Fingers crossed. He would be a huge asset. Assistant Manager.

01 Jun 2026 12:02:38
You may just be right Davey.

01 Jun 2026 12:28:27
The fields, do you know something? ?

Arne Slot's open letter to the fans, published by ECHO.

You walk out under that famous sign in the Anfield tunnel, and you feel a mix of emotions.

Responsibility, of course. To this club's great history.

Expectation, naturally. To honour the legacy that, for 134 years, has made Liverpool FC one of the biggest clubs in world football.

And determination. To compete. To win. To bring success to an Anfield crowd so renowned across the globe.

That all of those emotions would culminate in a Premier League title after just 12 months was beyond special. It was not only a trophy, but a reward for the hard work, sacrifice and commitment shown by so many people throughout the club.

It was made even more meaningful because you got to enjoy it with us. Singing our songs, cheering the goals. And on the day we lifted the trophy, you were there. Lining the streets outside the stadium, filling Anfield in anticipation.

Having had much of that taken from you in 2020, it was never lost on me how much it mattered that you were part of it all. Seeing you come together in your hundreds of thousands on the streets of Liverpool for the title celebrations only reinforced that idea.

What followed on Water Street later that day was shocking and my thoughts remain with all of those affected. I was privileged to witness first-hand your spirit of compassion and unity. It is a spirit that has carried this city through difficult moments before, and one that I hope will help bring the justice and accountability so many have campaigned for over many years.

‌That only weeks after celebrating together we would lose Diogo is indescribable. More than anything, I want to remember a team-mate, a friend and an incredible human being who touched the lives of thousands of you every time he wore this club's famous crest.

In one of the most difficult moments this club has faced, the love, compassion and support shown by the Liverpool family was extraordinary. As I leave this club, it would be remiss of me not to say that the way you honoured Diogo and stood together in his memory will stay with me forever.

The connection we share goes beyond football, beyond European nights under the Anfield lights or the sound of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' being sung from The Kop.

You made me feel welcome from the start and helped me on the path. That is something I cherish.

Of course, it is important to say thank you.

To the players who wore the badge with pride while representing this club across the world. To the staff - not only those on the training ground - but those behind the scenes, whether maintaining the pitches at Anfield or working in the canteen at the training ground.

To the club hierarchy and ownership for your trust and direction. To the legends who supported me and impressed upon me the importance of The Liverpool Way.

It has been a pleasure working with you all.

Liverpool's 20th league title belongs to all of us and it will remain an important chapter in its history. For that we should all be proud.

This club will always judge itself by the biggest honours. That is how it should be.

But I also leave knowing the club is exactly where it belongs: amongst Europe's elite. Securing Champions League football was an important responsibility and one that ensures Liverpool can continue competing at the highest level next season and beyond.

I leave with complete confidence in what lies ahead. The players who have given so much to this club, who have upheld its values and helped create so many unforgettable moments, have built foundations that will endure.

At the same time, a new generation is emerging, ready to write its own story and embrace the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.

Change is part of football, but I know that this club will continue to make its people proud.

When I first stood beneath that sign in the Anfield tunnel, I knew what this club demanded. I leave knowing we never stopped striving for it.

Arne.

Thank you for the title Arne.

Does anyone else think that players are leaving (looks like Alison wants out) because of the antics of Hughes and Edwards?

01 Jun 2026 10:37:57
I do believe that a number of players are not happy with how the club is being run; having to play for a manager that should have been sacked 7 months ago is immensely frustrating, and there's no doubt that leaving Arne in charge for the rest of the season, when the need to axe him was so apparent, has resulted in players questioning the execs. Then, watching them let Alonso go to Chelsea, even though it really seemed like 'the stars had aligned' for him to come to us, must have greatly furthered their doubt in the higher-ups. Add the fact that Gordon had to get involved, which shows us that the suits are really truly making a balls of things behind the scenes and that FSG are not one bit happy.

No doubt the squad has talked at length about these issues; 7 months is a long time for a seed of doubt to grow. Whether Slot leaving is enough for them to want to stay on, we'll have to wait and see. It would be nice to see another head on the chopping block soon. I think that would instil some confidence in the players; it would show them that the owners are taking no crap and really have the club's best interests at heart.

Blaming everyone else as usual.

01 Jun 2026 11:47:03
I'm happy enough with Ireola. Xabi has chosen his own path. He played for us a generation ago, I think we exaggerate this love affair.

