Echo reporting we are interested in Michael Keane (of Burnley) . Anything to it Eds?

Scouse Spartan

{Ed002's Note - Everton, Chelsea and Leicester have shown an interest in Michael Keane (home grown is a bonus) but Burnley will be reluctant to sell and would seek a lot of money to do so. I am not aware of any approach to Burnley by Liverpool at this time.}

1.) 22 Mar 2017 17:37:13
Thanks as always.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

13 Feb 2017 13:53:00
Was the hands-off warning on Pulisic just in the winter window or does it apply to the summer as well? Thanks.

Scouse Spartan

{Ed002's Note - Dortmund don't want to sell him but are aware of interest from several sides including Liverpool. He signed a new contract in January and Dortmund will resist a sale in the summer.}

1.) 13 Feb 2017 15:42:57
Ok thanks for the reply.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 13 Feb 2017 19:02:10
I'd imagine we would have to pay over the odds to get him.

3.) 14 Feb 2017 13:26:59
We would have to pay what they believe he is worth to them same as any other transaction. Whether we feel it's over the odds or not is completely irrelevant.

02 Jan 2017 00:22:22
Ed001 do you foresee any significant additions coming in for us in January?

Happy New Year to all!

Scouse Spartan

{Ed001's Note - no mate, it is difficult to get things done in January and stupid prices are being floated around for players.}

1.) 02 Jan 2017 12:25:11
Thanks for the reply Ed.

Do you think we've got enough already for the duration of this season to challenge?

{Ed001's Note - yes. I am sure we do.}

2.) 03 Jan 2017 00:25:30
Ok great. Thanks for your reply. Makes me more confident even if no big additions come in. (Would still like us to get Pulisic though hah)

16 Dec 2016 03:22:34
Eds. if you've got a minute -

With the articles being written about Dortmund "warning" Liverpool off Pulisic, should we believe that there's fire with the smoke, as in we are keen and trying to bring him in in January?

And if so, should these "warnings" be interpreted as posturing for a better price, or is there actually no chance they will sell?

Personally I think he'd be a great addition!

Scouse Spartan

{Ed001's Note - there is no chance they will let him go for anything other than an obscenely large price in January.}

1.) 16 Dec 2016 06:52:02
Then we should stear clear imo, surely Klopp understands what they have said ed and that it will take an obscene amount of money. Better off not wasting time in trying?

{Ed001's Note - that won't stop the bull in the papers though will it?}

2.) 16 Dec 2016 08:18:03
I wouldn't be surpirsed if the club spends close to £30 mill on him. Which player did we sign on cheap recently? Wijnamldum, Mane, Firmino. He is an American and would certainly interest the owners. The most important part, He is an exciting player. I am convinced the club would make an attempt to buy him eithe in Jan or Summer.

{Ed001's Note - £30m is highly unlikely to sign him.}

3.) 16 Dec 2016 08:49:20
I am pretty sure we would buy one Winger / wide forward either in Jan or Summer. The kid is young and knows our interest. I am pretty optimistic the club would try to sign him. I can't see another cheap option out there which would excite Mr Klopp.

4.) 16 Dec 2016 09:51:53
There must be other options out there Harry. If his club don't want to sell him meaning we will have to pay crazy money then other options must be explored.

5.) 16 Dec 2016 10:09:00
I put something up a few weeks back about this desire to sign a wide player during this window, its evident that Klopp wants to strengthen this area.

Player wise isn't Draxler having a bad time in wolfsburg at the moment could this not be an option looked at by the club?

How has Sisto done since his move to La Liga liked him for FC Mit?

6.) 16 Dec 2016 10:30:30
Daxler isn't the right player and He would end up at Arsenal. Brandt is a good shout but I guess we will end up with Pulisc.

7.) 16 Dec 2016 13:07:29
We won't get Pulisic in Jan thought that's the point I was making unless like others have said we pay stupid money. So what is left available as we can pretty much be sure Klopp wants to add a wide player in Jan.

No doubt he could pluck a player from the bundesliga that we have not had banded about as yet.

