Any truth we're now looking at Nice left back Henrique Dalbert?

Never seen him, any good anyone?

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - No. Nice have offers from two sides that were enough to allow the clubs to talk with the player. So far one club has done so the other not. Both will be pondering whether to pay more. None of this involves Liverpool.}

03 Jul 2017 10:59:50
Eds, if Mendy were to reduce his ridiculous wage demands, would we look again or have we moved on?

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - No, he will be moving but not to LFC.}

1.) 03 Jul 2017 11:24:55
Ed002, do you know where he will be moving to? or if not, who are the
interested clubs? I know its not technically Liverpool related but your reply is on this page, Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City are trying hardest of the interested sides. Monaco accept he will move on.}

2.) 03 Jul 2017 11:58:08
Thanks Ed002.

3.) 03 Jul 2017 12:01:27
Thanks Ed002.

4.) 03 Jul 2017 20:14:48
Hi eds i see that lucas digne is up for sale why aren't liverpool going to knock down barcelonas door. lfc are so slow at transfers . can you see Can going .

{Ed025's Note - the price i imagine deano, and can is expected to stay mate..

5.) 03 Jul 2017 21:57:16
Thanks ed.

{Ed025's Note - no worries mate..

01 Jun 2017 10:55:07
According to Sky News Arabia, we have agreed a fee of £43m for Salah.

kirkbyred1

1.) 01 Jun 2017 11:44:06
I for one certainly hope not.

2.) 01 Jun 2017 11:46:25
What the absolute f

I thought he was a more reasonable option.

Would of had lamar or costa for that price.

Yes im bashing. Just that's a heavy outlay for a player in the prem 2 seaso s ago who couldn't settle.

Yes different circumstance and if he does want back in then he must be over whatever problem h3 had back then but heafty outlay for some question marks.

Talent wise. Need wise. Option wise. Brilliat signing.

3.) 01 Jun 2017 12:02:06
Need wise - don't we have a right winger who was pretty good last season?

4.) 01 Jun 2017 12:02:48
He doesn't work hard enough and I am hoping this is fake news.

And when you say 'need wise' I'm assuming you mean for our left-wing? But he does not play on the left-wing.

5.) 01 Jun 2017 12:12:27
Steep.

6.) 01 Jun 2017 12:18:42
Surely not! Chelsea paid £12-16m for him 3 years ago! Which seemed fair! Seems a little excessive to think his stock has risen another £30m since then

Klopp is known for being a very frugal manager in the transfer windows. This seems out of character.

7.) 01 Jun 2017 12:31:43
Back to wasting money again then.

8.) 01 Jun 2017 12:34:54
wait what! People bitching about players who we may or may not have signed! No wonder Ed2 is sick of people on here.

9.) 01 Jun 2017 12:49:07
He is left footed at least unlike Brandt.

10.) 01 Jun 2017 13:14:15
He's quality and we need more quality, but that seems mega steep.

11.) 01 Jun 2017 13:14:36
Roma want £43m, we offered £29.5m by all accounts. Ed002 said that there were reasons he didn't settle well at Chelsea, although I can't help thinking that Mourinho either likes you or he doesn't and heaven help you if he doesn't.

He certainly has looked like the winger that he was at Basel this season and it can't be argued that he doesn't have end product to match his pace and skill, because he clearly does as the amount of goals and assists would prove that.

Hopefully he wants to prove both Mourinho and Chelsea wrong by succeeding on his second go at the premier league and where better to rub Mourinho's nose in it than at Anfield?

Only concern is what happens when the AFCON comes around as missing two pacy important wingers is a big deal, although it is some time off.

12.) 01 Jun 2017 13:29:32
Why does everyone moan about the amount of money a player costs? Its not your pocket its coming from, the fact is we are a premier league club and that increases the price of a player instantly so we always have to pay over the odds nowadays. At best a player stays put because they don't want to sell him or at worst you lose out to another premier league side for being too tight with the purse strings.

{Ed025's Note - im with you jcw..

13.) 01 Jun 2017 13:41:55
I think that would be a reasonable price for the player. Similar to what we paid for Mane last year.

14.) 01 Jun 2017 14:47:47
Quite like the idea of Mane and Salah running at defenders. Enough to give any full back nightmares.

