Man alive these pages are much quieter after a win!

Delighted for Jones to get the goal, easy to forget this is his first full season in prem, think he has a big future ahead of him.

Elliott looking special too, between these 2 and Trent there’s a nice young English group of players there.

Hopefully with Jota coming back we can start to kick on a bit now with more quad depth.

I don’t understand why people are focusing on the few good chances the Leipzig had.

It’s an elite level game where we’re missing our 3 best CB’s and it would near impossible to completely close out a team of that quality in the game.

We also had several other chances wheee we didn’t punish them.

We controlled a really tough away game extremely well.

Shaq Attack

1.) 17 Feb 2021 11:39:53
Shaq Attack, I am not sure people are focusing on that only, per se. I think it is right to point out the positives in the game as well as the negatives so as to keep things in perspective and remain humble cos like it or not, this is just one win out of the last 4, I think.

What I do agree with is that parts of the performance have been following a trend of us playing well for the most part of late BUT getting done by individual errors. That did not happen yesterday and in fact, we got to punish the opponent for the mistakes they made that we forced thru our hard work on and off the ball. Just my take.

2.) 18 Feb 2021 14:47:07
Shaq - I'm with you, I think it's petty to pick out a shot on target as a negative. It's football and there are two teams playing afterall.

But the circumstances for those chances are important to note I rekon. Couple times Hendo gets caught out with those runs behind and in the channels. I think it's a natural flaw given his a midfielder as he is tracking runs from a different position or trying to jump a pass and then getting exposed by the attackers movement.

Just seen a stat that we’ve conceded 23 goals in 20 PL games this season.

When you consider that 7 of those came against Villa, that’s not a half bad defensive record with the injuries we’ve had!

Shaq Attack

1.) 30 Jan 2021 08:28:24
Not bad when you consider it’s midfielders in defence.

2.) 30 Jan 2021 08:38:25
Totally. Even more impressive is just ten conceded in 15 league matches since either van Dijk or Gomez were last on the pitch.

3.) 30 Jan 2021 08:44:07
If we had played a higher line regularly like we used to with VVD and Gomez, we would have definitely conceded more. I feel we have compromised on attack by making sure our fullbacks are not as advanced as they are normally. But again, this was unavoidable. Let's just hope we get a CB in during this window. Fingers crossed!

4.) 30 Jan 2021 10:10:38
In fairness it’s hard for the opposition to score against us when all 11 of their players are camped in and around their box. It’s also proven to be more difficult for us to score. Miss the days where both teams played to win and not set up for a draw. Probably the only sport in the world where the full preparation leading up to the match is to aim for a draw as a successful outcome.

5.) 30 Jan 2021 11:33:48
The problem is the effect it has on us scoring. We loose a midfielder so it effects our midfield.
Of course robbo and TAA can't bomb forwards as they are cautious.
So therr is an overall impact when you can't trust the defense and have ro protect them.

6.) 30 Jan 2021 13:42:07
Teams don’t even bother to attack as a tactic so the stat is a bit skewed, IMO.

7.) 30 Jan 2021 14:07:53
Except we’re the top scoring team in the league and have the top individual goal scorer as well.

I don’t understand why people are so reluctant to conclude that our recent goal scoring problems were down to our attacking players not being on their game.

If Salah, Firmino, Mane and Trent can only deliver when Fabinho is in midfield, they’re not the players we thought (and how did they manage before, and now after, those four or five problematic matches? )

I’ve seen some posts below declaring love for Danny Agger.

Before anyone jumps on my back, I was a massive fan of Danny Agger.

I just think it’s interesting that the likes of Matip, the Ox etc are “made of glass”. But Danny Agger is remembered so fondly.

He, just like Matip and the Ox aren’t intentionally injured on a regular basis.

Just saying we should maybe show the same level of support to our current crop?

Shaq Attack

1.) 12 Jan 2021 17:03:56
Fair and valid point. I think its because agger was a proper important 1st team player whereas ox and matip are not automatic selections in our first 11. Anyways you're only really loved when you're gone.

2.) 12 Jan 2021 17:05:10
Also. Agger showed real love for the club.

3.) 12 Jan 2021 17:30:41
The lad loved the club shaq and I do get what your saying he was made of glass I think it’s just his love for the Club that the reds excepted his injuries 🤷🏻‍♂️.

4.) 12 Jan 2021 17:34:23
Dejan Lovren also showed real love for the club and he was constantly abused by Liverpool supporters. If Dan Agger was a Liverpool player today many people on here would want him sold or want his 'contract torn up'. Football supporters demand 100% loyalty from players but give none back in return.

5.) 12 Jan 2021 18:38:21
Jay Dub would be one of them Thunderbird. The guy who wanted to send Taki back.

6.) 12 Jan 2021 18:55:16
Have a feeling u fancy me at this stage j6!
And I nvr said a bad word about dejan thought he was a great character!
I don’t rate taki just like your buddie Keita and what?

