For a bit of fun I looked at the xg for and against for the entire season to see how many points we should have by now. I know statistics can be misleading and with world class goalie and world class strikers ? we should do slightly better than the xg. 80 points should be still right in the mix?.

Banter: Mo Salah vs Klopp, what you guys think and whose side you on? I am on Kloop's side. Salah not been playing well.

Klopp should have sent Salah back to his seat. Weather Salah has been playing good or bad doesn’t matter it’s all about respect. Am sure it’s not the first time this has happened but to do it before going on and in front of millions of people is just wrong it need to be done behind closed doors.

28 Apr 2024 08:54:02
Klopp has gone from pushing a peer mid game to arguing in public with our most high profile player. Clearly the emotive nature of failing to hit his targets and the realisation that it will all be over forevermore in a matter of days has got to him.
That said and in the context of a workplace per se you don't square up to your boss.
Anyway will all be irrelevant come the start of the new season as neither will be in situ. Sadly or otherwise.

Think this is second time this season slight dispute between the two (was it earlier in the season when he was subbed early when chasing? ), on face of it tbh bit more being made than it is maybe? can side with both, salah’s form has been woeful (see how badly he played the ball behind nunez to break a decent chance) and we have played woeful for a large part of the season from what looks like tactical decisions.

Think calling Salah a primadonna is unfair - has consistently worked hard for the team and tracked back (doesn’t just goal poach or stroll around like a certain winger from the NW) . Chalk it up to frustration and hyper-competitiveness, imagine vast majority of athletes / managers / coaches who reach level they have are probably fairly combustible. Klopp deserves his legend status, but like with salah isn’t without criticism especially this season.

Not advocating throwing the baby out with the bath water - but maybe a sign in might be time for a new chapter for LFC without both?

Slightly venture off course, but did make me think shows how incredible what CR7 has managed to do for so long. Slightly contradictory as was a poacher - but from early twenties to mid 30s his stats hardly dipped, plus numerous occasions when needed produced miracles (hat trick for juv in second leg to take out A Madrid or hat trick against Spain at WC) . Added to that 16 years of double figures in leagues in Europe.

TSM, this spat would have been brewing for some time. I can imagine what klopp protrays in front of media as fatherly fair figure and what he is in front of players especially when player interestbis in concern, can be very fustrating for players. There has to be outlet for players to vent their frustration, like 360 deg feedback.

But yes, Salah probably know next season he is gone and there is no repercussion with klopp and Liverpool.

But it indicates lack of channel for players to express frustration.

How can we take aside without having a clue what happened? I’ll offer a take with and without speculation.

1-just based on what we saw, Mo is in the wrong. You leave that for in private

2-speculating - I think Mo has been upset all day. Whatever Klopp said to him has tipped him over the edge. Unless Klopp has said something insulting to Mo about him, his family or his dog, then there is no reason for that reaction other than Mo’s feelings. So again, he is in the wrong.

Finally, happy for Mo to go. I was a minor voice on here calling for him to be sold over extending his contract. Legend player for the club but have always wanted more in the game from him as our “star” player.

Maybe it would of been ok if Salah actually came on and did something but it was the same Salah performance you come to expect these days - he just looks like he has no confidence to even try and beat a man - think Dom come on yesterday and beat like 2/ 3 West Ham players on the right edge of the box, don’t get me wrong nothing came about it but at least he backed himself to beat someone. I keep saying it hopefully now we are out of the title conversation we start playing nicer football, the players going probably know who they are so play the boys who are staying. Or even a F it mentally and go out how you came in with heavy metal first 20 minutes just all over teams if the older midfield could do it up until the last season I’m sure the younger midfield and front line can! Just want to be able to smile watching LFC again and not get angry with what seems a lack of want!

28 Apr 2024 12:32:34
Will be very interesting to see if he is picked again this season. I don’t think Klopp will hold a grudge but I don’t think Salah deserves to be in the starting 11 and he obviously can’t take being a sub so maybe that’s his last ever appearance for LFC. Bit if a shame if that’s the case.

{Ed025's Note - hopefully it will get sorted WM, in private i suspect with a groveling apology from Mo i would think mate..

I am reading that Slot likes to play inverted fullbacks. Please god no. someone tell me I've got this wrong.
Alongside the bore off style of play a lack of offensive width has been our biggest issue.

He has a tactical philosophy very similar to his good friend pep. Linders.

28 Apr 2024 10:28:40
No he doesn't.

28 Apr 2024 10:43:25
Westwood - Width wouldn’t be an issue if our wingers played wide and could dribble. Well Diaz can, the fullah on the other side however ?.

Not the worst performance today as West Ham are a good side on their day. However, I'm so bitterly disappointed in Klopp and Salah. Two absolute legends and probably the highest paid people at the club. It's petulant, it's pathetic and worst of all, it's what their last season will be remembered for. They've both just had their 'Gerrard slip' moment. Good grief, you can literally hear our rivals already. This will be meme fuel for years. "Remember the year Klopp lost the dressing room and Liverpool bottled the title? "

It's beyond embarrassing when it goes past the performances on the pitch and extends to the way they're representing our club. Salah having to be held back by the way, is shocking. He'd never play for me again if I were Klopp. That's a sackable offence in the real world regardless of what he's said to wind him up. You don't try and square up to anyone at work, never mind your bloody boss.

I'm going to bed, someone wake me up in June when this sh@t show is over, because I've had enough.

Seen someone elsewhere say klopp lost his power when he announced he was leaving. Easy for the players to give up when they know he's leaving because he won't be here anyway mentality.

