Good evening,

As much as I’m praying slot goes at the end of the season and Carra and Robbo LFC keep saying he knows he’s going and wants to go back home himself.

Then why don’t he or the club come out and say he will be leaving at the end of the season by mutual consent? Just like Salah has and Robbo? Instead of all this, the club has his backing and slot saying he has their backing etc?

Squeaky bum time. 😁

It's standard procedure, clubs always back the manager, right up to the second they give them the sack.

In England, whenever a club has announced that a manager is leaving at the end of the season, has the season ever ended well?

Lots of chat on here about Alonso not having prem experience and they being a factor to choose Iarola instead.

Klopp never had prem experience and will forever be with us. Didn’t have a attachment to us before he came but we won’t break our bond to him now.

Would you guys say the same if it was a between Enrique and Iarola?

I want Alonso, yes he didn’t come to us but at that time I remember it being said that he said he would one day manage Liverpool.
He’s been one of us, he's coming home all.

He played 143 PL games for us. I would argue that is more PL experience than Iraola.

SK, I'm assuming they mean prem manager experience, mate.

For me the key is about knowing the league. Doesn't matter if it is whilst being a manager or a player. I actually think that being on the pitch and in the middle of it all gives you a better understanding than standing on the sidelines watching.

Bruninho Braga - Athletico Paranaense - 17yo.

Effectively the left footed Ngumoha. Remember the name, before he's signed by FC Porto / Brighton.

With Liverpool's recent keenness to sign young defenders, I'd love for us to finally join the 'Young Brazilian Prospect' party with this man.

Merci.

Off to Shakhtar apparently.

Fair play to him if he does.

It always baffles me when 'Big Clubs' like Liverpool allow incredible talents to join a 'smaller club', with full knowledge that if they develop how they hope they might, they'll cost a fortune.

Surely signing him, then loaning him out, would be the financially smart move, although having said that, I'm probably imparting far too much of my Football Manager strategy to the real world.

Merci.

Read that Juve may have to sell to comply with financial rules, so Khephren Thurman may be for sale. Would be a good addition/replacement for Mac players in a double pivot, defensive-minded one we looked at along with Manu Kone under Kloppo.

Going back to January 2023 targets wasn't on my bingo card.

Congratulations Rory, even though you are a Manc!

13 Apr 2026 00:38:04
Yeah congrats Rory will be a big party here in Augusta tonight. Was pulling for Rosey. He won't sleep well tonight after the 3 putt on 13 and the short miss on 17. I've been to US Opens but nothing like witnessing the Masters up close. Best tournament in golf hands down.

Still managed a respectable 75 off the stick.

It's the best golfing tournament in the world, alongside the Ryder Cup. I would like to have seen Rose win, too. Fair play to you Red Flyer.

Totally agree Rome. I've watched every Masters since 1989 (was a big Nick tFaldo fan, still am!). The drama of 1996 (different to the drama of 2022 as the one I was rooting for won!) was unmatched until the Miracle at Medinah!

13 Apr 2026 16:07:10
Ed, that's a nice round and even under what we could describe as mitigating circumstances! I really thought Rosey had it and I'm just gutted for him!

Rome, if I had to pick, It would be tough. The Ryder Cup has become immense. I fancy a trip for the day next year but I think I'd go on the practice day. From what I read this last time, it's very hard to see the golf up close.

I hate to say it but I just don't see slot going in the summer. It makes zero sense that Salah and Robbo are leaving if a new manager comes in. Also he's been under so much pressure that the club surely would just announce he's leaving at the end of the season for family reasons etc to save face. It would stop the negativity instantly, lift the fans and players and he'd get some level of thanks for what he did last year rather than the toxic situation that's occurred.

I hope I'm wrong. He should have gone months ago and I'd love Xabi to have a chance. Just doesn't add up to me and I think a lot of us will end up disappointed come the summer.

Slot does not hand out the contracts, kipwilbo, so it does make sense that they are leaving and Slot to at end of season, buddy. YNWA.

2

13 Apr 2026 10:29:53
Would have thought both players would have jumped at the chance to work with Xabi, who is mosts choice to be here next season. Especially Salah, who actually had a contract for next season. Seems strange.

