With the summer transfer window now being closed shut. I am satisfied that the club has brought in the right players, but not enough to satisfy all of the areas on which we are short, e.g., an out and out number 6.

Totally get that we can’t buy everyone in one window and there may be limitations that have restricted us.

So, in the next 2 windows, who would you like to see come in and out of the doors?

In:
Camara (Jan)
Kayode (Summer)
Araujo (Summer)
A left back (Summer), no idea who.
One from Rayan (Summer) or Minteh (Jan)
A box to box midfielder.
Brughmans (already agreed)

Out:
Endo - early contract termination (Jan)
Chiesa (Jan if Minteh signs or summer if Rayan is signed)
Gomez, Harvey, Ramsey, Tsimikas, Davies contract expiration.

Marmadashvili (Summer)
Macca (Summer)
McConnell (Summer)
Woodman (Summer)
Agree 1 year extensions for Ali and VVD if they carry on as they did yesterday.

Promote Ndukwe next summer (or sooner if he comes back in Jan), decide if Pecsi and/or Jaros are ready to be the regular cup keeper (if Ali stays).

He’s losing a step year on year and he might want to have a year or two in Italy or a lesser league before he goes back to Brazil. Let’s cherish this fella while we can people because for me he’s the Premier League GOAT and that’s not because I have my red glasses on..I think he’s better than Van Der Sar, Chech, Whiskey nose, Clemence even.

Howzit IA.

Not sure i'm getting you mixed up with another poster, and apologies if I am.but didn't you say that there were issues behind the scenes between Hughes and Iraola during this transfer window?

You said something about sharing that info after the window or something like that.

Will be a huge loss for us, but hope Janos, Pesci or Brughmann can step up.

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - surely the Belgian kid will be number one next season? You don’t break the transfer record for a teenage goalkeeper and loan him out for an extended period of time?

Does Ali look a bit overweight this season? Not sure if it’s the beard and scraggly hair that makes him look that way, but he certainly isn’t moving like Ali.

His strength is normally his speed.

He’s so quick across the line that he makes hard saves look easy. When players are one on one, he’s in their face before they can decide what to do.

This season he looks a bit slow so far.

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - he doesent look like a fitness model that’s for sure but I’m sure the longer the season goes on like all the players his physique will change and sharpness will return. We need a big season from him so let’s hope he stays injury free

Since GKs develop slower and the new GK is just a kid, I wouldn't be surprised if LFC were going to do the Chelsea route with Courtois. That would mean buying a GK for 3/4 years (like Diogo Costa) and loaning the new GK to top clubs for experience.

Don’t think his heart has been in the club for a while now. Definitely carrying timber.

At last the last clown has left the club but now Dick Hughes has gone who are we going to get to fill the role as SD.
Brentford are a very well run and don't seem to get to many transfers wrong.
Very important we get this one right if we are going to move forward.

05 Sep 2026 19:10:25
Hughes was good at Bournemouth though Grino... also, maybe it's one of those things where the SD needs to be cut from a certain cloth? Just like our managers and players need to be?

Maybe it's me being biased, but clubs like LFC are more of an emotional type of job...

Seems like you need people with a special type of character to be at the club....

What has happened to TV pundits? Honestly think there isn't one single good pundit around now, they're all so hard to listen to! They never praise anyone, all they do is pick mistakes for absolutely everything! When was the last time a goal was scored and they just talked about the good play for the goal? It's always about criticising.

To be honest, DW2, the one for me who tends to speak the most sense and appreciates the more skilful players, is Rooney.
He’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I know, but he doesn’t criticise for the sake of it and he does know what he’s talking about from a player's point of view.
And Keane is still good value. Imo that is.

I like Alan Smith. I did like Andy Townsend, but not heard him for a while.
Worst has to be Ally McMoist closely followed by Carra and that woman on TNT.

Think football has the same problem as most sports - most of the commentators are “beige” and sound similar with little personality that comes across.

As someone who was brought up on 70/80’s you didn’t need the visual on TV because the commentators were synonymous & recognisable so you knew what sport you were watching:
Football - Motty & Moore
Cricket - Benaud & Johnston
Golf - Allis
Rugby - Bill McLaren
Tennis - Maskell
Horse racing - O’Sullivan
Athletics - Coleman
F1 - Walker & Hunt
Snooker - Lowe

These days if you just listened to commentary it’s all very similar & I can’t tell them apart or is it just me getting old?