01 Jun 2026 13:31:03
Alonso chose to spit in the face of the supporters by signing for a club whose supporters sing vile songs about Hillsborough every year without fail (and were singing them throughout a minutes silence about it too). Whatever legacy or connection to the club Alonso had is gone forever. As far as I'm concerned he's a no mark who has no further business with Liverpool football club and deserves the same contempt as Owen & Sterling.

Hope he gets a deafening round of boos when he shows up with that lot at Anfield. It will be hilarious when he's eventually sacked. He should never ever be considered for the post in the future and never be welcomed back for legends games.

01 Jun 2026 15:30:17
Vik, we didn't follow up with Alonso, we spat in his face; we never offered him a job. What do you expect him to do? Just hang around forever in radio silence, hoping someday we come calling? The man's trying to get his career back on track. It's not like he has any control over or responsibility for what the Chelsea fanbase does.

He's a respectful man, and I have no doubt whatsoever that he fully condemns such actions. Judging somebody on association is genuinely moronic, especially in this sort of situation.

Farewell Arne.

You came in with big shoes to fill, went some way to filling them, then emptied out all the hard work

I’ll be grateful for the dignity and respect you showed to Klopp’s legacy, managing through the Jota tragedy and continued dignity through the last few months as it all came to a head, and you ultimately paid the price.

You’re one of two Premier League winners for the club. That can’t be taken away from you and I hope you find an opportunity that is a better fit for you and your family.

It wasn’t meant to be. God’s timing for you and us.

Go well
YNWA.

Football didn't start when the PL started.

01 Jun 2026 11:50:13
Well I've only been able to have a few pints celebrating a title win with my mates twice in over 40 years of being a fan. 2025 was the only one my son was there with us, enjoying a few scoops. That day will be remembered forever, so thank you, Arne.

01 Jun 2026 12:33:36
You have mates? What a strange world.

01 Jun 2026 13:41:38
I do, WD40. Probably why I don't feel the need to universally agree with everything on an internet fans' site. ? You seem like a happy soul, I'd say you're the centre of every party.

Hi TheMidfield Engine, we don’t want any more Schlots. ?

Seeing as you have trouble citing your sources, Flo, I figured I'd give you a hand.

31 May 2026 22:19:39
I won't believe it until Guy posts.

01 Jun 2026 00:39:59
Or grav.

01 Jun 2026 05:04:24
Mate, you have zero credit. Your statements come across so direct, it's like you "think" you're the king of rumours, yet unfortunately with all of your bad "slot is definitely staying" rumours, you've actually got not one person believing a thing you say anymore

Sometimes, it's just best to be ?

01 Jun 2026 06:21:04
Flo, thank you for telling us what we all know already.

Kerkez/ Kostas
Vvd/Gomes
Jaquet/Leoni
Kayode/ Frimpong

Warton/Grav
Anderson/Jones

Sboz/Rio
Wirtz/ Elliott
Diomande/Chiesa

Isak/Hugo

Stop reading when I saw Joe and Kostas.

31 May 2026 17:20:55
Looks like Kostas will indeed be back.

31 May 2026 18:44:15
Tsimi starts off slow, but once he gets going he's ok. But it takes him a few games being a 2nd choice.

31 May 2026 19:43:59
Would love Kayode.

31 May 2026 20:14:10
The world "semi" is doing some heavy lifting in this post. No chance we sign Anderson.

31 May 2026 11:49:19
To clarify my post last night, Fabrizio Romano reported it was all but done and Iraola would be our next manager.

Hence welcome to Liverpool to our next manager. If Fabrizio is wrong so be it be he did post the slot sacking before anyone else.

Not interested in any view that quotes the fraud Romano.
He is clueless. He was saying last week Slot was staying.
As I've said before I'm not in the know but came across a guy that was adamant slot would be gone and Iraola in and that was 10 days ago.
Romano steals a living through a stupid catchphrase

31 May 2026 12:51:57
Imo Romano was decent until he blew up in popularity. He's now more of an influencer than a sports journalist.

01 Jun 2026 02:34:40
I think people are really obsessed with what these guys say.

None of the people saying "Slot was saying" were saying that the club had confirmed that.

All of them said words to the effect that "all the noise from the club" indicated he would stay.

So all that means is that Hughes has played a blinder and like ed1 told us a while ago, had stopped the leaks

01 Jun 2026 10:21:36
To be even more fair, OP, Carra and the other reliables on here called it nearly 6 months ago.
I love this site. I won a tenner on Saturday from a work colleague, with a friendly bet on Slot not being manager first game of 26/27.

I would have been disappointed had he stayed, but this site's info made me confident he would be gone. Genuinely looking forward to next season again now!
