If the brad Smith deal goes through, who do you think is most likely to replace him at this stage?

{Ed001's Note - I still think Chilwell.}

1.) 24 Jul 2016 08:44:15
Thanks ed appreciate the quick reply, I was hoping chilwell, I know he is not the finished article but he certainly looks like he has bags of potential.

2.) 24 Jul 2016 09:28:27
I really want Chilwell he looks class, surprised we are squabbling over price, he seems really keen to join.

3.) 24 Jul 2016 09:26:55
ED001, do u reckoning if we are letting Smith go then a replacement has been sought?

{Ed001's Note - we have just bought a player who can cover left back, which means Smith was unlikely to be needed. We are still trying to bring in a specialist left back as well though.}

4.) 24 Jul 2016 10:25:27
Trust me it will be LB thar is not even mention in this site or others. A signing that will once again embarrass those who claim to be in the know.

5.) 24 Jul 2016 10:48:51
Leekuanyew. What an embarrassing disrespectful thing to say what's it's obvious the editors on here clearly know more about what's going on than you! What correct information have you ever provided on this site for us to trust you?

6.) 24 Jul 2016 11:01:54
Surprised we're letting Smith and Flano go from arguably the weakest 2 positions in our team, I think its quite poor.

7.) 24 Jul 2016 11:25:37
Lee - if you don't like it, then you know where the door is. Get it?

8.) 24 Jul 2016 11:34:42
Definitely going to use the money for Chilwell.

9.) 24 Jul 2016 12:08:56
I can't believe Brad Smith could bring us 6 million.

10.) 24 Jul 2016 13:51:44
I'm convinced it will be amavi from villa to replace smith.

11.) 24 Jul 2016 14:48:43
Lee - wind it in love.

12.) 25 Jul 2016 06:03:47
Sakho should also be able to provide emergency cover at left back.

16 Jun 2016 16:32:42
Any truth in balo to besiktas ed?

{Ed002's Note - Mino has been offering him around but there are no Liverpool discussions etc.. So early days.}

1.) 16 Jun 2016 19:36:34
I'll take him I'm looking for staff 😁.

2.) 16 Jun 2016 19:52:07
I'm planning on having a garden party on the 5th of November. He can be the head of the entertainment if he wants?

3.) 16 Jun 2016 21:19:25
Cheers ed.

4.) 17 Jun 2016 02:29:57
Like as if the turkish need help with fireworks.

5.) 17 Jun 2016 06:02:16
Dont invite him to anything, never mind a garden party.

22 Jun 2014 13:52:22
Morning Eds and Reds, Its not a secret that uruguays strongest attribute is there attack, but i'm just wondering if Liverpool have shown any interest in any other uruguayan players, Cheers Dev

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from Cavani and Lavezzi from elsewhere, not Liverpool.}

1.) Lavezzi is from argentina

2.) 22 Jun 2014 16:55:38
Chelsea? or others?

{Ed002's Note - Both.}

3.) Cheers

Hey eds

Do you just expect outgoings today?

No last minute suprises.

I am and i am not happy with the business we have done we have strengthed a lot and have had dept to some areas that we previously lacked, however i did expect to see a lb and established cdm, i think stewart can do a job but i don't think he is the polished. Milner at lb isn't an improvement defensively but i think going forward he offers a little bit more then moreno.

I think matip and lovren can become a strong combination, i know for awhile now we have struggled defensively but you can't blame that all on the defence are midfield just seem to let players dance past them as we are more focused on going forward then we are defensively.
Thats just my 2 cents worth anyway.

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts.}

1.) 30 Aug 2016 13:41:26
For a side with top 4/ title ambitions not having a decent, specialist LB is criminal. Hats off to whoever messed up getting our priority LB signings in. let's hope Milner can settle into that LB slot and do a job until January.

2.) 30 Aug 2016 14:17:59
We have no ambition mate that's the problem.

3.) 30 Aug 2016 14:46:30
Just outgoing Dev mate. We are done with incomings.

4.) 30 Aug 2016 14:54:15
No ambition? Klopp is clearly happy with Moreno and Milner as the LB options, I don't know why everyone is struggling so hard to understand that.

5.) 30 Aug 2016 14:56:02
Not just left back is it? Clyne is abysmal too. Cannot believe it hasn't been sorted. 2 2 best centre backs in world football couldn't keep clean sheets with our full backs.

wouldn't disagree with red man rues tbh.

6.) 30 Aug 2016 14:56:08
Klopp has no ambition or the owners? Klopp for sure does as for me do the owners.

