One last gift from the Great Man himself.
16 May 2026 21:56:06
Loads of players liking Salah's post, even Leoni, but still no VVD.
16 May 2026 22:02:09
Legend of a player and he is perfectly right in what he says. Klopp philosophy and all the hard work Klopp and the team did to make us great and respected once again has been killed off by this current regime.
Sad times ahead, unfortunately.
16 May 2026 22:27:13
Jay dub, which other players have liked his post? (I don't do social media)
16 May 2026 22:33:41
Remember Mo Salah gave his statement earlier in the season n loads on here was slagging him off, saying he is out of order, wow how times have changed. He was right then n he is right now.
16 May 2026 22:34:48
Man of Todd, Quansah, Elliot, Kerkez, Ekitike, Robbo, Leoni and a few others.
16 May 2026 22:46:14
@Mann of Todd, Apart from the names mentioned by Keegans Purm: Dom, Grav, Trent, Curtis, Jordan Henderson too liked it. There is an article in the BBC Sports section.
16 May 2026 22:47:19
Vvd won't go against Slot.
17 May 2026 06:16:39
Spot on, Stroms....
If only people had listened... Oh well.
17 May 2026 06:49:40
Why would VVD like it, as he seems to love this style. I always fume at him when the ball is played to him. He is the orchestrator of the roll the ball in insipid style.
16 May 2026 20:56:34
How will everyone feel when Chelsea finish above us next season, I'm already infuriated, not sure how I'll feel when that happens and it's inevitable if we stick with Slot.
16 May 2026 21:42:23
I will feel shocked to my core if Chelsea finish above Liverpool.
If we appoint Iraola, I think many people will be pleasantly surprised by how good Iraola is compared to Alonso. Personal opinion, but I think he's the best option for us.
16 May 2026 21:53:33
Ron, I think you'll be unpleasantly surprised what a turnaround Chelsea will do under Xabi. They've got a young squad, some excellent talent, the club's a bit of a shambles, but that's irrespective of what's happening on the pitch. Look what Klopp did for us, we didn't have half the squad Chelsea do now when Klopp came on board.
16 May 2026 21:55:36
I agree, from the two, I feel he gets the players that will go through walls for him.
16 May 2026 21:57:46
Good chance Alonso goes very well next year. They'll be like Utd this year with one game a week.
16 May 2026 21:58:42
I prefer Hoeness if I'm honest, plays a lot like Klopp style, which is what we are crying out for.
16 May 2026 22:03:28
I would have liked Alonso, but I'm with you, Ron Iraola is an ideal fit.
16 May 2026 22:23:07
I'm with Ron, I never wanted Alonso yet. Anyway take the red specs off, Luis Enrique number 1 for me.
16 May 2026 22:47:41
With regards to Hoeness, I believe his English needs a lot of work, which isn't ideal for managing in the Premier League.
16 May 2026 23:00:24
Chelsea squad you say, Chewy?
An average keeper, a few decent defenders, very average wingers, and still no goal scorer? Yeah they have 2 great midfielders etc but Alonso will have his work cut out, that's for sure.
16 May 2026 23:05:31
By letting Alonso go to Chelsea, not only have we failed to strengthen our team, we've allowed a competitor to strengthen.
I just hope FSG have something in mind, and not allowing Slot to stay.
16 May 2026 23:13:01
Can people tell me how Ireola is the perfect fit? One terrific season and other good ones. Never managed a top club and not won a thing. I'll take anyone over Slot currently, but I'm not convinced he'll be bringing us the title. Hopefully I'm wrong.
17 May 2026 00:30:45
Ireola seems good. I like the man. But, like nearly every manager, there's questions. His team run relentlessly for him, I'm told. Would they be able to do the same twice a week over a 60 game season, as he's never managed a European campaign. Maybe they would, but these are the questions.
17 May 2026 06:53:20
Well Florian, his team have played 38 games this season, 2 to go, and they seem to be getting stronger, not running out of gas.
I'd prefer 40 games heavy metal football and getting stronger, to 60 games of Slot-ball. But each to his own.
16 May 2026 20:51:31
Ed001, maybe I'm thinking too much into this but having seen salahs statement and the squad's reaction to it e.g. comments and likes etc., do you think what we're seeing is the full squad publicly speaking out against slot and his tactics, and using Salah as the voice as he is leaving at the end of the season so will have no repercussions?
{Ed001's Note - yes.}
16 May 2026 21:47:26
Surely that makes his post untenable?
16 May 2026 22:24:24
It should have been for some time. Press conference going to be interesting though!
16 May 2026 22:02:49
If that's the case Ed there is no way he could stay in the job.if that's the case he would HAVE to be gone after next Sunday.Do you think Arne could keep his job even if Hughes and Edwards knows this?
{Ed001's Note - I think we need to be asking if any of them can keep their jobs after this season.}
17 May 2026 07:02:11
Reporter: After Salah's post on social media these past days, what do you make of it, Arne?
