Hi Ed’s, I’ve been reading a lot about Slots playing style and everybody seems to be saying it’s a cross between Klopp and Guardiola, do you think his style will suit the premier league in your opinion, I’m obviously sad but excited to see something new.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will do fine,}

In fairness he was ed2 choice way back, I didn't even know who he was then. not a great deal out there manager wise once alonso turned us down.
Klopp has left good foundation for him but club need to back him for the 2-3 key signings that can take us from 3rd best team in league upwards.

I'm happy with Slot, along with the likes of Alonso and Amorim he seems to be one of the best of the young coaches coming through. Used to winning things against teams with bigger budgets and resources and seems to have a bit of personality. Not guaranteed but I can see him fitting in and the fans taking to him.

Depends on your definition of fine Ed2.

If he doesn't win absolutely everything in his 1st season then I suppose he'll be seen as a failure to some fans. ridiculous.

I have no idea how he will do because I've never really known anything about him but he deserves to be given a chance, by a chance I mean more than 1 season. These kind of things take time to adapt, unless of course we're 15th in the league by this time next season lol but if he continues to get us CL football, keeps us in the top 4, to be honest I would be happy with that after a first season in charge. He just needs time to make the team his own I think.

It'll also take time for the players we currently have to adapt to his ways, they're so used to Klopp, these are young men who know no different. Time is needed.

Don’t think Slot should have gone public and confirmed before the club did.

I get he’s probably really excited but this weekend is all about saying goodbye to the legend that is Jurgen Norbert Klopp.

Should have held off IMO.

Look forward to seeing what he dies with the squad though.

He’s probably just sick of being asked mate. He’s given vague responses for several weeks out of respect.

17 May 2024 23:55:29
Bloke is enthusiastic about the job. Not sure that’s a problem .

17 May 2024 23:57:30
I am over the moon to have him here and can't wait for him to get started. Klopp wants to leave and had no issue announcing his intentions a third into the season whilst arne slot actively wants to be our manager and needs every bit of support from the fans.

18 May 2024 00:19:11
Yep Slot has said a few things now that don't conform w how things are usually done. I'll put it down to excitement.

18 May 2024 03:13:15
I don't think it really matters to be honest mate, it is what it is. Klopp is leaving, Slot is joining a huge club, who wouldn't be excited? I'd be well chuffed in his shoes. Let the man enjoy his moment.

18 May 2024 08:14:55
Hailstones worded it perfectly.

18 May 2024 08:55:05
Who cares who broke the news.

So many stories already trying to slate Slot before he even joins.

I just don't get the negativity.

18 May 2024 09:19:39
The whole world knew he was coming, what else could he do?

Matip - A liverpool legend in my eyes, shame injuries got the better of him.

Thiago, very unlucky player kind of reminds me of how it went with how it did with Ings, had the potential but with injuries it made it impossible to work out.

Wish them the very best of luck.

Matip - prob in same bracket as Henchoz for me. Not a legend but a very good player most of the time. Thiago, unfortunately will be forgotten quickly like someone like litmanen.

17 May 2024 14:21:02
I'd put Matip in the same bracket as Agger. Cult hero, rather than legend. Gave us 8 years of his life and although he struggled with injury he gave us some great memories. If he hadn't had so many injuries we'd probably have another trophy or two because he actually dovetailed with Virgil brilliantly as a partnership. The only CB we've had who did. Hopefully Quansah will step up now and become even better than Matip ever was.

Prediction that use of the words 'Koop', 'Koops' and 'Kooper' is going to go up exponentially on this site over the next few months.

Banter:

To all Liverpool fans, let's prepare our hearts for Kloop's farewell by watching the farewell at Mainz, Farewell at BVB Dortmund.

Lets see if its any different from previous template of Klopp. I expext it different since we are Liverpool, European Royalty. If its same, i will burn Klopp's poster.

Ed, anything on FSG trying to acquire a majority stake in Vasco DA Gama . Any truth in that?

{Ed002's Note - With potential Everton owners 777 Partners having a crumbling empire, clubs are looking at their assets. Vasco da Gama is part of that and has been for sale for a while with BlueCo having had exploratory talks after signing two players from them last summer. FSG could look to them also but there could be some legal hurdles to deal with as a Brazilian Court has removed the owners from being able to run the club. Standard Liege and Union Berlin are also embroiled in this mess.}

Getting rid of VAR and having automated offsides will make football complete again. Well done to Wolves for starting this motion, now let's see who votes to keep it. i can pretty much guess who will!

"complete again" what a load of guff.

Back to ref incompetence, at least with VAR there is a chance some decisions are correct. As if somehow the purity of the game is affected by having horrific decisions even more prevalent then this year.
Fix VAR, getting rid of it is insanity with how much money is involved in the Prem.
