Jota has certainly come out of nowhere.

I’m still relatively dubious until the oracle that Ed2 says we’re in talks though!

If true a fantastic signing who can play a number of attacking positions and provide good cover for all without a huge drop in quality.

Perhaps most surprising about him is that he is only 23 so can get a lot better and has 2/ 3 years experience in the prem. could be a long term replacement for Mane in my opinion.

Shaq Attack

{Ed001's Note - it has not come from nowhere, it was all over the Wolves site yesterday, I assumed it was common knowledge. He was sent home from the ground yesterday after being told he would not be playing last night because while talks were ongoing with Liverpool. I never thought to check and see if the news had reached here as well as the Wolves site.}

1.) 18 Sep 2020 19:29:07
Over the moon Ed1.

Fair enough if it was all over the wolves page yday. Nevertheless, absolutely no chat of this anywhere in media or elsewhere prior to yesterday right?

What are your thoughts on him as a buy? Smart Business for me and massively strengthens our depth.

{Ed001's Note - good player, I am happy with him.}

2.) 18 Sep 2020 21:49:30
Ed01, come on. You got to fill us in with this stuff esp. those of us who are never on other clubs' pages like me.

{Ed001's Note - sorry I was distracted trying to get the Adu article finished so never thought. It is like this Kabak or Kaban or whatever is name is that we are trying to bring in. I assume it is common knowledge? Just in case, I have never seen him play so can't comment on that, but he is just a youngster, 1 Turkey cap, 20, plays for Schalke and his hero is Virgil. Worryingly the Bundesliga official site has claimed that he plays a bit like Sergio Ramos, hopefully that won't mean he will attack Salah in training each week.}

Wow, anyone would think we’d romped the league and won the title for the first time in 30 years on these pages 😂 it’s not like we won the champions league last season either 😂

Anyone seen Brewster’s goal last night for Swansea? Good finish. Really excited for this lad and think a full year on loan there again will see him ready to challenge in our squad the year after.

Sack Klopp. Swap VVD for David Luiz. Sell Becker and get Karius back in.

It’s clear and understandable after an incredible two years of relentless perfomances we have stepped off the gas and our game works on 100% intensity. Just a few % off our A game and we will struggle.

I’m sure after the celebrations Klopp will focus us again. Actually it’s a good thing we have dropped off now as imagine if we had no break in that intensity and had to go three seasons straight.

Already looking forward to next year. Going to be tougher but bring it on.

2.) 16 Jul 2020 08:56:26
We only lost because of consecutive mistakes which would not have been made earlier in the campaign, I just think we’ve lost a little bit of focus. Which is natural given that we won the league with room to spare. As for Brewster, another good goal for the lad. He’s looking more and more like he could be the real deal.

{Ed001's Note - Arsenal didn't make a single chance for themselves until right near the end when we were pushing for an equaliser and leaving gaps. We created plenty of chances, we were just sloppy because the season is over for us and it is difficult to focus when you are done. I don't get why Liverpool fans are so upset. If I was an Arsenal fan I would be terrified after watching their team get destroyed by an opponent that was on the beach mentally. They look worse under Arteta than ever. They were utterly hopeless and just got one of those days when everything falls right for them, even that block by Firmino hitting the post and bouncing out.}

3.) 16 Jul 2020 09:53:23
perfectly summed up Ed001!

{Ed001's Note - I really don't get why people are so upset. We should be celebrating the title at every game right now. Forget what happens on the pitch until next season, let's just thank these players for bringing the title back to Anfield after 30 years!}

4.) 16 Jul 2020 10:17:40
City only reached 100 points last season because we pushed them every step of the way. It is much more difficult to keep the intensity and motivation in a one-horse race. Just enjoy the presentation next week and anyone slagging off the lads should have a word with themselves. I don’t mean you SupaReds, I just happened to tag onto your post to comment.

5.) 16 Jul 2020 10:43:01
Do you worry the form will carry in to next season ed? Especially with not much of a break between seasons this year. Or will it be business as usual when we go again you think?

{Ed001's Note - it will be a fresh start, with the poor performances at the end of the season as a stick for Klopp to use to get them going, if anything.}

6.) 16 Jul 2020 10:50:14
Agreed ed1 and to be honest mate I'm looking at the rest of the season purely as fitness for the lads. People forget they were out for months, the vast majority of this season we have dominated, that's enough for me but some people tend to forget that. We have nothing left to prove, let's just enjoy it.

We ARE the champions, I'll keep on cloud nine :) . A loss last night doesn't change that, how many teams would love to have the players we have? Would love to have klopp? And the owners who have done nothing but support us and got us what we've all been waiting for. A few mistakes means bugger all. If they didn't make mistakes then they aren't human.

