Anyway, on Yoro. This kid ain't on the level of Yamal, well not may 17-18 year olds are. If the rumoured wage is to be true, he is not worth it imo. So we move on and let another club pay over the odds and nurture him, prior to his move to Madrid in a couple of years time. Assuming he doesn't flop.

Transfers take time and patience and have factors other than finances, so be patient.

Bejesus the trolls are out in force, have the schools and that finished for summer or something haha.

I hope you're ready for the storm Ed's. I hope you fortune in the battle to come, may the gods be with you. See you on the otherside ?.

Missed your post when we signed Ryan Gravenberch £120k per week. Generational talent ????.

Have to agree I’m disappointed we didn’t get the lad because he is very highly rated but it does appear that both Liverpool and Madrid had a price they felt they were willing to pay and Utd paid far in excess of that…and to be fair we can’t argue with that. For years we have been lauded as being astute in the transfer market while we mocked Utd for paying extortionate fees and high wages to players undeserving! At the rumoured fee we could buy a ready made starter for the team and not a teen who has and will continue to have goo goo eyes for Madrid. Not quiet dodged bullet but perhaps a smart business decision.

Tbh if he turns out as good as Saliba or better then United have definitely not paid over the odds for him. Could have been a great signing to spend a year or two learning from Virg and then replacing him but time will tell. United have turned into a graveyard for players over the last few years so the kid is brave to go there. We will soon see how good he is.

They were always going to spend the most money in the world this window after the take over
All we can hope is we strengthen a little too so they don’t close the gap.

Agree could have been a good signing but if we have a limited budget we have to prioritise and it’s a big chunk of change for potential, only one real year under his belt and could end up never reaching the expected heights which is far more likely at Utd, in all reality if both Liverpool and Madrid felt it was unwise to invest to much than id probably side with there decision than Utds given all parties recent recruitment history. Again not raining on the lads parade he could turn out to be world class and we could be sitting here in 5 years thinking about what could have been but I can understand the clubs logic.

Jaguar, "generational talent" is the new buzzword for wonderkid. Many of them have fell by the way side. As Gravenberch, you're talking about an older player with a lot more experience.

Dow-ney, exactly my thoughts on the matter. Why break the model, unless its for someone that is exceptional.

Brummyred, that's all good if that does happen. Doesn't hide the fact he could easily turn into another Kurt Zouma for all we know. Plus he will be yearning for Madrid.

Aye LFC8, let them. We will still finish above them ?.

Not sure what Gravenberch has anything to do with Yoro but sure, you just do you.

As for Yoro, I think we have to admit that Utd are getting a decent youngster who does seem to have a high ceiling. If he had signed for us, I would expect most of us to be satisfied with the transfer. How he develops is still up in the air since he can either go on to be a huge success or a huge flop. Ed001 gave quite a good brief review of Yoro on the Utd page which I suggest most of us read.

Utd has made some good strides since Ineos came in and I have to admit that I am a bit wary of them now. They aren't the same as they were when the Glazers were fully in-charge.

We haven’t had a big net spend for, well, I’ve lost count. Sooner or later it will catch up to us and I worry, without Klopp working wonders, if we’ll start to see our premier league position line up with were we stand in the spending league.

People always complaining about not spending enough. People do realise it's not possible to just pump money in whether fsg wants to or not.

We need to generate more money to spend more money. The days of sugar daddies throwing money in is gone.

Why is this idiot talking about Gravenberch on a thread about Yoro?

@Thunderbird, don’t forget the overuse of laughing emojis, as if that really drives home his point and makes the other person look like an idiot. The irony.

In fairness doubt majority of posters have watched much of him - but from the hype and what ed said (plus fact real and ourselves along with a suite of others wanted him) presume is a talent. If anything the obsession with what United are doing seems to come a bit from jealousy.

Apart from fact has a cool name dunno much about zirkzee - but again was coveted and from my understanding is similar to firmino in pressing / defence form the front and Ugarte again seems to make sense as a signing. They may be paying over the odds for them but that is what a club in their position competitively would have to do. If they add brainthwaite again that for me would be a very good signing.

Don’t think Yoro is a a much as a gamble in either A) lives up to hype and they double there spend selling to real b) again lives up to hype and enjoys Manchester becoming a lonnnng term CB or C) doesn’t live up to hype and either way at least get half the fee just from being a PL CB…. plenty of daft fees for average players, hell arsenal bought a striker for £45 who proved he couldn’t score in a dominant Manchester City team.

Because Thunderbird, he’s the same idiot who 4 years ago talked about Darwin like he was the next generational talent. Words to the effect of how we simply HAVE to sign him. Now he’s here, he slags him off and mocks him.

The player is said to have told us that he only wanted to go to Madrid and given our experience with Bellingham, Tchouameni and Rodrygo, it was sensible to walk away as there’s no point pursuing a deal where it appears the player has zero interest in playing for us. United have paid well over the odds and offered stupid wages to a kid to make this happen, I’d also expect that the club (Lille) pressured him into accepting it as their league is on the brink of financial collapse (a result of playing thrall to the Qatari’s I’d like to add), so they’re desperate for the stupid money that United are offering. Either way, not sure how we can criticise Hughes, the club or anyone at FSG for this as you can only go on previous experience, which in these cases have never went our way.

Jaguar, I don't remember anybody on here calling Gravenberch a generational talent. In fact myself, Ed001 and a plethora of other posters all expressed concerns with many saying we should avoid him. I believe my exact words were "the Dutch Jack Wilshere" due his excessive hype and heavy touch.

Once he signed, everybody came together to back him and give him a chance to prove us wrong, but I honestly don't remember even one poster on here talking him up as a generational talent before or after he signed. Use as many laughing emoji's as you want, but you can't will something you made up into being true.

I personally see Gravenberch as the new keita, shows sparks but quite simply doesn't do enough! Would rather have chucked the mills onto the academy to develop our own youngsters!
Maybe he'll grow into it, he did have some better performances towards the end of the season.
