Last lad we picked up cheap from bundesliga was a decent option for us Klavan, my only hope is this is the hybrid second DM option and we still go for a first choice younger lad or the clubs going to trust Bajetic.

I know teams miss out on players to other clubs but I genuinely can't remember the last time a club has a bid accepted and they didn't turn up for medical as they waited for another club. Let alone it happen twice.

I was massively hoping we were going to pull off 2 exciting signings to end the season but if this is true we are all over the shop.

30, cheap (£1.7 M release fee according to Transfermarkt, Japanese Captain with 50 caps, Defensive Midfielder / Defender.

If he's the Japanese Captain, he won't be terrible, and is obviously very experienced.

Not the signing that will take us forward long term, but perhaps a stopgap that solves a short term balance problem in the team and buys time so we don't get tempted to make a panic buy. A holding midfielder in more ways than one, perhaps.

I'm OK with this if it's followed up with a longer term solution.

Negativity is a joke on here. Really is.
Give the guy a chance.
Everyone was moaning about the experience we’re losing with hendo and Fabinho so maybe just maybe captain of a bundesliga team and his country at 30 years of age in the position we’re desperately in need of might not be the disaster everyone is already saying it’s going to be.
If we don’t buy a centre back as well I’d be concerned.
Maybe this guy will be another leader which surely isn’t a bad thing.

Y'see long term view, the verdict on this summer's summer was made by some people back in May. The owners are penniless. They aren't going to spend any money (despite Ed002 having told us 100x there was money for a midfielder) . They might even skim a bit off the club. One individual was adamant he'd been told that the club would only sign free transfers and cheap players whilst offloading the likes of Kelleher and Gomez to balance the books. So it was impossible to these people that we'd have a good summer.

They had to shut up for a while when we dropped £95m (plus add ons) on Mac Allister and Szoboszlai. Then after the Lavia and Caicedo debacle, it becomes about hiring a terrible DoF instead of being about money. "Okay lads we can't complain that FSG are penniless after a £111m bid for Caicedo, but this Schmakte guy is useless. FSG hired him! FSG OUT! "

They're delighted. They want Endo to not be good enough. They want Liverpool to finish 7th this season and they want Klopp to quit in a rage over transfers. Just so they can say "hahaha, I told you so! "
