Djed Spence gone to Inter. Damn shame he went for so cheap we could of really done with him but I guess Spurs wouldn’t of wanted to sell to us.

Araujo is cb and rb back up buddy.

12 Aug 2026 17:02:44
Not done yet? Circa £24 million fee, just turned 26.

He is a practising Muslim, and made history to be the first Muslim player to represent the senior England team?

Poster who called the Matty Cash (29) link to LFC, maybe an inkling tonight if he plays for Villa in the UEFA Super Cup final tonight versus PSG, TNT 8pm, obviously the PSG line up is far more important for some posters?

12 Aug 2026 19:38:28
Both our lads are on the PSG bench.

12 Aug 2026 20:18:24
Not injured then. So much disinformation out there at the moment. Also why even bench him if the transfer is done.

12 Aug 2026 22:54:51
People wanting Spence when Inter got him on the cheap and arguing Jones is not good enough because only Inter want him on the cheap...

12 Aug 2026 15:40:15
Enjoy the break VG pal and hope to see you back soon.

I hope VGs break isn't the 3rd of our trusted and long lasting ITKs driven away.

Thanks.

Inter are welcome to Spence, just an average player who had a couple of decent moments in a WC - plus quite a few bad moments.

12 Aug 2026 10:00:06
Looks like Liverpool are pulling out of the Barcola deal. They won't budge on fee, so it wasn't done like what's been posted. Arsenal to step in.

12 Aug 2026 11:06:34
The new targets are Arda Turan and Konoplyanka.
But only if Chelsea haven't got there first.

12 Aug 2026 12:43:29
As long as they do correct business that benefits the team, that's all I care about. I'm not happy that we're taking so long to do so though, with wet that's wrapping up Barcola or walking away and going for someone else.

12 Aug 2026 12:52:51
Shame if we walk away, but if they're asking for £140m as is being reported, it's the right decision.

Replacing Gakpo with Barcola always felt like a luxury anyway. A natural RW is a bigger priority. I wonder if we'll shift to Mbaye now?

12 Aug 2026 13:01:48
But if it is true and the club has known this was the case for the last month, then it is an absolute joke.
If it is true, we should have walked away weeks ago and moved on to other targets. We will have to overpay for anybody at this point in the window as teams don't have much time to get replacements in.

12 Aug 2026 13:52:51
I disagree with that, Shipley.

If we identify a player as someone we want, we should exhaust all avenues before moving on.

Klopp was always an advocate of signing the player you want or signing no one. Building a successful squad takes time and patience. If we end up with too many 4th and 5th choice targets, we'll be back to the Brendan Rodgers days.

12 Aug 2026 14:17:10
Yeah, takes City ages to sort squads out and replace players Riosste, oh wait ...

12 Aug 2026 14:41:22
Shipley, transfers don't work like that.
Don't think we are solely focussing on Barcola.
What a club does is go after their primary targets but sound out secondary and back up targets as well.
If the Barcola deal falls through, rest assured we will not have to start the whole wooing process of somebody from scratch.

Agents and clubs will have been sounded out already.
Because there doesn't seem to be any announced progress on the Barcola deal, I am also of the belief that it's all but done pending the Torres and Ajax lads deals.
If that's not the case, and they are holding out for the 140 million, I would rather we switch targets.

12 Aug 2026 15:59:46
My point is simply that if the asking price is somehow a surprise to us, and we are not willing to meet it after all these discussions, then there is something really wrong with our negotiating team.

12 Aug 2026 16:32:00
Yes, OK, City do take ages to sort squads out, which is why they haven't won the league since they started to build a new squad.

They are going through players like sweets in an attempt to build a winning squad, but they are still nowhere near where they were a few years ago.

It happens to all teams when they have a rebuild.

We are coming off the back of a successful team with a great squad and are having to replace big players that were integral to our success. You can't do that by just buying anyone to appease fickle fans.

Sometimes you have to be patient. Tough, I know, but it's the truth.

12 Aug 2026 17:13:09
Just get Rayan asap and move on.

12 Aug 2026 20:26:14
An asking price of c140 has been reported on and off since the start of the saga.

That doesn't mean it's right, but that is a figure that's been bandied about so it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

The thought process is probably that when they secure replacements and have to shell out some cash, they'll be more eager to sell, more inclined to drop the asking price, particularly if they get those replacements for the price they want to pay.