I have to agree with every choice of yours, Nutter.
Johnners was great to listen to.
I met him once at an ATM in St John's Wood. We had a brief chat and he was an absolute gentleman and always had that cheeky grin of his.
He was a bit unsteady, so I held his arm as he crossed the road towards Lord's cricket ground.
He sounded like a lovely and amusing chap on the radio. My goodness, he was exactly the same in real life.
I still miss his commentary.

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - I met Richard Keys once and he was extremely courteous but I have to attest is the hairiest mofo walking the planet..I hasten to add I only saw him in a t-shirt..

I believe that the pundits are instructed to commentate in a particular way...

1. Never criticize or disagree with the officials' decision.
2. Make controversial statements as drama sells in the TV business.
3. Favour certain teams over others.

@Grimo, Townsend was in commentary last night in my feed.

So many times he was so anti LFC, I was shocked.
I loved him as an analyst before, but I don't enjoy him as a commentator or pundit nowadays.

I used to enjoy Hargreaves, but haven't seen him in a while....

Just curious, Nutter.
Rugby League: Waring or French?

0

05 Sep 2026 20:00:23
Clay TBH never watched any rugby, but Bill McLaren was the best known with iconic voice - I’ve heard of Eddie Waring (another ironic voice) but not heard of French.

Eddie Waring's "Ooop an under" was iconic. French on the other hand was the preferred commentary from die hard 'leagueists. They insisted that French's approach was a lot less comedic. However, I thought Eddie's more relaxed rhetoric was better. Oh well.
Mate, I'm 71. My opinions are pretty much irrelevant!

Nutter, talking of commentators:
Michael O'Hare used to commentate on the Grand National after Beecer's and before O'Sullivan took over for the final fences and finish in front of the grandstand.
He was commentating on the Irish football final and said the immortal words:
"Now, we're coming into the turd & final quarter."
Oh my goodness!

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - I’d say Stephen Hensley is a super commentator and for me the GOAT is Brian Moore

Enjoying watching Bournemouth play and you can see the style of play AI is trying to get Liverpool playing with the high press and energy. Have to say Truffert always looks good when I see him play and they struck gold when they signed him. Would love to see him and Scott at Liverpool one day.

Just a quick note on an incident in last night's match

The foul on Gakpo in the area after the ball had clearly been played away.

Last week Ali made contact with Neco Williams and the ref moved away from the incident before turning back towards the area and giving a pen (looking suspiciously as though someone in his ear told him to award the pen).

Last night the ref was clearly looking at the foul on Gakpo and that nothing was developing for Liverpool, and didn’t award anything.

Why didn’t VAR tell him to go to the monitor? The whole point of the system is to ensure accurate and consistent decisions.

How can the same foul be a pen one weekend and the next weekend it’s not?

Baffles me.

05 Sep 2026 19:20:07
Because the inconsistency of refs and VAR is questionable to a certain degree, SirBob....

The fact that the incident was mentioned anywhere, by anyone, also raises many questions....

And you're right, by the way. It should be questioned as to why it wasn't a pen.

06 Sep 2026 01:52:22
Unfortunately 'ensuring accurate and consistent decisions' is not mentioned anywhere in the mandate of VAR. To be fair, it would be impossible. It is frustrating, but the mandate of VAR is to avoid clear and obvious errors.

No more. Each game is officiated on its own merits and all we can hope for is consistency within the same game, not across all leagues and competitions. There's too much grey in the laws of the game.

STC has officially left the club.

I don’t know if anyone else noticed last night but Macca was doing something I’ve been seeing Grav do.

Pulling people (verbally) into position when we were running towards our own goal

Just a little thing but makes a huge difference.

With transfers will Liverpool be working on ones ready for January or even next summer already or does everyone stop that until and month or so before the transfer window as you know anything can happen until then like long term injuries people changing the minds bad attitudes etc just curious if Liverpool might be talking to clubs about players even now?

If any of the itk's or eds reply thanks in advance

Very pleased with the intent and setup of the team last night. Even though it was Ipswich, I thought the press was very good. Loved the win the ball back quick attitude. It was very evident.

Gakpo and Isak interaction was top draw. We got the Cody from 2 seasons ago, with nothing predictable about his game. He looked strong, focused and worthy of his place in the best club in the world. Munoz was great too. He's going to be a Kop favourite. He never gives up; no defender in the prem will be able to relax with him around.

Dare I say it, even Macalister looked mobile covering empty space and doing his job very well. Needs to learn the new rules though, he still did his best man dead impression, slapping the floor hoping to get the game stopped. Then 2 mins later, running round like a spring chicken.

I'm hopeful.

Tuesday's biggest game so far, let's give BB a nite to remember.

Massive shout out to the away supporters. Great to hear the old bony M song. Great feel good night.

Going to work with hope in my Heart.
