Caicedo rumours ramping up. Sky sports all over it now. 3 clubs in the running, allegedly.

19 Jan 2023 00:05:33
Can’t see us being one of them as there’s multiple media reports that we’ve got no money the rest of the window. Good luck with that £200m in the summer lmfao.

19 Jan 2023 00:14:46
If its to do with liverpool its hot as an ice cube, Chelsea are nailed on .

3.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 00:21:42
Probably going to Chelsea.

4.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 06:02:13
VV mate having cash isn't the problem, we can always get em on instalments just like Gapko.

5.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 07:42:58
Aren’t we third on the revenue list ahead of Utd for last season.

6.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 08:07:22
No 2nd WarMachine, but we can only spend £20 million because of our owners, but we were the front runners for Mbappe apparently ha.

7.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 08:42:00
As somebody who does understand the financial side can you explain to me “why we can only spend £20: million because of our owners”, please? I genuinely don’t understand.

8.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 08:47:31
Chelsea bound!

9.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 08:57:20
WDW - you need to ask someone to teach you to spot the difference between banter and fact. In basic terms you would need to speak to someone from the club to get facts and in here you will mainly only get Banter from posters and some fantastic guidance and banter from the Ed’s.

10.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 09:05:07
At the same time WarMachine, maybe someone shuld explain to you the difference between revenue and profit.

11.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 09:11:31
I’m an accountant rubber. But crack on and explain please.

12.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 09:24:59
kopforever we don’t have the money to make the first j instalment and unless they’re taking an IOU he’ll be going to Chelsea approximately 10 minutes after Todd B has had his first line of the day.

13.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 09:28:07
Me too WarMachine. However you're the one getting excited by a revenue figure when most people in the Finance world know that it tells us nothing without being balanced by the operating spend figure which wipes out the revenue.

14.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 09:29:13
“We don’t see value in the market” FC.

15.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 09:53:07
Wasn’t getting excited Johnny as I agree with you that it’s only one figure. It’s a fantastic figure however and whoever is responsible for increasing revenue should be applauded including Klopp for getting us to all those finals.

16.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 10:33:11
Might give WarMachine a swerve if looking for advice on upcoming self assessment taxation deadline.

17.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 11:13:06
Keep climbing that revenue ladder though lads, and i know its not as simple as we have loadsa money now but at the same time i get the feeling that we could be TOP of the money league by a hundred million and still people would be saying"theres a difference between revenue and profit though". i don't make a habit of slating the owners over transfers but at the same time more and more money can't keep coming into the club every year without loosening the purse strings. i suppose it just baffles me how other clubs are able to manage it.

18.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 11:16:29
Accountant rubber? Sounds like a tax free condom.

19.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 11:23:18
Can i also add that whilst applauding Klopp for getting us to all those finals, keep in mind that our annual wage bill was £325m in 2020 and £314m in 2021. So Klopp and especially Edwards need to accept their share of the blame with regards to why we can't spend much. Over half our revenue is cleaned out on wages. That is from the official financial report and encompasses all members of staff; approximately 960 total and including around 220 playing/ coaching staff (which will no doubt be the main bulk of the cost) .

{Ed001's Note - exactly what I kept saying when everyone was claiming Edwards was the greatest ever. He made a mess of the finances by handing out big contracts like they were penny sweets at Halloween. We are hamstrung by the wage bill he is responsible for.}

20.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 11:46:43
It's obscene Ed001. Everyone wants to blame FSG but the financial reports are free to download from the official club site and tell you exactly where all the money goes. I'm eagerly awaiting the release of 2022's numbers in April/ May. I wouldn't mind betting it will be close to 2020's £325m considering the domestic cup wins, Champions League final, 2nd place, 63 games played etc. and all the bonus clauses that will inevitably have triggered. Edwards has done serious short term damage as we've had to let players run down their contracts due to nobody else wanting to touch them on what we paid/ pay them. Sturridge, Lallana, Gini, Origi, Ox, Keita, Firmino etc. Which has the knock on affect of making it hard to regenerate the squad as we're getting nothing for the players leaving.

