Quick question for the Ed's,

Is it true we are interested in Courtois from Chelski?
With his contract running down and no sign of renewal he's surely worth a punt.

north east red

{Ed001's Note - no idea but his problem is he wants to go back to Spain, so it would seem a complete waste of time to be interested in him.}

1.) 31 May 2018 15:55:52
I’m interested in Emma Watson - never going to happen.

With Courtois and De Gea potentially moving on, and Karius having the wobbles, it seems top GK’s are the new ‘20 goal a year strikers’. everybody wants one.

2.) 31 May 2018 18:41:13
Emma Watson in net? Everyone will be trying to score Haha.
Forget courtois.

3.) 31 May 2018 18:58:07
I see Courtois going to Real Madrid, he’s said before his heart is in Madrid and his ex and child live there. Don’t see him going back to Atletico as they have Oblak and even if they sell him I can’t see Atletico shelling out the cost for Courtois.
De Gea I think will unfortunately stay at Utd.

Allegedly we've had a 7m bid rejected for Chilwell, Leicester want 10m.

north east red

1.) 22 Jun 2016 10:41:08
To be fair I'd be happy if we paid 10 for him. Not bad at as all.

2.) 22 Jun 2016 12:50:19
How good is Chilwell? doesn't seem to have played many games at all yet some people seem to think he can come straight in to our first team? i'd be a bit worried if our best leftback option next year was a 19 year old with 11 games experience, but then again I've never seen him play.

3.) 22 Jun 2016 12:53:54
What has he achieved for a £10m price tag? Does having an English passport put £6-£7m on your head?

He is a £3m player at best. Our Teixeria at £400k has achieved more in the game.

What is Ibe worth if Chilwell is £10m? £50m? More?

Didn't we sign full England international right back Clyne, with over 100+ EPL games under his belt cost around £12m? Rate Clyne or not but compare cvs for your money and put forward a case for £10m on Chilwell.

Please hope we walk away.

{Ed001's Note - who cares what we paid for an average England right back who was coming to the end of his contract and asking for a transfer? What has that to do with the transfer of anyone else? Why do people have this notion that one deal has anything to do with another? The question should be whether or not Chilwell is the player believed to be the answer to our left back problem. If so, pay what it takes. I don't care how many caps he has or how many games he got, I just care if Klopp thinks he is the right man for that role.}

4.) 22 Jun 2016 13:01:01
LB needs to be priority not a kid that is 2 seasons away from being competitive enough to challenge Moreno and that's IF he gets to that level. No PL experience and one good half against Spurs second string and now worth £10m? Hector is a full German international and only worth £20m Leicester been watching our performance in the transfer market when we buy from Saints and thought we'll have a but if that. Might be a bright young thing but LB is not somewhere we need to be gambling on.

{Ed001's Note - if Klopp decides he is the right option, then how can you, who has clearly never seen the lad play, tell us different? These asinine comments slagging off a player people have never seen, deciding what quality or lack of he possesses out of pure ignorance and stupidity, are just ridiculous. Hector is a full German international who has not played well in the league in about 25 games I have watched him play, that is why he is not worth much.}

5.) 22 Jun 2016 13:27:19
Eds I have seen both play and Chilwell is lightyears away from Moreno's so isn't going to be competition for a couple of seasons at least. My issue is the cost for such little experience it has nothing to do with the kids quality. I'm not just some ignorant kid who is just after huge signings. I have been behind the signings of Grujic and Zielinski. If we had a quality LB and the kid was cover then great, he's worth a go but as we need an improvement then even at £10m it just seems a bit much. As I've said before, the window isn't open yet I'm waiting to reserve my full assessment come August.

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry but I think you are massively overrating Moreno if you think the lad will not compete with him. As for suggesting he is not a quality LB, I will take the word of Steve Walsh over yours any day. The guy who picked out most of the players for Leicester rates him very highly, that will do for me.}

6.) 22 Jun 2016 13:27:56
If Chilwell is the guy that Klopp thinks can fix our LB issues, then pay the money and move on. Klopp's former lieutenant David Wagner is his manager at Huddersfield and who can better evaluate Chilwell just like Klopp would, than his own trusted friend? I say, get the kid and quit messing about. I may not have ever seen him play but it doesn't mean he's not good enuff so those saying that, know very little about the game.

7.) 22 Jun 2016 14:11:43
Spot on #1 and redohio.

8.) 22 Jun 2016 14:15:17
I agree if we want him just pay up the necessary amount. I would actually prefer we sign Chilwell for £10m than Hector for £20mil. Hector is obviously further along in his progression but spending £20mil on a left back is not the something I believe the club should be doing unless he is something ridiculously special. Hector to me (judging from Colognes matches not Euros) seems to be very steady and a 7/ 10 player in most attributes. That he is a german starter is more because of their lack of options at full back than anything else. Don't get me wrong I like his style but he is not worth £20mil.

9.) 22 Jun 2016 13:58:20
all I can say is is Chilwell £10m better than Smith? If not then why not coach our own kids and save the money?

10.) 22 Jun 2016 13:59:05
Eds, do you know the lad? I am from norway and i know people, who know him. He went to RM because he and his father thinks it is the best fotball club in the world, simple as that. Sorry to say this, since u own this site and all, but i think its quite low saying a teenager is grabbing money and has no belief in himself. Maybe you ment something else, but that's what i got out of your comments. Its actually somewhat provoking.

