Have been a Liverpool supporter all my life but for some reason even prior to the klopp announcement have been finding this season one of the most exciting EVER. We seem to be playing below our potential most weeks but keep showing the knack and character to keep winning. FSG need to move heaven and earth to get Alonso but regardless of who comes in going to miss Klopp so so much. What a time to be a Liverpool supporter. Peace and love to all.

Playing below your potential if fine till you play arsenal then you lose 3-1, to win the title we will have to click into gear at some point!

{Ed025's Note - i think being top of the league, in a cup final, and still heavily involved in another 2 cup competitions means that click has already happened Mr Bean, you are being a bit harsh there mate..

2.) 18 Feb 2024 09:07:50
Clicking into gear right now would be unfair to the league lol
Think this is a fairly normal title chase so far and we’re right in it.

3.) 18 Feb 2024 09:23:10
Are Mr Bean and Leek related?

{Ed025's Note - its a Leek and Bean soup.. :)

4.) 18 Feb 2024 09:28:49
Mr Bean, if we do click into gear we definitely win the league and if not we still have a chance. What's not to be excited about?

5.) 18 Feb 2024 10:16:36
Mr Bean, would that be the Arsenal we knocked out of the League Cup?

6.) 18 Feb 2024 11:19:39
Wait until that Champions League kicks in and that Arsenal team have the weight of the world on their shoulders again.
Decades of being the laughing stock of English football in Europe. They never handle the pressure.
Gunners imposter syndrome.

7.) 18 Feb 2024 11:54:19
I think our current level is lower than that of the Title winning, CL winning seasons and even those were we finished second 1 point behind City twice. I think City also dropping a level has helped with us currently being top. We have clicked into gear, either our standard gas dropped or the rest of league have improved.

8.) 18 Feb 2024 12:39:00
wasit 26 wins and a draw in the 1st 27 games of the title season? that's not normal, once in a lifetime stuff.

9.) 18 Feb 2024 15:02:16
Mr Bean, and how many games did we lose before the Arsenal game where we had 2 players drop out due to injury and family tragedy the night before the game? yeah, you must be related to Leek and if you like, Negative Walter.

10.) 18 Feb 2024 15:07:44
@Westwood666 in addition to @JNkkunku's post, that team took 3 years to build from the shambles Rodgers left behindwhile this one is not even a season old yet so the comparison is unnecassary bast on the facts. Not sure why the comparison even exists, really even tho I agree with you that we are clicking into gear, the Arsenal los notwithstanding.

11.) 18 Feb 2024 23:29:04
I made the comparison Oli because I feel a lot of people (myself included until recently) expect that sort of previous form when in reality it's very rare as Nkunku said. People want us to be that good again, which we are not, when we only need to be better than the rest of the current teams in the league, which at the moment we are, that's all.

Would be interested in your thoughts. If we could only buy one player this window and the choice was between Palhinha Cdm, Inácio CB or Bowen Anywhere along the front who would you pick? I thought the last thing we need is an attacking player but I found myself surprisingly going for Bowen. I think he would hVee the biggest benificial effect on the team.

1.) 28 Dec 2023 02:09:30
Inacio. Matip out for a long time, Konate injury prone, Gomez fullback cover, Quansah still learning. We’ve burnt our bridges with Sporting though so it ain’t happening.

2.) 28 Dec 2023 02:56:18
Would Palinha be an upgrade on Endo? Yes
But Endo would only be away for a month and he is generally fit and available, but there’s TAA and Baj to cover if needed. Plus Palinah would be expensive, so probably not a priority for now though I can see how he can improve us massively.

Would Inácio improve our backline? Very likely but he plays mainly on the right though he’s left footed. While Matip is out, we have Konate, Gomez and Quansah. If things get desperate, we can still keep Phillips since he’s coming back in Jan. Our backline has been quite solid too with VVD back in form, Alisson being in goal, and the other 3 performing well when called upon. So not a priority too.

At present, we have 5 attackers. But only Salah is banging them in and possibly Jota now that he’s back. But the latter does get injured here and there. We are well stocked on the left with Diaz, Jota, Nunez, Gakpo. Nunez, Gakpo, Salah and even Jota can play centre. But apart from Salah, we have no one on RW and I don’t think Doak is ready yet. So yes, I may go for him too but he did be expensive as well. But he’s PL proven, in good form. However, with Salah being mostly available, always wanting to play and other areas being well stocked, I’m unsure he did move to us to become a squad player.

3.) 28 Dec 2023 06:17:55
Out of those 3 I’d go Inacio.

4.) 28 Dec 2023 08:00:38
Inácio
Hands down
He can play left back aswell which we could play Joe go right back and Trent dm while endo is away inacio gives us that squad flexibility again.

5.) 28 Dec 2023 08:30:27
Inacio and a DM. I am not sold on Paulinha.

6.) 28 Dec 2023 08:46:31
A DM and a left sided sided CB if the players Klopp wants for those positions are available. But in terms of priority then the CB is higher in my view. Matip has absolutely to be replaced. And I'm sure Klopp is thinking in terms of VVD's eventual successor whoever he brings in. Overall I'm okay with Endo and Mac Allister as DMs for the near future (till the summer) .

I'd seriously consider a RW also, but only if Salah has indicated to the club that he wants to move on next summer. I wouldn't doubt Salah staying on for another year and going off on a free in 2025. There are still records to break and I'm sure it's one of the things on Salah's mind aside from the extra millions he'd make in the Saudi League.

