Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I watched a documentary on iplayer Shankly : Nature’s Fire . what a legend made the hairs in the back of my neck stand up, he is what the club is all about and would definitely sort out our soft underbelly if he was around today.

He probably wouldn't get the time.

A question for you Eds.

Messi is in the last season of his contract and has yet to sign a new one. The Barcelona President is doing his best to keep a lid on it having claimed that it was signed when it wasn't, then saying it was ok as Messi's father had signed the contract and it was only a formality that Messi sign it. But until Messi signs it it is worthless. Rumours are spreading in Barcelona that he is going. In a little over a month he can start talking to other clubs. Man City and PSG being the obvious ones.

Would this matter to Coutinho? Would he view a Barcelona less Messi, Neymar and Iniesta in the same light?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - coutinho wants to leave Liverpool - it has been done to death. Barcelona has been talking to Liverpool about a deal. It has nothing to do with any of the players at Barcelona.}

24 Nov 2017 20:41:44
Yep, I know he wants out.
Just wondering if PSG might become the destination.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that there is interest from elsewhere but he want s Barcelona and they are trying to sort out a deal.}

24 Nov 2017 21:09:36
Cheers Ed02.

24 Nov 2017 22:22:27
Are we in talks with Messi?

25 Nov 2017 08:10:49
Why Messi? Since we are dreaming why not go for Ascensio?

25 Nov 2017 12:11:09
How about a straight swap Ed002? Messi for Coutinho? Messi would be an excellent replacement.
Messing by the way 😉.

Klopp should give Solanke a chance tomorrow, he will be highly motivated even if for the last 30 minutes.

Difference of managers
BODGERs- responsibility of loss is with players . some one xyz played bad that’s why we lost .
KLOPP - things happen sometime they go wrong . It’s just football, I take full responsibility of things that went wrong . Players are not kindergarten they will come back!
Such a refreshing change.

24 Nov 2017 16:10:05
The greatest change could have been improving the backline instead of caring about what managers say.

24 Nov 2017 16:49:53
TO be fair to ‘bodgers’ what you said was not true, he used to say things never went our way and we showed great character. He may not have been the msot loved manager but he got us to second. Show respect. I love klopp he has his faults but I think he’s suited to us as a club, enjoy what we have and stop insulting managers of the past. I can accept reviewing aspects of his game but making up waffle about him is quite uncouth.

24 Nov 2017 17:22:45
I don’t ever remember Rodgers blaming the players. He talked absolute nonsense yes but I can’t remember him blaming players.
Mourinho on the other hand has done it to such a degree he completely lost the dressing room. I remember Tim Sherwood slagging the Spurs players off and most recently Unsworth slagging the Everton players off last night! (Aren’t we all?! 😂)

24 Nov 2017 17:43:53
That is not what Rogers was like at all, your just twisting it to suit your pointless comment. I don’t see why you’d compare Rogers and Klopp as if to say there’s some sort of improvement based on how they handle the press. Let’s make another pointless comparison and say Rogers has a better overall win ratio than Klopp.

24 Nov 2017 18:38:33
Yes.

He would always say this-

We were outstanding
We showed excellent character

even if we played well or bad or dross.

This is motivating in a positive sense.

Respect where it is due.

Cheers.

Bodgers fluked us to 2nd on Suarez back. And then he had 2 and a bit seasons of crap.
He was self promoting, talking about how he did this and that, it was annoying especially after the year we came 2nd when it just felt like he wouldn't take responsibility for bad results and only take it for wins.

24 Nov 2017 11:47:33
Hey ed001, a question for you. When do you seeing Ben woodburn really becoming a regular in the Liverpool team. He has phenomenal talent, and also looks to have a wise head. And can we expect to see him in league action this season? Surely, he can be a good option off the bench, or maybe even start against the weaker teams.

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is just a kid, I doubt he really becomes a regular for 3 years or so.}

24 Nov 2017 13:00:47
Possibly five, look how klopp is nurturing Gomez who is what 21? He doesn't want to stick him straight into cb because a few poor games or mistakes idiots will criticise. I'd say 23 for most of our youngster's and so it should be. England ruin our beat youth by playing them when there body's are still developing. The premier league is too much intensity for young kids.

24 Nov 2017 13:28:25
I disagree most of England's better players were getting regular game time at a young age. Gerrard, lampard, Ferdinand, Rooney, Owen etc they were all kids and playing regular top flight football.

24 Nov 2017 13:44:35
If you keep buying attacking players you ll never see him or any one in the first team anytime soon.

24 Nov 2017 15:51:00
True Harry, ultimately if there needs to be faith in the player otherwise the years they are expected to develop end in regression. Weve been seeing it in talented English youngsters for years.