Be happy doom and gloomers, we're in a fantastic place as a club right now, let's look forward to Chelsea and show our support.

{Ed001's Note - win, lose or draw, it is just a game now until the end of the season. We have a chance to enjoy them with nothing riding on them. No one has ever had this many games to just play after winning the title in England before, we should be enjoying it.}

7.) 16 Jul 2020 11:05:23
Couldn’t agree more Ed001. We played well generally, but as you say, we’re on the beach mentally as we’ve won the race and I think we’ve eased off the throttle. Can’t blame them really. I’m confident if that was first game of the season we’d have been comfortable winners. These boys have brought back the title so deserve a bit of slack!

{Ed001's Note - exactly. We really can't criticise Alisson and Virgil after the way they have performed! We should really just be thankful they are getting their mistakes in now while it doesn't matter.}

8.) 16 Jul 2020 11:35:58
I think your spot on ed001, I was reading comments online about arsenal fans loving the performance when they only had two shots which where pretty much open nets and then decided to park the bus foul and get their players to dive at every occasion, it was more of a mourinho performance than anything else. It showed arsenal are no longer a team who can play football to win games they have to cheat to do it, they have become everything they hated under arteta.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think they did try to park the bus, they were just abysmal, as they have been consistently under Arteta.}

9.) 16 Jul 2020 11:48:00
Yeah suppose you could say this forms part of our preseason in a way. Hopefully you're right ed.

10.) 16 Jul 2020 13:04:08
Ederson getting chipped from 40 yards against Southampton was a worse mistake in my opinion. Sure Klopp would have given them the hairdryer treatment in any case, Alisson and Virg have been top notch all season when it mattered so they’re entitled to a bad day at the office.

11.) 16 Jul 2020 13:04:32
Redmersey don't worry I'm sure posters will realise I was parodying the predictable doom merchants after we lost one game even though we are champions by miles :)

12.) 16 Jul 2020 13:21:11
Ed, I agree 100% on your assessment of Arsenal. City will absolutely crush them this weekend.

13.) 16 Jul 2020 13:18:26
Spot on Ed001, It was such an odd game as Arsenal were awful yet ended up winning. Not one of my Gooner friends have been on my back about the game, so that sums it up for me. They are a really poor side and if Ed 002 has it right they are not in position to buy their way out of the mess they are currently in. As for us, we are defiantly half way to the beach right now and why not, we're already champions. keep on saying it, champions. roll on next season now :-)

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate. Enjoy being champions as it only lasts until the season ends and then we are just another challenger.}

14.) 16 Jul 2020 20:39:03
I missed the first half. But what I saw in the second half was us completely dominant. The goals wouldn't come though. It happens, especially when we don't need the win.

15 Jul 2020 06:54:34
Morning ed2,

Hope you’re keeping well mate.

I know you raise our HG issue when considering targets. I just wondered if you could share any other Prem teams who are facing a similar issue?

Thanks in advance!

Shaq Attack

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City.}

06 Jul 2020 19:56:39
Did anyone else put the match on last night and wondered when we’d re-signed Djibril Cisse?!

Shaq Attack

{Ed001's Note - that was my first thought as well!}

1.) 06 Jul 2020 21:32:34
Let’s be honest though once the match started did anyone actually see Origi. Bobby creates space and Origi seems to take up space and get in the way. It’s a shame really as last season he had some big moments but for me he’s gone backwards this season instead of pushing on.

2.) 06 Jul 2020 21:50:24
Origi taking up space is exactly why Bobbie will always play. Origi cannot do what Bobbie does that is, draw players out of position to create space for Salah and Mane to occupy and do damage, as we saw vs Villa when Bobbie came on and the gaps suddenly started to open.

3.) 06 Jul 2020 22:38:23
Origi is fine as an impact sub. He’s big and Direct and good in the air. Perfect for the last 15. But when he starts in the line up, you notice a massive drop in quality and he cannot function in the team.
This is where we need that better player, sadly we can’t afford anyone atm.

4.) 07 Jul 2020 00:10:48
Origi is a differnet player to bobby. and we should adjust accordingly when he is starting or use him in conjunction with bobby or with Taki.

5.) 07 Jul 2020 06:24:57
We don't need to afford anyone, we just need to move Origi on and bring Brewster back to be the 4th choice forward.

6.) 07 Jul 2020 08:52:19
Why do we need to move Origi on?
Liverpool’s starting XI weren’t disastrous or anything, but give credit to Villa.
They were well organised and carried a threat at times themselves.
The game at theirs was hard work too, if you recall?
We moved the ball around ok, I thought Keita was fine, and Villa were knackered late on.
The substitutions were perfect, that mixture of added energy and guile, and at the right time that Villa were tiring.
A good squad win that.