14 Apr 2026 03:16:02
Slot's got nothing to do with contracts. Robbo wasn't even offered one, so he has absolutely no choice in the matter. Salah has been pushing for a move since last year. Why would he wait around for 6 months to see whether or not the manager is staying? Also, there's no chance Salah could have known whether or not Slot would be staying on back then. Not even the board knew at that stage. His legs are gone, and he knows it. For a player whose speed was so key to his game, bouncing back from this season's performance at his age is nigh on impossible, no matter what managers are in charge.

Generally speaking, clubs don't announce they're going to sack a manager in 6 months' time. The few times something similar has happened, it always has a terrible effect on performances, something the club cannot afford. Not to mention, Slot has massive credit in the bank, and the club would be more than happy to accommodate a mutual parting as a professional courtesy, and of course there's nobody the club deems suitable to come in as caretaker.

Lads, just watched the highlights of the comeback from Barcelona for some inspiration for Wednesday (Kiwi time) and thought who are the top 3 cult heroes of your time. Mind would be -
1. Divock Origi - Champions League goal scorer and helped us win at Everton for the league.

2. John Arne Riise - Bordering on cult hero as he was a player for years - proper passion for the shirt.
3. Igor Biscan - Wondered why we signed this guy and still do, but he never gave up the lad and everyone loves a trier!

2

12 Apr 2026 10:42:18
Diouf, oh wait, cult?

12 Apr 2026 11:17:45
Jari Litmanen, Dirk Kuyt, Lucas Leiva.

2

12 Apr 2026 11:52:03
Completely forgot about Kuyt, what a player he was!!!! Also, I forgot about Maxi Rodrigues, who was a close 4th for me!!!!

12 Apr 2026 16:19:52
1) Jari Litmanen
2) Gary McAllister
3) Nicolas Anelka

We didn't see the best of these, but they were really good for us.

1

12 Apr 2026 15:52:54
Can't have that wife beater Flanagan anywhere near this list mate. Doesn't deserve to be called a cult hero after what he did

2

12 Apr 2026 17:15:24
Apologies, I didn't know anything about that Dracred.

2

12 Apr 2026 17:20:37
Agger.

12 Apr 2026 17:54:54
Luis Garcia had some magical moments, particularly in the Champions League: the header from across the Mersey against Anderlecht, the half volley against Juventus, and of course the ghost goal against Chelsea. Not to mention the half-volley against Chelsea in the FA Cup run too.

3

12 Apr 2026 19:30:41
Riise, Toure, Kuyt, Gary Mc, and Anelka were all good players and would probably get into the team now. The rest had moments but would probably get slaughtered in today's social media age.

He was only with us 1 season, but I loved Titi Camara,
Stig Inge Bjournebye (even if it was just for the cross to Ruddock to equalise in the 3-3 again Man U).
Patrick Berger (What a player).
Jari Litmanen (can't believe we didn't keep him longer and play him more, always loved him).

Karl Heinz Reidle (There was always something about him, that I just loved).
Peter Crouch (For the perfect hattrick).

1

13 Apr 2026 07:30:37
Lord Klavan certainly worth a mention!

To me, whichever formation we go with next season, whether it is 4-2-2-2, 4-3-3, 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-1-2, the key area is going to be the double pivot in midfield.
Whoever has played in the double pivot this season has been lacking in physicality, defensive mindset, the ability to win tackles, the ability to win headers and the ability to win second balls.

We desperately need a Fabinho type player in there.
I believe you could then have Gravenberch or Szoboszlai playing alongside them and it would bring the best out of them.
This is obvious to see yet the issue has never been addressed.

4231 or 3421 will suit the current players.

1

12 Apr 2026 11:24:12
Agree, KP, but it is clear whichever formation, we need a proper number 6 and Wirtz needs legs around.

With all the talk around Allison leaving, we should have a serious look at the young Ipswich keeper currently at Coventry. I've seen Rushworth play quite a lot this season and he is a fantastic shot stopper, good with both feet and is a commanding figure. I think the young man is destined for big things.

6

12 Apr 2026 08:56:16
A quick search shows he is a Brighton player that has had plenty of game time on loan barring last season. It all depends on what the plan is for the 3, excluding Ali, that we already have. Mamardashvili looks like he will get until the end of the season to prove his worth, then we have Jaros with the injury, and the youngster Pecsi.

Woodman I would personally expect to leave at the end of his contract.

On the keeper situation, who would you all like to be our no1 after AB leaves... Mine would be either get Kelleher back or I like the Sunderland keeper Roefs.
