Hi eds,

You have previously mentioned FSG and a multi-club model; namely interest pertaining to club (s) from the MLS and France.

May I ask which clubs these are?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - They wanted Toulouse and I understand there are a couple of options in the US.}

I would have no problem selling trent to Madrid as long as we sign geertruuda of feyenord or someone of a high quality with Bradley as understudy. Hopefully as feyenord are a selling club I would love us to poach max weiffer also. These 2 players arne slot knows well and seem key I would have no problem him bringing them into our team.

I’d be wary of us doing an ‘EtH’. He took a quarter of the Ajax team with him (Antony, Martinez, Onana etc) and not one of them is good enough.

Geertruida, Hancko, Gimenez and Weiffer have all been linked already. Just got to make sure they are actually the right players, and not just convenient signings because Slot knows them. I believe we were interested in Hancko before Slot so that one makes sense I suppose.

13 May 2024 11:43:19
These 2 players are key to how he plays and proper players.

13 May 2024 12:00:04
I like the look of Geertruida myself mate, but I've only seen highlights and I have to remind myself of the level of opposition he's up against. Agree that they are key though, as it sounds like Feyenoord's whole system hinges on his ability as an inverted full back.

Hancko seems to be one we've scouted and had on the list before we even had interest in Slot. I'm not saying I don't want us to sign these Feyenoord players as I've never seen any of them play a full game, but I'd hate it if we signed them just because they're Slot's mates. It didn't work out very well for United is all.

I just want the best options, not the convenient options. In some cases they might be the same players!

13 May 2024 16:07:00
Yes I agree definitely untested but they have the knowledge how slot wants to play and they have the quality geertruuda can play centre back also and converts a lot better than trent as he is a defender first, weiffer is perfect for us in midfield can do everything well.

Good morning Ed002,

If you have some time today I would appreciate your opinion.

Regarding Liverpool getting the band back together regarding Edward's and Ward be it for FSG do you believe that Edwards was worthy of such a roll considering he was with Liverpool before Klopp came to Liverpool but only seen his stock rise after results got better on the pitch due to Klopp?

Regarding the transfer strategy do you believe it will resume in the same manner with younger talent with potential and not necessarily the finished article?

In your opinion do you think Klopp was somewhat frustrated with Liverpools transfer policy or was he completely onboard with the strategy? I assume he would have liked more to spend but that doesn't always prove the right way.

I appreciate you cannot know what Liverpool or Klopp may or may not have been thinking but I would be grateful if you could share your opinion. Thank you as always Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - Edwards is replacing Mike Gordon for now but FSG have a plan to expand to a multi-club operation so roles will be evolving. I am not sure what the plan is with the transfer strategy except to say that the tagets for this summer are seemingly based on Hunter, Fallows and Klopp choices. Klopp got his own way on a few purchases but others have been way better buys - so the existing strategy works.}

Thanks for the response Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Not LFC related directly but do the Eds have any better info as to what's happening to the blue club on Merseyside? Sound like they aren't far off having to go into administration and doesn't that mean automatic relegation?

{Ed002's Note - Try the Everton page.}

I have been to the Everton pages fairly often and from what I gather, they effectively have no cash and have mountains of debts to pay off. They don't have the money to continue paying for the new stadium and have been receiving loans from 777 to pay operational costs, including wages. If the takeover by 777 does not happen, which looks increasingly unlikely, then they would need to find a way to pay this off as well. It doesn't bode well for them, and they would need to sell their prized players (Pickford, Braithwaite, and Onana) in the summer to even have hopes of not going into administration, which would result in a 9-point deduction.

Their situation does remind me of what we were like under H&G before FSG came in to rescue us, albeit not as bad.

13 May 2024 11:07:45
Even with a 9 point deduction, they won't be going down.

If, as expected 115 charges FC win the league next week, Arsenal finish second and Liverpool third , I would say Liverpool have had a better season than Arsenal. They would have finished second, qualified for CL but not won a trophy , we have finished 3rd qualified for CL and won one of the two domestic cups on offer. That to me says we have had a better season. Especially as no one thought we would be in a title race going in to the end of April as we were, and in fact technically only out of it as late as yesterday. Arsenal were expected to challenge again. So all in all I think we have had the better season based on what was achieved and the expectations at the start of the season.

With the unlimited resources that City have, they’ll probably win next year and every year for the foreseeable future. I can’t see anything tangible coming from those 115 charges. Eventually though it will turn fans away from the game as the illusion of a title race will have gone.

13 May 2024 08:51:36
Let’s not forget, all we had to do was beat palace at anfield and we fluffed it. Not acceptable on our part and also nothing to do with 115 charges.

13 May 2024 14:10:38
City are 7 ahead of us with a better goal difference. Even if we had beaten Palace and Everton or drew with Everton but beat Palace and West Ham we’d still be behind them.

13 May 2024 15:42:30
At the point we played palace it was in our hands or am I losing the plot?

Hi Ed,

It's been a while, I hope you're well!
It's a shame as a Liverpool supporter we couldn't send Jurgen Klopp off in the best way.
Man city just win everything these last 8 years. Only lost the title once to Liverpool.

Looking at the players they're buying, they look unstoppable and with Pep at the helm. They have amazing youth players coming through.
Do you rate Liverpool young players coming through? We've had a lot of 17, 18, 19 yr olds play this season. Not playing UCL has allowed these kids to get more game time and do very well.

Would love to get yours thoughts on Arne Slot.
Jurgen will be missed 😢

Kind regards
Tommy T.

{Ed001's Note - Bradley, Beck and Danns look ready for more involvement. McConnell looks like he needs to get more time to allow him to relax and fit in. The others look like they need a regular run of games to be able to make it, whether on loan or because of injuries to the team again. They don't look ready to just jump straight in and play regularly though without a few struggles as they learn like the 4 I mentioned do.}

I think this is the best crop to come out the academy since the late 1990-98, Ed001. Back when Mcmanaman, Fowler, Owen, Carragher and Gerrard all came through. I do think Bradley, Quansah, Bajcetic and Elliott are the standouts myself. But the likes of Beck, Koumas, Clark, Gordon, Danns, Doak and McConnell are players who even if they don’t make it here, you can see them going and doing well elsewhere at a good level. Shoutout Jaros as well who is probably going to win the Austrian league with Sturm Graz. Could be a solid Kelleher replacement if he moves on for first team football.

After having Trent, Jones and Kelleher come through in the last 6 years, it’s nice to see the next batch looking even more impressive.

12 May 2024 15:12:52
I am personally excited about Chambers too. He didn't really impress when playing for us this season, but whenever I have watched him otherwise he seems really good. A solid player all round with a good brain, good engine, good technically.

12 May 2024 15:22:20
I always get really excited about youth players coming through and love it when they make it with us. Really hoping we give the likes of those mentioned above a chance and I would add Sepp Van De Berg and Carvalho into the mix.

Sorry Eds, not LFC related but congrats to Bologna and T. Motta for qualifying for the champions league. My wife is from Bologna so I have casually followed them for the past two decades. Just an incredible accomplishment for such a small market club who, for the most part, measures success by simply remaining in series A. Forza Bologna.

Always great to see underdogs do well, good luck to them mate. Saw it last night and thought it was bloody fantastic, good for them.
