According to all the gossip we will have 4 managers next season and both goalkeepers are leaving plus virgil, trent and Connor remember it is just tabloid crap.

I've just seen a post on twitter claiming Andy Cole was only caught offside 24 times during his whole career?

That's an insane record if true and what a player, would of loved us to get him before the mancs.

Really? Cole was decent but played for a great team. We had Robbie at the time who whilst playing for a not very good team was way better than Cole. I'd even say that Cole wasn't as good as Ferdinand who more or less replaced him at Newcastle.

03 May 2024 15:15:09
Jeez. Nunez is offside 24 times in a game.

03 May 2024 17:57:42
Personally I doubt that anyone was counting offside stats in 1993, they probably weren’t even counting them in 2003.

03 May 2024 18:09:18
Didn't Cole score more non penalty goals than Shearer?

Fowler would've destroyed the lot of them if he stayed injury free though.

03 May 2024 22:16:34
Cole scored one penalty the rest from open play. Id have loved to sign him over collymore but not sure how we would of played with god. I'm sure they'd have worked it out.

03 May 2024 22:43:42
No VAR in those days.

04 May 2024 00:12:58
Cole and Fowler could have worked because Fowler was a brilliant footballer, his first touch was exceptional and he had vision of what was going on around him. He was miles better than Owen.

04 May 2024 02:42:40
About right VV, I bloody loved Fowler mate, what a player. Incredible. I must admit, I do miss them days.

04 May 2024 15:28:59
Pity Collymore had his problems, had such talent. Think Ferdinand would have been a great partner for Robbie back in the day.

02 May 2024 22:23:46
One thing ticked off - UCL is a cert next season.

It’s not the Premiership, but puts us in the best place to attract the players to win it next season 👍.

where's the fullah that was adamant we were going to be in a battle for 4th
*crickets*.

03 May 2024 15:16:28
That was Neggy. He was also adamant that Klopp was a spent force and that Arsenal would finish above us. Oh wait.

03 May 2024 18:38:38
Never fear, I am always lurking waiting to lay some cold hard truths about our beloved team.
Whilst I am certain Arsenal will do better than us again and klopp is off, my mind doesn't compute that I got the top ten prediction incorrect.
Obviously I am over the Moon to be higher up the league but I was convinced we'd be doing a Chelsea.

04 May 2024 02:47:02
What I love about you Walter my friend is how you make people believe you. It's hilarious. You make them bite, reel them in mate, keep going.

I hope you are well Walter.

Just to fuel the fire, what do you think to our incoming manager? how do you feel next season will go? :) .

You take care mate.

04 May 2024 17:38:21
Hey Salah all good I guess. Hope life is treating you kindly. I am actually really excited about slot coming in.
I think I am more excited about slot than when klopp came.
For me if he gets a team without Salah Trent Diaz Jones and with suitable replacements there's no reason he can't get 2nd_4th in his 1st season.
I guess the trick is like all teams to get the right players for the squad and use them at the right times.
Only drawback about Slot is apparently he plays players out of position so I hope that's kept to a minimum.

02 May 2024 18:12:07
Im going to get pelters for saying this, but im not arsed about watching the remaining 3 games. Not even the last game for JK at Anfield. As there's nowt riding on these games now it's all very flat.

We will finish top 4, probably 3rd maybe 4th if the last 3 games go badly. So CL football will be back next season and we've won the league Cup.

I think the timing of the announcement was a mistake, unless there was real concern of a big leak its not done anything other than distract I don't think. And to have a 10 minuet video was all very Hollywood and perhaps for the benefit of the up coming documentary. I don't recall SAF doing that at United or Jose at Chelsea after winning far more than JK has. It just smacked of a show and for me has really detracted from the end of the season. Its something that could have been done now and not had this prolonged good bye feel to it.

The fact that 8 weeks ago we were on for a quadruple and that has collapsed in to nothing hasn't helped. Well I say nothing that's harsh, after last season and the departures we had, the players that turned us down and the players we got in if you would have said. 3 rd place and the league Cup im sure we would have taken it. But its all very flat and im not sure it will get better. Its a case of thanks for the memories JK.

I've had 3 months to get used to it and im a bit meh about it all now and just looking foward to seeing what Slot brings. Season can't finish fast enough for me, its been a horrible end . Not fussed about the bore fest that will be the Euros with England playing Southgateball, so roll no next season.

OP - said like a true loyal supporter.

03 May 2024 03:44:13
Kimu - I rekon lots of people probably feel this way. perhaps you can spend the time you are getting back to reflect on why you're a fan. for the club or is it for the glory?

03 May 2024 04:33:02
I don’t understand this sort of mentality, what sort of Liverpool supporter are you? I want Liverpool to win every single game they play regardless of what’s on the line. If that’s not your same thought process honestly what are you doing here?

03 May 2024 11:18:29
Gotta watch the games. I'm always interested to see which players play better when the team is in a tough spot.