05 Jun 2016 21:45:39
Would I be correct to assume the Mustafi rumours coming from Spain are untrue?

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - I obviously know nothing of any rumours but I can assure you that Liverpool have not made any approach regarding Mustafi at this time.}

1.) 05 Jun 2016 22:16:53
We have not made an approach at this time? Meaning we might possibly go in for him at some point in the near future? :D I'm only joking ED, I won't ask for more information regarding Shkodran Mustafi. I am a huge fan of Mustafi but will wait and see what happens, like everyone else.

I would just like to thank you for being patient with us - as I know we can be quite unruly when something Liverpool related is mentioned in the media - and would like to thank you for answering many of our questions, especially when they have been asked a hundred times before.

You are an invaluable source of information on this site and I always look forward to hearing your honest opinions. You tell us things straight - often saying things we don't want to hear - but you are always honest and I appreciate that. You and all the other EDs make this site my most searched for website on the internet, and I am sure I am one of many.

YNWA.

2.) 05 Jun 2016 23:21:18
Tricky one, ex-bluenose starting for a team in the champions league. I don't think he's a legitimate target.
Assuming Sakho is not going to get banned, we have plenty of centre backs.

It's not a priority position IMO.

04 Jun 2015 16:55:12
Hi era. Are the recent comments by Bacca's agent a ploy to get a better contract or is there interest in moving? If so would we have any realistic chance?

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what his agent has said but don't hold your breath for a move to Liverpool. Whilst Monaco, Roma, Spurs, Lazio and Inter (not Milan) have expressed an interest in Bacca, the player says he is happy with Sevilla and the future plans the club has. His agent has mader unsolicited approaches to two English sides, including Arsenal.}

A plea for perspective - I think the most important thing to come from the window is a significant shift in our status, the days of losing the likes of Willian and Sanchez could be over.

Van Dijk chose us over Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal and would already be playing for us if Blackpoolgate hadn't happened. A lesson hopefully learned. Lemar rejected Arsenal (and hence 'London') because he wanted to play for LFC. Keita will join us next year despite strong interest from others and was willing to commit now than wait what happens when the release fee could be triggered. AOC rejected huge offers from Chelsea and Arsenal to come here - let's support him with the passion he's already shown us. Solanke chose joining us over staying at Chelsea - this coup will only see its true value in a few years but I am excited at the player he could turn out to be. That speaks volumes.

So what about Phil wanting to leave, let's be pragmatic about that. As for Can, we hope he signs, if not we move on. If he's nt signing very soon then I can't see when, I'd imagine Juve or maybe Bayern may come sniffing in January on a pre-contract. But the future is great - TAA, Gomez, Kent, Woodburn, Ward will be hovering around the first team and are already getting some opportunities. Not sure how often Grujic will play but it's a long season. Can and Phil will be replaced if necessary and apart from a CB all looks very promising. Full backs sorted, plenty of midfield choices and if Sturridge can stay fit and Ings can slowly be reintegrated we'll have no problems covering for Firmino. Our season won't break down if Mane or Salah get injured but it would obviously have an effect but there is much to be optimistic about.

1.) 01 Sep 2017 08:49:38
Coutinho needs to do some serious apologising to all and sundry for his actions to even be considered back in the fold.

I do think the club need to work hard to get Can to sign as it is clear that he is developing into a top class footballer and we need to show him that he will be rewarded as such and he can realise his ambitions here.

Do any of the Eds know what specific sticking points there are over his contract (or is it a RTFP case? ) .

{Ed001's Note - he wanted more guarantees over his situation, which he has not been given, nor will he get. There were no issues other than he felt he was being phased out by the club.}

2.) 01 Sep 2017 08:50:29
My 2 issues about the VVD situation are, 1 everyone assumes Southampton would ever sell him and 2 would he have been more interested in LFC than others without the tapping up. I get the impression it has become a very complicated mess and I do understand the possibility the club wasn't going to bid unless Soton accepted a bid from someone else first. Ultimately the club has to stop the illegal or even dubious approaches and play straight down the line from now.

I do agree with everything else you say, this club has a manager people want to play for, has the money and reputation again that is attracting good names and most of all has some very good players currently in the squad, including Gomez and TAA in defence. Future still bright.

