Why is it whenever we win easily everyone talks about how poor the opposition is? Because when we are at it we stifle them so much they make error after error. Great performance tonight well done lads!

Ings n things

1.) 17 Oct 2017 22:25:23
Ings IMO, it is cos some of our fans wallow in so much self pity that they simply cannot bring themselves to saying that we did well. They'd rather make excuses for the opposition than give our boys whatever amount of credit they deserve just to satisfy such a defeatist attitude. Just my take.

2.) 17 Oct 2017 22:32:27
You can only beat what's in front of you so for that alone we can only praise the lads.

3.) 17 Oct 2017 22:32:56
They just weren't a very good team. I would doubt there is a poorer team in the competition. Let's not fool ourselves but what was impressive was our ability to put the chances away and not even give them a sniff. Let's still enjoy the win and looking at the table- the goal difference as well.

4.) 17 Oct 2017 22:37:49
I think it’s like a defence mechanism. If you constantly bitch and moan about how bad we are then when we lose it gives you a sense of satisfaction that you were right rather than having that gut wrenching feeling I get when we lose. When we do well it’s because the other team are poor just so they can justify their comments keeping their guard up in preparation for the next poor result. It’s quite sad really.

5.) 17 Oct 2017 22:51:48
Aoe that’s exactly what I mean. When we play well we make the opposition look bad because we don’t let them breathe. A 7-0 score line away in the Champions League vertually never happens. It’s our biggest away win in Europe ever! That alone should tell you what a great performance that was.

14 Oct 2017 00:10:24
I’ve just been reading through the posts and everyone seems so down and pessimistic about tomorrow (Mr ‘doomsday’ Dennis especially) . Am I the only person who thinks we’ll do them tomorrow? I really do. The City game apart, where there were mitigating circumstances we’ve been playing well. We just need to finish our chances and we’ll be fine. They will be shocked at how good we are they haven’t played any games against teams as good as us this season. Believe guys we are still the same team that smashed Arsenal 4-0 and it could’ve been 8. Lukaku and Micky will be anonymous they always are in big games. We will win I’m 100% sure of it.

1.) 14 Oct 2017 00:24:20
I like your positive post mate, let's hope you are right.

2.) 14 Oct 2017 04:09:14
We can still win the title we have 12 pts in 7 games where we were very unlucky. 31 x 3 = 93 pts still to play no reasons to be so pessimistic yet. There is time to change our fortunes starting against Manchester United.

3.) 14 Oct 2017 08:00:28
Spot on, Ings and the rest. If you think some are pessimistic on this forum, let me invite you over to the This Is Anfield comments section. By many of the comments on there, we might as well forfeit the game and crawl up into a corner and cry our eyes out till the end of the season. Yeah, those are our very own fans saying that. My message to them and those on here is: If you are so sure that we will fail pls, don't watch.

As for the game, I know the odds are stacked against us and the media bias towards Utd is deafening. However, Klopp is a master at these types of games. His record and reputation is unrivaled in these situations and don't forget, we have beaten Utd with teams way worse than this one in the past. We are at home and hopefully, the 3 points will be our own at the end.

{Ed025's Note - i would say to the doubters...put money on utd if you think they are superior and will win easy mate..

4.) 14 Oct 2017 08:53:15
Yeah Bingo agreed mate, there's a lot of daft supporters who may as well be supporting Utd the way they go on about how 'terrible' we are etc. All before the whistle has even been blown, luckily not all are like that. We do know though, they will all crawl out of the woodwork should we lose today, the site will be inundated with them. Good luck to the eds should that be the case but let's hope it's not.

5.) 14 Oct 2017 11:11:29
Love it, Ed25. Put your money where your mouth is if you are so sure of yourselves that Utd will walk this game, LFC haters.

Corleone, I propose the Ed's have their pain-killers ready cos it will be complete mayhem.

{Ed025's Note - we should be supplied with a bottle of JD and an ounce of wacky bacca bingo..

6.) 14 Oct 2017 11:16:27
Hah Ed025 I used to always bet on liverpools opposition, and at least if we lost then I'd have free beer money to drown my sorrows. Problem is, half of the games ended in draws and a double chance pays out sweet FA!