24 Nov 2017 16:52:24
Ed01, it wasn’t common but wasn’t unheared of that players used to come through at 18/ 19, is that changing due to pressures and results or is it players like woodburn (who I rate massively) just aren’t seen as good enough to challenge until 20/ 21 or because of the pressures etc fore mentioned? Not arguing with you or advocating throwing a kid to the lions but a genuine question :! Thanks for your time.

{Ed001's Note - physically football has changed, personally I think that is the main change. Now they need a bit longer or they are just not as quick, strong and powerful as those they are up against and risk getting seriously hurt. The main thing is the changes in transfer windows. Now no one can risk throwing in a kid, in case it doesn't work, so they buy extra ready made players instead, knowing that otherwise they have half a season before they could buy one. In the past they could buy at any time, so they could give a kid a chance and then buy if it didn't work.}

24 Nov 2017 19:08:30
Den - you just named 5 of England's greatest players of threats couple decades. No argument from me, but for those 5 there are dozens others at their age who couldn't sustain or push through.

24 Nov 2017 23:49:10
I just feel without regular game time the chances of being the players they should be grow smaller and smaller. Top flight teams buy the best young talent and then don't give them the opportunity to grow. The likes of sessegnon, dembele will be top players because they are avoiding the top teams until they are ready.

25 Nov 2017 10:25:29
Thank you for the reply ed! Informative as ever.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

24 Nov 2017 07:58:31
Really looking forward to this Chelsea game.

A few people have mentioned that Bobby looked tired after 70, and Henderson definitely looks shot to bits.

I think Firmino just needs a partner to be fair so he isn't asked to press all by himself. I think we should revert back to the team which won 1-4 at West Ham if I'm honest. Though I'd seriously consider using Solanke in this game as he will feel he has a point to prove against them.

24 Nov 2017 08:40:44
Just like Moreno did? ;) I’m expecting a good game and don’t think a win is it if the question but we shall see.

24 Nov 2017 14:48:34
MK, your right, Bobby was doing a lot on his own, which was why I had mentioned that the Ox might have come on sooner,
Lallana is nearly ready to play again, so with his high workrate, he should take some of the work load of Bobby, and more of a high press .

24 Nov 2017 15:50:05
That's different Barnes.

Moreno didn't choose to leave Sevilla. He also supports Sevilla, not to mention the fact that he loses his head easily at the best of times.

Solanke chose to leave Chelsea. He is not a Chelsea fan, and he has already proven at just 20 years old that he has excellent mental fortitude.

Different scenario's and players. Plus they play different position. A defender arguably needs to keep cool. A forward being a little but aggressive or unpredictable is more of a good thing than it is bad.

I agree though Happy. I think we should bring Chamberlain back in. He was playing really well so i don't know why he was dropped.

24 Nov 2017 16:55:32
TRUE MK and I’d be happy for him to get a cameo but I wouldn’t advocate playing him from the beginning, (not saying that’s what you suggested) I think he can finish and hold the ball up but so long as firmino isn’t fit he suits the team so much. I’d bring solanke on before sturridge tho. I want the lad to get more chances but as Liverpool fans of today seem to be so quick to turn, if he misses a sitter and we lose points because of it he’d Be slaughtered. I think we need someone like klopp at the helm to protect players because quite honestly as a fan base we’re rather impatient Of late it seems.

24 Nov 2017 19:10:44
MK yyou're talking about Dominic as if he has a Diego costa in him? I don't know him well enoughee, so couldn't sayget but he's struck as a guy who plays with that kind of edge. Great if he does, we need some guys like that.

24 Nov 2017 19:36:11
I think we need to play two deeper in midfield tomorrow if only to leave less space for Hazard then let our front guys cause them problems which I’m sure they will.

23 Nov 2017 23:36:19
Hey Eds, there's a question that's been in the back of my mind for years but I've never asked, I wondered if you knew anything about it.

Back in 2003 Liverpool played Chelsea in the last match of the season, occupying 4th and 5th. Chelsea won that day and qualified for the Champion's League. Soon afterwards Abramovich bought them.

I'm wondering if history would be different if Liverpool had won that game? Would Abramovich have bought Chelsea? Would he have looked at a different club, was there a chance he would have bought us?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Was it not Spurs Abramovich was initially looking to buy? I don't think buying Liverpool was ever an option for him.}

24 Nov 2017 07:49:33
I'm sure I read he was due to buy spurs. But when he was flying over London in his helicopter he saw the Chelsea stadium and changed his mind.

24 Nov 2017 08:38:32
He spoke to ranieri and aske a who he should buy.

Ranieri said Chelsea for immeddiate success or spurs for longer term success.

24 Nov 2017 13:06:18
I remember that rumour at the time. Kind of glad though I'd hate to be a Chelsea fan constantly letting go of youngsters, knowing you had kdb etc. That's one of the best things about being a fan, seeing youngsters come through.

24 Nov 2017 16:56:49
HOW ‘long term’ Was spurs success supposed to be? They love ok good but still don’t look like winning anything.