{Ed001's Note - I really do not care what you have to say, that is why he chose it. Best club my arse, he knew he wasn't going to get a game but also knew it would set him and his family for life. It was about money not the best for his career. Now that is not low, it is business and this is his career and he chose the quick money. I am not judging him for it, I am pointing out what he did. No one said he had no belief in himself, but he did know the coaching staff had no interest in him and didn't want him when he signed the deal with the training with the first team clause. That is why he threw tantrums and fell out big time with the club and Zidane.}

11.) 23 Jun 2016 05:40:40
Is this last post from Norway_lad about Odegaard? It is showing up with the Chilwell posts.

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

12.) 23 Jun 2016 17:28:09
Ancelotti has admitted in his book that signing Odegaard was a PR exercise.

{Ed002's Note - Schalke rejected bids from Spurs and Stoke for Leroy Sane in the summer. A number of clubs from across Europe have had the player watched in the first and reserve sides towards the end of last season and at the start of this - including Manchester United, Barcelona, Sunderland, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and RBL. Do not discount a bid from Manchester City in January, and whilst they are loathe to meet the asking price, they are willing, and likely, to make a very significant offer as they know a bid from Barcelona is imminent and that will be immediately followed by a bid from Real Madrid.}

1.) 27 Jan 2016 14:34:19
Many thanks Ed, I'm curious what the asking price may be with so many clubs having watched him but no deal struck. It must be extortionate. Does he have just over a year to rub on his current deal?

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid were quoted €55M.}

2.) 27 Jan 2016 14:41:26
And Matip ed?

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts.}

Local news is reporting that a three year deal has been agreed in principle for Lambert to join Middlesbrough,

Heard anything Ed's??

north east red

{Ed002's Note - Not about Middlesbrough. There has been a little interest from elsewhere and he is available, so perhaps.}

1.) 19 Jul 2015 13:36:44
I would think 3 years is a stretch for a 33 year old

Apparently the ox has agreed to join Chelski.
The good news just keeps coming! 😂.

north east red

1.) 28 Aug 2017 17:03:52
Phew. thank God for that 😅.

2.) 28 Aug 2017 17:04:02
Be interesting to see how he gets on there with ever changing managers and his desire to play centrally. I feel it's not a long term move. I expect a few more moves in his career.
Im glad we've missed out on him regardless.

3.) 28 Aug 2017 17:32:24
Would you all have backed the Ox had he signed for you or just carried on slating him like now?

4.) 28 Aug 2017 17:27:00
I thought he'd be okay as a backup utility player. But what I saw on the field was pathetic yesterday. I guess his mind is already on his next team.

5.) 28 Aug 2017 17:58:59
I'd have been gutted if we'd have bought him, happy that we aren't wasting £35-40m Welsh Red Devil, he's a very ordinary player, I've been very consistent on this point.

Buyinb players like him when there are top class players like Lemar available has been our downfall for years, if we can bag Lemar I think we only need to get ourselves a centre back and it will be very decent business this summer.

6.) 28 Aug 2017 17:45:38
There were plenty who didn't want him Welsh Red Devil. For me personally, i don't go into the player bashing at all. I yhink there is a reason why we are fans and not scouts or managers 😉.

7.) 28 Aug 2017 18:13:58
Don't really want any of that Arsenal team that was at Anfield yesterday. Ok I'd take Sanchez for our bench but that's it 😆.

8.) 28 Aug 2017 19:22:04
I would of been a little disheartened if he signed but, should he have put pen to paper, I would have supported him 100% - same for any signing we make.

9.) 28 Aug 2017 21:16:29
I'm over the moon that Ox did not sign at LFC. He is pants, end of.

Morning all, ed's been reading a few reports this morning that we are in talks to sign William Carvalho, have you heard anything onthis or is it just bs? Cheers in advance.

north east red

{Ed002's Note - William Carvalho has been looked at by Liverpool so there is the chance that something can be done.}

1.) 24 Jan 2017 11:30:38
One for the summer I would imagine

2.) 24 Jan 2017 12:40:22
DaRedMan, the rumours are that we are in Portugal now to broker a deal this window. The source isn't great so doubt it myself but would be a good signing if we are interested and can pull it off.

3.) 24 Jan 2017 11:10:16
Are we currently working on trying to get a deal done Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything happening at the moment.}

05 Aug 2015 09:25:17
Seen a rumor doing the rounds this morning that L'Equipe have reported that we have been cleared to sign Lacazzette after Lyon allegedly told him he can leave, surely this can't be right? Ed's??

north east red

{Ed001's Note - yes it is. They really did report that....

1.) 05 Aug 2015 10:44:59
Ed's I sense that is a bit of sarcasm in your reply

2.) 05 Aug 2015 13:12:23
Redpathreds you need to change your name to Sherlock Holmes

3.) 05 Aug 2015 14:03:38
United realistically just need a striker and a winger. Hate to admit it but proved last season they can defend (despite having poor defenders) and Schneiderlin will protect the back four. If they lose de gea could be troublesome.

Think city may be the weaker team tbh. But is irrelevant because is about how we play. If ya think about it a good fit season for both strikers is around 15-20 goals each and tbh can't think of any team that has 2 strikers capable of that (maybe city?) and if firmino can get around 10 plus couts, hendo, lallana, Milner and ings have players who can score.

Just fingers crossed Lucas stays fit and gets played or whatever midfield BR plans cover the defence then don't see how it isn't achievable - but down to the manager and the players

4.) 05 Aug 2015 14:44:47
Would love to see this proof that United can defend??

They have Superman goals he got them 15 points easily.

I am not saying that's a bad thing, I really hate when people say "YOU ONLY GOT THIS BECAUSE OF THIS PLAYER" as if that's bad, what I say is congratulations for finding yourself such a good player. But it is the truth, De Gea was the match winner for United and is the reason they came top 4. Their defence was still awful. They desperately need a new CB of quality, and if Ed002 says they hope to add 4 players I am sure one of those is a CB.
