I've been a long-time reader but rarely post. After today, though, I wanted to share my perspective.

The club seems to have failed to create a joined-up vision for how we want to play. The summer signings are good players, but they don't appear suited to how Slot wants his team to play.

Personally, I don't understand why a side that was performing so well needed such a significant overhaul in either players or tactics. It felt like it only needed a couple of additions and a couple of departures.

Instead, Slot has been left with a poorly balanced squad that is lacking in key areas.

The Jota tragedy will have been difficult for both the players and the club, and that shouldn't be overlooked.

Ultimately, though, people have to be judged on their specific responsibilities.

Slot needs to motivate the players and find a system that works with what he has. I also believe he should help shape the club's overarching strategy — and in that regard, he has fallen short.

Hughes was brought in to sign top players who fit that strategy, but instead it feels like recruitment has been handled like a game of Football Manager.

Edwards has allowed all of this to happen.

So, in my view, all three have fallen short.

I don't have the answers — and that's always harder than pointing out the problems. As a fan, though, all I really want is a cohesive club, with players who are playing for the shirt. At the moment, we're getting neither.

It may be time for Slot to go, but there's little point in making that change unless the wider structural issues are addressed as well.

Good post.
Seems to be a disconnect between what we put on the pitch and our overall "strategy".

That, for me, is why getting rid of Slot only is not a fix. Because all those involved are culpable.

Slot drained all our bench and youth players of all confidence, and us as fans confident in them by refusing to play them. What a s****y thing to do, he needs to leave now.

04 Apr 2026 19:37:51
A good starting point would be someone ringing Slot tonight and telling him to do one.

Didn't see the game as I had a family occasion to attend and there was no way I was gonna forgo that to waste 2 hours on an LFC game under this feckless manager, for I knew from jump, I was never getting back.

Edwars and Huges allowed this to happen cos they made it about themselves, pure and simple. The manager has been failing from the off this season, but they literally came out to support this manager while he was struggling and failing cos again, they made it about themselves.

Screw the club, the fans and our ambitions.

They told us to, "Suck it up. We back this manager and all his nonsense and we ain't changing. Do your worst". That was it for me. I guess, this is what you get when you have mates running the show. No accountability nor consequences. Instead, they continuously rewarded bad behavior till this day. Slot ain't the issue no mere. Those two enabling clown are.

Winning the league their first season in charge was the worst thing that could happen. All 3 got way too cocky and decided that they knew what was best individually, forgetting that Liverpool is a team effort. The situation's untenable, all 3 need to go as soon as the season's over, otherwise the players will start looking for a move, Macca and Konate have 1 foot out the door, Dom and Ekitike must be on everyone's radar, plenty of clubs would love to pick up Isak on the cheap.

We're heading for disaster if this doesn't get sorted asap.

Oli, you miss every week, mate.

Supporting a super successful club on the TV from thousands of miles away is a choice not a lifestyle.

6

04 Apr 2026 21:03:19
Well said, JK. Let's face it, if Oli and many others like him never watched us again, they'd hardly be a great loss to LFC. If that offends, I couldn't give a flying f***.

5

04 Apr 2026 21:45:20
Rome, you lust think I give a flying football what your pompous "I go to games hence, I am a better fan than you" arse thinks, yeah? You and your pathetic ilk can go fly a kite, as well. I didn't know you existed and pretty sure you won't be missed either. See how that pathetic rant can be aimed at you, now? The other geezer need not be paid attention to. Not now. Not ever.

We have people who go to games at Anfield booing the team or leaving before the games are over. I read that the away fans (the most loyal I keep getting told) were leaving the Etihad 10 mins or more before the game ended. We got fans waking up in the middle of the night to watch us play and now, can't be arsed. Are you now better than them because you watched till the end or go to Anfield, suddenly? Yeah, not flex you think it is because no one cares.

Just so you know. You will never, ever be a better fan than any LFC fan inside or ouside the shores of England. Get over it and for your own sake, get over you pompous, self-absorbed self. Just some friendly advise.

04 Apr 2026 22:28:20
All 3 of the Stooges need to go. The club is being run by muppets with zero business acumen, and the owners are now too old to give a flying...

Happy days. Could be worse, could be Hicks and Gillett or Moores and Parry, but only just... We need to be very careful lest we fall into an abyss.

1

04 Apr 2026 22:40:10
Oli, you're right. Your support for Liverpool rivals my support for 91 other clubs in the English leagues. I don't watch or go to their games either, but on the internet I can say I support them.

Which, in this day and age, that's all that counts.

2

04 Apr 2026 22:34:14
Who mentioned going to games, Oli? Go back to your YouTube or whatever streaming platform you watch us on.

And to get things right, people who pay to watch us, home and away, here and abroad, are better fans than you and I, so swivel on it.