Slot: Well, obviously, Salah is a good person and has his reasons, but our style of football is not the problem. The problem is VAR and xG's and luck. It is so bad he won't be here to see our rise next season.
Reporter: Next season? Do you think you would still be here?
Slot: Of course. The board is behind me, the fans (except for a few boos here and there) are mostly fine. We won the league last year and we will do it again.
16 May 2026 20:42:27
Now that Alonso has gone to Chelsea, the only real prospect is Iraola, however, according to reports, his wife is unhappy in the UK and wants to return home.
That being the case and Slot basically shot down in flames from Mo Salah's Instagram post, Slot is as good as gone.
Saw a post earlier about Mike Gordon coming in to sort out the mess and his no.1 target is the return of Jurgen Klopp (allegedly).
Is this idea far fetched? What's to say Jurgen will come back for 1 year only and then leave paving the way for Luis Enrique to take over in Summer 2027?
Sounds far fetched and impossible I know but anything can happen in football.
16 May 2026 21:48:20
Why would Klopp come in for one year?
16 May 2026 21:59:03
He's living a dream life at the moment. Global Head of Football for Red Bull, he works from home in Mallorca when he's not travelling. Don't forget he was first approached by Red Bull, and bought his current home at least 2 years before he left us, so it was all part of a long term plan.
I would be shocked if he gave all that up to come back and give us a dig out. I imagine his wife would threaten divorce if he tried to move her from Mallorca back to the Mersey.
16 May 2026 22:00:36
I would say both are zero and Enrique will be at PSG for the foreseeable. Didn't he sign a new contract a few weeks back as well?
See Hoeness is the b3st option for r us.
16 May 2026 22:12:04
Yes, slightly far fetched.
16 May 2026 22:52:40
Wish people would drop the Enrique love in, he's probably the best manager out there but isn't leaving PSG. Alonso has gone to Chelsea, so now it's Iraola or Hoeness or we are stuck with Slot and that is going to set us back years if he stays, then we will be dredging the bottom for a manager.
16 May 2026 23:08:41
Can't see why Enrique would leave PSG. It's either Slot, Iraola or maybe Hoeness.
16 May 2026 20:25:44
I'm actually hanging on Carra bringing us at least a little bit of good news, I'm actually praying. 🙏
16 May 2026 21:58:22
You mean the guy who assured us Alonso had basically signed and Slot had agreed to keep the seat warm for him until end of season?
16 May 2026 22:24:38
He will make some post next about how it was all agreed but Chelsea offered more money and are now considering X.
16 May 2026 20:23:13
What's more disappointing... slot staying or Alonso going to Chelsea?
As Xavi won't be in our dugout next season, then I'd love Hoeness to be our manager. It's never going to be Enrique. With current players posting on social media how the club is a disaster zone, I just can't see how slot stays, despite what he says.
I don't know enough on Hoeness to give any sort of opinion, but the posters on here suggest he is a younger version of Klopp. So, he has my vote straight away.
16 May 2026 22:54:16
Had Alonso come, Xavi would not have been in our dugout. Xabi would, lol. Sorry, only joking, but need a laugh at the moment with how we are going.
16 May 2026 23:32:07
Kev, that has to be a rhetorical question!
It would be a zillion times more disappointing if Slot stays, not fussed on Alonso to Chelsea, it's not a well run club and he'll leave in 8 months.
16 May 2026 20:13:35
Alonso new Chelsea boss. I'm done with this club, slag me off all you want but keeping slot is a f****** embarrassment. We are the new United, get used to mediocrity ladies and gents.
16 May 2026 20:03:12
Hi all.
Long term lurker, ever since this brilliant site got introduced to me, and first time poster.
It's fair to say I've got addicted to reading updates from ITKs and general fans.
Recent events finally made me want to share my feelings. However bad we've been since I got hooked to the wonderful thing that is LFC, this is the first tine I've felt so apathetic when we are playing. It's not the league position or results that make me feel this way. It's the way we are playing, knowing the talented players we have are capable of so much more.
The idea of having XA as manager excited the romantic in me but right now I would have anyone rather than Slot who just seems to be taking us in the wrong direction and playing the kind of football that just dulls all my senses and doesn't seem to care.
I wanted Slot to succeed over the long term and was amazed by what he produced for the first part of last season and commend him for delivering the league title. However after the rubbish served up this season I just want someone in charge who will make us play with some passion and energy.
16 May 2026 19:59:10
The ideal scenario for me would be that Klopp returns. If not as a Manager then a senior role at LFC. Just having him around would be inspirational and standards would be set.
Bring back Klopp’s backroom team and make Gerrard the Manager.
I think that Stevie would relish that opportunity to learn from the best and the club would certainly have that feel good factor again.
Mike Gordon….. Please grant my wish. 🙏
16 May 2026 20:59:31
Klopp would be a great sporting director, but would also potentially be an albatross hanging over any incoming manager.
I like the idea of Iraola. I think his style is closer to Klopp's and he has proven he can improve players.
