Mount will join Liverpool.

Trust me on this one.

Very, very strong source.

Regardless of contracts etc, he'll be a Liverpool player. Players talk and that's what he wants, including Klopp.

That is all.

Cheers Davey! Decent player, though plenty of room for some Klopp-esque improvement. As long as he's one of several quality additions, I'm happy.

Tragic if true. so many better players out there for us.

I'm torn on this one. I have a feeling people may be eating their words on Mount. I'm not overly keen but he is decent.

I feel mount is so under rated I do agree their are better players out their but I have a feeling like Marty says I think klopp could have him playing some boss footy for us . a goal and assist rate of 1 every 6 games for Chelsea and he’s had some pretty Barron spells in his tenure.

A couple of years ago there was the big Mount vs Foden vs Grealish vs Maddison debate for England. I always argued the case for Mount because he worked so much harder than the other 3 whilst still providing a similar output in terms of goal and assists.

I stand by it that when Mount is fit and on form he is better than those other 3 players. The problem is that his form has deserted him for 12 months and he's just had to have hip surgery. I am really confident we will sign him so i just hope Klopp can get him back to that form of early 2022 and then i think we have a serious player on our hands. My worry is if the drop in form is linked to attitude or lifestyle. Hopefully it's a simple case of Chelsea being a basket case and Mount getting caught in the crossfire. On paper he is perfect for one of the two number 10 positions we currently have Jones and Henderson occupying in the new system.

Happy with Mount for the price we'll pay, agree with Dhfc in that he's underrated. Certainly on here.

Hey Davey. Thanks for info.
Time will tell but I think he'd be a great player on the right of a midfield 3. He's not really an out-an-out midfielder or winger but plays a 'hybrid' role well plus he has a great engine.

11.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 08:25:04
Coming off big surgery and a year out of form, sounds like something we should avoid at the cost.

How many players perform well in an underperforming team . We’ve all said on here not to judge nunez for the same reasons about playing in an underperforming team yet we are saying mount is no good now .
Mount could easily play any of the 2 further forward midfield positions and if we did revert to a more traditional 4-3-3 same applies .
Mount to rotate with hendo and Jones seems decent to me .

13.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 09:03:27
A couple of years or so back, when we played Chelsea I always felt he was the danger man. Whether he’s dropped of a bit and for what reasons I don’t know. Don’t know either whether he is the right player for us but there’s a decent player I there somewhere.

14.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 09:41:13
It’s a bit like the Andy robbo transfer look how that turned out.

15.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 09:41:32
I'm with you LancasterRed. I think there are better options. But i do also think Mount is a good player if he can rediscover his form. I just don't know why we'd take that risk when there are players of similar quality/ price who haven't had a terrible season. Maybe it's the HG factor or maybe Klopp just sees something in him that us mere mortals don't.

16.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 09:49:09
What can Mount do that Elliott cannot?

{Ed025's Note - change a light bulb without a stool.. ?

17.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 09:55:17
I can think of at least ten alternative, cheaper midfielders I would rather we signed. If true, no wonder so many of the scouting and recruitment team are quitting. What's the point if we are just going to go for the laziest, most expensive Premier League option?

18.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 10:07:10
I think Mount would be a really good addition to the squad. Works hard and would be a more than adequate replacement for the departing Keita or Ox for that matter. He’ll make the squad a lot stronger if he were to sign.

19.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 10:19:56

The drop off from Bellingham gets bigger and bigger every rumour.

People seem to be against Mount which I really don't understand.

He immediately improves us in that RCM role which the very limited Henderson is playing right now. People forget we need improvements on players in our current XI.

Mount is a huge upgrade on Henderson. Who has been Chelsea's player of the year 2 out of the last 3 years. He got 11 goals and 10 assists for Tuchel last season. He brings energy and quality. Klopp will make him a monster.

22.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 11:07:42
This is a tough one. I really like Mount and see plenty of upside potential, but I'd be worried signing him right off a surgery.

It's a risky move for the rumoured fee and likely wages he'd be on.

Let's hope he doesn't become another Ox/ Keita if he signs!

23.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 11:21:57
We don’t need more lightweight attacking mid players. We need players that we can build a solid midfield around and mount is not that. For the 1 ‘flair’ CM position we have Thiago, Jones, Elliot, Carvalho and even Gakpo lately. We need a destroyer with legs to play alongside Fab particularly in the RCM slot and that is the guy who needs to accommodate Trent going forward and lack of defensive ability. Don’t understand how anyone thinks Mount is the right fit for that role half decent player or not.