I thought rock bottom was that appalling display in Turkey but today was considerably worse.
No tempo no fight no intensity it was as bad as it can be.
Ed001 I don't see any upside at the moment any crumbs of comfort would be much appreciated.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - erm, it is good that Szobo has grown his hair long so people can tell us apart now.... Yeah that's about it though.}

04 Apr 2026 19:40:36
We've been well below rock bottom all season, lung. We are right in the Earth's crust right now and have been for a long time now.

Ed001 you smooth talker you

First game in years I chose to skip because I didn't think it'd be worth getting up at 430am to watch slotball lead to another loss.

Still fuming at our club after seeing the result. Embarrassing. How is slot still here? I've been saying it since December, but he's now doing long term damage to the fitness and mentality of our players. Why let him dig such a deep hole for our next manager to have to pull the team out of? It's disgusting and unforgivable.

I'm really at a loss for words with how angry I am that this entire season is being wasted and our trajectory is now downward. Even if we get a new manager this summer, with the wasted time on the WC, it's going to be a miracle to get this team fit and ready for next season now.

3

04 Apr 2026 19:12:23
Snuggle, you must be West Coast US/Can like me. Same, I used to never miss an early match. Apathy has been my dominant emotion since November.

If we compare this to the 7 stages of an empire, I think it's fair to say that this season began in stage 5 w Arne's "Age of Intellect." We quickly moved on to the "Age of Decadence" and the last few months firmly into the "Age of Decline and Collapse."

Hopefully August will see yet another "Age of Pioneers and Conquest."

2

04 Apr 2026 19:15:44
I gotta wonder how many of our players would jump at a move in the summer if wages were matched elsewhere.

2

04 Apr 2026 19:42:05
@Snuggle, like you, I could have watched the game, but I had a get together with ly fam and other friends and I chose that over going to my local (it wasn't on BBC) and have absolutely no regrets.

1

04 Apr 2026 19:53:12
Jimjim, if Slot stays I'd bet all of them.

2

04 Apr 2026 22:52:24
I refuse too watch another game under the bald fraud we are a complete laughing stock spineless and no direction who ever is sticking by him is a joke I haven't watched a game for ages and psg will totally thrash us will be embarrassing but he will keep his job spent 450 million on a load of rubbish it is truly embarrassing

1

04 Apr 2026 17:28:57
Pathetic, passive, spineless, gutless rubbish.

Not the team, the board. Slot should have been sacked in November. I said at the time that prolonging it would only make things worse, and here we are.

Whoever has made the decisions to stick with him should be sacked immediately. I don't care who it is, they are negligent cowards and have no place being at the club.

No surprise today - had that been the City of 2 years ago it would have been double figures.

No idea why PSG campaigned to get that game v Lens moved, they could play two games a day between now and Wednesday and still beat a Slot coached team.

11

04 Apr 2026 18:53:10
I disagree, he should have been sacked in November. His title win earned him a bit more time, in my opinion. But, it's absolutely wild he's been allowed to go on as long as this. He should have gone a couple of months ago.

4

04 Apr 2026 18:56:53
What's Szobo doing to the Fans at the end there? He's got some front on him.

5

04 Apr 2026 19:17:17
If Scrabble doesn't want fans to boo, he and the team should play better. It's been cack since last March.

3

04 Apr 2026 19:44:49
"Whoever has made the decisions to stick with him should be sacked immediately. I don't care who it is, they are negligent cowards and have no place being at the club."

For me, they (Edwards and Hughes) should both be sent packing along with the guy they backed during a time that many of us knew he should have been sent packing cos many knew things would only get worse.

Now, it has, so what, Slot ain't the prob. anymore. Those who backed him should go too.

5

04 Apr 2026 18:11:53
Ed,

Just when we thought we couldn't go any lower, we manage to conjure up this performance. I know we all want Slot gone and put the blame on him, but in being engrossed in criticizing Slot, we cannot let the players go blameless. These are not academy players but high quality international players about to go to a world cup. The effort from the was non-existent. We played well till the 1st goal went in, although were toothless till then too. But the moment the 1st went in, we just gave up. That is far more concerning than the scoreline in my opinion. I think the players cannot be left without blame. I know that the tactics are the coaches', but no coach in the world can plan for Konate so easily losing Haaland for the 2nd goal, or the players just not interested in tracking the opponents for their next goals.

Salah should not be starting any of the next games in my opinion. He is just tarnishing his own legacy.

Wirtz and Ekitike are playing like they are playing for youtube highlights.

Grav tackles like a 6 year old.

Dom is fed up I guess.

This is a complete joke.

Sorry for the rant.

5

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - but if they are all playing poorly, then it has to be an issue of coaching and tactics. Slot's job is to inspire them and get them to make an effort, they would if a good manager was in charge.}

19

04 Apr 2026 18:24:37
Exactly Edl!! The new way of playing is not in the DNA of the players, which shows in them playing poorly. If one or two have off games, then fine, it can happen, but when it's the whole team, then it is a different matter.