{Ed025's Note - i do the same with everton AC....im just off now on my luxury yacht to drink some crystal champagne mate.. :)

7.) 14 Oct 2017 11:45:21
Today is the day we get our mojo back👍🏻.

8.) 15 Oct 2017 08:55:22
There is a similar situation there mate to city game we have no mane and you no what happened against city that's probably why the doom and gloom brother but I am like you I think we can beat them today 2-1.

21 Sep 2017 09:09:28
I see there's speculation that Lovren has pulled out of the last 2 games last minute? Do you know anything about it eds? It would explain the changes and why Klavan is playing way too much right now.

Ings n things

{Ed002's Note - No idea, I assukme it would be injury related in which case it would be a surprise the club didn't know.}

1.) 21 Sep 2017 09:29:15
I mentioned a while back that it's known that he's going through some personal problems at the moment Ings.
Can't go into it on here but the information is out there.

15 Sep 2017 19:35:08
I want to go completely against the grain here and praise Klopp for not signing a CB this summer (this will get some disagrees but hear me out) .
He feels VVD is the ideal man for his system and VVD has said he wants to come so if Klopp's or VVD's feelings stay the same then the deal will happen at some point. Could be January, could be next summer but it will likely happen.
Why then would he go out and buy another CB that is perhaps ok but not as good as VVD? For me he's showing patience and above all not panicking and putting us in a situation where we have players that are not good enough because we couldn't find the right one.
In the meantime we have to make do with what we have but I guarantee you that slowly but surely as the transfer windows pass he will get the right players in until we have an unstoppable team. Then it's just a case of a couple of new signings each summer to freshen things up.

I guess what I'm saying is have patience this guy knows what he's doing and I really do feel he will get it done.

Ings n things

1.) 15 Sep 2017 19:53:35
We could do with 2 centre backs though. VVD plus a partner.

2.) 15 Sep 2017 20:02:00
That's if Saints even agree to do business with us. VVD could end up elsewhere. We have put all our eggs in 1 basket when there are plenty of centre half's who are better than the 3 we have. What happens next summer if we have no CL football to offer due to our current defence.

3.) 15 Sep 2017 20:03:06
Vvd mat hummels and keita and we would be good to go imo.

4.) 15 Sep 2017 20:08:50
Why? I think VVD and Matip would be a good partnership. If not then I'm sure we'll get someone else. You don't want to change too much at once as Everton are finding out at the moment.

5.) 15 Sep 2017 20:12:33
VVD probably already has a partner Mikey, think he's engaged actually. :)

6.) 15 Sep 2017 20:19:10
Coz we need 2 CB's. He took a chance not buying a CB and the team as a whole will face its consequences.

7.) 15 Sep 2017 20:45:19
Ings, that's my take as well cos tho I am frustrated like anyone else and many may disagree with that approach BUT I understand it cos look at City. They dropped 150 on defenders this season YET they are crap at the back and their best defender was the one signed in 2008 in Kompany. We just have to be patient.

8.) 15 Sep 2017 21:01:35
Jay den. That is a very good point and one I hadn't thought of. If we don't get cl football who do we sign? Gibson I guess. That said I do think we will finish top four.

9.) 15 Sep 2017 21:05:07
Harry you're missing the point. He didn't take a chance. I think he's well aware of our defensive frailties but rather than settle for second best he's prepared to wait for the right man. Us fans are so impatient and want everything now. Social media makes it worse as it gives us a platform to air our frustrations immediately then everyone gets together and what is a small problem escalates in to Armageddon.
Klopp has to think about the long term and he's obviously happy to work with what he has until he can get the right players in. Rightly so in my opinion.

10.) 15 Sep 2017 21:37:18
No he is not Ings. But now he understand slowly that we are in deep deep trouble at the back. It's like a car and all 3 types are crap! It doesn't move, if it was only one you could change it with a spare.
Prepared to wait for the right man? What if this crap defense cost us CL spot next season? No chance in heaven we would afford VVD!
Can I say, Any second best is miles better than what we have with us! You are finding a way to defend the club / board / manager.

Regarding long term, There is no guarantee he would remain beyond next season. This is a result oriented business mate. Like every manager he too has certain goals.

We have conceded 13 goals in 7 games already.