I put Draxler out there as it appears he may well be available and has quality. Brandt is excellent but if the release clause does not exist then it will be hard to get him away.

I wonder will the Milan clubs persist with any interest the media claims to be there for Sakho.

8.) 16 Dec 2016 14:23:03
They warning Liverpool not to waste their time with moneyball or lowball tactics.

9.) 16 Dec 2016 21:21:02
Didn't see the logic behind Klopps statements on needing a winger/ attacker. Wing is where you give a young attacking player his chance, we have a couple of them. Pulisic might be seen as an extreme talent, worth getting at (almost) any cost, but it all seems strange. That said, with Couts, Sturridge, Can and Ings injured the bench haven't looked impressive to say the least. So there's an argument to buy.

But JK is far to clever and careful with money to do that. I think he is signing a winger in january not as cover for Mané, or injuries but to give the new player time to adjust for next season, when there will be European games and we'll surely need more depth.

10.) 16 Dec 2016 21:30:45
ojo has been promised game time, how will he take the news that another winger is coming in?, will Wilson consider his options?
I don't know if the kids are good enough but why spend bucket loads on someone else's child when we have 3 of our own to look after.

11.) 16 Dec 2016 22:10:36
maybe this talk of signing a wideman, is one way of taking the pressure off Ojo, he is very close to full fitness, and being on the subs bench very soon .

12.) 17 Dec 2016 04:47:57
I think the important thing is, does Pulisic want to come and is he for the move or egging for it? We seen Klopp abandon moves for Gotze and Zielinski because they were not pushing for the move here.

I think one of the Eds was very high on Max Meyer, have we looked at him as an option this window? I know Schalke don't sell cheap though.

13.) 17 Dec 2016 14:36:03
Matip on a free is the deal of the season.

When you consider what we paid for Lovren.

14.) 17 Dec 2016 15:12:54
This is all speculation so let`s all wait and see what happens as Ojo is the one penciled down to get game time when Mane is off to ACN. As for Pulisic, it is a nothing burger as he is not willing to sign, BVB won`t sell in Jan neither will they sell in the summer, IMO. Why? He won`t start ahead of our front three when all are fit so that would be 35m or so wasted and what happens to Woodburn, Ojo and Wilson? Exactly, it seems like people just want signings without analysing the impact on the field, financially and the like. It`s this type of thinking that got us Markovic who was and never will be a PL player as he was never ready for it.

15.) 17 Dec 2016 23:22:43
We've got talent as good as pulsic on our bench and in u23s.

16.) 18 Dec 2016 02:27:57
So why would we apparently be after him then?

{Ed025's Note - dont believe all you read on the internet or in papers mate..

16 Jul 2016 21:12:29
Sky saying we are interested in Jonathan Tah. Haven't heard anything on him here in a little while. Anything to it Eds?

Scouse Spartan

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything changing.}

Haha ok thanks anyways.

21 Mar 2017 03:41:45
Thumbs up for an Ed001 and Ed002 podcast debating one Jurgen Klopp!

Scouse Spartan

1.) 21 Mar 2017 07:24:34
Which podcast is that? Gone to look but nothing there.

2.) 21 Mar 2017 07:47:31
I think Spartan was drumming up support (thumbs up) for his proposal of a podcast debate on Klopp there Max 😬.

3.) 21 Mar 2017 07:52:15
That will be the best podcast yet! Hoping it arrives soon.

4.) 21 Mar 2017 09:04:14
I will act as the special guest referee 😎.

5.) 21 Mar 2017 09:22:19
Spare us.

6.) 21 Mar 2017 11:35:45
Both eds have very strong opinions on the matter which are both subjective, the result would just be an argument. Just be grateful we have two knowledgeable people who can give us two separate but valid points of view.

7.) 21 Mar 2017 12:05:15
Yeah that would be great, maybe chuck in the Everton Ed (Ed025) as well, he's had some good things to say about klopp and it would broaden the debate a bit more.

8.) 21 Mar 2017 12:50:15
I don't think that debate will be productive cos one thinks the world of Klopp while the other doesn't think he's all that and both have reasons to back up their opinions. It will be a stalemate BUT very informative for viewers and listeners.

