As much as I'm shocked over the seemingly temporary departure of Buvac, it shouldn't derail what's left of our season too much. We should have scouted enough and have plans in place for the remaining fixtures. Only injuries to key players can alter these.

My only concern is during games. I've noticed a good few times Buvac pointing things out to Klopp and then changes were made in tactics/ subs. Have we just lost a vital cog in how we respond to opposition tactics?

1.) 30 Apr 2018 12:49:11
cracking point made mate
he does point out a lot to klopp from which then changes are made
we would have to hope whoever replaces him till end of season has the same fore site and tactical nous.

2.) 30 Apr 2018 12:50:32
Everyone needs to chill. It's not Salah that's walked! We can't let a handbags moment shift our focus. Be professional LFC. Biggest game for the club for a few years on Wednesday. Stay focussed.

3.) 30 Apr 2018 14:53:15
I am not too bothered about Buvac helping Klopp out with the subs being made,
by that, I mean we don't really have much of a subs bench anyway, and when Klopp does make a change, he seems to get it wrong,
it just isn't his strong point,
however Klopp has just got us into a Champions League semi final, 2nd leg, with a 3 goal advantage,
I want him here for the next few years .

4.) 30 Apr 2018 18:01:48
All white noise for me. Stay focused on the task at hand and that is all that matters now. If we allow this to derail our season then that is our fault n no one else's.

22 Nov 2017 11:23:07
It's been said by many that supporters can have an effect on players be it good or bad. It's obvious that a great many LFC supporters have fragile mentalities with their knee jerk reactions to poor results. The players themselves are accused of having questionable mentalities when things go wrong. So my question is this.

Is it the fans affecting the players or vice versa?

If the blame lies with the fan base then we all need to grow a massive pair and revert back to what we were once hailed for ie. "the best, knowledgeable support in the land". If its the players at fault then only recruitment can rectify the problem.

Personally, and I'm sorry if I appear to sit on the fence, I think it's both. Years of desperation to see LFC become great again have produced support that bask and crow in the light of success but then fall apart when things turn bad, spewing out abuse on social media and more importantly at the game. A nod to Ed002 for calling it.

The players themselves have shown mental weakness when under pressure. We know who they are so I won't call them out. Hopefully subsequent transfer windows will transform things.

Sorry for the long post. It's something that has plagued me for a while now and I'd love to hear the Ed's and fans views on the matter.

1.) 22 Nov 2017 11:55:32
I wrote a post that the Eds (probably wisely) decided not to put up. Long story short - its the fans to the point where it's very difficult to blame players like can and coutinho for wanting out and frankly shocking that many others aren't trying to follow them. We have a problem with character and leadership but it's been massively exacerbated by fans so willing to destroy anyone who has any position of authority and so willing to bury anyone who struggles in any given game.

2.) 22 Nov 2017 12:55:43
Liverpool were doing well in their previous games before they threw away a 3 goal lead last night. I fail to see how the fans could have had any effect on that.

3.) 22 Nov 2017 13:01:33
It's the pendulum that's the problem, we over praise players that we like, we over criticize those we don't. Look at poor Moreno, he's gone from our most hated player to some calling him the best left back in the league. It then took just one game for fans to turn on him again.

Moreno is the exact same player he's always been, he wasn't as bad as people used to make out and he's not as good as some are calling him now.

4.) 22 Nov 2017 13:45:35
Oh yes its the fans fault we haven't won the league for 26 years. The fault is the players are not good enough. I could understand the point if this collapse was the first time or it happened only once a season but it happens far too often. With the weak players we have it will continue to happen time and time again.

Fans invest money, time, energy etc into supporting the club but when its so obvious what is wrong we have to call for change. Its been said Courtino wants out because he wants to win things. If he sits in the dressing room and looks at the other players its no wonder he wants out.

5.) 22 Nov 2017 15:32:22
We could always do a better job getting behind the team but generally it's the many years of disallusion which has made so many voices bitter. We have been mismanaged and embarrassed by our dealings time and time again and it's reached a point of almost grim acceptance of our yearly predicaments. Watching other teams rise around us has been disheartening and every time we look like we are making steps forward, fresh problems shine through. Invariably there are scapegoats which is a shame but why is it always the players whose name we chant loudest that hand in the transfer request first? And why is it we still cheer them on when they get on the ball?

6.) 22 Nov 2017 16:14:43
Players I feel have to take most the blame, this team seems to play fine at home but as soon as we play away from home and concede a goal and the opposition crowd start making noise the team seems to folds under pressure, the team doesn't know who to take the sting out a game.

7.) 22 Nov 2017 17:51:44
how about putting a share of the blame on those who have been making our transfers, some of the players brought in, have not been the right ones for the system we play, or in fact are not tough enough .

{Ed002's Note - So Klopp then.}

Our main problem in defence, which I'm sure has been mentioned before, was our fullbacks bombing forward leaving the centre halves isolated. Plus when the FB's went forward they offered nothing.

With the acquisition of Robertson and the emergence/ resurgence of TAA, Gomes and Moreno our FB's now offer width and decent delivery. We now look more solid at the back baring individual errors.

This window has been a success in my opinion with some brilliant purchases. Really looking forward to the season ahead.

1.) 01 Sep 2017 21:34:52
Not far off mate and I'm a glass half empty kinda guy usually lol.
We can't always get what we want, but I have absolutely no doubt we'll address the CB situation next summer as Klavan may well move on (might even sign 2 CBs then) .