12 Aug 2026 08:50:06

Liverpool are very very close to walking away from the Barcola deal.

PSG, despite their recent activity, are not budging and the deal is on a knife edge.

Cheers.

Go full pelt for Ferran T and Godtz now.

12 Aug 2026 09:18:13

VG said it was already done.

12 Aug 2026 09:25:06

We will have to see, won't we? Maybe we will sign him, maybe we won't sign him. One thing I can guarantee is that it isn't 'done', and we're waiting for PSG to say it's ok to announce a new £100m player while he still trains with them

If he doesn't come, we move on from this shambles.

12 Aug 2026 09:26:34
Liverpool are actively looking at bringing in Matty Cash as well as Bradley Barcola. From a family friend.

12 Aug 2026 09:31:23
It was done weeks ago, just waiting for permission from our masters in France before we can announce it.

12 Aug 2026 09:31:43
But u said that Barcola has led Liverpool on and he was agreeing terms with Arsenal. So is there a deal? Was there a deal? Also the post in which u spoke the same crap was magically deleted last time somebody asked u about this. But keep scaremongering the people on here. ?

12 Aug 2026 09:31:44
Why is it a shambles? This kind of thing happens all the time with every club.

You try to sign a player but negotiations don't go well and break down. It's par for the course and anything but a shambles.

The only shambles is the fans wanting blow by blow updates and cast iron guarantees and then losing their heads when it doesn't go how they wanted.

12 Aug 2026 09:36:34
I am starting to get a bit bored of this, I hope it's done, VG and Robbo have said all along it is and I trust them, but I just want it announced.

But playing devil's advocate, and if it's not done, and PSG are asking too much or they've changed the goal posts, we need to walk away and go for someone else.

To be honest, the two signings we have made came out of the blue so maybe things are happening in the background.

12 Aug 2026 09:46:31
Last signing we made that anyone had any clue about was last summer. Jaquet in January was totally out of the blue as well.

12 Aug 2026 09:50:26
Yawn.

12 Aug 2026 09:53:07
Vyor01, only the administrators of the site have the ability to delete posts. Some of my replies or comments have been posted then deleted. I can only guess because the content wasn't approved, albeit I have never intended to disrespect anyone, and if it has come across in such a way I apologise.

Nonetheless, Arsenal were 100% trying to convince Barcola and he was tempted. I also posted days later that AI had spoken to BB and convinced him again that the Liverpool project is a better direction for him. It was following that discussion that BB committed verbally to Liverpool.

If Liverpool don't get the deal done, there is still a very strong chance Arsenal come in for him.

But what I can say with certainty, Barcola to Liverpool is Not a done deal.

Cheers.

DjimiT.

12 Aug 2026 10:02:15
But, u didn't say that Arsenal were speaking or trying. u said that Barcola has led Liverpool on. And, u also did the there is going to be very bad news in the next 48 hours cryptic thing. I don't know about the deal, u do not either, but u are trying to scaremonger the people on here.

12 Aug 2026 10:02:56
Go away, man, adding you to the ignore list. You flip flop worse than our Transfer team!

12 Aug 2026 10:11:25
We have known Salah has been leaving for a long long time. We have known that we have needed cover at right back for nearly a full season. Barcola deal aside. This window has been a bit of a mess because we have failed to address first team issues, never mind addressing a poorly balanced squad that lacks depth.
However, the window is not over yet, and I would like to hope we have a number of suitable alternatives lined up instead of Barcola. I am more disappointed by us not signing a full back and a DM.
I've had a sneaking suspicion that Barcola might not happen. It's clear that there is a gap in valuations and we will not meet their price. Whilst I respect the ITK's and enjoy reading their posts, I think they might have jumped a bit soon on this one. I am not trying to put anyone down, or antagonise anyone. I just think that on this occasion they could potentially be wrong. But I hope not.