9.) 21 Mar 2017 19:07:25
Ed025 is great (for a non-red) :-) . A three-way argument would be highly entertaining.

{Ed025's Note - that would be hard for me rob hes my guilty pleasure, i know i should hate him...but i cant help myself i love the guy mate, hes witty, always smiling and plays the game the right way, hes wasted on your moaning shower though.. :)

20 Mar 2017 02:13:20
Ed001 have you done a match review yet?

Scouse Spartan

{Ed001's Note - not yet mate sorry will do it once I have caught up editing the sites.}

1.) 20 Mar 2017 12:56:32
Coutinho was almost back to himself last night bar his finishing and at times final ball. But his movement and control and dribbling looked much better also the turn of pace seemed to be back as well. I agree with end that hopefully this is more him getting back to form rather than a need for criticism. Firminos all round game last night could easily have made him man of the match his movement and interplay is simply immense but with the obvious crucial miss and two bad decisions at key times when he got space in the box at other times do take a lot of the shine off and possibly highlight long term his incapability to be relied upon as our focal main striker and getter of crucial goals. But he does seem to be a streaky player in front of goal. So something to work on anyway.
I'd like to give a mention to can as well I thought our midfield in general was very impressive for the most part but I thought can had one of his best games for a while and used his physicality to his advantage much more effectively than in the past.

2.) 20 Mar 2017 13:42:57
All good just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed it. Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - it is on the others page now mate.}

3.) 21 Mar 2017 10:57:16
Spot on, Shanek. Great collective performance from all especially form Can, Wiji, Firmino and Couts (marginally, tho) . And to know that Migs had next to nothing to do in the game shows how in some strange way, we were good defensively.

09 Mar 2017 14:22:11
Hello fellow Reds. Quick question.

I'm going down to the match with my friend who is a Burnley supporter (sitting separately in the stadium) . What's the best place to grab a couple pints close to the stadium before the match? He won't be wearing Burnley colors or anything. I normally just go straight into the stadium when I go. Alternatively, what are the rules about open containers around the stadium? I've previously bought beers at the gas station close to the Main Stand and drank around that parking lot, but can you buy/ bring and walk around outside the stadium drinking? A pub or the sort obviously better if it's raining. Hoping to make a big day out of it. Thanks for any and all advice.

And oh yeah, let's freakin smash Burnley. Top 4 is right there. We just got to reach out and grab it.

Scouse Spartan

1.) 09 Mar 2017 16:16:31
Definitely the Sandon. 1 minute from the stadium, very big pub, some eye candy behind the bar. Every time I go to a game I have a few drinks in their conservatory area before hand.

Cannot recommend it highly enough. Great atmosphere in there.

2.) 09 Mar 2017 16:56:13
The Arkles on Anfield Road is also good and your friend can wear his colours with no problem.

3.) 09 Mar 2017 19:07:46
I also recommend the Arkles for mixed company.

4.) 09 Mar 2017 19:38:44
Thanks for the feedback! Is the arkles an away supporters' pub, or just relaxed towards away supporters? For a Liverpool experience though, Sandon is better?

5.) 09 Mar 2017 20:11:52
If you want to get in with a bit of singing, go to the Albert. Personally, I meet with a load of guys outside of 'The Twelfth Man' (or, the Salisbury for the older generation) . Depends what you want really. All of the pubs will be very busy.
The Albert is pretty much next door to the Twelfth Man.
If you like it a bit rough, 'The Park'.
Hope you have a great time. If you see Kate Bush there, it's me!
Up The Reds. 😎.

6.) 10 Mar 2017 16:26:28
If I see you Kate I'll say what up!

Might be a stupid question, but when you say out of reach pricewise, surely you mean more than we'd want to pay for them, not more than we can afford, right? As in, they're priced (much) higher than what we think they're worth. Otherwise, what's the point in wasting our time scouting them?

Scouse Spartan

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand what difference it makes, nor do I understand what you mean by 'wasting our time scouting them' when you scout for more reasons than buying someone. If we play his team, then any information the scouts have gathered about the players is useful. They might have spotted a weakness to be exploited.}
