Away from the City game, Ndukwe had quite a night for Levante. He started and made an error, which led to a goal for Sevilla. Much much later, he scored in 90+10 min to make it 3-3. Proper Rollercoaster of a game.

Did well apart from the error. We've a player on our hands there.

Infantino under scrutiny for an additional salary received in 2024.

Are they maybe using City's blueprint of paying multiple salaries to people ????.

Don't think Anderson covered himself in glory with his reaction to having his shin tickled, dragging his leg like he stepped on a land mine! Bloody embarrassing!

He also tried to rugby tackle somebody (I can't remember who but it may well have been Grav) and the ref waved play-on and never even for a second thought about giving him a yellow for something that was 50 times worse than either of the Gravenberch 'challenges'. Embarrassing refereeing.

13 Oct 2026 18:10:28
It wasn't Andersons shin it was his toe and then lay down holding his knee. Ref thought that was the injury, pathetic reffing.

It feels like the powers that be are trying to play a very expensive game of Fantasy Football, just acquiring the biggest names for crazy money. No real though has gone into the recruitment process.

We are screaming out for a proper defensive general. All the big teams have 1. We haven't had one since Fab in my opinion. The money we have spent on Barcola/Wirtz we could have bought 2 Centre backs and a defensive midfielder and the balance would be so much better. We don't have any depth in the 10 role either. Its so frustrating because i can't see how this gets any better any time soon.

Lamine Camara in January is a start but I really feel we need to start again. Cut our losses.

we don't need centre backs its full backs we need.

Hi guys long time reader first time posting, scouser living in the states. I just want to say wirtz should never play for us again, the way he shirked out of that anderson tackle is nothing short of a disgrace. I just wish there was someone in the dressing room to grab him round the scruff of the neck, a souness carragher even a milner or henderson.

The lads an absolute rubbish house and is now by far our worst ever signing miles clear of nunez or carroll, and if you still see a future for him at the club you're beyond deluded. Same with that barcola we've had our pants pulled down with both of them. Munoz and koumas showing ten times the desire as them pair of cowards but wirtz especially.

Oh sweet jesus here we go again, criticising the smallest player on the pitch for not being Graeme Souness.

13 Oct 2026 02:45:47
I mean, I've made my comment about that particular incident (on banter page) but calling that a disgrace is a bit OTT lol

We all know how football works, so the rubber will hit the road soon regarding Wirtz' Liverpool career.

But I do find it farcical how people can be so absolute about anything in football.

13 Oct 2026 06:11:37
He's right though with regards to how nice some of our players are. I'm slowly going off of football because of it. All this smiling and hugging players before the game (especially the Man City one) is not the correct mentality in my eyes. After the game maybe but before, we are not friends and I have no interest in high fiving you.

Also, how Hughes has gone I hope we can sort out the team because it is disjointed and has been dismantled by him.

13 Oct 2026 08:14:28
What's small got to do with it chewy? It's a mental thing and Wirtz is mentally a fairly. Your namesake wasn't a big bloke was he? He was an animal on the pitch though!

13 Oct 2026 14:07:59
Dennis wise and gattuso were the smallest players on the pitch, didn't stop them getting stuck in. He's a fairy if that's the politically correct term.

14 Oct 2026 14:11:06
Yeah I agree, small has nothing to do with it, but I didn't feel like writing all of the following:

Wirtz is lightweight, not just in stature but in style. He's an attacking midfielder, he's known for his finesse, for being an intelligent footballer who's light on his feet, when we were bringing him in nobody once mentioned Wirtz's ability to win bone crunching 50/50's, nobody cited his ferocious tackling, or ability to play as a bulldog of a DM, he's not the next Mascherano.

Go back and watch the replay in slow mo, Wirtz challenged for the ball, but he tried to nick it as opposed to commit to a crunching tackle that might have seen him injured, which is exactly the type of tackle you would expect from a player of his type, that's just his style, expecting anything else is moronic. When we buy a DM who can't win a 50/50 against the likes of Anderson, then you've got something to cry about.