11.) 15 Sep 2017 21:59:01
As usual Harry you are overreacting and the roof is caving in on your little world. These are the same defenders that got us to 4th last year and we have improved going forward this year. We are still in good shape the last 2 games don't change that.

12.) 15 Sep 2017 22:02:22
I don't think Klopp broke the rules and risked a transfer ban by tapping up VVD in Blackpool so he could sign him in a years time. No matter what kind of spin we put on it without improving the central defence this last window we have dropped a bo##ock.

13.) 15 Sep 2017 22:31:22
Ings, it's not just this transfer window is it? He signed Matip - Not good enough
Klavan - Not good enough

Sorry mate, when you take over as manager, you look to address the weaknesses. We are no further forward than under Brendan Rodgers, we shipped 42 goals last season, 12 from set pieces. On the last two games alone, we've conceded 7 goals in two games!

This is not a "last transfer window " issue !

14.) 15 Sep 2017 22:45:28
VVD is engaged? Who's he in Lovren with.

15.) 15 Sep 2017 22:59:24
Ings

Overreacting? The entire 70 million Liverpool supporters are overreacting then mate! Lovren would have dragged us out from top 4 last season and thanks to Coutinho and Can bailing us out!
You sound too confident on this defense to do the job, Tell me which team would we replace in top 4 next summer? UTD, Chelsea, Spurs or City? I am not even counting Arsenal btw!

16.) 15 Sep 2017 23:26:16
So by waiting for van dijk klopp has prepared to potentially harm us this season because Lovren is a clown. I was raging we didn't sign a centre half and so far this season has just confirmed how much we needed one.

17.) 16 Sep 2017 00:00:13
That's just it though Harry, we can all see the issues it totally obvious so you have to think he sees them too. He obviously couldn't get anyone of sufficient quality in so is prepared to wait which he should. Let's not forget here that Matip was in the team of the season in the German league and Lovren looked a class defender at Southampton. These are not bad players. Klopp obviously thinks he can't get anyone better in and let's face it all of the top teams struggled to get top defenders in this summer. To the point where Johnny Evans nearly got a big move! There's absolutely no point in signing someone just for the sake of it when your first choice is begging to sign for you. We need to work on building relationships with Southampton and get our man. It makes me laugh how fans bitch and moan without having the slightest idea what's been going on behind the scenes.

18.) 16 Sep 2017 02:03:08
Still a lot of de Vrie talk about. Maybe him and VVD and let Lovren and Klavan go? Matip, VVD, Gomez and De Vrie sounds decent to me at CB.

19.) 16 Sep 2017 08:45:46
Similar I suppose to fans who think everything will work out without having the slightest idea of what is going on behind the scenes. Whatever spin we put on it, it's all only opinions.

20.) 16 Sep 2017 09:04:27
But its not all about the defenders is it, there is zero cover from midfield either because of the system we play or they are just not doing their job. Klopp needs to take a look at himself tbh.

14 Sep 2017 18:47:28
Everton 😂.

Ings n things

1.) 14 Sep 2017 19:03:49
Same old same old. Maybe they did not have such a great window after all :-)

2.) 14 Sep 2017 19:56:16
With all those great defenders too. 😉.

3.) 14 Sep 2017 20:02:59
I've got a bet on them to be relegated. I don't honestly think it will happen but with their lack of goals I could see them getting dragged into it.

4.) 14 Sep 2017 20:34:34
Koeman did the Rodgers kid in a candy shop routine spent his pocket money for anything he could buy.

5.) 14 Sep 2017 20:41:25
Everton without Lukaku, I can feel Ed025's pain.

If you are going to spend money like Everton did then one needed to bring in a player who could fill the Lukaku void and I bet Ed025 will wholly agree.

Instead offered Rooney his retirement package. Oh well.

{Ed025's Note - if only it was just the void left by rom max i might be happy, as it is there is no cohesion, passion or organisation anywhere on the pitch, i just cant see where we go from here mate..

6.) 14 Sep 2017 20:43:43
yea half their team walking in our side, stupid predictions they would finish above us, gylfi world class player, keane world class, rooney world class, picford next buffon bla bla. we have problems but theirs are far worse. no creativity and moving of the ball. i think we will solve ours soon but they will have to dig in and fight. fans should be refunded for their trip to italy.

