Wirtz is simply not good enough for this league. He cost a tremendous amount of money and cannot make a simple 5 yard pass. Honestly he looks lost. I think he needs to be sold ASAP. he's had over a year to adapt to the league and its physicality and just hasn't.

Losses need to be cut on him sadly. Try and get something like what was paid for him in January and reinvest. he's so poor, I cannot believe its th same player that tore it up in Germany.

Bundesliga is our championship league if Wirtz fails that will be two failures which cost around 180 million. We got one player from Bundesliga who was world class and cost 10 million Bobby F we got a free center back from Bundesliga who won it all with Bobby.
So why can't the scouts look for these type of players at reasonable transfers.

Watched 20 mins so far and it's truly woeful, midfield has absolutely no control over the game. Team as a collective is awful and Wirtz is just about the worst of the lot. He cannot control even the most simple of passes towards him, let alone actually make a successful pass. I don't see him turning it around, looks like he's lost out there.

Watched Brighton V Arsenal ( highlights MOTD ) last night.

Wow Brighton's press was impressive the way they made the space narrow was clever. Arsenal and Man united could not deal with it.

Yeah jlc it's the inconsistency is the killer. To me rice decision is correct, a yellow card. it slight kick never going to do any damage to opponent. Foden + rat also should've been a yellow each imo.

Rio no where near England standards at the moment this will only give his reps amunition for a new contract or a move. So not so great news he needs to learn more at Liverpool before going with England.

Florian Am not sure there is any agenda against Rio or any other of our players.
But Rio should not be in England squad yet he is far too inconsistent and at the minute very little end product.

But he is just turned 18 and needs time to develop with Barcola Gakpo and Munoz he should get minutes from the bench with 20 minutes or so to go when players are tired so he has a little more time to learn how to make the right decisions.


If England don't have players that are of a higher current level than Rio they are in trouble he should be in the u21 now.

Florian Rio has a lot of talent but it is not put together right at this time he needs to gain experience at his own club not at full internationals this gives his agents the power to go into negotiations for a new contract when he is not the finished article.

It has nothing to do with me having a go at Rio or any other young player but hoping for Rio to achieve his full potential in time.

He has done an amazing job with Como but by the sounds of it he is just one name on a list and that the most likely outcome at this stage will be an internal appointment with Julian Ward, David Woodfine, Pedro Marques and Matt Newberry all possibilities.

Others apparently being looked at are Christoph Freund @ Bayern (very highly unlikely), Lee Dykes @ Brentford and Tiago Pinto @ Bournemouth.

Really interesting article in The Athletic about Lucca Brughamans and what makes him so special.

Some excerpts below (all from an article written by Matt Pyzdrowski for The Athletic):

"This is not a signing of a finished product. It is a bet on what Brughmans can become"

"His physical profile is similar." [to Courtois] ".but the way he moves and solves problems in goal give him a skill set that is distinctly his own."

"He is incredibly quick for his size, but the more interesting quality is his flexibility. There is a looseness to the way he moves that allows him to manipulate his long limbs rather than fight against them. He can change his body shape quickly, get his hands down, and orientate himself around the ball in a way that is not typical for a 'keeper of his size. That is what makes his shot-stopping so intriguing."

"When his positioning is good, Brughmans does not need to make a spectacular save because his body is already taking away so much of the target. Shots hit close to him can disappear into his chest, legs or feet, while his frame becomes part of the save. His agility allows him to make the explosive movements that you would normally associate with a smaller 'keeper, while his frame gives him the natural coverage of a much bigger one.

That combination is rare."

The article also goes on to highlight the similarities with Alisson in terms of his distribution - "He can find a striker's body, allowing them to secure the ball and either turn or lay it off to an advancing team-mate, and can also go wider, to find wingers running beyond the opposition's back line." - but he also has a great arm - "Brughmans can throw the ball a long way, and do so accurately enough to initiate attacks before the other team has had time to reset."

Just like Alisson.

There's a lot of development to go and he will make mistakes, but what he needs most of all is more experience, which is the reason for the loan back as he is first choice now. He will need to find the balance between strengthening his body for the physical demands of the EPL, whilst not losing the speed, loose-limbedness, and dynamism which means he can get down to the low shots as well as a much shorter keeper.

Really exciting prospect, so pleased we did the deal and looking forward to seeing if he can fill the biggest of GK gloves!

I actually thought that ndiaye looked very very good in preseason just like ndukwe did so i'm surprised he's not been involved with the 1st team a little bit more. Certainly got a good future with us hopefully.
