Good luck today Eds, you all do a fantastic job. I imagine it'll be extra hectic and you could be censoring out a few swear words if Hughes isn't a busy boy.

I wonder if Camara will be renting out Babelcopter haha.

I just can't believe all these other teams are doing quick deals at reasonable prices. City are moving on sharpish from Gakpo, now seeing £52m for Kone to Chelsea. We've had all window, and currently we are buying young talent. Really hope there is something up their sleeves before the window shuts.

I'm only talking about myself here, so apologies if anyone else is completely obsessed with the transfer business of all Premier League teams.

However, I only do my Google/NewsNow searches for Liverpool linked players and transfer news. Also, I only (repeatedly) visit this Rumours forum.

If you were just to look at public (i.e.

BBC Sport/Sky Sports) announcements, the Barcola saga that we have endured would not necessarily look like a saga to a, say, Chelsea fan.

What I'm (clumsily) trying to say is if you were fervently following another team, you might think their sagas are long and drawn out, and not as immediate and quick as you'd think.

It's the same for almost all fanbases, Zed. Just pop into any of the sites and all their fans are complaining that their clubs are moving too slowly in the market whereas other clubs move quickly.

I laughed to myself when I saw someone post on the Arsenal rumours page lamenting that we can close deals better than them. We live in a bubble where the club we support is all we can see sometimes.

Hi Eds,

With Hughes leaving his role after today thank god. Do you know if the club have approached his replacement yet? Or who would you expect/like the club to approach?

Many thanks for all of your hard work

{Ed001's Note - I would bring back Ian Graham but I expect they will probably just promote from within for now. I think the new consortium will want a say and they will want to look for the right man, rather than just jumping in.}

Genuine question . Has it been announced by the club that Hughes is going to? I hope it has and I missed it but I thought I'd ask.

We won't announce it when the window is still open, WDW, so you didn't miss anything. It's more out of hope that he will be leaving once the window shuts. But seeing that there are whispers he has been working for Al-Hilal this summer too, it is expected that he will leave.

Was just coming on to post that Chelsea are closing in on Manu Kone for 52mil according to Sky Sports. Surprising they didn’t go for Camara.
Then I see Carras' post that an incoming may still happen.
That’s what I felt when I saw Chelsea going for Kone.

Camara would have been cheaper, dare I say, so what’s happened?
Has he said no to Chelsea because he knows Liverpool are working on something? A deal might be alive?
Come on Richard, get it done! I never doubted you!

Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs just stated on Talksport that Kone looks to be off as Gasparini is saying no and Chelsea have bid €45 million for Camara.

We should have been in for him.

Long time reader, but for the first time I feel the need to post...
Belgian, so a bit of info about Belgian players: goalkeeper Brughmans: amazing talent. Everyone is surprised about the fee in Belgium, not about the transfer. Amazing talent, really happy to see him come. If (and it is a big if) he keeps progressing, he will become one of the best. I haven't seen a lot of 18 yo this good (I can really only think about Courtois, Donnarumma, Casillas..) I am not saying he will be as good, but these are the only ones I think were better as 18yo..

But what I really, really don't like: Fofana might be off to Arsenal for 40 million? He is an amazing talent, we have been interested, is a known Liverpool fan.. keeping Gakpo while we could have gotten Fofana + 40 million is just criminal.. Fofana would already be an upgrade, can also play right wing.. he is one of the best talents I have ever seen in Belgium (when he still played at Ghent), unlucky with injuries last year, but for this price an absolute steal...

01 Sep 2026 10:09:17
Don't see any logic in paying any sort of money for a Left winger. We need a very good right winger.

We've no need for a LW who missed most of last season due to injury.

Chewy, the sudden clamour for injured/injury players this summer is astounding.

Hey @Gert from Belgium, I live in Brussels, man.

Where you at, man?

I know Oli, goes to show you the absolute state of the market too.

01 Sep 2026 11:42:59
All true, but keeping an LW who wasn't injured, still didn't produce an can't play RW while we can have 40M, a winger who can play LW or RW (even though he prefers LW), a higher ceiling and younger. There isn't a reason not to let Gakpo go.

Might go to Sunderland, great news, at least we can buy him in 2 years for 80M...
@OliRed, I live in Ghent, watching the occasional game (that's how I know Fofana this well.)

Gert (or is it Geert?), I agree with you that Gakpo did not need to be sold except he wanted to go.

Nice city, Ghent. Never been even tho, my wife and I have been planning to go but never do, lol.

We will go someday, man.

Looks like there will be no more incoming today and we are sticking with what we have. Like everyone, I agree this window has been poor, but we have to get behind the team we all love.

01 Sep 2026 09:17:02
Sending the Ed's best wishes for today. patience of a saint required. Good luck gentlemen ⚽️

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

01 Sep 2026 09:11:04
Rest easy everyone. Stand down ITKs. Take today off Eds. BBC have said unlikely for any more incomings. The LFC transfer window has indeed slammed shut. And I, for one, am glad.

I've just heard ed001 on a radio show saying he thinks Liverpool Rumours have ended their interest in Ornatein because his news is awful rubbish.
