Grav again, his passing skill truly shows me that he is not good the forward midfield position. Midfield is very poor until Wirtz and Maca were in, still not enough. And Mamard did save Grav from a nightmare. Smh.

Bournemouth at Home next round?

Chelsea went strong in their lineup so it was good to see how a few of our reserves matched up. Trey played well overall, Jo Gomez did well. Grav, Mcconell, Koumas and Tzimi didn't have much of a positive impact but worked hard. Good result again, and vitally we rested a few ahead of the weekend.
29 Oct 2026 08:30:01
Allowing him to keep playing in the forward position is maddening, he clearly cannot do it, and how long can he be allowed to just be invisible.
29 Oct 2026 10:28:26
No idea why Koumas was out wide.
Gakpo is utter dog through the middle with his back to goal and doesn't even run in behind that well
Good job he got 2 pens to stick away or his performance would be in the same bracket as Tsimikas last night.
29 Oct 2026 12:22:59
Gakpo took his 2 penalties superbly but he just didn't look fit to me. A few times there were balls played in to him that he never got close to - not because they were bad balls but just because he seemed to lack his usual acceleration and pace.
He also looked totally spent by the end of the game so I don't think that it was a lack of effort.
29 Oct 2026 13:39:01
What people are failing to acknowledge is the intelligent positions Gakpo takes up. How many times in the last couple of games have we broke on the opposition with Gakpo the one in space charging at the back 4?
He's done everything right until the last pass or shot which I agree is extremely frustrating but it's his positional intelligence that gets him into those positions to begin with.
We all know his end product can be very good so if he gets through this iffy patch he will start to assist and score a lot more like he did at the start of the season.
29 Oct 2026 19:27:03
Time for a change?
Gakpo (27) and Gravenberch (24) both on circa £250, 000 per week to be replaced by Camara (23 new years day 2027) and Minteh(22) and money left over in the kitty from the 2 Dutch transfers perhaps, seems the hunger is gone and back to last seasons form? They both have no incentives, as they get the same monies regardless of form, interest or results.
Gakpo has plenty of suitors, not too sure about Gravenberch, perhaps the Bundesliga, Minteh will have been watched closely by Andoni when he's been in the manager's technical area during PL games Bournemouth v Brighton, we have presently all right footed wingers and centre forwards also in Isak and Hugo, got to be a left footer for RW for balance, obviously Rayan at £130 million was a most ridiculous release clause figure for the player, £65 million (half the figure for Rayan) for Minteh seems a very fair figure, if Andoni wants Minteh how can you disagree with that choice? he knows what he wants better than anyone. Minteh is fit again and came on as a sub after 75 mins last night versus ban city, never took a penalty, you can now play for two different clubs in the Carabao Cup, and FA Cup during a season.

Minteh, doesn't give us anything that Koumas, Munoz and Rio do. If we're bringing in another winger it absolutely has to be somebody who's established and can actually produce. We need goal contributions, not endlessly unproductive running.
Minteh ranked 17th amongst all wingers for goal contributions in the PL last season. The absolute last thing we need right now is a 4th young winger with little end product. That's how I disagree with it.
30 Oct 2026 08:19:56
Can't believe I'm agreeing with with chewy.
30 Oct 2026 09:59:17
Midfield needs some repairing for the offseason.
I like Nyoni and I think he will be Macca's replacement when we sell Macca in the summer.
Szobo needs to improve his positioning and improve his timining regarding crashing the box but I wouldn't sell him just yet.
Grav needs to be sold, and while I have thought since last year that is simply not good, I will support him to get going in games.
Now, selling Macca and Grav means we will need two midfielders, one which is a Defensive minded MF who can cover grass (Camara, Sadiki? ) and a second one who can playmake from deep which I feel we are lacking even of Nyoni can be that one (someone like the one from Stutggart, but I cannot think of anyone else).
30 Oct 2026 15:05:50
@suarez, and scouse John
Why did Liverpool Football Club try to sign Minteh then in the last summer transfer window, if Minteh is as bad as you both say?
Have you both not heard of player potential? Andoni bought Semenyo for £10 million, went to ban city for £73 million, bought Rayan(19) for £30 million now has a £130 million release clause, El Kroupi signed from Lorent for £10 million, Zabarnyi( now PSG) cost Bournemouth £27million, Huijsen( now RM) signed for Bournemouth from Juventus for £12.5 Million. Midfielder Scott from Bristol for £25 million, Andoni has also played 650 career games as a full back I think he knows more than anybody what makes a good winger or a bad winger? (in both your opinions) and good player potential in any football position.