3.) 01 Sep 2017 09:16:34
Do you think this is something that can be resolved Ed001? There should be some middle ground? Given the fact that there is potentially 60 games a season (plus internationals), you would hardly want to play all of them and then go to a world cup would you?

{Ed001's Note - I think he has decided it is better to go being perfectly honest.}

4.) 01 Sep 2017 09:21:48
Future is great? Selling a 23 year old proper Center midfielder? I would send Hendo back to Sunderland and assure Emre Can for his position and games! Can is the future you should be talking about mate!

5.) 01 Sep 2017 09:25:04
I can understand why he might have thought that with the Keita bids but do you think it's the truth Ed? I thought Klopp really rated him so is he really viewing him as more of a backup player in your opinion?

{Ed001's Note - I think it is more Klopp sees him playing from deeper and he doesn't feel that is where he wants to be. For his own development as a player and his international future.}

6.) 01 Sep 2017 09:52:30
Cheers Ed

And thanks for all the work this window.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome SGR, though I am hoping I am wrong on this one and he decides to stay.}

30 Aug 2017 21:26:21
Messenger duty only.

Conflicting reports re Lemar. One usually reliable source says £98m euro fee agreed. Another says negotiations will continue tomorrow but Monaco allowing Lemar to have medical tonight. Not heard of the latter happening before, is it common practice when deals go to the wire?

kirkbyred1

{Ed002's Note - it is not common practice to get players out of bed in the middle of the night for a medical.}

1.) 30 Aug 2017 23:01:15
Maybe we could sneak into his room and do it whilst he's asleep?

2.) 30 Aug 2017 23:05:48
Eddie how would a medical work then one a match day?

{Ed002's Note - It ends with a cough.}

3.) 31 Aug 2017 00:29:52
Impressive Ed02 - after all the stuff you guys have been put through that one actually made me laugh out loud. How you keep your patience is way, way beyond me - but thanks to you (and the other Eds for doing so) Special shout out for Ed025 too - the lad tries to get some banter going which is brilliant - shame that as an Evertonian the lad just isn't the sharpest tool in the box :-)

30 Aug 2017 12:21:26
Reds, I think we need to not focus on whether AOC will join or not, or whether he's good enough or not but we need to remember where Arsenal bought him from. Then all becomes clear.

kirkbyred1

1.) 30 Aug 2017 12:32:10
Nailed it!

2.) 30 Aug 2017 12:57:05
Listen. Yes it's been good 4ehecting others for a potential move to us but we could all do that, I want to move to Liverpool. Should they sign me?

We should only buy better players than we have. Which up yo now we have been doing. Is ox that?

Oh he's a utility player. What is that exactly. A back of all trades and master of none. A 70 mil man. If we need a 70 min man then we have grujic, sturridge, solanke, Woodburn, lallana, and potentially origin after Thursday.

We're does the ox fit into that.

We should be looking yo keep coutinho or sign someone who can potentially emulate what we he for us. Not someone who has to play rwb because he's not as good as welbeck, walcott or iwobi.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 12:57:46
So by that reckoning Walcott will follow soon!
:- (.

{Ed001's Note - he was a Liverpool fan as a boy as well.}

4.) 30 Aug 2017 13:14:26
{Ed001's Note - he was a Liverpool fan as a boy as well. }

So was I.
And I've lived in Southampton for a year.
I'm still available for transfer at a cut price £25m.

{Ed001's Note - there we go then, replacement for Couts sorted.}

5.) 30 Aug 2017 13:38:57
It should quote simple be Lemar or coutinho now.

Vvd obviously.

That's it. There are choices.

The ox. Really. Year after year we kicked off on Brendan for signings like that. A utility man. Like Milner? In fact we should sign him. oh wait.

28 Aug 2017 23:40:47
Hearing rumours that a third bid of £83m for Lemar accepted. Can anyone confirm?

kirkbyred1

1.) 28 Aug 2017 23:49:24
heard origi could be part of the deal? .

2.) 28 Aug 2017 23:51:03
I hope so he pure quality.

3.) 29 Aug 2017 00:47:03
Hearing rumours or you made it up?

4.) 29 Aug 2017 00:56:38
More like hearing voice lol, how long has this been happening 😂.

5.) 29 Aug 2017 00:59:10
Origi pure quality?

6.) 29 Aug 2017 02:44:19
who said that.

