Now then redmen/ women

A lack of transfer activity has seen these pages filled with petty squabbles all summer.

The season kicks off tonight so let’s all put that to one side and back our team to the hilt this season!

Can’t wait for the game tonight.

Shaq Attack

1.) 09 Aug 2019 09:50:28
Predictions anyone? I reckon a comfortable 2-0 tonight. Roll on 8pm!

2.) 09 Aug 2019 09:57:39
6-0. :) .

3.) 09 Aug 2019 10:05:49
salah double one from trent late goal from Mane and another header from matip.

4.) 09 Aug 2019 10:11:03
It a when we play Norwich I miss Suarez he was always good for 3 or 4 vs them 😂.

5.) 09 Aug 2019 10:25:20
3-1 I’m going for. Nervy start with Norwich playing on adrenaline but running out of steam. I can’t see Mane starting but when he comes on for Origi we will hit the next gear and run away with it.

6.) 09 Aug 2019 10:38:11
8-0. Salah to score 4.

7.) 09 Aug 2019 11:13:07
People are underestimating Norwich - think it’ll be 3-1 hopefully.

8.) 09 Aug 2019 11:24:16
I will take a 1-0.

9.) 09 Aug 2019 13:03:10
A big wake-up in the first half when we will be saved by VER then we get in gear and score 3 second half.

10.) 09 Aug 2019 13:45:07
5-0, Stadium should be rocking, players will be ready, Norwich will be overawed and destroyed.

11.) 09 Aug 2019 13:48:49
4/ 5-0.

12.) 09 Aug 2019 13:55:36
I would take a 1 nil win, then another 37 1 nil wins after that! 🤞😁.

13.) 09 Aug 2019 14:25:22
4.0 gini, VVD and 2 for mo!

14.) 09 Aug 2019 14:39:45
I don't think we will be firing on all cylinders tonight, so 5-0 for me.

15.) 09 Aug 2019 14:43:56
Love the optimism lads, roll on those 3 points!

16.) 09 Aug 2019 15:58:51
We need to be aiming fir 5-0 wins in every game then if we fall short we win by 3 or 4 goals.
If we aim for 1-0 and we fall short we end up dropping 2 points.
I like Salahs 6-0 prediction and at odds of 28/ 1 i might have a fiver on.

17.) 09 Aug 2019 18:27:43
2 or 3 nil as it’s the opening game. But we should be comfortable winners either way. Quietly confident.

18.) 09 Aug 2019 18:31:52
Do it langland ;)

19.) 09 Aug 2019 20:19:58
7-0 salah x3 mane x2 virgil and keita.

20.) 09 Aug 2019 20:21:02
I'm hoping Salah scores a hatfull - I've triple captained him this week :D.

Wow, woke up to a toxic thread today.

Facts have been stated. Nothing more, nothing less. I find it staggering the amount of posters who can’t hear hard unbias truths.

Great result last night.

I know Gini has been great this year but I think could stake a claim for his spot if Keita continues in that form. Loved Hendo’s energy and passing last night.

What are your thoughts Ed1?

Shaq Attack

{Ed001's Note - sorry not sure what you want my thoughts on.

Brexit? I think he will get found out at Leicester as the poor manager he is when given time and money to spend.

Has Harry switched allegiance to Man City? It certainly seems to.

Will the new Star Wars film finally live up to my childhood memories of the original trilogy? Probably not, but surely it is about time they stopped just rehashing them for the new ones and actually made something original.

Will Trump ever get his wall built? Only if he hires a bunch of Mexican workers to build it for him.....}

1.) 10 Apr 2019 08:52:52
As much as I value your opinion on all those issues Ed!

I meant whether if Keita continues to grow in performance, that we could see Hendo take the place of Gini in that more energetic CM position. I thought with Fabs holding, we had a nice balance and that Hendo could be better suited to Gini’s role.

{Ed001's Note - so you don't want my thoughts on the continuing problems in Palestine? Or whether Turkey should be kicked out of NATO for their continued attempts to commit mass genocide of the Kurdish population? Or, to get to the really important subjects, whether The Avengers movies would be better with Deadpool in them?

I don't think it is a case of taking places, there is room for 6 in there, as the way we play takes a hell of a lot out of players and they need a rest. You only had to see Gini at the weekend to see his legs were gone and he needed a break. Hendo and Keita will too if we are going to play a high-press. I do prefer Henderson in that role though, I think, at his best, he is the best player we have for it in the squad.}

2.) 10 Apr 2019 08:58:11
I saw that Harry had switched allegiances too! How bizarre. Surely the Chelsea midfield was the one for him?

3.) 10 Apr 2019 09:17:00
Hey Ed001. What are your views on The Last Jedi?

Think this movie has divided opinion more than Brexit!