Last season Wirtz won 95% of the tackles he made, this season he's won 85%, and he won about 60% of duels on the ground. Anderson's tackle win % was only 65% last season. This doesn't mean Wirtz is a better tackler, he's opportunistic, what it tells us is Wirtz doesn't over commit to tackles he knows he can't win, and the exact opposite for Anderson, who also led the league for duels won last season with 297.

So keep on crying about that 1 tackle Wirtz was never going to win against an aggressive, high-volume tackler who's literally the best in the league at winning 50/50's.

Ndukwe starting for the first time for Levante tonight.

Scored his first senior goal too to equalise in the 100th minute.

12 Oct 2026 15:42:16
Interesting article on Sly Sports News, essentially saying Anderson is better than Wirtz, the irony is the picture they used clearly shows Anderson Fouling Wirtz. One hand on shoulder and grabbing his hands.

I am an optimist, and while he needs to improve, Wirtz will be a top player for many years to come if he stays or goes. Value will go up when AI has the team ticking again.

Ref was shocking TBF.

I hope your right viaggression.

12 Oct 2026 18:16:08
"Wirtz will be a top player for many years to come if he stays or goes" I can't wrap my head around that statement, because currently he's not a top player, nowhere near it, did you mean to say something else?

12 Oct 2026 19:42:47
Meh, I got to be honest mate I love the optimism but I can't see it. He offers nothing almost every game I watch him in. I get the argument that he needs other players around him to do stuff but to build an entire team around one player is in my opinion not a good idea, and never is unless said player is a generational talent. Nothing Wirtz has shown since he came to us indicates he is at that level. At some point you just have to concede that this isn't going to work and to be honest I don't think we are far from that point.

Carra said he's a tidy player, sorry but I don't even see that currently. He doesn't seem capable of performing the simplest of passes and link up's, let alone the sort we brought him in for.
Personally if he doesn't improve drastically by X-Mas I'd drop him and play Ekitike in behind Isak when he's back from injury, or go back to a workhorse 3 in midfield like we had when we were really good.

12 Oct 2026 19:47:32
"Will be"
Not hard to understand the statement.

He is not doing great right now but will be.

I can try a different way if you want?

The guy is 23 years old. And only just i believe.

It is my opinion that he is a fantastic talent. Liverpool may not be able to unlock it before the fans and media have their way.

12 Oct 2026 19:57:49
Not sure i disagree with anything you said west.
He needs managing. If that means dropping him, bringing in bodgers hypno concinfidence people so be it.

We will have easier games than city, though no easy games any more to be fair.

12 Oct 2026 20:46:03
I am hopeful like you Via, I just can't see it happening.

13 Oct 2026 07:25:25
Anderson is a better player than Wirtz, currently.
We all want that to change.

12 Oct 2026 11:31:34
Can anyone think of a player who eventually came good after having had as long as Wirtz has had here looking a bit rubbish? Maybe Havertz?

Agree2

12 Oct 2026 12:51:29
It's very rare, especially in attacking positions where players often hit their prime earlier. Many really successful attackers score on their debut at a young age and then just keep on rolling, they may have the odd fallow period but generally they just produce until their pace and sharpness decline. Wirtz is slow in comparison to many of our best attacking players so could mature later, but it looks like he just doesn't fit our needs.

Sometimes central defenders and keepers are slightly slower burners, but again if they don't show their best form within twelve months they're usually done at a club our size.

With the rest of our current crop the likes of Kerkez just remind me quality wise of a player like Bjornebye, whereas we were hoping for another Robbo. That's ok if you have better quality around them to help them lift their game but at the moment we have a team full of good but not great players. The issue is the likes of Brentford and Brighton can also afford good players and a good coach so we don't have any competitive advantage over several much smaller clubs, and as a result we're scrapping for top six.

12 Oct 2026 07:10:28
So Shaw's push on Bentancur receives the same punishment as Gravs no-touch tackle on Anderson.

Sounds about right.