18 Aug 2017 14:46:39
Q for Ed001

Do you think we've had a left back as good as Barney in recent times?

The only player I felt would be his equal was Burrows, but I felt he didn't quite live up to the expectations. Not sure why, do you know if he had a bad attitude or didn't train hard enough? Love to hear your thought on all things left.

kirkbyred1

{Ed001's Note - I don't think we have ever had a left back as consistently good as Barney no. Fabio Aurelio would have been up there if he wasn't made of tissue paper.

Burrows spent time being coached under Souness' reign, when physicality was favoured over technique.}

1.) 18 Aug 2017 14:54:50
CHeers mate. Always liked Barney too.

2.) 18 Aug 2017 15:04:49
Staunton was our last decent left full. played center half too. scored a hat trick upfront and played in goals. Burrows wouldn't lace his boots imo.

{Ed001's Note - Aurelio was class on those rare occasions he wasn't injured.}

3.) 18 Aug 2017 15:15:18
Agreed but unfortunately for both him and the club he wasnt on the pitch enough. pity.

{Ed001's Note - it was a pity, how much better would we have been if he could have managed to stay fit?}

4.) 18 Aug 2017 15:28:00
True. always be remembered for the free kick at old trafford. I think we allowed too many decent players leave way too early, Beardsley Houghton Staunton to name just 3. Can you think of any others?

5.) 18 Aug 2017 15:45:25
Just had to look at some YouTube clips of Aurelio after reading this.
I remember opposition wingers having no fun at all playing against him, such a tidy defender, you knew when you saw him on the team sheet you will either be getting a clean sheet or the stretcher out lol
Nice seeing a left back of ours actually in position for once as well.

6.) 18 Aug 2017 15:51:57
If memory serves me right, Houghton had his best season, won the club's player of the year and Souness sold him for a million quid to Villa - unbelievable.
Staunton wasn't getting his game and was sold for around the same to Villa.
3rd bid for Coutinho rejected just now apparently of about £120m.

7.) 18 Aug 2017 16:39:22
Eds what did ye think of Steve finnan during his time at lfc? I know he was a right back, but he's sorely missed!

{Ed001's Note - fantastic player with an excellent attitude. Every time a manager tried to replace him, he raised his game and saw off the competition. Brilliant player. Massively underrated.}

8.) 18 Aug 2017 20:47:26
What about John a riise scored some scorchers.

Ed0025, only just noticed your reply. I appreciate your apology and of course I accept it. Understand completely.

On a lighter note, I might need to change my humorous (but slightly facetious) comment of the Blues finishing 7th. I can see them above Arsenal and Spurs for sure and personally hoping they finish above the rubbish so 3rd and 4th wouldn't be too bad for Merseyside! Love the banter between Blues and Reds, know some great Blues lads and hope they have a good (but not above Liverpool good) season. Cheers mate.

kirkbyred1

{Ed025's Note - nice one kirkby, yeah it would be nice if we could give the mancs and chelsea a run for their money mate, liverpool are looking strong especially in attack but we need a forward badly if we are to be up there..but heres hoping..

Ed0025, I enjoy your banter and you can take as well as you give but your Avi Cohen comment was out of line mate.

{Ed025's Note - your right kirkby and i apologize mate, i was looking for a name from the past and his came to mind, i never realized he had passed and would never knowingly disrespect anyone, big faux pas on my part and i feel terrible about that mate..

Jay, before criticisng people you should check your facts; Ings is completely right. Beating Palace was not the point, improving goal difference WAS, hence still pressing at 3-0 rather than shutting up shop.

People talk about Gerrard because it was the last thing that happened to cost us in the title race. What about Toure at West Brom or the moment I felt we lost it was when Mannone made a real howler in the last minute, Sunderland were holding Man City 2-2 then he let's the ball through him to give City the vital 2 points. YOu could even go back to our game at the Etihad. We lost 2-1 but near the end Sterling missed a sitter - that would have won us the title if everything else had happened the same. But everyone moans about Gerrard because it happened later.

Partially agree with Harry; Grujic for Gini but keep Bobby at 9. Sturridge still not 100%, Origi not ready for such a big game and keep Solanke as an impact sub if needed or to give 1 of top3 a rest if game safe (probably Mane as we need him fresh for Sunday)

TAA and Robertson to start. Maybe Gomez alongside Matip?