7.) 28 Dec 2023 09:10:51
I'd go option 4. Yusuf Fofana as DM who can also comfortably play 8.

Fofana, Endo, Jones, Szobozlai, Bajcetic, Mac Allaister, Elliott would be incredible options.

8.) 28 Dec 2023 10:23:05
Inacio and a DM, just not Palhinha. He’ll be 29 this season and there’s absolutely no value there at the price Fulham want. Fofana is a good shout.

9.) 28 Dec 2023 10:47:56
Maybe the price of the player should come into the equation.

10.) 28 Dec 2023 18:30:30
Why can we only pick one? We bought four midfielders in the last window.

11.) 28 Dec 2023 11:34:45
We missed two tricks by not challenging PSG for Lucas Beraldo and Gabriel Moscardo. Really smart signings.

The South American market isn’t something we appear to be ready to shop in.

Brought my son to the match yesterday and got seats beside the kop. Only our second time there, WHAT A BUZZ. Thought we missed Ali, the back line, midfield and forward line didn't function as well as it can and we still won 4-3. There is something very special about this team.

1.) 04 Dec 2023 12:45:31
Thats something your son will remember his whole life! Nice choice of game!

2.) 04 Dec 2023 12:56:16
I was in the anfield road end! hope you and the lad had amazing day that ending was simply magic only word for it being there!

3.) 04 Dec 2023 14:42:34
Glad you enjoyed the game, lads. It was crazy at my local, as well owned by a huge LFC fan from Kossovo.

4.) 04 Dec 2023 14:55:16
If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay and from where?

19 Oct 2023 12:40:58
Quick question if possible guys. Hoping to bring my son to us against Fulham on 2nd Dec. Trying to organise flights. Noticed we are also playing LASK a couple of days previously. It Fulham game likely to be moved?

Redcork20

{Ed001's Note - yes, we won't play Thursday, Saturday. It will move to Sunday I am sure.}

1.) 19 Oct 2023 13:04:08
Cheers for response Ed001. Much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate. The Premier League really should sort these things out much sooner for the sake of the fans. But we all know they couldn't give a toss about match going fans.}

2.) 19 Oct 2023 14:43:11
Defo Sunday but it’s harder than ever to get tickets atm.

3.) 21 Oct 2023 17:31:49
Will the Man U fixture get moved from saturday December the 16th to Sunday the 17th? We’ve booked a hotel hoping it does ?.

Thought we were poor yesterday and still managed a draw away to a very strong Brighton side. Still loads more to come from this team. Onwards and upwards.

Redcork20

1.) 09 Oct 2023 12:13:22
Redcork - On the face of it, a draw away to Brighton isn’t a bad result in isolation, but I don’t believe it’s a good result either.
1. We have now twice failed to capitalize on City losing and though the refereeing performances were atrocious in both games, we haven’t taken advantage.
2. We started yet another game poorly - it’s dreadful that the coaches/ players keep letting this happen.
3. Brighton are a much-admired team but it’s wise to remember they have been thrashed by fairly simple tactics three times in about 10 competitive matches going back to Everton last season.
Not a bad result, but I believe this Liverpool team could do better.

2.) 09 Oct 2023 12:58:13
I thought we messed it up. Brighton were there for the taking yesterday. When we pressed and speeded up our play they couldn’t cope but we dropped off them. Klopp/ pep cocked this one up playing Mac as a DM it is not working and everyone can see it. We have Endo sat on the bench watching Mac constantly making mistakes. I feel so sorry for the lad as he’s done nothing wrong. Every game I’ve seen him play for us he’s been good.

3.) 09 Oct 2023 18:25:05
I think you do De Zerbi a disservice.
There's a touch of the Klopp about him in his ability to take on the favourites and motivate his players.
Brighton have a good record and usually give a good account of themselves in such games.

4.) 09 Oct 2023 22:10:32
Brighton's game plan was not allowing us to play out. They had 3 players typically standing about 10 yards of Macallister. They swarmed him and put him under tons of pressure. Virgil's pass for the goal wasn't great and Alison I think should have done better. Macca not at fault for me. He looks way better turning up the pitch with the ball like he did in the second half.

If we're going to persist w the same mids I'd like to see Dom play 6. He played there when Macca went off against Bournemouth and played a blinder. Has pace that Macca woefully lacks to cover the ground and much better under pressure.

5.) 10 Oct 2023 01:13:52
Agree with Redcork here, a point away at Brighton is a good result in the circumstances, they're a quality side and under appreciated by many. We came away with a point from a team that will take plenty of points off every team in the top half this season, home and away.

We should be better defensively though and we should be good enough to close a game like that out but all in all, no complaints from me. We need to remember where we were last season and where we are this season, big transition but still doing very well.

6.) 10 Oct 2023 10:03:02
RobbosPress and trust me had Joao Pedro scored that final chance, there would be absolute mayhem. So all things being equal, a point was all we really could have hoped for judging by the way we actually played.

Alonso and then Amorim for me. Article from BBC a little while back giving stats on the most likely candidates.

I tend to judge these things as if they happened to Liverpool. If the Onana block was from Salah I would be screaming for a penalty. The Odegaard handball was a clear penalty and another obvious error in such a long list of errors by VAR. Watched the quarter finals of the cup a few weeks ago and VAR wasn't in use. What a pleasant breath of fresh air it was. Something is going to have to be done, it is ruining soccer.