7.) 30 Aug 2016 14:58:41
Don't think ambition is the problem. Liverpool lost its way regarding transfers a long time ago and we're currently trying to rectify that. Problem is we're choosing the wrong fights to get tough and losing priority targets as a result. Besides a GK, the LB was top of the list to sort out and through our off-kilter transfer policy we still have that problem going into the season.

06 Jul 2016 23:02:49

Any truth klopps been offered a new contract?

{Ed002's Note - No idea.}

27 Jun 2016 11:32:48
Morning Eds and reds,

So mane is having is medical at the moment if the reports are to be believed, I for one am excited about the transfer and I think most people are too.

I think the fear is that he won't perform like he has for Southampton, and the reason why some people aren't happy about the transfer is not about the player but about the reported fee.

If it's to be believed he will be our most expensive player, and when you see mkhitaryin going to United for 26 million fans are thinking the money could be spent better.

I think we have to look at the bigger picture here. We don't have European football to offer these players, we have klopp and some of the best fans around, so let's Back the manager and the players he brings in and wait to see what happens.

Who ever pulls on the Jersey deserves are full support, and we shouldn't be bashing them before they even signed.

1.) 27 Jun 2016 11:46:26

Micky has proven multiple seasons in Ukraine (when we were scouting I believe), he has been Armenian player of the year before and has had very good record at Dortmund. Both goal wise and assist wise.

Comparing Micky (assuming they get him for 26 or less than 30) would be a steal when you see Mane going for 34.

Micky might still flop in PL but he is easily much better than Mane. No comparison.

Yeah, as you said we have no other option than to support any player who plays for us.

2.) 27 Jun 2016 12:04:24
I don't see how that the fee that ManU are paying has any relation to the Mane deal.
I really do wish that we stop comparing one players price to another, there are more than a few variables that set each deal different from another.

Yes, liverpool are overpaying and I don't blame Southampton for making the most out of the deal if the buyer is willing or is desperate enough (or stupid some cases) .

Now the deal is done (almost), let's just wait and see how the deal turns out at the end of this coming season.

3.) 27 Jun 2016 12:05:40
Why compare the 2, totally different type of player, we haven't got CL or any European football, so why would he leave Dortmund to come to us, United will also pay him higher wages, so your comparison is a complete waste of time. Being Armenian player of the year does not make him a great player, and in the 2 games against us this year he certainly didn't look like a class player or game changer, whereas Mane did against us.

4.) 27 Jun 2016 12:08:00
Mickey only has 1 year left on contract which effects the price, just saying.

5.) 27 Jun 2016 12:13:37
Let's slag our own players again. Yay! Sturridge, Henderson, Coutinho anyone? Any wonder ed2 is all over you the way our players get treated!

6.) 27 Jun 2016 12:34:11
1 year on his contract left his wages will b 3 times as much and mane is younger. Players prices have inflated with the billions that's getting put into the premier league. Fans would moan if we missed out on him over a couple million never happy us lot. Let's try get behind the team this year.

7.) 27 Jun 2016 12:38:28
Also, i'm sure I read somewhere that Micky wasn't happy under Klopp at Dortmund so he would never have come to us if that's the case, even if we had champions league.

8.) 27 Jun 2016 12:55:18
Liverpool found out last season that Mane was a dangerous player to come up against. Southampton received the price they were looking for and now he will be wearing the liverbird, so let's forget the price tag and get behind the lad.
I have always said that I like the player. Pace, power, directness. I honestly believe he will improve our goals for column.
Let's not compare him to players other teams buy and enjoy the attacking play he will bring to the team.

9.) 27 Jun 2016 12:40:02
Fair enough, mane is a good player and will improve our first 11. Everyone knows we are overpaying and everyone knows we are shocking in terms of dealings, this is common knowledge by now. United have overplayed before themselves (Luke shaw for example) but we are terrible at negotiating good deals for both leaving and arriving players. In terms of mhkitarian and mane, the better player is mhkitarian. The player we need is mane. We need width and pace, and some quality out there for once.

One thing I wish was possible was doing this sort of deal for Alex teixeria. Now before everyone jumps on my back, it was just a personal preference at the time. From the people we where linked with, teixeria was the one that had the most quality. Maybe at the time we couldn't afford something like that because we weren't selling anyone for big money so it would have been difficult to fund. This is clouded by the statement from klopp who said he won't over pay (won't pay Disneyland money on players or something to that extent) . I just feel like out of the two you would probably rather over pay on texiera. The fee being suggested by sky sports is £34m for mane which most probably would have gotten us teixeria or (let's not look at the past) a better player now. £34m definitely is overpaying and klopp made a mistake saying something like that.

