Stevie Me for the chop tomorrow.

{Ed014's Note - he really is a poor manager!

Baffles me how any true Liverpool fan can enjoy seeing a bloke who carried single handed for years fail!

{Ed014's Note - because he’s a cockwomble id guess ?‍♂️

I get why you’d want him to fail ed14 but so called fans who would like to see one of our all time greats fail are probably still butt hurt we let that clown origi go.

{Ed014's Note - he’s just not a very good manager mate and drags a club like Villa backwards.

Making stupid decisions like signing Coutinho.

He left the club twice. I couldn't give a shiny about him. Plus he's a poor manager and hopefully Klopp keeps him well away from the AXA centre.

I mean you complain people have an opinion of Gerrard as a manager and then call Origi a clown?

Divock was a model professional for LFC and a player happy to be part of a squad who, when called on in moments it really mattered, very rarely let us down. By no means was he world class or anywhere near it but to call him a clown is ridiculous.

5.) 20 Oct 2022
20 Oct 2022 22:08:11
What's Origi done to be dragged into a discussion about Gerrard?
Apart from score in the CL final, that is.

You’re right Wassa, clown is a little harsh, my apologies.

'He left the club twice', says the bloke with a username with a player who's left the club in it.

More generally, I've observed this bizarre effort from some posters, ever since the day Gerrard became Rangers manager, to go on and on and ON about how he shouldn't be Liverpool manager after Klopp and run down his abilities. It's a strange reaction I find, cos there hasn't been much of a push from any Gerrard fanboys for him to be LFC manager. Even the slightest suggestion from anyone came with caveats like "if he proves himself at PL level then maybe". So what are you reacting against?

I can only assume its some misguided attempt to show what knowledgable fans they are by pointing out that they're not falling into a completely imaginary trap of wanting a club legend to be Liverpool manager, even though there's never been any real clamour for that to happen. (idk, maybe Carra said it once years ago cos they're mates)

He's managing another club, one we generally don't really care about and he's not doing well there and will likely be sacked. He'll get another chance somewhere else, it's his 2nd job in football management. He'll figure out where screwed up with Villa or he won't. Not really worth getting all that excited about.

I don’t get the hate some people give to Gerrard. He is one of the best Liverpool players of my lifetime and has probably given me more great memories than virtually any other player. I guess you can’t teach class.

9.) 20 Oct 2022
20 Oct 2022 22:48:18
Robbie Fowler left the club twice.
Kenny Dalglish left the club twice.
Ian Rush left the club twice.
Graeme Souness left the club twice.
What an idiotic reason for hating someone!

He's gone, sacked.

20 Oct 2022 23:27:13
Hey Mane, what better place and manager to learn from! I don’t want to see him fail. If he became the best coach in the world and had his pick of clubs he’d choose us. That’s enough for me . I don’t like to see one of our own not doing well.

12.) 20 Oct 2022
20 Oct 2022 23:34:27
Any team with Tyrone Mings and Konsa in defence is going to struggle in fact they have a lot of terrible players at Villa so not too surprising they are struggling. Not disagreeing he has zero tactical sense and I don’t think he has any preferred way of playing. But it is definitely the players who are letting him down a championship level side.

13.) 20 Oct 2022
20 Oct 2022 23:35:01
Gutted for him. Feels like he took on too much too quickly in terms of responsibility. He'd have been safer working as a head coach under a strong sporting director.

No matter what, the man loves Liverpool as much as we do and there should be solidarity, not hate.

Hopefully he finds a job where he can get back to being a head coach.

I don’t get the lack of respect for Stevie G. We would be a Champions League and FA Cup down if he hadn’t dragged us through those finals. A bit of gossip on here about how he can be a knob and the sheep jump aboard to slate him. Finest midfielder of his generation imo and Liverpool legend. There are players in the current team with worse behavioral records off the pitch who are lauded on here.

15.) 21 Oct 2022
21 Oct 2022 05:02:37
Things seemed to go downhill for Gerrard at Villa following the issues around Mings losing the captaincy.
Whatever the ins and outs of that, it is never a good thing to lose a relationship with a senior player and is a time-honoured recipe for upset in the dressing room.
It’s difficult to see where Gerrard goes in England now. There was talk of a return to Rangers.
Is he above a junior role at Liverpool now?

The hate for Stevie here is embarrassing. From the so called best fans in the world. He single handedly kept us afloat for many a seasons. Is arguably the most complete midfielder of the past 20-30 years. Gave us countless lovely memories. His long shooting still remains the best I have ever seen.
But yeah, it feels most of the people here hate him from their heart. Even though, I am sure, 99% of the posters here have never met him in person, nor have even the tiniest idea of how he is as a human being.

Did some work at Konsa's House a couple of weeks back and got talking. He basically said that Gerrard wasn't ready, great bloke but just not ready. Said he was great for the central midfielders but pretty clueless everywhere else.
At least it keeps Gerrard out of everyone's mind for the Liverpool job.

21 Oct 2022 07:54:10
Best olayer of his generation in the Premier league for sure. True liverpool captain. carried this club for years. To think he won't be a liverpool manager because he failed at villa. doesn't quiet work that way does it. Some on here would prefer linders no doubt. Atleast Gerrard is trying and not not took the easy route of being a pundit all his life. think he deserves more respect from so called fans on here.