28 Apr 2024 01:44:56
Just said exactly the same in another post MK, he wouldn't play again for me either, never in a million years. Shocking.

28 Apr 2024 03:04:51
Salah has been poor for a while . n i love Klopp but who knows what's been happening behind the scenes . looks like two of them are at each other . maybe be bit more professional but emotions kick in . we seem to have completely capitulated. luckily enough we got enough pts on board fr champs league next year.

28 Apr 2024 07:56:45
I know not too many will agree with me but I think a bit of aggression and a row is something we've probably needed about 3 weeks ago. we don't know what goes on behind dressing doors but we been sleep walking threw games as if nobody gave a hoot. Tempers SHOULD be frayed as it shows bit of personal pride if nothing else. In a team sport a row can be good albeit it far too late now.
Media will blow it out of proportion and over analysis it. U would prefer it not klopp+ salah as both probably leaving and 2 club legends but I seen more life in salahs 15 or mins performance than I've seen with him in ages. Anger+aggression imo is what we've been missing recently more so than any tactics.

28 Apr 2024 10:45:06
Digger- that’s a fair shout. On a slightly separate note, in the minute or two before Antonio equalised Inwas thinking we needed someone to stick a boot in and kill the flow they were building up. Bit of mongrel and attitude would have been helpful hahaha.

27 Apr 2024 21:49:47
Watching Ipswich Hull. Do the Eds think that Slot arriving will alter what happens with Carvalho and some of the others in the fringe? Or will Edwards do that? It's maybe a good chance for him, Sepp, Billy, etc to be re-evaluated l?

{Ed001's Note - they will all be evaluated I am sure.}

I keep on hearing fans complaining all over social media how Klopp's ending the final season ?

He has just won the Carling cup and probably will finish in top 3 how is that bad?

Seems some fans have just lost their minds ?.

It's just youngsters who play football manager and are on social media at any given time to knock people. It's the new modern world. It's so cool apparently. Not all youngsters may I add.

27 Apr 2024 19:45:18
Start of the season we’d all of taken it. However, when your still in all four competitions in march after winning one, only ending with the caraboa cup is going to be a disappointment. Some reactions may be seen as OTT, but I understand the frustration.

27 Apr 2024 21:01:22
It's not bad, but it's not great either.

28 Apr 2024 02:10:24
It's not good and you can't sugarcoat sh*t. We're not in a good place and that's as simple as it gets. We are capable and were capable of winning the lot but we bottled it at the last hurdle. It's not just youngsters having a dig it's people who are simply frustrated by recent results and you can't blame people for that. It's the passion we have for a team we love and follow week in week out so to see us fall off like we have done is bound to do peoples heads in.

28 Apr 2024 10:09:23
Simple equation, Villa and Spurs win all of their remaining games and we lose ours, we miss out on champions league football again. Given our shocking form at the moment that’s a genuine possibility. You can’t sugar coat that or pretend that’s ok.

28 Apr 2024 10:22:16
Salah mate that would be an achievement next season if we can finish 3rd with a trophy in the bag as Klopp said there's "more base for improvement for new manager coming in"

28 Apr 2024 10:29:13
Spurs won't win all their games.

28 Apr 2024 10:46:03
Salah - so you think this squad is worthy of a quadruple?

27 Apr 2024 15:38:48
It would be interesting to hear the players thoughts and opinions on the tactics and the way they have been asked to play.
Apart from Trent being allowed to drift into the middle of the park I don’t think the tactics actually suit any of out players and stifles them more than anything. All you have to do is look at macalister/ gakpo when played in their favoured positions and szobo before he joined us.
Maybe this is why they look so deflated on the pitch at the moment?

Agree5

27 Apr 2024 16:24:36
we started going downhill when Trent came back into the team.

27 Apr 2024 16:53:46
I agree.
Trying to play to Trent’s strengths at the detriment of the team.
So it would be interesting to know how the players feel about this.

27 Apr 2024 17:44:28
Gomez was having his best season for us in years playing himself back into the England squad. With Trent and Robbo back he's not featured nearly as much. Defensively we looked better with Bradley at RB. We look again like we did last year giving up great looks week in week out. Playing Trent central makes it so much easier for a side to defend in a low block and leaves us open to the same counter attacks time and time again. Maybe the players don't believe in how they are being asked to play. idk.

27 Apr 2024 19:05:35
How can you blame tactics when we were cruising until recently when injured players came back and couldn't replicate their 1st half form? The truth is Diaz Nunez and youngsters carried us when we had injuries but it wasn't sustainable hence lot's of hope's were put on Salah and jotas comeback but it didn't go according to the plan and Nunez and Diaz goals just dried up ?.

27 Apr 2024 20:30:03
I’m of the opinion that the rhythm was lost, we got injuries and the kids stepped up brilliantly, of which some have propelled themselves into the 1st team squad, kudus to them for taking the chances they got.

During that period, the senior pros rallied and covered any short fall re errors/ inexperience. When the senior players returned from their injuries, it was nearly all at the same time, the rhythm was lost getting up to speed - coupled with the players that played through the injury period started feeling the demands of the season physically possibly mentally too.

Also what appears to be overlooked imo, is the fact the engine room (midfield) has 2 players new to the league and country, possibly compounding the problem.

So here we are today, a cup and back in the champions league, we hoped for four trophies which in reality was a romantic vision.

We have come so far under the stewardship of JK, let’s thank him and give him a huge send off.

27 Apr 2024 21:37:14
We went downwards when Connor Bradley got injured and not been the same since.