7.) 12 Jan 2021 19:35:20
On a brighter note, back in 2012, reds v Southampton, I was fortunate enough present Danny Agger Man of the Match trophy, he’s a really too bloke, spoke to him after.

Not trying to be a big head here chaps, it just came into my head after reading this post.

8.) 12 Jan 2021 19:48:57
Great post that Shaq. It really grates on me when people criticise players for getting injured. It’s part of the game and I for one appreciate them putting their bodies on the line for Liverpool Football Club (and their enormous wages of course 😉) .

9.) 12 Jan 2021 20:14:54
Ha ha! In ya dreams Jay! Lol. As I said, constant negativity mate.

10.) 12 Jan 2021 20:16:53
My only problem with lovren was his shaky defending and wsnt to try and give a penalty away every game.

11.) 12 Jan 2021 20:26:24
Personally, I love all our players, worts and all provided they gave their all for the cause and the shirt. Agger (a truly graceful footballer) was injury prone but played many a blinder for us. His body just gave out. Is that his fault now?

Lovren was prone to mistakes and rushes of blood to the brain BUT his raw ability as a CB (if he was that bad Klopp would never have kept him that long) and his journey from bring a refugee to becoming an accomplished CB played in CL, WC final as well as a CL and PL winner is testament to his heart and will to win. He is one that I really admire and respect for his life off the field than on it.

Same with Ox, Matip, Klavan, Can, Migs, Lallana or even Moreno and Karius and all other who who gave their all got the shirt and helped us along the way have my total respect and gratitude for their contributions to our success. They all played good games for us when we needed them and that is to their credit, IMO. I wish more fans would just be thankful for their services instead of digging players out cos they did not achieve this, that or the other. Life doesn’t work that way.

12.) 12 Jan 2021 20:32:33
I nvr said anything negative in those posts J6! Think you’ve a soft spot for me!

13.) 12 Jan 2021 20:51:35
Agger played a hell of a lot more than matip, can’t even believe you made that comparison! Agger turned Barcelona down to stay with us, not many players would even consider doing that.

14.) 12 Jan 2021 21:00:12
My heart is fluttering Jay lol.

15.) 12 Jan 2021 21:26:09
Pegleg, Agger averaged around 28 games per season for Liverpool, Matip is averaging around 27 games per season for Liverpool. The comparison is appropriate.

16.) 12 Jan 2021 22:47:45
I’d still have a fit agger over a fit matip.

17.) 12 Jan 2021 23:29:03
Red scar face how can you say Matip not a first choice? Klopp put him right back anytime he been out injured. Love him think klopp does too.

Anyone seen young Harvey Elliott’s goal against Milwall last night? Absolute pearler.

Massive talent there and Salah’s long term replacement perhaps.

Shaq Attack

1.) 03 Dec 2020 18:54:50
Been hearing nothing but good things about the kid, hope it really works out for him and the rest.

2.) 04 Dec 2020 11:36:10
Not got the pace to replace Salah, he doesn't look a winger to me, an advanced centre mid would be a better position for him, like his potential alot.

Not sure how a 5ft 11 CB gets on in the premier league personally.

I’m sure his natural position is holding mid?

I’d be extremely underwhelmed by that signing personally.

My mate who’s a Chelsea fan thinks Mount is their brightest homegrown prospect.

Outstanding player? No, but a very good one who pops up with goals, think people forget he’s still so young with just 18 months of prem experience.

If you can’t see how IB’s message is disrespectful to a great servant like Milner, then I can’t be bothered to even debate with you pegleg.

Bang out of order to include Milner on that list IB. His contract is up this summer so you’ll get your wish.

{Ed001's Note - he is contracted until summer 2022.}

Sometimes you have to create you’re own luck Langland mate. It’s not as though he slipped with nobody around him. He was being hounded by Mane and knew if he messed up it would likely end in a goal.

Harsh 66, he’s 20 which is an absolute baby at CB. He’s also played 2 games in a low form/ confidence team and been thrown straight in when much more experienced players like Fab had the luxury of a 6 month induction.

Building a mean defence? At what bloody cost?!

Laporte - 60mil
Stones - 50mil
Mendy - 50mil
Cancelo - 50mil
Walker 50mil
Ederson 35mil
Dias 60mil

Just a cool 355mil spent in his time there. Yes mate, he doesn’t deserve enough credit for that 🤔.

It worked perfectly fine against Spurs and West Ham Mark. The Brighton game was just one too many in a week for an unchanged midfield IMO.

You can’t ignore injuries to important squad players like Jota. It means we have no alternatives to our out of form front 3.

That was the third game in a week that the same midfield started and I think it showed, they didn’t anywhere near the same energy as usual.

You also have to count Hendo as an absence JK23 because he’s not playing in midfield, that’s a huge loss whichever way you look at it.