12 Aug 2026 10:14:29
DjimiT is well within his rights to post differing opinions and conflicting rumours.

He's not calling anyone out by stating facts. It's great having so many people posting rumours, but we need to stop pitting 'ITK' posters against each other. Carra, Robbo, Macca, Thefields, and VictorG have been very reliable at times in the past, but so far this summer not one transfer they've called has been announced. That's not rude, that's a fact. Munoz and Araujo weren't mentioned once by anyone until the much maligned Fabrizio Romano broke the news.

Ultimately, it's a rumours site and nobody should be getting grief for passing on a rumour in good faith, even if it ends up being wrong. It's quite clear Barcola is not done though, given he's in the PSG squad for today's game. It's pretty clear Diomande was never done, given he's now playing for Real Madrid. It's pretty clear Konsa, Tomori, and Kounde aren't signing, given we've now signed Araujo.

Just, let everyone and anyone post their rumours and opinions on what might happen without taking it personally on the behalf of the 'ITK' posters you prefer. DjimiT saying it's not done isn't an attack on someone who says it is done, it's a differing opinion and one that right now, seems pretty factually accurate.

I think there are a lot of people on here who are genuine and post what they hear from real sources, but ultimately things do change and two different people involved in the negotiaitons might even have different views. Therefore, until it's announced, it is just a rumour and should be treated as such. It's fun, so why are we trying to make something fun into a soap opera by keeping tabs on who is the most 'ITK'?

12 Aug 2026 10:22:24
Well said, MK - these ITK wars are childish and tedious. We're 2 weeks out from the season starting and somehow this site is focused on arguing about the definition of "Done"!!

12 Aug 2026 10:48:01
Vyor01, where did I say Barcola had led Liverpool on? His head was turned. AI turned it back. Not that hard to understand.

The bad news as I've posted recently was Macca wanting out. Albeit there is a difference in opinion as to whether that constitutes as bad news.

Nonetheless, my total understanding based on factual knowledge is that Barcola is not 'done'. There is also a very very good chance we walk away if things don't change very quickly.

Cheers

DjimiT

12 Aug 2026 11:12:05
Play nice, boys. Djimi has said things. You can agree or disagree. You can believe it or not believe it. You can point out contradictions. But play nice.

12 Aug 2026 11:28:10
Blame it on Traore!

12 Aug 2026 12:31:54
If we refuse to pay what PSG want, then I can't see Arsenal paying that kind of money, as they refused to pay up for their number one target Rogers.

12 Aug 2026 12:36:00
Pure coincidence this claim gets posted just 20 mins after Trashtalk posted the story?! Decide for yourself.

12 Aug 2026 17:30:03
What could a manager who has only just walked through the door do about last season's problems (Salah, Bradley etc)? He has inherited a total mess at all levels of the club. One of his very first messages was we clearly need players. That was a kindergarten tour of the USA he was in charge of.

The World Cup was the biggest culprit, as they all had a year off preparing for it for starters last season, bar a few, and have been coming back in dribs and drabs for this season.

You can't expect him to replace Salah with a magic wand, the leading goal scorer for the last 8 out of 9 seasons.

Riostepover is correct. You have to be patient, some people want the moon, but they haven't made ladders long enough yet?

12 Aug 2026 20:39:16
Truth in much of what you say 007. I would add, though, we've needed a right back for ages as Connor misses at least half of each season, and it was known that Mo was well off it all season and would need replacing.

The World Cup was also a known factor, and given we did next to nothing in Jan transfer, we could and should have moved quicker to source a RB and RW earlier in the window.

I'm guessing here, but it does genuinely look like the decision to sack Arne was taken late on, maybe even after the fabled end of season review was done.

We've then had to redraw some of the transfer target list which has set us back. We've also over focused on a few players in Diomande and now Barcola which has sucked in more time and effort than predicted, and we don't really need Barcola unless we sell Cody.

Just looks like transfer decision making hasn't been the best, and left us scrambling a bit, which wont have helped Iraola.

12 Aug 2026 08:28:50
Failed at the first attempt because I forgot to dispute a suggestion. Barcola will not be signing for £140m because Barr Cola is already available at the club tuck shop for £2.49 a litre.

I think the Banter page is being overrun by rumours and IDFC debates.

So, if you can’t beat them, join them …

I have worked out that you start with agreeing established ITK rhetoric. Dispute maybe one transfer they have suggested and throw a random name in there to give one’s post credibility.