Their talents are being suffocated by the manager. Getting Slot to change direction will not happen, he's incredibly stubborn, and knows he's done after this season. He couldn't care less, it seems. He's playing out time.

4

04 Apr 2026 18:31:49
They're all fed up, because they're sick of playing for somebody who doesn't have a clue what he's doing. It's been clear as day for the best part of 6 months now. Anybody who thinks otherwise is as clueless as Slot.

8

04 Apr 2026 18:36:57
It goes against what we are, but I really feel we need Anfield to stand up and make it clear he needs to go now and make sure they hear it.

5

04 Apr 2026 18:56:11
I hate this 'who we are' stuff. We need to be lethal, calculated, not sit there with our hands down our keks because 'it's not our way'.

2

04 Apr 2026 18:59:10
It looks to me like none of them want to play for this football club.

4

04 Apr 2026 19:38:21
The players are letting themselves down by allowing Slot's turd tactics get in the way. I have said a thousand times, these players do not need coaching, they need conditioning and motivation.

Just get Stevie in for the remainder of the season, FSG, if you want to qualify for CL. Arne will not deliver the minimum requirements, and that is on you if you refuse to change it now.

2

04 Apr 2026 19:47:58
If the players are fed up, Chewy, then they should all go, szob having a go at the away fans is beyond a joke, this is a player that in every interview after a match spouts the same s****, oh we don't understand why it's happening, it's not good enough, every time after a poor performance, it's about time they had a good look at themselves and work out if they want to be here.

It's really boiling my p***.

1

04 Apr 2026 19:57:15
LiverpoolFC8, no mate, they don't want to play for Slot. That much is clear as day.

Same players looked great last year playing with Klopp's tactics. Same players looked great under Klopp the previous season.

The only difference this year is Slot's dogs*** tactics. Playing for a manager who doesn't know what he's doing is unbearably frustrating and destroys your motivation. Anybody who's ever experienced it will tell you.

2

04 Apr 2026 18:03:22
Arne Slot on whether he is heavily involved in summer transfers.

"Yes I am. And I know why you ask this question. "

What do people make of this comment?

I see it as he thinks he's staying, but hold on to hope my interpretation is incorrect.

2

04 Apr 2026 18:27:23
Toeing the party line, he's not going to say "no".

1

04 Apr 2026 18:30:53
Or it is related to last summer's transfers.

1

04 Apr 2026 18:46:50
I thought he wasn't involved in transfers though and Edwards and Hughes stitched him up.

1

04 Apr 2026 18:54:46
Interesting comment. Ron, he could have stopped at "Yes I am."

1

04 Apr 2026 19:46:21
Everything is optional with Slot, at this point. It is what he would like it to be depending on the result.

0

04 Apr 2026 17:04:43
On a lighter note, because I don't want to talk about that shower, did anyone see that penalty Al Nasser won? Hands behind his back, hit him on the elbow! One of the worst decisions I've ever seen!

2

04 Apr 2026 17:45:04
Ref took a bung.

3

04 Apr 2026 17:03:42
I know it’s frustrating and believe me I’ve wanted this fraud out since Chelsea away in October. But the season has been dead for months.

There’s only one fixture that matters and it’s PSG. None of these games matter. Zero, Zilch, Nada.

So when we get destroyed in that game that’s where the line will be drawn, but make no mistake, today didn’t matter, the prem doesn’t matter, only PSG matters.

Why? Coz the rest has been completely dead since we didn’t sack him in November and it’s a sad reality. Slot, Edwards, Hughes all need to go.

8

04 Apr 2026 18:09:23
Why does PSG matter? We're not going to win.

3

04 Apr 2026 16:58:57
After watching that today I'd like to see Gerrard as our next manager. Before anyone eats me, I'm not saying he's the beat manager in the world, but neither were some of our past greats prior to taking over at Liverpool! To be Liverpool manager, you need a certain personality, a passion and a commitment to Liverpool and Gerrard ticks all these boxes.

That performance today was a shambles, just like all season has been. No passion or drive in that team and one person who players would run through a brick wall for is Gerrard! For Liverpool fans football is a way of life and Stevie G knows that better than anyone.

2

04 Apr 2026 18:34:25
If you were Gerrard, would you take over this s*** show with only a few games remaining? It would have been better to do it months ago. We never know, he could have been an inspiration to the team. Now it's too little too late. Roll on next season with a new manager.

1

04 Apr 2026 19:21:23
I'd say he would jump at the chance even just for a few games. I agree we should have done it a long time ago, but I wouldn't be against the idea of Gerrard getting it permanently. I'd also happily take Alonso. Anything would be better than this.
