrate on your woeful lot.

{Ed025's Note - im just lowering your expectations tom, you reds seem to have this penchant of building your players up if they have a decent game or two, next thing you know he will be in the "world class" bracket mate, now im not one for raining on peoples parades but i am a realist and need to see a hell of a lot more from him if he is to reach the dizzy heights of mediocrity..

Imagine if England won, it’ll be rammed down our throats forever, worst of all Sir Greath Kon*gate. No thanks,

England unable to win a tournament away form these shores.

14 Nov 2022 22:01:03
Born in Liverpool here so I will watch the World Cup as it’s been a habit since 1986 so I will watch it I do not support England in anyway shape or form but I like to watch good football and pick a side . I prefer our players have good tournaments and come back healthy first and foremost. I’m going to be hoping the Brazilian lads do well so I hope either Uruguay, Brazil or Holland win it for me . I wish Ireland had qualified as I enjoyed 94.

24.) 14 Nov 2022
14 Nov 2022 22:07:01
Actually. Think about it, if England win, Gareth Southgate is suddenly the “greatest coach ever” and he then ends up at United or City.

25.) 14 Nov 2022
14 Nov 2022 22:20:13
You don’t need to worry Hogan, England have no chance. They might just scrape out of the group.

26.) 15 Nov 2022
15 Nov 2022 01:43:36
When Maguire is going but Tommori is not even in the squad it sums up Gareth Waistcoat very nicely indeed.

Also his Pathetic comments regarding the workers wanting the world cup to be played should have been treated with the contempt it deserved.

This is going to be the most shameful world cup in Living memory following on Nicely from the previous one in Russia.

Who gets the next one after that North Korea?

27.) 15 Nov 2022
15 Nov 2022 03:16:35
Now Ed025, don’t be at it. We only build our players up when they’ve won the Champions League and PL ?.

{Ed025's Note - i dont believe coco has won any of those WDW.. :)

28.) 15 Nov 2022
15 Nov 2022 08:37:22
Who gets the next World Cup KK7?
Whoever offers the biggest pile of cash off the books to FIFA.
North Korea or Russia wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

VVVV - I'd like to know what will happen to all those shiny new stadiums when the WC is over.