7.) 07 Jul 2020 09:37:58
I’m all for giving Brewster a go as I think he has potential but he doesn’t have the movement of Bobby yet. Maybe training day in day out he could develop it tho.

8.) 07 Jul 2020 11:17:34
Couldn't think of anything worse for Breqster than bringing him back to train and sit on the bench.

9.) 07 Jul 2020 12:44:54
Still much better movement than Origi though, and would fancy him to put a chance away much more than Origi aswell.

10.) 07 Jul 2020 13:18:59
Brilliant response there, Juicer. Villa were very well organized and constricted the spaces to make sure no gaps were open regardless of how much we moved them around.

Sometimes, I think we should start giving credit to the other teams as well cos they have good coaches on the other side and good players who get paid to do a job as well. These things happen or do we rather want to become City who huff and puff and still get beat by these same parked buses.

Origi is ineffective out wide and if he does not get the service he needs when playing centrally (where he is more effective as we have seen countless times) then that is the manager's fault for not putting him in a position to succeed. If you are going to play the kid or Mino or Brewster or any other CF, play to their strengths and quit blaming the player for not passing the ball to himself and scoring.

I’m sure it won’t happen but a decent shout would Lloyd Kelly at Bournemouth.

Is young, can play LB and LCB, wouldn’t cost the earth and I’m sure we looked at him when he was at Bristol City.

Shaq Attack

1.) 04 Jul 2020 16:58:16
Seeing it floated quite a bit lately, people are suggesting he could be another player like Robbo that doesn't look that special at Hull but Klopp is able work some magic on him. Idk, haven't seen him play.

But didn't we look at him last season and then back out? And he's spent most of this season injured. Surely if we thought he was right for us we'd have gone for him 12 months ago?

Also not 100% sure about him not costing the earth. Bournemouth paid £13m for him and if relegated there'll probably a few clubs sniffing around Ake, King, Callum Wilson etc. which could potentially remove their need to sell Kelly to balance the books in the Championship. They'll surely look to get more what they paid.

2.) 04 Jul 2020 21:47:17
Exactly, SR. I don't recall ever seeing the kid play at all this season and I have watched a decent amount of B'mouth games this season.

{Ed001's Note - he has been injured.}

It’s not shrewd when we have no money to buy another winger who will hardly play, sorry.

We also have Harvey Elliott who is a huge talent and should not be forgotten. If we have both and Jota, where exactly does Elliott figure?

If we have 40mil to spend, a forth CB makes much more sense in terms of squad depth.

Seems a ridiculous waste of 40mil now we’ve bought Jota.

We haven’t approached Bayern because we don’t have the cash.

When/ if we do, I imagine we will then have a chat, that goes for all signings.

Ffs, why do people find information so hard to understand?

Sadio did not approach Barcelona off his own back, they approached his agent about a possible move. His agent has had a discussion about what a contract could look like.

Remove from the equation the fact that you (a fan) adore LFC. To most footballers, a club is a job with an employer.

If you were in your current job with a really good company, and then another huge company with a huge history approached you about working for them (sure they might be going through a rough patch, but they’re still a huge name in the industry) .

Most people would at least entertain a conversation about what a move might look like. After all there’s nothing lost in a chat. It’s an interesting opportunity, tempting even, but doesn’t mean you’re going to follow through and move company.

This is also incredibly hypocritical that you want him out of the club for considering a move hailstones. So many on here are saying that they want to replace Gini with Thiago.

Whether or not Thiago is an improvement is irrelevant, we can’t ask for undying loyalty from our players when we don’t give the same in return.

You need to stop talking absolute nonsense.

Allison missed that stretch of about 7 league games because of an injury that occurred in a game.

Despite playing around 7 games less than a full season, still managed to be within 2 clean sheets of equalling Ederson and 1 off Nick Pope who had the most clean sheets.

Well you can’t change a rule mod season as that would be massively unfair on the teams that have fallen foul of the current rule.

I think Arteta style of football seems very anti-arsenal and they’ve been happy to park the bus against us.

Their result late last season was an incredibly lucky. They only had a couple of goal opportunities (which we gifted to them) and we were already on holiday at that point and still bossed it.

That valuation right there Robbie is why we haven’t sold him yet.

We paid 4mil about 3/ 4 years ago and he’s hardly enhanced his reputation since then has he?

Recoup our 4mil and send him on his way it what I say.

You get abuse because you are so disrespectful to an LFC player Harry.

There are many of us who accept we’ve beyond Divock, but you can keep it classy when saying so. Also comparing him to David Ngog is a astounding exaggeration mate.

He’s been a decent servant to the club, scored some important goals and never complained. But yes, it’s time for him to move on.