Before people say texiera isn't exactly tearing it up in China, well he tore it up in Ukraine, and most players that come from shaktar all do well at there new clubs so I think he would have been a risk worth taking. Plus he wanted to come to us, and would have worked well with coutinho and firmino. Maybe I'm bringing it up for no reason but my point is why would klopp overpay on a player that we shouldn't over pay for. I want mane, but for that price there are most certainly better players. If he's the best we can get then fair enough, I'm happy with that. Just one more point, African cup of nations. That is all.

10.) 27 Jun 2016 13:01:56
Im looking at it like this,
We were a better side up top when we had Raheems pace its just the lad wasnt the greatest finisher, we got 50 million for him and now we're getting a 34 million pound player that CAN finish and will bring more to the team in my opinion, yes I know we used that money on Benteke etc but he also is off out the door and we'll recoup a few quid there too, so you get my logic lol, twisted as it may be ;)

11.) 27 Jun 2016 13:29:44
I agree RT, the pace of Mane and Origi will scare the s*** out of teams, especially away from Anfield, that combined with Coutinho and Firmino movement.
At least Klopp has got one of his targets and we aren't left with a Balotelli signing.

12.) 27 Jun 2016 13:31:50
Just for the record guys I wasn't comparing the 2 as players I was comparing the difference in prices being paid I. e micky is a better player then mane from what I've seen no question all be it one plays on the wing the other in the centre, I wasn't aware micky was in his last year of contract thanks for clearing that up.

DevC 90.

13.) 27 Jun 2016 13:42:32

I was just responding to the OP where there was a mention of the two.

For me Micky is better than Mane but I am not dreaming or suggesting the we should have tried getting Micky.

Also if reports are true where Micky has mentioned that he felt better under Touchel than Klopp, just thinking how will he feel under Jose. As I see Jose and Klopp are more similar in style than Touchel.

Good luck to both. I was thinking Micky might fancy Arsenal than MU because of CL but doesn't look like now.

14.) 28 Jun 2016 11:34:32
He did OK in the Bundesliga but his goal return went down from 1 in 2 to 1 in 4 and given that he had one year left on his contract (compared to Mane's 2), it is understandable that he would go for £26, or so. Consider that Man United offered £30m for Mane in January and that Bayern and Chelsea were interested it would seem that Mane is no mug and certainly not a bad player. Like I say, I would love us to sign Reus, but that simply isn't happening, however after looking at the facts and seeing what Mane does bring with him, I think its a good deal.

09 Jun 2016 15:41:43
Hey eds,
Just a suggestion for you guys, I remember last year or the year before we had a macca page, I was thinking what about and eds rumours page, that way you guys you won't be hassled every day about every player we are linkied with, anything you guys post in their will be who we are genuinely looking at or interested in signing you could update us with any new info you have. Leave the normal page for any rumours people's vets or hairdressers are in the know about and you shouldn't be asked every day about all the lbs we are linked.

Just a suggestion keep up the good work guys and just to second what everyone else is saying we are lucky to have you.

{Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen because it won't make any difference. Posts which are duplicates will just be deleted - people hae the search engine - they should use that.}

02 Jun 2016 10:37:27
I'll probably be slated for this, but i don't think we should be looking at a player like bastien he impressed last season at a team in serie b, I'm a realist And I reaslise the likes of gundogan would prefer to play at city then for us, but I really believe we can do better then bastien, especially when we have the likes of brannagan who imo is just as good if not better then bastien.

There's plenty of other players out there who would love to play for us who is better then this lad, and where is he going to fit in? The midfield is already packed out as it is and with the likes of grujic to come in, stewart and chrivella and branngan to get more game time next season, why are we looking at a youngster who isn't going to start or improve are midfield? If we're looking at youth then why not go for praet or tielimans?

Let the slating begin but that's my opinion?

We need established players I don't want goetze and like i said the likes of gundogan who have a preference to play somewhere is out of our reach, but we should be pursuing dahoud the lad is a talent.

People will say look at a Leicester there players were bought cheaply and they won the league, yes at 5000-1, If we want top 4 we need to be aiming better then bastien.

Karius and matip are at a good level and can be world class, but I'm sorry bastien isn't and won't be at that level, I see another Luis Alberto or a suso here.

1.) 02 Jun 2016 11:07:15
We are clearly looking to add at least one Midfiled player. It's not easy to go and buy any player. The player should be available for a transfer.
Borussia Monchengladbach has no interest in selling Dahoud. They have already rejected an approach from Juventus. Its shame really but that's where it is now.
As far as Bastien is concerned, it's clearly a signing for the future and wouldn't be a first team player next season.

