Any substantial interest in Ruben Neves? Or just lazy linking?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - As a Fabinho replacement? I would doubt it.}

I still can't believe Woodburn is still only 20 seems to of been around for Ages, what do you think was the issue for him in being able to step up? at 17 he looked like he was going to be a top player.

do you think another season on loan at Oxford would be a good move?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It makes sense - he won't get a chance at Liverpool.}

14 Jun 2020 14:47:32
Would be a good loan move, Karl Robinson has a good track record with developing young players.

Still think Woodburn can be a Premier League player. i can remember him taking stick on here for failing to establish himself at Sheff Utd at 18 years of age. People asked how he couldn't get in at a club tipped to be relegated straight back to league 1.two years later Sheffield are on the verge of the Champions League. Then he went to Oxford and was doing very well till he got injured, he shouldn't be written off yet.

I think the fact he’s working with a manager who trusts him and is both a Liverpool supporter and worked at Liverpool helps him, he’ll want Woodburn to succeed and help him make it here.

I just don't think he's good enough sadly. I've personally never seen him have a great game. I hope he succeeds somewhere but he has no realistic chance at liverpool.

Must be a tough for a young mad to be thrown into the limelight at such an age even to make his debut for Wales, it would be tough for him to not think he had "made it".

Hopefully he can knuckle down and stay free of injury as there is a player there for sure.

I did at one stage think wilson and woodburn would be part of the LFC future.

Hello Eds. You've mentioned the quota for non "home grown" players in a few posts recently and it becoming a difficulty for Liverpool. Can you explain the rule and Liverpool's current position in relation to it please?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The 25 man squad can contain a maximum of 17 non Home Grown players over 21 in it. Liverpool is up to the limit if you consider the likes of Karius and Grujic returning - so players need to be sold or loaned out before others can be added. Alexander-Arnold adds a complexity as he will be taking up a full squad place for the first time next season as well - but he can take the place of Clyne. Right now Liverpool has the following non HG players in the squad:
Adrian
Alisson
Fabinho
Firmino
Grujic
Karius
Keita
Lovren
Mane
Matip
Minimino
Origi
Robertson
Salah
Shaqiri
Van Dijk
Wijnaldum}

Out of that list I can see maybe 5 of them sold or loaned out. If we can get a deal on Coutinho I'd take him back as I think he will want to prove his worth.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Which five?}

14 Jun 2020 10:17:08
Coutinho made his bed and he can lie in it. We’ve gone on to win the Champions League and Premier League without him.

Morning eds2.
Have we received all the money owed to us from Barcelona for coutinho?
Thanks.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The final payment that Liverpool will get arrives this month.}

14 Jun 2020 11:37:01
Ed002, I think the following could be sold, loaned or free to leave,

Adrian
Grujic
Karius
Lovren
Origi
Shaqiri.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The club want Adrian to stay. There is not guarantee that Grujic will get a WP and the club will be open to sell and talks have already happened between his agent and Lazio. The club will look to sell Karius. The chance to sell Lovren has diminished in the last 10 days. There have been no efforts to sell Origi. Liverpool had the opportunity to use Shaqiri in a part exchange deal plus money - but that is on the back burner for now.}

14 Jun 2020 11:59:14
Can liverpool just not register a player in their squad if they don't want to? So they wouldn't take a non hg place?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Sure - but why would they do that as they would be paying a player who would be unable to play?}

14 Jun 2020 11:50:32
Morning ed, Karius I doubt very much will take up a place in the squad next season. Shaqiri will be sold and maybe Lovren. This will allow us to make a couple of purchases if funds allow.

I dis not know that Scots were not home grown. I know they have their own league, but assumes we were all one nation so all home grown. What about the Welsh? Would be hard if Cardiff or Swansea had to have all Welsh players for their home grown quota 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is The FA of England and Wales. Scotland have their own FA.}

15 Jun 2020 11:32:46
Would the ruling on extra subs get passed and continue into next season would there be an option to extend a squad size by a couple of spaces to accommodate?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The ruling right now only relates to this season and why would the squad size need to increase?}

14 Jun 2020 08:07:19
Hey edd02, seeing a few rumours about coutinho again, do you think a loan could be possible? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Kia has said that he would like to return to Liverpool. I have explained that he would have been discussed but right now I think it unlikely unless a cheap loan would be possible. Liverpool also has an issue with non-HG squad places so it would take some shuffling around.}

Cheers edd.

If there’s any money to spend, we’d be better finding someone better than Coutinho. His time at the club has been and gone.

Hi Eds

I have read rumours of Coutinho pleading to Klopp, is there any truth in this? Would Kopp consider bringing him back?

Also would really like to know your opinions on the current crop of youngsters. Is there much if a future for them in the Red shirt?

Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know about pleading but Kia has said that he would like to return to Liverpool. I have explained that he would have been discussed but right now I think it unlikely unless a cheap loan would be possible. Liverpool also has an issue with non-HG squad places so it would take some shuffling around. As for the youngsters, some will have a future (Jones and Elliott are clearly well placed) but others will fall by the wayside as they do at all clubs.}

Morning ed2,

Do you see much of the u23? if so Jones, Elliot and Williams aside, who do you see making the step up?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't but asked someone who knows them well - Elliott is more difficult because of his age and the need for schooling still - and that is true for all under 18s. Williams will provide cover for Alexander Arnold - Jones will be integrated. Christie-Davis was included in the first team squad this season but will have to be sold or loaned out again because of his age.}

Thanks ed.

I can see Cain and Clarkson both stepping up this year integrating more into the first team squad next season.

It seems as though the club have high hopes for Larouci over Lewis right now.

would expect to see lewis out on loan and larouci as backup with gomez and milner.

i would imagine we will see a shuffle around in the U23's as a number of players will need to look to move to get their career going e. g. Christie Davis, Gallagher, Coyle, Millar etc.

I am expecting the move of Lewtas into the U23's manager role be good for the transition of the U18's crop.
