Hold the phone.... What is going on at Tottenham?

And we thought we had it bad with Hughes....

Spurs have taken Mudryk from Chelsea on loan, with an option to buy him for 75M pounds.... What the hell are they smoking over at Spurs.

I thought it was a typo.
Who on earth is paying that??

02 Sep 2026 09:09:22
De Zerbi worked with him at Shakhtar and thinks he was a future Ballon d'Or winner, if that doesn't tell you all you need to know about De Zerbi nothing will. ? Future Ballon d'Or winner my backside!

My Spurs mates are buzzing whilst the rest of us are just confused.

Mudryk for £75m? Something dodgy going on there.

On the subject of dodgy, I’ve been told by a Spurs mate that Spurs overpaid for Savinho so that they could get Marmoush at a cheaper price.

City wanted it this way as Frankfurt have a sell on clause for Marmoush.

Can’t see Frankfurt being too happy with that!

02 Sep 2026 14:20:09
I think that last part is an open secret at this point, BP. It was brought up on here a few times and you're right, the deal is fishy. Savinho and Marmoush came as a pair, and the paper value on Savinho is higher, so that City don't need to pay Frankfurt what they owe them as a sell-on clause.

If I were working at Frankfurt, I'd be raising a huge fuss to get those deals investigated.

Should go all out to sign Brighton's scouts and director of football?

01 Sep 2026 23:44:46
Yes please.

02 Sep 2026 01:10:43
Why? They buy players at cheaper prices as a stepping stone to a big club. Name me 5 of their players who have gone on to be world class? Only Caicedo imo.

{Ed666's Note - is Caceido world class?

I always wanted Alonso, but I think Xabi went to the right club. He's being properly backed and I'll be in Paddy Powers (or any other bookies, as we support all bookies) and put a few bob on them winning the league. I think he's done good business.

Cue MKS and co to tell us how bad everyone else's business and teams are. In my opinion, we are miles off with first 11 and even further off from the bench.

I'd love a young player to come through, Trey or Rio, but TAA is the last to hold a first team spot. All the young Worldies we've been told about season after season after season are gone, none have actually gone to a top team and excelled!!! I think some fans cod themselves on how good our youngsters really are.

Chelsea also have no European football. They’ll be successful this season because they failed so miserably last season.

01 Sep 2026 23:33:56
Arsenal v Chelsea PL 06 September 4:30 pm Sky Sports.

Well, they both can't win?

Chelsea had 39% possession versus Fulham and 25% possession at home to Brighton. He's playing low, low block football; that's why they have conceded five goals, one more than us.

Who would want to watch that 25% possession at home? Even Arne never had that low a figure in 2 years. He plays Russian roulette football; that's why RM sacked him? He may well win it, but it would be a bad day for football.

02 Sep 2026 04:58:33
Wdym "even Arne"? Slot's entire game was possession, he is the anti-Xabi, just kick it around the halfway line for 90 minutes and get done on the counter by the opposition striker's only touch of the game.

Chelsea agree fee for Camara! £47 million. Why did we not go for him?! Poor from Hughes. Very poor from Hughes.

Deal is off. Wow. Unlucky Chelsea ha!!!

01 Sep 2026 21:47:23
I cannot believe we didn't sign a midfielder. We let Jones go and we signed no one. We've become weaker in the middle of the pitch and expect 3 players to play a lot of games without injuries. You can forget about expecting kids to provide any real competition.
Extremely incompetent.

I reckon we sign Camara in January.

01 Sep 2026 21:42:15
Camara signed for Chelsea.

Richard Hughes and fsg hang your heads in shame you bring a new manager in a fail him shame on all you what moron allows Richard Hughes to be working for the Saudi club as well as ours he doesn't give a toss well good riddance

Playing devil's advocate, everyone assumes this is Hughes' strategy, but Liverpool have a history of leaving huge gaps in the squad going back to way before Hughes was sporting director. It seems to be a club strategy to go into every season with a bare minimum squad.

