hey ed002, is there any interest in lovren?

{Ed002's Note - No, I am pretty sure there isn't.}

1.) 18 Jul 2015 14:27:56
thanks 002 mate

26 Jan 2015 11:28:29
BennyC any update on tomorrows team mate?

1.) 26 Jan 2015 18:35:19

Can skrtle sakho
Markovic hendo Lucas Moreno
Gerrard sterling coutinho

2.) 27 Jan 2015 00:05:19
thanks mate. assuming this is the team, then atleast we know BR is putting the strongest team, maybe with sturridge on the bench?

17 Oct 2014 03:57:57
Batman, are we still looking to sign Valdes or has that ship sailed?

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new that I am aware of.}

1.) Other than valdes, whick goalkeeper we are interested?

{Ed002's Note - Cassilas if he becomes available.}

12 Oct 2014 01:29:06
hey ed, did we really offer valdes a trial? seems weird offering a trial, i thought trials are normally offered to young footballers.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, to prove his fitness.}

hi ed001, i know this is a liverpool page, but would like to hear your opinion on Thiago Silva.

he seems to be very highly rated by many, and continously won team of the year etc, even the game fifa he is very highly rated (i know its a game, but only using this as to show more examples of how highly he is rated) .

in your opinion, if you have seen enough of him, considering of your situation now and with him playing in ligue 1, is he as good as he is rated by many?

{Ed001's Note - nothing special for me. Decent, yes, but world class? No. He is typical of the modern defender, average defensively but good on the ball.}

1.) 30 Dec 2016 09:44:00
i felt the same too, bt have only seen so little of their games, bt it does make me wonder why he is so highly rated by many.

thanks ed001.

{Ed001's Note - because most people have no idea about the defensive side of the game. Particularly pundits, which is why they fail as managers and end up being pundits in the first place.}

2.) 30 Dec 2016 09:59:17
Going to disagree here.

Silva is the heartbeat of the Brazil national team defence. It was due to his loss largely that they got hammered by Germany so heavily at the WC.

He is a leader, a very good defender (although not the best) and one of the best ball playing centre backs in world football.

As weird as it sounds, and I'm sure ed001 will do agree here but in modern day football I don't think you necessarily need to be the best at defending to be the best defender. Leadership, technique and physical attributes are just as highly sought after.

{Ed001's Note - sought after but the lack of good defenders is why we see so many teams having to waste a midfielder doing a defender's job in front of the defence.}

3.) 30 Dec 2016 10:37:05
I've seen him play only a handful of times and from what I have seen he's nothing too special. Matip over him anyday.

4.) 30 Dec 2016 11:14:00
Similar to Hummels then ed, great on the ball but overrated as a defender because of it.

5.) 30 Dec 2016 12:00:18
just to clarify, i did not in anyway say that he is not good. just that he is very highly rated by many, bt im not sure if he is as good as what a lot of people are saying.

6.) 30 Dec 2016 14:23:41
Having watched Silva for years at Milan, PSG and with Brazil, his best days are well behind him. He was class in his younger years with Nesta and Maldini there to mentor himTo me he messed up big time by going to PSG in Ligue 1, a very average league in a team where he was rarely ever tested and that stopped him from improving as there was no competition from rivals.

After that, he went to the WC and he was quite poor BUT if you had Luiz who was even poorer, next to you then it doesn`t help. He`s still great on the ball, has decent pace and superb in the air BUT to me, he`s lost a step or two. And just to clarify, Silva is NO LONGER the heart and soul of Brazil.

In fact, under the new coach Tite, he`s yet to start a single game for them. The current heart and soul of Brazil is Neymar, assisted by Gab Jesus and Coutinho.

7.) 30 Dec 2016 14:30:25
Hes not as good as you were Mr Beckenbauer.

8.) 30 Dec 2016 14:31:46
". sought after but the lack of good defenders is why we see so many teams having to waste a midfielder doing a defender's job in front of the defense. "

This is a genius off reply Ed01👌👌.

9.) 30 Dec 2016 18:35:18
Out of curiosity ed1, who do rate as the top 5 defenders in the game today? I'd go with Chiellini, Bonucci, Diego Godin, Azpilicueta and can't stand the bloke but Pepe.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea off the top of my head. Godin would have to be in there. Difficult to really pick as I have not watched much Italian football in years, so can't really choose from there. Spanish football has so few decent defenders, Pepe is far from a top defender in most games, but just has the odd great game. Plus it depends on the system you are playing and the way you want to play it. For instance a back three requires a totally different set of players from a back four. The wide defenders there have to be a cross between old fashioned defensive full backs and centre backs, while the central player needs to be all about reading of the game and positioning. I would certainly pick Fonte over Pepe all day long and twice on Sundays. He makes his team mates look better, including Pepe for Portugal.}

10.) 30 Dec 2016 18:56:58
Top 5 in the world has to be Godin, Alderweireld, Bonucci, Chiellini and Koscielny.

11.) 30 Dec 2016 19:53:35
Ramos deserves a mention as well. I agree on Koscielny. Kosc is a brilliant CB. Varane is another very good defender.