{Ed001's Note - it was alright but just a rehash of Empire Strikes Back with a bit of Return of the Jedi thrown in.}

4.) 10 Apr 2019 09:38:53
I would be intrested on your opinion of whether deadpool would fit in to the avengers films though Ed 😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - I think he and Black Widow would make a great team ;-)

5.) 10 Apr 2019 09:47:34
You can't be serious Ed001. Deadpool is just fine by himself and with the X-men. 😮.

{Ed001's Note - but it will happen, they did that remake of 2 to soften DP for later use in Avengers etc.}

6.) 10 Apr 2019 09:58:15
Harry IS the Man City page by the look of it. He’s having conversations with himself over there.

{Ed001's Note - no change from what he did on here then really.}

7.) 10 Apr 2019 11:39:51
Bang on ed01. The midfield is full of industrious, tenacious players with good ball control. They work SO hard. They can't all play every game.

3 months ago people were saying hendo was finished at liverpool but it looks like klopp has played it perfectly. Keeping him fit, hungry and raring to go for this most important part of the season.

Keita scoring two in a row is massive for him and us. I think we will start to see the keita of last season. Again, just at the right time.

We have an excellent manager.

8.) 10 Apr 2019 11:40:30
Wow. In all my born days I have never known any adult to ever change team. Poor lad. It’s like watching a lone zebra at giant watering hole over there.

9.) 10 Apr 2019 12:14:14
When i was ten and liverpool didn't win the league 91 i think. I decided i was going to support leeds. But it was nothing more than a macabre charade. It was like rebound sex, never that great and problems getting it up. It lasted 3 weeks.

How a grown man can swap teams is beyond me. Im not liverpool born, but they have always been my team and i love them as much as anybody. I have cried, smiled, kissed the tele (when gerrard scpred the 40 yard screamer in the fa cup final with west ham)

I would do anything for my partner, but i wouldn't miss a game. As much as she gets jealous and tries to start a row.

10.) 10 Apr 2019 12:27:12
I saw that with Harry, he's like the only one posting on the Man City page, what happened there?

11.) 10 Apr 2019 13:30:40
Gotta love Harry. He's still a red but appreciates good football, obviously City are a bigger better team and play better football. Harry loves Liverpool to much to switch teams.

12.) 10 Apr 2019 15:44:49
How can you claim to be a liverpool fan and then just switch to Man City, is it really Harry.

13.) 10 Apr 2019 16:07:42
Is his new username “ ‘Arry the Manc”? 😄

Great character 👍.

14.) 10 Apr 2019 18:38:04
Walter? Did you just actually write that ManC are a "bigger and better team" than LFC? I'm really curious to know the basis of such an opinion? History? Tradition? Titles and Cups won? Their players looks? What?

15.) 10 Apr 2019 20:12:38
ArAy I am not Harry. he's just my favourite poster on here.

16.) 10 Apr 2019 20:14:52
And yes I did say that because it's true. It's not that I want them to be. just a fact. look at league positions and trophies won to see the proof.

{Ed001's Note - you do realise Liverpool are above them and won more trophies than them right?}

17.) 10 Apr 2019 20:23:13
Lokos like Neg. Walter is just trying to whind people up so not to bothered. As for Harry, him being a City fan (after years of swallowing everything Chelsea had to offer) is the best kept secret in the world. However, I expect him to be back here saying, "I knew we could do it" if LFC win the PL/ CL or both.

18.) 10 Apr 2019 20:51:08
It'll take years and years for City to be the best in this league lol, they are nowhere near mate.

19.) 10 Apr 2019 21:05:32
It only takes 1 season to be the best in the League.

20.) 11 Apr 2019 00:52:50
Although Ed001 has replied more than adequately, I would suggest you check your "facts", Walter. Would help tremendously in your posts and how they're perceived, on here.

03 Apr 2019 08:55:02

Do you think Babel could do a job as a bac up winger for us? Could be a frugal solution if our priority is full backs and a replacement if Milner goes?

Shaq Attack

{Ed001's Note - nowhere near good enough. Love the guy but no sadly.}

1.) 03 Apr 2019 10:35:24
What does Babel have to do with Milner leaving?

2.) 03 Apr 2019 11:41:21
Thanks Ed.

If Milner leaves and our priority transfers are 2 full backs and a replacement for him that could be costly. So Babel was a cheap option because we clearly need a winger too.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

3.) 03 Apr 2019 13:06:48
Cheap options seem to rarely be Klopp’s deal. You could argue Shaqiri was bought opportunistically, and was perhaps a cheap option. Similarly, you could say Matip and Robertson were cheap options, but the squad situation at the time (both quickly became first-team starters) suggests Klopp didn’t see it that way.
Klavan is the only other ‘cheap back-up’ I can recall, and he was not much worse than the starting options.
‘Cheap options’ are rarely the way forward, and hardly ever make the squad better than it already is, something managers before Klopp didn’t seem to understand.

4.) 03 Apr 2019 13:16:28
Cheap options are the reasons we are waiting 29 years for a title.