2.) 02 Jun 2016 11:45:32
This is not slating, but you're looking at things from a very narrow and short term point of view. Every manager buys for both immediate and future needs. And if Bastien is bought then it's clearly for future potential and future needs. Exactly how things happened with Origi. Nobody knows which of the current midfielders is going to be around in this August or next August. It has clearly been said that nobody is guaranteed a place and all are for sale at the right price. So it makes sense to sow some seeds now and see what grows after a year or two or three, even. The window hasn't even officially opened yet. So the real action is going to start in about a month. Relax and enjoy the view.

3.) 02 Jun 2016 13:56:31
I think people are content at looking towards a future that may be non existent. Bastien is clearly one for the future, not sure if he will be integrated into the first team or u21, this is the is confusion I have with quite a few of the players we are being linked with. The reason there is such confusion is because with certain departures and the quality of our midfield (as everyone saw during the season) we will need at least one established player with some quality. Dahoud would have been a great player at such a young age but that will not happen. So instead we are just looking at younger prospects with 'bright' futures. I would love us to do this, when we actually have a good midfield. Then it would make sense to bring in youngsters that could learn off the first team and eventually break through, but so far this doesn't seem to be the case. As you can see by your replies and the disagrees your post gets, people are content in trusting the recruitment and management even if it fails, because 'we have klopp' so he will somehow sprinkle some magic and all will be good. People seem content with our so called progress which was again non existent last season. Because at the end of the day losing two cup finals, and finishing 8th in the league (our joint worse in the pl era) is failure no matter the improvement in play, because we still had the same problems that we did under Rogers especially in defence. Now I'm not blaming klopp, and I trust his management of the players, but klopp needs to build a team that needs to qualify for top 4 next season, there's no question about that, but this is not happening. He has a 3 year contract and we are trying to buy players that may flourish in 2-3 years time. Again before the brainless comment, I'm not looking for marquee or exotic names, I'm just looking for quality, and some with more experience at this level. Honestly we need a team for now, I don't know how else to stress it, because people are thinking Utd, city, Chelsea are all going to struggle with their new managers but they forget they already had better squads than ours and actually have more established managers coming in so I just don't understand this mentality. It's clear top 4 will be a struggle next season and the only way to improve this team is to get players that are good NOW.

4.) 02 Jun 2016 14:23:52
I think people will take issue with the fact you think utd, city and Chelsea have better squads than ours, all of those "established" managers you mentioned all have major rebuilding jobs to do imo, the traditional top 4 as we know it is gone so we have as good a chance as any team to achieve that, lastly the transfer window has not started yet, let's judge our purchases after the window has closed, as for young players who was it that said "you won't win anything with kids" if your good enough, your old enough imo.

5.) 02 Jun 2016 17:14:35
Kingkenny7, firstly how can you dispute the fact that city, Chelsea and United all have better squads than ours, because they quite clearly do. Chelsea are last seasons champions, city arguably have the best squad of players in the league and consistently win trophies and Utd have bags of potential have finished higher than us even with an average team and won a trophy, something our team couldn't do, so enlighten me on how our squad is even remotely better than theirs.

Secondly these established managers all have rebuilding jobs to do, as does ours but with more facilities, higher budgets and better squads, and that's not even mentioning their own résumé's that suggest that their more than capable of doing it, so they are already at an advantage.

Lastly, this isn't the 90's anymore, and Ferguson isn't around to do what he did all those years ago, tell me something that has happened like that since? Yeah I thought so. Because as we have seen, we have constantly overpaid on young prospects or average players at lower level clubs and it has made us more of a mid table team. So yeah, what where you saying?

6.) 02 Jun 2016 17:35:48
Kman92 you have given your opionion and I have given mine, that's what this site is all about, neither of us have a crystal ball so we don't know what will happen next season, I just don't think our squad is as bad as people think, we both want the same thing, Liverpool fc to be sucsessfull and as long as that happens I don't care what route they take to achieve it.

7.) 02 Jun 2016 17:49:01
Fair enough I agree with this, I just think we always make it hard for ourselves for some reason.

Have to agree ed kolo was easily man of the match, I don't think sakho playing would have made a difference, quick question mate, would you UEFA have a case to answer for sakho personally for deformation of character?

You know when people say we are living in the past john, its because of people like you. We haven't won a league in 26 years and its the same stuff every season, can't win a game against the little teams, why he is leaving emre on the bench and playing hendo is anyones guess and why wijnaldum is playing in the centre when he is an attacking mid is beyond belief, the fact that milner has to play left back shows he never addressed the issue and has no faith in moreno, the fact is new managers different players same result.