Football viewing on TV only became available in 1999 in my country through DSTV or so I know it. I saw a young Steven Gerrard stun Fabian Barthez from range in 2001, much to the shock of Fergie. Martin Tyler did discribe the goal as "sensational". From that day, I knew I was born to hate Manure and love LIV and Gerrard made that happen.

The hypocrisy on here shellshocks me. A lot speak as though they're flawless, non is perfect. That man made me love LIV and gave me beautiful memories as captain fantastic. I don't care how many times he left the club, the point is the Liver bird is deeply crested in his heart and he was the best at what he does imho. I wish him the best in his future endeavor. Very good learning curve.

Always horrible negative attitudes towards both Gerrard AND Salah on this site, arguably L'pool's best two players of the last 30 years! don't see how any REAL Lfc fans could think that way so i've come to the conclusion they are just other teams fans trolling our legends. Like people saying Klopp out, im sorry but these people simply can't be Lfc fans.

Sometimes you have to separate your respect for him as a Liverpool icon for what he done on the pitch and him personally. Some people may have different experiences.

I couldn’t hold him in any further regard as a footballer. He was a generational talent.

That being said I know of several occasions where he has been a colossal bell end to people away from the pitch.

In this world of camera phones. social media. cctv everywhere you go it's easy to show some1 at their worst. who's to say the oldies of rush sounness ect weren't on their beat behaviour at times. Not saying stevie hasn't been a cock at times, but let's not say certain people are angels.
And personally couldn't give a rubbish what he does off the pitch as I'm sure there is thousands of young kopites who idolised the guy and still hold him in very high regard.
Legend.

{Ed025's Note - “couldn’t give a rubbish what players do off the field” magico….you may want to retract that mate..

Again, multiple things can be true at the same time. Gerard is a Liverpool legend as a player and as a captain. Steven Gerard is a man with his personal and professional flaws like everyone including those dropping absolute abuse on him for reasons only they can tell us.

Based on the evidence, Gerard is clearly not ready for the big time and this experience should humble him and allow him to go back, work harder on his craft as a coach and manager. He needs to take two strides back in order to get a better run-up so he can jump higher. All the insults and abuse on this thread is quite saddening and unwarranted. Pathetic.

21 Oct 2022 09:54:02
JN what horrible negative attitude towards Salah? Within the past 12 months many on here called him the best player in the world. Then since the AFCON finished most have said he is not the same player and his goal scoring has dropped off big style. You are just making things up if you think there is a horrible negative attitude against Salah.

Zero negativity about his contract? was a mercenary about to abandon ship? no negativity on his form last season from february on forgetting the B'allon D'or form he'd been in beforehand? The stick everytime he goes maybe two games without scoring even though he's been our top scorer every season he's been here (on course for 30 again this year) . Both he AND Gerrard never seem to get the respect the have earned and deserve on here while as someone above said, far lesser players like Origi would be loved to the hilt. Both will go down as been in our top handful of players ever, no real Lfc fan abuses such legends of the club.

Juicer spot on mate Stevie should of got shut of mings the day he made his mind up to take captains arm band away . He has played like a championship player in relegation zone . This is a learning curve for Stevie G needs to get back on the merry go round .

@magico, Definately agree on the pitch, he was amazing and loved the things he did for this club, but, he played for Liverpool and was a role model to so many people, and that has to be true both on and off the pitch. The amount of things I have heard and even seen of him away from the game, he was so far up his own ass and thinking he was the big shot, telling people “do you know who I am? ” Because he didn’t get served a drink before some unknown person. Absolutely b3ll end of the highest order who has let all the fame and adulation he earned whilst playing for us to to his head and think he was entitled to be treated like royalty wherever and whatever he does.

It’s really odd that people on here can’t accept the fact that people have some skills but not others.

Stevie G was a very good footballer. he is NOT a very good (or even good) manager based on his performance to date.

Just because he, or anybody else for that matter, isn’t as good at some things as others does mean that people hate him.

30.) 21 Oct 2022
21 Oct 2022 14:10:13
It was the same when he was winning titles at Rangers (farmers league) tho WDW! For some reason on here some footballers who have produced so much for the club (in this conversation Salah and Gerrard) are not held in nearly as high as asteem or thought of as fondly as players who they have simply majorly outperformed. This summer for instance if Salah had moved for a fraction of his value just like Sadio there would have been two totally different reactions to the moves. And as for Gerrard, best midfielder of his generation in this country yet even BEFORE becoming a manager he was severely undervalued on here.

I don’t think most Liverpool players want Gerrard to fail. I just think they don’t want him to fail at Liverpool.

@Jude - it’s an interesting one isn’t it? Flanno, the English Cafu retired earlie4 this week and sparked a lively debate n here - some wishing him well and some other not so, saying his actions in his personal life outweighed his football skills. Stevie G is regarded by some (those who lived in and around Formb5 like a couple of members of my family) also have ‘concerns’ about activities in his life away from football. It seems that there is - for some - respect for players as footballers but not necessarily as members of a polite and caring society, shall we say?