We got in 3 British players too in this window which will help.
Not sure if Robertson is considered HG (don't think he is unfortunately) .
Cahmberlain, Solanke and Robertson are yet to realise their respective potentials as well.

But the icing on the cake for me is that Salah and Chamberlain who both rejected us a few years ago are now seeing us as the place to be.
Van Dijk too seemed keen, Keita is coming next summer and seemed to have other offers on the table, even Lemar (if you believe certain journalists) seemed to be dying to come - very positive.
Klopp is one of the factors for it I have no doubt, the fans in the stadium are another (not the whiny ones lol) .

2.) 01 Sep 2017 21:44:05
I've been saying that since the start of last season Gordy. The fullbacks push right up play the ball inside because they can't go past anyone and lose the ball then we get broken on and they are straight at the centre backs. Don't get me wrong Lovren keeps shooting himself in the foot too but with a bit more cover from the full backs hopefully his confidence will increase and he'll make better decisions. He was good at Southampton we just need him to get back to that.

3.) 01 Sep 2017 22:26:17
The fullbacks getting forward has nothing to do with the other team whipping corners in and looking like scoring almost every time.

4.) 01 Sep 2017 22:32:04
We don't look more solid! have you watched any games this season? we look worse if anything, Moreno is a liability.

5.) 01 Sep 2017 23:08:26
We look worse? Really?

6.) 02 Sep 2017 00:12:12
Biggest problem is and remains that too many players completely switch off at key times. One improvement is that one of the most regular offenders is out injured at present.

I've heard Insigne mentioned a few times as a possible Couts replacement (if he goes! ) . Would that be Lorenzo Insigne of Napoli?
Just had a quick read up about him and he seems to possess identical qualities. Great passer and technical ability plus he can take a brilliant free kick which we'll lose if Couts departs. Seems like a great shout for a replacement.

1.) 08 Aug 2017 00:21:52
Rather mertens.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 00:40:29
He'd be as good a replacement as you're going to find Gordy, he's very short though so I'm not sure if the 3rd CM/ CAM role would suit him so well as he's a natural LW. This may sound strange but potentially moving Mane up front and Firmino to Coutinho's role could work a treat. I don't see it though as any sensible idea seems to go out the window.

Personally and I know I'll get shot down for this but Mahrez seems like the best natural replacement in my eyes, he could easily slot into Couts role and we've all seen how devastating he can be. I don't believe one poor season represents him as a player and in a better side he could easily produce the quality we all know he has. I also feel in a central role he will be able to have a bigger impact on the game rather than hiding away as he can often do on the wing.

It wasn't that long ago that we were crying out for LFC to conduct their business in private. Tapping up scandals aside LFC are managing to do this. So please, stop with the hysterics, enjoy the window for what it is and just get on with something else in your life.

1.) 06 Jul 2017 09:49:17
Not everyone will. but i completely agree gordy! And if anyone wants to know what the other things are. its girls beer and sunshine! On that note as its my day off .

2.) 06 Jul 2017 12:33:02
Sorry Gordy, BUT you cannot separate the two. If we are doing our best to keep our cards close to the vest, why have we been caught tapping up all three players we've gone for this season? The fact of the matter is that we are NOT keeping things tight and keeping a tight ship. All of Salah, Keita and VVD were all tapped up in some way and that should bother you as it does many of us here as the ramifications may be damaging if we get a transfer ban the next time we do this. To me and like you, we should move on BUT let us just act as if the tapping up issues are not as serious nor as scandalous cos they are and Klopp had better tighten up and stop this nonsense.

3.) 06 Jul 2017 13:26:51
Brussels if you read my post I said tapping up scandals aside. I completely agree LFC should do transfers properly gaining the correct permission.

The first bit of my post wasn't put up. It was aimed at posters who are on the verge of hysterics because another club has signed all these players and LFC haven't. What do they want? Klopp to come around to their house, give them a big hug and say it's alright here's what we're going to do.
People need to get a grip and get on with their lives.

4.) 06 Jul 2017 13:49:35
Well said gordy. You like your capitals don't you br lol :)

5.) 06 Jul 2017 14:27:30
Nice one, Teabag. i need to cut that down to a minimum. Gordy, thanks for the clarification. I totally agree with your post about fans just complaining cos other teams are signing players and we have not. I did not know that LFC signs players on function of what other teams do. As Ed02 always says, "other clubs don't care what LFC does" and neither should we care about what other teams do BUT try telling that to some people on here. As for me, I am calm as I know whoever we get (even the players I'm skeptical about), they will have my full backing. It's the summer, Gordy and Teabag. Enjoy it, lads!

He scored a peach of a goal in the 1999 champions league final Madrid v Valencia. I'm sure he's remembered fondly.

There's a video ( I've seen of a karate competition. One fighter strikes the other in the chest and within seconds he collapses to the floor in cardiac arrest. It's all to do with the electrics of the heart. Every beat the heart has to repolorise. If the chest is struck at that very instant and we're talking milliseconds here, it will stop the heart repolorising which will cause it to stop ie. cardiac arrest. The chances of it happening are miniscule.

Can't wait to see Adam Lewis break into the first team squad. Seen him at an U18 game and he has an absolute wand of a left foot. His crosses were superb and 9/ 10 picked out a man in the box.

Fully agreed Davey. Our lack of protection from midfield is awful, highlighted yesterday by Drinkwaters runs into the box that weren't tracked. A top quality DM would improve the team so much.