Hoping Macca and Trent step it up in this time. I'm hoping they are our future leaders and I d like to see them take ownership of this team performance.

03 May 2024 13:53:08
Maybe take up fishing lad. The fish are not arsed if you don’t turn up for them.

03 May 2024 15:27:23
I’ll be there on Sunday 💪.

03 May 2024 17:36:29
Don’t care if it’s over or not. We have to win our last three games for our own pride.

03 May 2024 21:02:35
Kimu what are you doing with your tickets lad?

04 May 2024 12:51:27
OP if you’ve got a ticket for Sunday and you don’t want it I’ll buy it off you🔴⚪️🤛.

04 May 2024 15:32:37
Love watching L'pool, had plenty of years where our season was over by january but still watched every game. I'd like to see Danns for instance start thru d middle ahead of Darwin on Sunday and see how he gets on. These are the games to try it.

02 May 2024 11:01:33
Anyone buying the new jersey sign up with Nike and you'll get 25% off. I think the offer ends tomorrow.

Great tip Endo3 I went and had a look but once I seen that home kit I was put off. Ugly is the word looks like it was designed by the makers of etch a sketch. Would not pay £25 for that travesty. So happy we are going back to adidas.

02 May 2024 14:58:23
Always preferred Adidas myself. Always do good shirts.

01 May 2024 18:59:29
I'll be honest I don't really care if Slot plays possession football or uses inverted full backs. If that is what he specialises in then I 100% want him to bring that style to the club with him.

Alan Sugar always says (every year) on the Apprentice, do what you know. It applies to every profession and every walk of life. If you focus on what you are good at you will succeed. Where I think it went wrong for Klopp was when he watered down the gegenpressing tactics with hybrid possession styles he either didn't know how to coach (making him too reliant on Lijnders input) or that he maybe even didn't truly believe in. Who knows, but that is where the progression halted for me.

People can call City boring but winning 2 or 3 trophies a year? I'll take watching boring 3 or 4 nil wins every weekend if it brings silverware. As long as Slot stays true to his philosophy I will be happy. If his tactics mean Trent will continue to invert or we'll persist with a slower build up, then that's absolutely fine as long as that is Slot's philosophy and what he specialises in setting his team up to do. Do what you know.

01 May 2024 19:37:52
That style has thwarted this team. I will cry if i see us continue with inverted fullbacks especially trent. This is why i liked the idea ir amorim. Actual WIDTH. Trent is terrible through the middle. His best football is on the right and we need width back. How depressing.

01 May 2024 23:10:36
The last thing Slot needs to do is come in and try and be Klopp. Needs to be his own man as long as he games and silverware he can do it how he likes.

02 May 2024 09:21:55
The difference is City have the money to buy so many world class/ excellent players. I don't think replicating their tactics is going to automatically bring success.

02 May 2024 10:01:45
MIZER, Man City play with width though and they invert the full backs. They do it by asking guys like Doku, Grealish etc to hug the touchline.

The problem is that we've not implemented the tactics correctly and we've not bought the right players consistently to play that way. Slot knows how to get his system to work, so he should stick to his beliefs regardless of what us fans say. We'll all be silenced if success follows.

03 May 2024 03:49:40
MK - I agree mate. What I think we'll get with Slot is better build-up play when we have long spells of possession.

Also this idea that "City have the money to buy so many world class/ excellent players" like, who are we including in that? Ake? Akanji? Grealish? Alvarez? Walker? Kovacic? Are these guys that fans here are salivating to have in our squad?

03 May 2024 16:08:40
What is it that Salah, Elliot, Diaz and Gakpo do if it's not playing on the touchline?

04 May 2024 08:26:20
Salah goes too narrow and Elliott and Gakpo both drop deep.

Diaz is the only one who regularly stays high and wide. Leaves us toothless down the right and side for most of the game. It’s so easy to see we lack width down our right which is why you have to question the tactics as it’s been that way for quite a while. Henderson used to pull out there to compensate but since he started losing his legs and then eventually was sold the balance just hasn’t been there on our right side. With Robbo struggling for fitness and form too we’ve only really seen proper width this season when Diaz and Bradley both played in the same team.

Two questions for Ed1 or Ed2, whoever wants to answer it. So the Premier League clubs have voted in favour of these new spending rules, which I'm not at all surprised by. As it might legitimately be the only way to stop City from winning the next what 20 titles or so.

My question is 1) with english clubs being limited in general spending, which I assume include player wages as well, doesn't this just lead to the Premier League falling behind the leagues with more economical power?

Which leads to 2) with City and Utd (and Villa) voting against the rule, and with question 1 in mind, do you think this might be the catalyst that ends Premier League (as we know it) and pushes the Super league closer to being a reality? Even if other clubs voted in favour of the new spending rules, I could see some of them turning their back on this new Premier League format if the Super League becomes an option.

{Ed002's Note - (1) Other leagues already have restrictions. (2) No, it has nothing to do with the Super League and is not something that will end the Premier League. It is one of a number of changes that are coming.}
