Had a weird dream last night about the match. Liverpool won 2-1 but there were 3 sent off, 2 for City and 1 for the Reds. So put your money on 2-1!

Evening all.

I know some people on here will disagree but I've been really impressed with Joe Allen. It's his positivity that's really impressed me.

Watching the first few matches I've been frustrated at times with the midfield just passing a ball from defence straight back to them. This often gave the opposition the chance to pressurise our back 4 and keeper and ultimately we lost possession.

Allen nearly always turned after receiving the pass and played the ball to our forwards, in turn getting us behind the opposition midfield.

It's a shame that once Lallana is fully match fit, allen will be the one most likely replaced. His partnership with Henderson in our high tempo pressing is fantastic. I really rate the player.

1.) It's nice to have a squad where there is quality for each position.

2.) Gordy, I couldn't agree more. His ability to recieve the ball in tight spaces then offload it to the likes of Sterling and Sturridge is massively under appreciated by many fans.

He must be a nightmare to play against as he's always looking to face up his opponent and put them on the backfoot.

He's a great squad/first team player for us, perfect for the passing game that Rodgers advocates.

I agree with all the comments especially him being a nightmare. He's got some fight in him for a wee lad. Not afraid to get the bll of anyone, often resulting in him giving away a foul. I don't mind that though if he gives it a go

4.) 03 Sep 2014 08:59:19
Allen's a very good squad player, particularly for away match formations. He always puts in a shift and presents a good image of the club. His runs from midfield have won us penalties at OT and the Lane. Good lad, we need players with his energy and attitude, glad we have him.

5.) I completely agree with you when you say Allen is quality and he always like to go forward but he shoots very rarely on goal and when he does they are most of the time off target. Also how can you say that Allen is better than Lallana when we have not yet seen him with a ball in an LFC shirt.

Afternoon one and all.

With the imminent arrival of Mario Balotelli, I can't help but think is he our new Stan Collymore?

Both players have had a troubled private life which has overshadowed their obvious talent to play football.

We all know where Stan ended up. Here's hoping Mario comes to his senses, concentrates on his football and realises his immense potential.

As for tonight's game I'm predicting a high scoring draw 3-3.

1.) I'm excited about Mario, He should be given the benefit of doubt until he does anything wrong while playing for Liverpool and if he does should still be supported.

{Ed002's Note - Like biting Suarez during a Champions League game?}

2.) Ed you really are soooooo funny.

3.) 25 Aug 2014 16:11:25
yes Ed002 you just described the perfect scenario.

Balo does not resolve to violence on the pitch because he knows he will destroy anyone who dares challenge him, he's cocky like that. You know what I mean, he's that guy that would rather laugh in someone's face.

I'm talking about off field misdemeanours, that shouldn't not be over hyped.

4.) Ballo not violent on the pitch? Lol

Just had a glance at the BBC football website and had a double take on the headline. Lambert for £4M plus add ons.

Great bit of business.

Proven goalscorer and would be whole heartedly committed to everything that is LFC.

I still believe Roy Keane was spot on when he said if you match your opponent's physicality and aggression, your superior class will win you the game. Liverpool have been sorely lacking at times.

It's all to do with the mentality of the team. As seen many times over previous seasons we crumble when under mental pressure. The best signing we could get right now would be to get Steve Peters back. And sharpish.

No improvement in Mignolet in three years and now Karius looking shaky only points to the coaching they're getting. Football is a ruthless game now and sentiment is in short supply. Someone at the club must have observed the perceived poor coaching of the keepers and the need to move Achteberg on. There must be a top class GK coach out there surely.?

It's my understanding of FFP that it's not how rich your owners are, it's measured against your commercial incoming. Is this right ed?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Don't think ambition is the problem. Liverpool lost its way regarding transfers a long time ago and we're currently trying to rectify that. Problem is we're choosing the wrong fights to get tough and losing priority targets as a result. Besides a GK, the LB was top of the list to sort out and through our off-kilter transfer policy we still have that problem going into the season.