@ MK, I've nothing against him at all but if Chelsea aren't wanting to pay him what he wants, he hasn't been playing well, coming off a dodgy surgery to a place that is massively improtant on a footballer, we've seen Virgil and Ox suffer, plus we have Morton, Jones and Elliott, i'd rather we spent elsewhere ( or hopefully get a sale and buy who we need on a level we need, ha )

26.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 12:09:27
I can’t see Mount coming but I’d be happy if he did, Chelsea’s player of the year the last 2 years in a successful side, he’s a good age, home grown and can provide goals and assists from midfield which we lack. Yes he’s had a poor season but who hasn’t at Chelsea? It’s been a bit of a mess at the club this year.

27.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 12:32:43
This"he's had a bad season lark"is crazy to me. Chelsea has been an absolute s#£tshow this year with pressure to bed in a lot of new players! By that reasoning we should get rid of Darwin now because on the whole he's been brutal, even if there is potential there.

28.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 15:07:41
Mount would not be my first choice but he’s definitely an improvement on the vast majority of our current midfield options and - IMO - more versatile and better defensively than many here are giving him credit for.

Is he the calibre of target LFC should be after, though? Well we screwed the pooch in Ugarte, and there’s no guarantee our other reported targets want to come to us, will accept agreeable terms, or are even available. It’s not a computer game - we have to take the best available.

Personally, I think Mac Allister and Mount add a lot of energy that has been missing if we get both through the door.

29.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 15:10:36
Magico, his ideal role would be the one that Jones currently plays for us

I like Mount, good attitude, work rate and energy and think he'd be good in that stereotypical Klopp midfield

That being said, the cost is a real problem for me - 70m and 250k plus in wages? Just too expensive for me

Also, Jones is absolutely tearing it up in that same role atm. It is a role I think would be better suited to Elliott than the right centre midfield role he often occupies. Therefore, with 2 bright young stars there already, do we need a costly 3rd?

Very good player and one I wanted - this tweak in formation and tactics has meant that we possibly do not need him - I would still love Bellingham, I mean if we are only going to get one midfielder, wouldn't he be great - never going to happen lol but MacAllister would be a great buy if we could make that happen.

30.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 14:59:28
Ed do u really think if these pampered players need light bulbs changing they don't just pay a spark to do it for them?

{Ed025's Note - I don’t think players like Grealish ave ever had a light bulb moment baz.. ?

31.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 15:48:52
Will not cost NEAR £70m, one story with that price was printed and all of a sudden its gospel! Who in their right mind would pay £70m for Mount with 12 months left on his deal? And 250k plus in wages? now stuffs just being plucked outa thin air to support the narrative.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have declared an interest in Mount as I have explained. They have not entered in to any discussions with Chelsea over the price. The wages quoted are close to the figure Chelsea will not currently agree to.}

32.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 16:07:56
Mount as a squad rotation player to replace Keita/ Ox/ Milner makes good sense, especially if we get him for £40-45m or thereabouts.

He will be a damn sight better than Keita

Still only 24, homegrown and an England regular

What's not to like? It is not like he is going to start every game.

{Ed002's Note - I think he may cost more than that and the wages will be significant. He is not being considered as a "squad rotation" player.}

33.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 16:26:06
Mount looks like a Lallana to me. Which is good because these type of players are useful for any team in the EPL. Home grown, hard working, can play several positions, can understand tactical changes and execute them. And I'll bet you he'll be a pressing machine which Klopp adores. All the things that made Lallana popular with our fans and manager.

34.) 18 May 2023

The last player we bought recovering from an op following an injury, entering into the final 12 months of his contract was Ox.

Hope history doesn’t repeat itself.

35.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 18:28:32
Averages 32 Premier League appearances a year over the last 4 seasons in fairness. doesn't scream injury prone.

36.) 18 May 2023
18 May 2023 20:02:07
Mount and MacAllister where Jones and Henderson are playing would work very well i think.

37.) 19 May 2023
19 May 2023 08:53:09
Jones over MacAllister all day, just don't see his appeal at all.

38.) 19 May 2023
19 May 2023 11:41:00
That's how I see him too ArAy - has the energy for a non-stop press which would see him well in a Klopp midfield. Always likes to play it forward, support the attack and has an eye for goal too - like i've said, I like him and think he'd be a good fit

The cost is the big one for me, I'd originally thought around 40m given his contract situation but Ed2 advised it would be a lot higher than that. The wages too, 250k is the figure being reported that Chelsea will not agree too - just seems a lot to me, but definitely a player there

Also, with our tactical tweak where does he play? Jones is playing very well and does not deserve to be dropped tbh, but it is a similar role that would suit Mount too. As I've said above, I think Elliott would be good for this role too so is Mount one too many for this? Not sure what Klopp's thoughts are but Mount is quality and seems to have a good attitude as well.
