Wow some massive comments/ statements on here, look yesterday was utter crap, but if Gakpo had a bit more luck he would have scored a hat trick minimum. Salah looks poor at the moment and I have to say, I think we are watching the end of VVD amazing service at the club, he is not what he was. Couple that with the left back being new and still learning and the right back being young and possibly not prem level, we are not firing but the club will fix it.
Ekitike, Isak and Wirtz will all come good you will see.
{Ed078's Note - agree with the first half of your post and hope you're right about the second half.

Hitting the post isn’t bad luck, the goals don’t move. Hitting the post is still not a shot on target. Gakpo is an average footballer.

It’s actually harder to hit the goal post than the goal.

We’ll get smacked up on Wednesday aswel. You’ll sit down an hour before kick off look at the team sheet and think, we’re in for a long night here.
Game will kick off, no passes will stick, ball skidding off players feet, Salah touch awful.
Defenders will spread nerves around the team, concede. All sat there waiting for 75 minutes when he makes changes and our game finally starts. Then we’ll lose anyway. It’s boring.

He is very far from being an average footballer, he was our most dangerous player yesterday by some distance (which is not to say that he played well, that's just an objective fact) . That's what made it worse that he missed two absolute sitters and a handful of half chances, and it's hard to say whether the one on one or the header was the more egregious miss. He simply has to score at least one of those, given the game state.
What I don't really understand, though, is why it is always Gakpo holding the width and Kerkez underlapping. Whether Kerkez makes a run inside or outside doesn't seem to do anything anyway, everybody knows the ball isn't going to him, I'm wondering why we bought the best flying left back in the league when he is reduced to being such a non-factor in the opposing third.

If United had a bit more luck they might have scored 4 . Yes Gakpo missed an absolute sitter and we did deserve something out of the game but let’s not try and sugar coat our midfield and defensive frailties.
Loosing 4 in a row is not a good look, first time in 11 years. Any PL could score against us I think, given how bad we are.

Gakpo 2 shots that hit the post where unlucky, 2 excellent hits that beat the keeper all ends up and neither chance was in anyway easy.
His header at end was bad miss, should've hit target at the very least.
Not sure why gakpo being criticised he looked our best chance of a goal all day.

Times like this is when you have to remind yourselves of 3nil down to Milan and 3nil down to Barcelona.
Whem have we ever done things easy. It WILL get better. Dropping 9 sports on the spin stings hard but that's the nature of the game and despite performances being pants all those losses were marginal and not trouncings. We will improve and hopefully soon and whem we do improve goals will flow.
We cannot turn into forest fans or united fans and be calling for the managers head. That is totally ridiculous.
Next couple weeks will hurt even if we win all games because I for one HATE losing to rat faced brigade.
BUT
YNWA.

I don't think Virgil is over at all. His form is a symptom of the chaos around him. Kerkez looks lost next to him and doesn't communicate. Konate heads the ball to the opposition every time and only does his defensive job 1 game out of every 4. Bradley gets 0 cover from his winger. The midfield has absolutely no structure and teams run through us over and over and Ali our saviour isn't behind him. Id like to see him corale the team a bit more but you can't make a judgement on him based on this calamity.

I hope you’re right but everyone is always quick to criticise Konate when he makes a mistake or plays badly. But VVD was much worse yesterday. Unfortunately Kerkez looks lost in a Liverpool shirt. None of this is helped by the our forwards can’t finish a bag of crisps at the moment. Not sure what Ekitike has done but the fact he was always the first one pulled off or can’t make our starting line up when he’s easily been our best attacking player this season is a joke.

Gakpo is not the reason we have been playing awful as a team. Those issues lie elsewhere, Im afraid.

Everyone on here is quick to call for the managers head after a few bad results. Easily forgetting what happened last year, when no one thought it possible we won the league. Give the manager time and support the him. Hitting the post and missing easy chances is not the managers fault. Utds first goal was a very bad mistake by the ref. After that its catch up. A few players need to get their act together ASAP. Salah, Gakpo, Kerkez, Bradley and Isak have all been well below par this season. One good game and it all clicks we will be a force again
We are only 4 points off top. Support the team YNWA
Thanks.

No, it’s not just the last 4 games. Liverpool have been poor since PSG away.
Slot isn’t doing his job properly, and that is quite clear - we defend APPALLINGLY, have few attacking patterns of play, and can’t attack nor defend set-pieces. And those are just a few issues.
Slot has panicked and is reverting into picking his favourites at the expense of better, more in-form players in sheer hope rather than strategy. He’s also starting to sound increasingly silly in his press conferences, very reminiscent of the man that was there before Jurgen.

I thought it was completely possible to win the League last season, especially how we preformed the previous season with the same player.

I've got so many thoughts and questions. But I think Carra summed it up best, and this was after the first game -
We're playing basketball.
20 Oct 2025 11:17:49
Faith, we're not even playing basketball IMO cos even in that sport, you are actually allowed to press the other team (half/ full court press) and play good rotational defense. LFC aren't even doing any of that cos we don't know how to attack, press nor defend. So, it's actually worse than playing basketball.

Oli - was thinking about deeper about this. modern basketball is basically positionless. In that second half, especially as we made the changes where we wound up with Jones and Wirtz at CM, it felt exactly like modern basketball. positionless. win the ball in transition and just get the ball up the pitch, players fill lanes to attack as opposed to setting up any kind of structure.

Absolute nonsense about 'outside problems' transcending onto the pitch. The team has been pretty horrendous since the start of the year, Salah and Van Dijk's form and Gravenberchs 7/ 10 consistent performances was just about keeping us winning.
Slot was pragmatic, oiling a well run machine as and when required. The issue now is the machine has changed and his coaching so far has looked worrying inept.
He got a few let offs at the start of the season, but he's completely drowning at the moment and looks absolutely desperate in his tactics when trying to conjure up anything. A far cry from the cool collected and no nonsense approach he could take when he didn't really have to tinker with tactics.
He has basically 3 players showing any kind of form, Ekitike, Szobo and chiesa and he's either not playing them or playing them out of position. Chiesa the only player showing any type of fight and bite is used only if he's absolutely desperate.
He's starting to look like an Eredevisie manager who is completely out of his depth. If he gets any teams in any kind of form in upcoming games, he may struggle to keep his job.
I think Gravenberch's performances are being overlooked too, I know everyone wants to romanticise his meteoric turnaround. He was good last season, 7/ 10 good consistently. Now he's been hovering over around a low 6 for most of the games, offering very little, and the same issue of no back up is haunting us.
20 Oct 2025 07:32:09
Gravenberch is a quality player and has been playing v well. The trouble is that he is being encouraged to break lines with his dribbling which he is great at doing but he's supposed to be the DM and neither of the other 2 in there are holding back when he does this. Its like we're playing a triple pivot with neither of the 3 having the brains or discipline to stay back when the others go forwards. they're are running around like headless chickens.

LFC-S MANGO has written an article entitled, Is Liverpool FC In A Crisis?
19 Oct 2025 23:35:48
Proper annoyed by that one.
Salah needs dropping for a few games, frimpong or Chiesa should be starting on the right before him right now.
20 Oct 2025 00:47:03
Should have been anyway I think Mikey. Frimpong may not have had the best start but he did more today in 15 minutes than Salah has done for several games now. Chiesa not starting right now boggles my mind.

the fullback situation is really strange.
I'm struggling to understand why we've picked two attacking wingbacks and then we play Kerkez more central than out wide, and Frimpong we leave on the bench and play a CM at RB instead.