Hi Liverpool supporters, sorry to bother you here.
Actually I found this forum when searching rumours on my fav player Gavi as there's a saying Liverpool wants a summer transfer, but for now I haven't found much information except several twitter articles.
May I ask is it convincible? As he didn't have chances or minutes there, maybe a loan or transfer would be fine.
Sorry again for interrupting you, and English isn't my first language so please forgive my rudeness if any.
Hope you all a good weekend.

007. As I've said before in a previous post if Minteh hits 15+ goal contributions this season, I'd be happy to reconsider, but at the moment we already have 3 young wingers with great 'player potential' currently developing their skill sets, we really don't need a 4th, we need somebody who can come in and put up numbers, if Minteh shows he can do that this season then great, but he'll get more game time where he is currently and have a better chance to prove it without us having to take on the risk. Personally I think Minteh was only a 3rd choice option (at best), and was only ever going to be brought in if Gakpo left.
Whilst I appreciate your 'company man' viewpoint and choice to back any and all decisions, the club has brought in plenty of useless players over the years. Just because the club/manager thinks a player could potentially be a good signing, doesn't mean they actually will, so you'll forgive me if I don't blindly follow suit, I do appreciate having the ability to make my own judgements.
That's great you have a list of Iraola signings memorised like that, very impressive, but Iraola himself admitted he hardly had aything to do with transfers at Bournemouth, even stating, ".they know the market much better than me. They know the players much better than me. I don't think managers should be the ones signing the players".
30 Oct 2026 18:28:50
JossLeeds. Welcome, no apologies necessary. We heard rumours about Gavi to Liverpool here during the summer 2026, but there was never any development. The main page is where you'll find all the rumours; you can also search a player's name in the search box at the top of the page, and it will show you every post where people have mentioned that player.
30 Oct 2026 19:42:03
@suarez,
so you only want LFC to sign top dollar top wages, proven players?
that means you would not have even signed Ngumoha £250, 000
Nyoni, or Ndukwe (£2.6 million).
LMAO.
{Ed001's Note - Rio has cost about 3.8m I believe in the end. Or was it 2.8? I am pretty sure it was 3 but I am tired and sleepy so could be wrong.}
30 Oct 2026 21:24:59
007, nope, I never said that, but thanks for poorly attempting to put words in my mouth to try and create an argument that never existed because your main point was shot down, but fair play to you for dropping your basket so quickly even though you had all your eggs in there.
I've commented before about how we need to improve our recruitment and academy setup so that we don't have to blow a fortune on every signing, and I do actually think the club is starting to make a conscious effort to do that now. I love seeing young lads come through the ranks and I think the lack of local lads in the side is a big reason why it's so easy to criticise this era of players for a lack of passion, commitment or sense of duty, but at the same time you can't be ignorant enough to think that we can build a Premier League-winning team on nothing but bargain basement players, it would be amazing, but incredibly, incredibly difficult in this day and age.
Rio, Munoz, Koumas, Nyoni, Bradley, etc. all look like they could be great servants for the club and I look forward to seeing their careers develop, but at the same time, you need your Isaks, your Barcolas, your Araujo's, you can't blame the players for the state of the market. VVD and Ali were huge purchases at the time, do you spite them for ther price? I don't think so.
Anyway, you've taken us miles off course; we already have 3 promising but very much developing young wingers, we really don't need a 4th. We lost Diaz and Salah, 2 senior wingers capable of producing week in week out, and we've only truly replaced one of them. It's not difficult to reason that the ideal next step, were we to bring in another winger, would be to get somebody who fills that vacant senior role, somebody who's got a track record, not because I don't understand player potential, not because I think I know better than Iraola, not because I only want £100m payers, but for the simple reason thta that's what we're missing (across the front line),
If you think Minteh's good enough to take the reins from Salah, fair play to you, you have great faith in the lad, I applaud it.
31 Oct 2026 10:00:24
Cody was playing better until he got injured, and has reverted a bit to last seasons form since his return to the side. He was very wasteful against Brighton, but at least he kept on getting into position.
In a bigger picture sense the left side hasn't really gelled yet whoever has played there this season, whereas we've looked much better down the right flank. That's as much to do with Kerkez as it is whoever has played in front of him, and Tzimi just isn't up to scratch at all.
01 Nov 2026 10:56:48
Chewy I like you, but sometimes you are a little too combative for no reason. That said, your main argument about Minteh stacks up to me.
007 is saying Minteh was a clear target, therefore AI, along with his record of player development, must believe MInteh was what we needed.
Chewy is saying we don't need a player who might develop over time, we need goals today. Or better assists. And Minteh, for all of AI's prowess at developing players, is not what we need now.