5.) 03 Apr 2019 13:22:34
To be clear I’m suggesting a cheap option is the way forward but may be a necessity if our priorities are elsewhere.

6.) 03 Apr 2019 14:26:05
Verdo1. The Nail, on the Head.

9.) 03 Apr 2019 15:40:15
He was bloody good for fulham against us. I always loved him when at liverpool. But in those days i only watched highlights on motd.

He changed the game for fulham when he came on. I wouldn't be displeased if we signed him. That said origi is growing on me every week. A few months ago i laughed when people suggested he was better than Sturridge. Perhaps sturridge is the better technical player and if he was less injury prone i don't think there would be a debate, but origi is getting better and better. DS is getting worse. Origi is young and hungry while Sturridge has given up.

But between the 2 i don't think we need another striker in the summer.

Question: Sturridge or babel?

In a perfect world id sell sturridge amd by another striker. Who would people like us to replace DS if he is sold. I like mitrovic. I also like shurrle.

10.) 03 Apr 2019 16:12:33
In a perfect world I would Like Jimenez.

11.) 03 Apr 2019 21:24:16
Babel is old news and should stay that way. He is 32 and nowhere near good enuff to even make the bench. Ed01 has said that we are looking at a versatile forward that can play anywhere in the front three or at least in both wide areas and IMO, Julian Brandt is THAT guy.

14 Mar 2019 09:23:20
What a result!

In quarters of champs league for a second year running and well in the fight for our first league title with only 8 games to go. Irrespective of where we end up it’s huge progress and shows we’re on our way back to competing year on year.

Special mention for Fabinho and that tackle in the box when Coman was driving forward.

Up the red men!

1.) 14 Mar 2019 10:00:52
Gini had another game where his efforts often go unnoticed but his energy and ability to spot danger is first class, his ball control is great too. Shame about robbos ban as milner is excellent in European nights driving the midfield forward.

Gini broke up play, protected trent and rarely gave the ball away.

Has anything happened to martinez for stamping on his foot blatantly?

2.) 14 Mar 2019 18:22:31
Gini was awesome at Bayern last night. Really solid perf. from him. Gini has been a lot better away from home this season than in the past two seasons for us and long may it continue.

THanks for ending the discussion (a sure sign you lack the ability to continue the debate) .

In the 17/ 18 season Havertz managed 3 goals and 8 assists.

I’m not disputing that Havertz is a top talent, I’m just pointing out the fact the logic you’re using to dismiss Sancho’s talent, applies to Havertz too.

I was taking into account assists and general goal involvement in which Sancho just about pips it.

You’re still ignoring how much you’ve massively contradicted yourself though.

Sancho and Havertz have both had 1 good season in the bundesliga so why should we do everything we can to buy Havertz but Sancho is just decent?

First of all, Dembele flopped because of attitude and not quality.

Second of all, how can you in one breath dismiss the achievements of Sancho citing the bundesliga as not the highest quality and one season wonder to go off. When on another page you’re waxing lyrical about Kai Havertz who would be exactly the same as Sancho, only Havertz is older and involved in less goals?

Highly doubt it. We have 4 CBs and dont see him joining unless we lost at least one of them.

Would also be a huge kick in the stones for Gomez because way would Toby join for anything other than first choice alongside VVD.

I’d be disappointed if he goes because he’s apparently a talent. At the same time, he’s hardly been here for 5 minutes so is showing a severe lack of patience and fight to be honest. I’m confident if Klopp and co thought he was remotely close to being useful, he’d get an opportunity this year.

I think it’s far too early to say given its 3 years away as a lot can happen then.

For me Julian Nagelsmann has to be on the list. Possibly Pep Lijnders if the club think he’s ready.

{Ed047's Note - I think Brendan will be ready to come back home by then as Nagelsmann will be at Arsenal after Emery’s jogged off. 🤷‍♂️😉

I think you’ve jumped the gun here mate.

Defence transformed overnight? You were a post and a cross bar away from concedeing 2 goals against Chelsea.

AWB is a massive talent but Maguire is average to good at best (as is Lindelof) .

Pogba will hold back progress as long as he’s there and you don’t have a single CM of discernible quality to open up a defence.

The juries out on James at the moment, he could end up being class or another Zaha.

Rashford is a massive talent and I think can be your CF for the next decade but Martial is simply not good enough imo, he’s decent but not of the required standard to win or challenge for titles.

Added to that, your manager is OGS - enough said.

Shaq Attack

{Ed047's Note - did you see McGuire get turned inside out in the first few minutes by Jimenez.

That and Shaw getting roasted by of all people Traore.

Lingard, Pogba and McNobody - that midfield will strike fear into the heart of any team - in league One.

We all love our team but jeez! 🤷‍♂️

More importantly it was the 3rd game in a week we played (one going to 120 mins) whilst we’re still building up match sharpness.

Any win is a fantastic result.