{Ed001's Note - Ramos? He may be a neighbour of my parents (well owns a house here anyway) but he is not a top class defender in anyway, shape or form. I would have Fonte over Koscielny every time, though I do rate Koscielny very highly. Varane is potentially good, but he has not been playing well in the last couple of seasons, so he shouldn't really be considered, yet.}

28 Dec 2016 04:48:40
did u get to watch the game ed001?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate.}

1.) 28 Dec 2016 06:29:35
will there be a review soon? i didn't get to watch the game would love to hear your opinion.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, just writing it now.}

20 Dec 2016 08:39:04
firmino was full of running as usual, however i noticed that he's seems to have more pace today than i can remember, am i the only one seeing that?

dont think he had the best game bt i'm very happy that the team continued pushing for the goal. very happy with the 3 points.

1.) 20 Dec 2016 12:44:41
Less weight now he's cut the top knot off? 😂.

15 Dec 2016 02:01:49
care for a match review ed001? couldn't watch the game yesterday, as i was caught up with work.

happy with the win, well done to the team.

{Ed001's Note - no mate, I had to watch it on a crap stream as it was not being shown here in Spain. Thankfully I am not here much longer, as I can't cope without being able to watch properly!!}

1.) 15 Dec 2016 06:47:12
Where to next Ed1?

{Ed001's Note - I am going back to Dubai in the New Year. At least there I can watch all the football and don't have to get up ridiculously early to cover the gaps in the editing times. Plus I have a new project I was intending to work on that I can do there properly. It is better for my health to have the sea air as well, here it is so dry it is not good. Oh and they all speak English there, as my Spanish is appallingly bad.}

2.) 15 Dec 2016 07:11:50
Brilliant Ed. See you soon there mate. I have a travel scheduled close to next Easter.

{Ed001's Note - did I say Dubai? I meant Doha......honest..... ;-)

3.) 15 Dec 2016 08:07:54
ahh, its alright ed001, all the best mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, sorry about that. I even paid for a subscription stream for a bit, to see it properly, but the net is so bad I gave that up as it would just buffer for ages. It was like watching someone make one of those claymation films. Everyone making a little movement, then it would freeze, before another movement, then freeze, and so on.}

4.) 15 Dec 2016 08:27:08
It's a hard life eh Ed;)

{Ed001's Note - it is when you don't like a place mate. It has not helped with my health like Dubai did, hence the return so quickly. Plus I am still sulking about not being able to watch the game. It is ok when they are covering us, but they only show a couple of games here from the Prem, so it is crap when we aren't chosen. Also it has not been easy to get an in with the local professional clubs, as my Spanish is so bad, whereas in Dubai I had made a lot of contacts. I want the help of some professional clubs to put together some videos I am working on, difficult to explain through a translator. In Dubai the clubs are much more open and welcoming, they all speak English and so I can work with them to put together the footage I need.}

5.) 15 Dec 2016 09:06:37
Can you not use mobdro Ed1?

{Ed001's Note - yes, but it does not always work because of the net here being so slow.}

6.) 15 Dec 2016 11:33:19
Ed001 what exactly is your occupation? If you don't mind me asking😉.

{Ed001's Note - this is my occupation.}

7.) 15 Dec 2016 13:50:57
Sounds like you need a new internet provider! I get decent enough net speed in Malaga, and there are more than enough english speaking people round these parts haha, all the best mate.

{Ed001's Note - I am not in Malaga mate. Did you enjoy the snow?}

8.) 15 Dec 2016 14:56:27
Enjoy Dubai ed1. Hope you still keep around?

9.) 15 Dec 2016 14:56:27
Enjoy Dubai ed1. Hope you still keep around?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, I am going back there as it is easier to work there, plus cheaper to live.}

15 Dec 2016 02:01:49

i would think sturridge wants to play, and he has every right to leave to seek for first team opportunities if he's not getting it here.

ive seen players come ago, and i feel like he genuinely loves the club.

not sure where your getting that 100k/ week from man, that was not confirmed by the club.

its very much like Mignolet all over again. i suppose it does say were not going to get another CB, unless Klavan leaves which is looking unlikely. but even if Klavan leaves, he has barely played anyways.

i really hope not Ron. but its mainly due to his injury history, i don't really know how he is as i barely watch him.

im not local bt that would destroy the relationship with the local fanbase and all the local history with it.

no matter what benefit it brings, it takes out the heart and soul of the club itself. the club is nothing without its fans, supporters.

Also consider that some of the players that was excellent at 19/ 20 then fade out when they get to 25. while age is a factor, you cannot compare a player because of their age, there are so many more important factor then age, unless your talking about 40 year old players. your Totti's aren't a common thing.

standards aside, the interpretations that we see in the game itself are not even consistent. a push in this game is a penalty, while another is not.

a rough lunging tackle is a yellow in a normal game, and not in derbies? just because its a derby, it doesn't mean its a game with a different rule. i understand that standards could be different, could change from year to year, following reviews and changes should be made when it is needed, for the rules to remain relevant and of course, to protect the players.

but in the game itself there must be a way for all these decisions to be at the very least, highly consistent. without videos and what not, you'd expect them to miss some and i get it. again, id like to repeat, its inconsistencies of the decision made from similar incidents in different games that bothers me. i know its difficult, but it doesn't mean we can't point that out.