7.) 14 Sep 2017 20:58:49
I like your honesty Ed025 and it shows that you do not sit on the fence. That is what a true supporter is all about.

Your blood is blue, mine is red (context) but it is safe to say that Everton are a very long way from challenging for honours.

Liverpool may have problems but we we are not that far from climbing out of our hole.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree max..

8.) 15 Sep 2017 01:33:28
Koeman's done a Brendan Rodgers imo. Brought one too many CAMs, and their only defensive signing (Michael Keane) is no better than John Stones at defending as i keep pointing out to any EFC fan that will listen. Rooney, Sigurdsson, Klassen all are CAMs right now so why all 3? No replacement for Lukaku and their fullbacks are not getting any younger.
Big opportunity missed by EFC this summer to kick on. BUt like I predicted, those signings they have made will never get them into the top6. that's something I will confidently bet on.

9.) 15 Sep 2017 00:43:06
Too much at once Ed.

Fill out the strongest spine first,
then get the play blueprint (pun) nailed down first and foremost. Then fill out the rest as quality becomes available

That's why we are still messing up, as the 2 centre halfs have never been addressed properly,

{Ed025's Note - your probably right der but the prem is so competitive that time is something that managers dont get these days so the players need to get a rattle on mate..

I think crap is a bit harsh as you say Sami but I don’t know why people say he’s any better than Hendo. He has good games but doesn’t seem to have the discipline or tactical nouse to be a top player. That may come but for the moment he shouldn’t be in our first eleven when everyone’s fit. He will be a good player but not a great player. Good luck to the lad I hope it goes well for him.

The biggest game in the premier league between England's 2 most decorated clubs. It's a massive game as both teams are hugely supported worldwide so they are of course after the audience. I understand it but still don't think it's right that just because of our worldwide draw we get pushed from pillar to post. Could be worse though we could be a team no one wants to watch like you muppets!

{Ed025's Note - your right ings, but if we were on tv i would hate to think that "the peoples club" supporters would bawl their eyes out like 10 year old girls saying "why is it always us", "its not fair","boo hoo"..grow a set will ya mate..

I don't think he wants preferential treatment ed just to be treated the same as everyone else. There's no doubt it's a disadvantage to play early on the Saturday after an international break and we had it after the last International break so why make us do it again? So why put us at a disadvantage twice in a month when everyone else gets extra time to prepare? It's a valid point.
I can see why you don't care you'd have us playing on the Friday morning at 6am if you could but for us it doesn't seem fair.
Just because we are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and people want to see us play our games are moved to inconvenient times. But you just wouldn't understand that would you ;-)

Ings n things

{Ed025's Note - "were" one of the biggest seems more apt ings, because of the money sky are putting into the game they have the right to decide when clubs play, its a big game david at home to goliath and the target audience will be mainly asia, thats just the way it is im afraid mate..

Gibson is no better than Klavan. We didn't sign a CB in the summer as there was a real lack of quality options available. The fact we are talking about Gibson and City tried (and failed) to sign Evans just proves that. Spurs signed the kid from Ajax and their defence looks all the worse for it. We will get someone in but only when the right man or men become available.

It takes time to build a title winning team. I'm not talking about a freak season like Leicester then going back to mid table obscurity.
I'm talking about a team that can consistently challenge on all fronts year in year out. We don't have the money of city where we can just go out and throw unlimited amounts of money at it so when you make that next CB signing it has to be the one that you think will be a mainstay for years to come. Not just a stop gap that might get you through a season and appease idiotic fans that can't see past the end of their own nose.
Yes we have defensive issues and it's infuriating at times but for god's sake give him time to sort it out instead of this pathetic talk of him leaving already! We have a team that with the right couple of additions could really do something give Klopp the time to get the right men in it's not bloody football manager!

Tonight looked easy because we were so dominant but the fact that no other team has ever done that to them in Europe before and they were unbeaten at home this season tells you just how good we were tonight. We always make the opposition look poor when we play well but they are a much better side than we allowed them to be tonight.

Hopefully yesterday is just the start for Ox. He’s had a tough time but did more in 10 minutes than Martial, Rashford, Mickey and Lukaku put together. Hopefully he will start to settle now and kick on.
