Which players (when fit and on form) from our current squad make Klopp’s title-winning team?

Maybe Szlob for Wijnaldum/Milner? Isak or Eki for Bobby? Sacrilege, I know, but Bobby would sometimes frustrate in the bigger games.

He was a number 10 playing as a false nine, so wasn’t always the goal scorer we needed at the end of all our great moves.

But Bobby competing with Isak or Eki for that role would work for me.

None, I would say. No way would I swap Bobby for Isak or Ekitike, simply because the way he played was instrumental in how we operated with Mo & Mane. Isak might have got more goals, but you'd lose the link up play & lose something from Mo & Mane.


The midfield engine room, you could possibly swap Gini or Millie for Dom, but I think that midfield balance was perfect for allowing the freedom of attackers & also the full backs to bomb forward.

Age and manager are relevant, so 2025 Virg wouldn't get in ahead of 2020 Virg.

I could potentially see Wirtz in the midfield, or Dom, but that's about it.

2019-20 was JoGo's best season for us, Trent and Robbo were unstoppable and the front 3 were just sublime. If only we'd bought a CB or two, we could have made a decent fist of the following season.

MS, we're going to give you a pass on this one. I'll file the Bobby comment where it belongs for you. Wirtz? No chance. 3/10 for his season, so he gets nowhere close. Dom, no chance. Too soft defensively.

What? Bobby with Mo and Mane was the perfect trio. Replacing him with individual guys like Ekitike and Isak totally disrupts their chemistry.

Game of opinions, but am stumped by this one!

Not directly LFC related, but with the situation between Maresca, Chelsea and City, and compensation to be paid out for a sacked manager, might it be plausable that Alonso had a similar clause in his contract, one which didn't feel financially viable to us, but Chelsea weren't bothered about?

I think it's simpler than that as regards to Alonso, Lofty.

FSG did not want him, and passed; Chelsea swooped in, named him manager, and has given him total control.

Richard Hughes went for a man who suits the FSG model down to the ground.

All Iraola wants to do is coach; he has no interest whatsoever in transfers. Basically, he deals with the cards he is dealt.

Did you hear him mention Bournemouth's completely brand new back 4 last season? Me neither.

Kingknny makes a good point, Iraola fits the current framework, but I don't believe he was FSG's preference.

Very different situation. Maresca walked away. I believe the issue is that Chelsea are accusing City of tapping him up. I can't see a clause where Real prevents Alonso from joining another club outside of Spain unless they're in direct competition in the Champions League at the time; there's no way a clause like that could be upheld, especially beyond the end of the season.

We could have easily told Xabi we'd make a move for him come June if we wanted him.

Didn't Maresca inform Chelsea he had been approached about replacing Pep, and he was interested. Sure, I read that's why compensation has to be paid despite him quitting.