Then sign off with a snappy strapline, so here goes.

We are going to sign Shaun Ryder for Happy Meal bday night football, The Cure for Friday’s and the Sunday’s for …
The Weather Girls will play most games but probably benched for when it is raining.

That’s all for now pop pickers!

Is it possible that Liverpool are waiting for the 30% takeover to be completed this week before spending large amounts on transfers so that we don’t have to utilise expensive rolling credit facilities?
Somebody mentioned this to me yesterday.

Agree1

12 Aug 2026 09:34:22
The money from the takeover goes to FSG - not the club. They may choose to put some of it back into the club, but it is not a given.

12 Aug 2026 09:50:34
I think Champs means Bezo and Co would have the cash to enable us to not have to use the expensive rolling credit facilities, Shipley. Whether that's right or not, I don't know. I'm a kfa about finances.

12 Aug 2026 12:41:00
Absolutely not.

11 Aug 2026 20:47:00
Long time lurker.

Following the to and fro on here on Barcola.....It seems to be 'done', but not 'done done'.

I regularly goes 'out' but not 'out out' but eventually I ends up on the wrong last train and getting stuffed for d**khead taxi fare home and it seems logical that the ending to this Barcola story is we do eventually get him home but only after paying the PSG d**khead tax at the end of the window.

If it was my money, the wife would be f**king pissed at me, but it's not so hey ho. :)

I liked Josh Williams' assessment of Conceicao as a potential right winger. He's currently value at €40m–€50m (£34m–£43m).

Agree4

11 Aug 2026 20:15:11
Still wouldn't want him. He said he was slight, and not going to be a threat in behind in terms of pace. He did say he was very technical and had a surprisingly good output. We already have Wirtz, and it seems clear to me AI wants pace... I would like Rayan or M'Baye.

11 Aug 2026 21:35:57
I've been saying for a while now that the 3 best options on the market in terms of profile are Neto, Minteh and Conceicao. Mbaye coming onto the market is interesting because he is a different profile entirely to the other 3, but he probably has the highest ceiling and is still a RW, despite being very different to the 3 left footers.

11 Aug 2026 23:23:37
Neto and Minteh?

I think you need to aim higher, MK.

12 Aug 2026 07:51:31
You should watch the Josh Williams analysis video that the OP is referring to, Riosstepover.

There is no higher to aim at. Those are literally the best options who are available right now, in terms of natural RW's. Give the video a watch. It perfectly breaks down my thought process. So much so, I started to wonder if he was inside my head.

12 Aug 2026 08:29:49
Don't rate Minteh personally, MK. I've seen him play a fair bit, being from down South East. My boss is a Brighton season ticket holder, and said he has non-stop running, but his end product is awful, both crossing and shooting.

12 Aug 2026 08:54:08
2shoes, He definitely lacks end product right now. He is only 21 though and his pressing and ball carrying is superb. I think he's very coachable.

12 Aug 2026 09:25:56
Interesting, MK Scouser, that was your take away. He said Nero is the best, but probably overpriced and doesn't have the output you want, and at 25 isn't going to get much better.

My take away was I would rather us spend on potential and sign one of Rayan (itk have confirmed fee would be closer to £70m than £130m) or M'Baye who fit the mould better and have a higher ceiling.

12 Aug 2026 09:58:25
MoT, he put Rayan as an 'Amber' because he is most likely not available, and he also stated he didn't think Rayan's stats graph was indicative of a player we should be interested in.

Josh.W definitely seemed most impressed with Mbaye and Conceicao.

I like Mbaye, to be clear. He's a totally different profile to the likes of Neto and Conceicao, but he's a very good young player with a lot of potential.

12 Aug 2026 10:13:01
Not disagreeing with you that Conceicao is a good player, just disagreeing that he is the type of profile the club wants... But that's the beauty of football, we all look for different qualities in players and have different opinions.

FYI, you're right he did say Rayan was "Amber" but he did say he probably has a higher ceiling. From my perspective I love my wide men to be fast and direct.

12 Aug 2026 12:43:20
The lad can't even put up decent numbers in Italy. Why on earth anyone would want him in the Prem is completely beyond me.