01 Sep 2026 22:01:18
Hughes is definitely incompetent, hence why Edwards did his job last summer and Gordon did his job this summer.

Let’s cool it on the FSG hate though. 18 months ago our transfer record was £75m on Van Dijk in 2018. We’ve broken that 4 times in the last 18 months; Ekitike £79m, Wirtz £116m, Barcola £123m and Isak £125m.

That’s on top of Leoni £35m, Jacquet £60m, Munoz £34m, Brughmans £30m, Frimpong £30m and Kerkez £40m.

By all means slate the DOF or the scouting team, but FSG have made us into a financial powerhouse; one that can afford to drop nearly £700m in two summers for a major rebuild. That’s anything but shameful on their part.

J97

Pretty much sums it up.

I would really love to know what Iraola truly thinks of the situation.

Most managers are never truly happy with their squads (can always be improved), but our current squad looks - is so thread-bare ....

but the spoofers will still expect us to be challenging on all fronts and if (when) it all "implodes" he'll have to carry the can - well I won't be blaming him irrespective.

Best of luck Andoni (and squad) - I think you are going to need shed loads of it!

01 Sep 2026 22:34:05
Fifth Element's not wrong though.

01 Sep 2026 20:22:53
We have signed Luca Brugmans, the goalkeeper.

Agree1

01 Sep 2026 19:42:40
I don't really know why we've spent so much on this Brughmans kid. He won't be ready for when Alisson potentially leaves next year as he is so inexperienced and hasn't played at the highest level yet. It will be years before he's ready.

Hughes has wasted 60m on goalkeepers we don't even need but let Kelleher leave for peanuts without even putting a buyback in. And Kelleher would have been a safe successor to Alisson.

01 Sep 2026 20:26:06
How do you know that? apparently he is a top top talent. Why can't he be thrown in, especially with the refs clamping down on all the setpiece shenanigans.

01 Sep 2026 20:42:21
Lots of players get described as top talents. How many of them turn out to be once you throw them in at the highest level?

It takes years of experience and building physique to get goalkeepers ready for the highest level. He's got to learn how to organise a defence and all sorts. How many world-class goalkeepers were ready as teenagers? A small handful throughout history.

01 Sep 2026 21:01:53
Because if he turns out to be as good as he is highly rated, then we have got a top keeper for the next 15 years.

01 Sep 2026 21:28:38
Kelleher wanted to play every week in the PL? If he wanted out, how could you have stopped him? He made 67 apps in 7 seasons. He has the LFC record for the most saves in penalty shoot-outs at 6. He also won all four of his League Cup penalty shoot-outs.

He faced 6 PL pens and saved four.

Jurgen left in May 2024. Kelleher joined Brentford in June 2025 on a five-year deal.

There is no buy-back clause even though he only went for 18 million. I wonder who sanctioned that deal? Oh no!

01 Sep 2026 21:29:46
Okay, but 30m is an awful lot of money for someone who has played just over 10 games in the Belgian league. It feels like transfer fees are becoming purely based on potential as opposed to what the player is actually doing and what they have achieved.

Even if he had played 100 or 200 more games, should a goalkeeper who has only played in Belgium go for 30m?

Personally, I would rather we put that money towards players who are going to improve the first-team in the not too distant future.

01 Sep 2026 21:36:17
Utd brought in Lammens, albeit a few years older than the guy we brought, but he's a great GK.

01 Sep 2026 21:58:32
The 30m is apparently almost entirely made up of add-ons. I'd say the fixed fee is much smaller.

01 Sep 2026 22:23:49
Is the price tag linked to the fact that he was meant to be the next big thing for Real Madrid, isn’t Courtois linked to Genk and what is his connection to Real Madrid, so we have had to pay that increased price now to beat Madrid to him? Just a thought.

01 Sep 2026 22:39:09
Kelleher is a good keeper, but if he hadn’t previously played for us and he was linked as the Alisson replacement, it would kick off on here. He’s good but he is not good enough. No need for a buy back clause. He was simply the best backup keeper around.