Like I've said all along I really don't understand this idea that Arsenal have a great squad.
They've got 3 pretty ordinary players for each position and a load of bang average players upfront.
They've never been title favourites in my eyes. They only won it last year because us and City had poor seasons and even then City caught them up with a few games to go. They then proceeded to gift it back to them.
They got to a CL final by beating Leverkusen, Sporting and Atletico Madrid with all second legs at home. That's as easy as it gets and they only just scraped that.
Fleetwood did great tonight but they are 18th in league 2, the supposed best squad in the league should beat them comfortably even with a complete second string side out but once again Arsenal show that they just can't score goals.
We were upset by losing to Plymouth but at least they were a Championship side.
27 Oct 2026 23:23:20
You've managed to belittle a brilliant achievement in two words bond.
28 Oct 2026 00:22:13
I thought the same. Why do posters on here keep using childish names like Ping Pong for Frimpong etc? Do they think they're being funny? It's demeaning to the players and in this case, The Fishermen.
28 Oct 2026 02:17:23
Arsenal put out sh*t team so they could rest most of them for the weekend, obviously, so I;d take nothing from it. Fairplay to Fleetwood, great achievement for them, but Arsenal had 80% possession and 26 shots to Fleetwood's 3, with 9 changes from the team that beat Everton last week.
We got knocked out by Plymouth.
{Ed666's Note - I think your diminishing Fleetwoods achievement somewhat. They are in the 4th tier of English football and just beat the champions of England. On paper they shouldn’t beat the Arsenal reserve team
28 Oct 2026 10:48:51
But that's the point Chewy. Arsenal are supposed to have this great squad but 9 changes and they can't beat a team at the very bottom of the football league.
And let's not kid ourselves that they sent out a load of kids. They had Salmon and O'Neill but other than that it was a team of first team players.
Hincapie, Mosquera, Timber, Zubimendi, Lewis-Skelly, Dowman, Havertz and Gyokeres all started.
White, Eze, Odegaard, Konsa and Bruno G all came on.
They had loads of possession but couldn't score and that's why they are not a great side. They will never score enough goals, even against a team 18th in League 2 they struggled and ultimately lost.
Without subsidising their goals with set pieces they are a top 6 team at best. This idea that they are somehow going to walk the league is ridiculous to me.
28 Oct 2026 17:30:38
Not diminishing anything, I gave Fleetwood credit and spoke plain facts. Pointing out the circumstances doesn't take anything away. Fantastic achievement for Fleetwood, nobody can take it away from them, it's a moment in history they'll always have to look back on, but there's no measure to be taken from this, upsets happen, Arsenal will still be competing for the PL title.
Rio, I don't think Arsenal have a particularly great squad, they have a very good one, and plenty of capable depth, but they lack goalscorers, and 9 changes to any starting 11 gives anybody a shot, as I said, we lost to Plymouth last year under similar circumstances, we didn't even make it to penalties.
I haven't seen anyone claiming Arsenal will walk the league, maybe a few delusional gooners I pay no heed to. I do agree with you on several points. I've always been of the opinion that they stole the title last season, with their loopholes and set-piece nonsense, it was an absolute joke, but they're not 2nd for no reason, they will remain in contention, though I expect them to struggle later in the season. Anyway, you call it a first team but unless there's injuries, I don't think we'll see the same 11 line up against us at the weekend.
28 Oct 2026 17:55:17
What does Fleetwood beating Arsenal have to do with Plymouth beating Liverpool?
Arsenal started the game with 8 internationals, and brought 5 more on.
No one gives a dam about your possession and shots stats, for a team 18th in League 2 playing the current English champions all that matters is the result.
30 Oct 2026 20:37:30
What does Fleetwood beating Arssenal have to do with Plymouth beating Liverpool? Nothing, nothing at all, there's no similarities whatsoever, and you're right, stats don't mean a thing, they're completely useless for analysing a game, no idea why anybody references them. Great points you made, there well done, eye opening stuff.
