Looking at the squad going into the next season, I feel like we definitely need to sign two RW to replace Salah. If Plan A is to sign Yan Diomande for 87m, thoughts on resigning Harry Wilson as second winger? He's free, homegrown and grew up in our academy. We could do a lot worse?

I don't think so myself, Gav. Would rather see Rio get time on right or Kieran Morrison. Also, Frimpong can cover rw as wing as well.
No doubt we need a new player to start there next season.

He left for regular game time and no doubt will be seeking that from his next club. Apart from the odd purple patch, he is an average player, in my opinion. We should be looking to the future rather than 29 year old ex players.

Whoever we bring in, they will need speed and directness. Nothing against Harry Wilson, but perhaps not the profile we need right now. If we did, we could just keep Harvey Elliott or give Kieran Morrison a chance who are similar profiles.



If the Diomande fee restricts funding a second winger deal, looking at cheaper options like Leicester's Abdul Fatawu, Lyon's Malick Fofana, Hoffenheim's Bazoumana Toure, Al-Ittihad's Moussa Diaby and Wolfsburg's Mohamed Amoura might make some sense.

Sadly, FSG only approved the sackings. It was Red Sox CBO Craig Breslow who pushed for it. Probably the equivalent of Edwards for us.

I suspect the direction of travel is that if LFC finish top 5, assuming Slot wants to, he will honour his contract?!

For me that view is only strengthened by the reliable posters on her saying Alonso appears unlikely for LFC! No judgement against anyone who posts on here in good faith because circumstances within football change in a blink!

Am sorry, but all this talk about is Slot staying or going, and it's 50% one way or another to me is nonsense. The club are a very professional business and they will have made their mind up by now one way or another. They will not go into preseason without a manager in place that they are very confident will last the full season.

They will not buy players without consulting the manager for next season to ensure the player meets that manager's game plan. Why spend say 60m on a player who the manager feels will not suit his system?

Not how it works under the current model, mate, that's why Arne's a head coach and not a manager. He gets input, his suggestions will be heard, but he has no power. Hughes and Edwards make the calls on transfers, and they will continue to do so in spite of who the manager may be next season. Arne hinted earlier in the season that he didn't get the players he wanted and also spoke about the lack of squad depth, strange thing to do if you just happily spent 450m on new talent, that's because he didn't, it wasn't his call.

Like many of us, he probably felt it was a lot of money to spend on not so many players. All you have to do is look at the transfers we made last summer in spite of the system we use, and you can see there's a disconnect.

Spot on, Chewy. No way Slot would have wanted Frimpong and Kerkez as both fullbacks. Also, doubt very much he would have wanted Isak and Ekitike. Just look at how his former two teams played regarding what he expected from his two wingers, fullbacks and centre forward. None of the signings fitted that pattern.

We should want Arsenal. It's better for the league if different teams in it. They are not 115 times cheats. They've been our biggest rivals, with dodgy decisions in their favour costing us titles. But I just couldn't listen to them, other lot, they are unbelievable. They are unbearable when they've won f all, imagine them if they were champions.

The best about Arsenal and corners, the set piece coach is lauded as a genius by TV commentators and punters, and it got to the point that when they get a corner Arteta allows the coach in to his area to organise the corner play and he stands back.

By the sounds of it no 1 at LFC can say with absolute certainty what is going to happen beyond this season!

A lot of big teams will be in the market for the same managers so if Slot sees out his contract and things go badly then by Christmas there will be less attainable options!

A lot up in the air at the moment.

Will Champions League be enough for Slot to remain and is he even happy to stay?

If Alonso didn’t have links to LFC, Writz and Frimpong would he be a noticeable upgrade?

Iraola by all accounts is homesick and would doing well at Bournemouth translate to success at LFC?

Sebastian Hoeness is punching above his weight in Germany but would be a gamble!

When Rodgers was sacked Carlo and Jurgen were attainable! There doesn’t seem to be to be an obvious answer this time!

I am trying to illustrate that going down a rabbit hole about Slot in the absence of certainty could drive anyone insane LOL!

According to El Correo - newspaper headquartered in Bilbao - Athletic Bilbao have an agreement in place with Edin Terzic, so Iraola won't be going there.

Why would he want to join LFC with the complete mess that Clot has left, it took LFC 30 years to win their first PL, another major rebuild is on the cards, as Clot has utterly failed with his first rebuild attempt.

Iraola has rebuilt Bournemouth with meagre funds in three seasons, average home gates of 11, 000, a vastly under rated manager, which proves his managerial and coaching skills are second to none, he uses his football acumen to solve problems which is the best and cheapest.

We used to be in the top echelon of clubs, now we are in the race to the bottom under Clot.

He's just a troll calling our current manager names. It's unbecoming of a Liverpool supporter. I don't wish to tell you how to run your site, but posters like that offer nothing of any value and will just drive way good posters.

Ed001, I meant his whole posts in terms of the vitriol and abuse, not just that one word (that's just childish more than anything; similar to when people used to call Hodgson, "Woy"). He's just going over the top with the slating and posting the same thing over and over again.

I'm all for banter and I'm glad some of my group chats will never see the light of day, trust me. But it's not really banter what he's doing because for a start, Slot's not even on these pages! He's just posting overly negative waffle over and over again and calling people stupid names.

Back to Magnus - Could be Sociedad or Osasuna and lastly Alves, I believe all fall under the "Basque" region. Although RS, I'm sure, just won a cup, so their manager should be safe.

SirBobby - I think Iraola being on the up after Rayo Vallecano and Bournemouth, if he's going back to LaLiga, the most logical place would be Athletic Bilbao. He's a fan, he's a former captain and a club legend and would be succeeding Valverde - who he's said is his biggest reference and gave him his professional debut.
Since his early days, Iraola has always been seen as smart, so joining the likes of Utd or Chelsea now - I don't see it. Hope it's either Liverpool or Athletic - I also don't get why they would want Terzic.

Last night their president gave an interview without giving names saying 'I won't say who the new coach will be, but I can say he is a top coach'. In today's market, and attainable for them, that would certainly be Iraola, Alonso, albeit with a Real Sociedad background, and right now no other names come to mind!
Also, I don't think there has ever been so many conversation about managers. We speak about them as we would players - but I just love it!

I see the Rafael Leao links are back in the online media today. I really want to believe we'll be shopping at the level of Leao, Barcola, Diomande and Olise. If we added 2 wingers of that caliber we'd be some team next season. Isak would also have a field day next season with that kind of service.

Whenever I have watched leao he's looked decent when he's got the ball, but without he's looked lazy. Doesn't look the type of player to bust a gut to help lb out if he got caught out of position. But i don't watch ac week in, week out so i could be wrong

Milan have not had a top squad for a long time now (unfortunately). I remember the Milan teams we played in 05 and 07. It's a shame to see them now.

I was always a fan of Leao, I think he is a better footballer than Gakpo, I don't really find their styles too similar at all, he actually possesses the ability to take on his man and win 1v1's, he's faster, more aware, quicker to make a decision, better link up play, much better in transition, times runs well to get in behind.

He would definitely offer more of what we need than Gakpo currently does.