{Ed001's Note - exactly what I have been saying all along MK. He was a huge mistake and I hope we actually get someone in that role that has a handle on the club's financial position and thinks about the long-term rather than just gives them what they want.}

21.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 12:08:41
Ed's why can't we just go the same route as United and put a club limit on wages, 200k a week is more than enough for anyone, would prove some of the guys who sign actually want to be there instead of just picking up a wage and WDW i was being semi sarcastic, our net spend is close to £20M a season, it's pathetic given our standing and performance on the pitch, FSGout.

{Ed002's Note - Net spend is of no relevance.}

22.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 12:10:24
Is it also possible that Klopp's influence grew and muddied the FSG/ Edwards strategy of buy smart and supplement income by flipping enough players to boost the coffers, to Klopp's family first, circle of trust/ loyalty model?

That may also explain why we have had two sporting directors quit in the space of 12 months.

23.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 11:56:42
As far as I am concerned, if that is what they will accept, I would pay it. Yes it sounds like a lot of money but he's 21, a standout in a brilliant Brighton team, has adapted to the league and it would immediately increase our chances of getting top 4 and giving the Madrid ties a real go.

In terms of overpaying - well that is the penalty of the dither, dysfunction and delusion of the last window.

24.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 12:45:25
Seen a report the other day saying he wants liverpool move. Would love it if we pulled this off. Then Bellingham in summer But agree Chelsea bound I think.

25.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 12:47:27
Imo our commercial department having been very slow to catch on to our success. We all know in years gone by we were poor at maximising revenue. But I still think we are still £40m short on the commercial side. The new Standard Charter deal will help but it’s 3 years late.

26.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 13:39:24
VV mate we can always do Instalments deals or else we wouldn't have been working extremely hard finding a midfield behind the scenes.

There's a reason we have been in contact with agent's and trying hard to find a solution if possible before the window shuts.

27.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 14:47:18
I was under the impression that our wage bill was similar to other big clubs? Maybe I'm wrong, but don't you have to pay to keep/ attract the best players? Honestly, the same fans who were swearing fire and blood if we didn't give Mo his contract are the sane ones saying we now pay too much in wages. I just don't see how so many people seem to think they have all the answers.

Elsewhere I think Bajetic could be as good as Caicedo and I'd love to give him a chance to develop.

28.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 15:00:06
So our wage bill in 2020 was 325m and it dropped to 314m a year later and that's why we've less money to spend . We're the only so called big club without a pot to p. in. The only so called big club who's brilliant manager has to tell the world we've no money when asked in press conferences when asked how come we're not strengthening the areas causing us the most trouble. I don't want new signings every window or 100ms spent, but what we're looking at now is absolutely pathetic .

29.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 15:23:00
The club isn't being truthful when they make dumb declarations about not having any money. What does that even mean? Not a single person in here outside of a couple of the Eds has a good understanding of what that means. There is plenty of money. The real answer is that if they choose not to spend it's because the current opportunities in the market are not prudent to what they're trying to do long-term.

I'm sure the club weighed several factors:

1) How to lost revs next season compare to the premium we'd have to pay on Caicedo? We value Caicedo at X, Brighton wants 70M.

2) Will Caicedo be able to make a quick impact and being the piece that helps us push for top 4, or will he need time to integrate?

3) If Caicedo needs time, can our money be spent better during the summer or are there better targets for us in this moment?

Considering this, it doesn't seem like they believe Caicedo is the right player for right now.

30.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 16:26:43
Looks like we'd sooner have nunes for more £ in the summer even though we could of had him last summer. And pairing him with Bellingham. Why can't we have the 50mill from next summers £250 million they keep spouting about. Probably because it doesn't I know. Atleast bid for caicedo.

31.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 17:32:28
For every club in this top 20 half of the revenue is cleaned out by wages. This isn't just a Liverpool thing. Our wages to revenue ratio is 62% which is pretty much middle of the pack. 14 other clubs have a higher ratio.

32.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 17:43:55
Disappointed if our top two targets are nunes and Bellingham for the summer - both good players but rather one of them and the combative midfielder we actually need.

33.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 21:03:10
According to Deloitte reports: The average wage as % of revenue is c.72%. And Liverpool's wage percentage is still much better than most.

34.) 19 Jan 2023
19 Jan 2023 21:43:42
@WarMachine, I must need to change my medication, I’ve genuinely got no idea what your reply to me meant either. It might be possible that I’ve had some sort of breakdown I guess ….

35.) 20 Jan 2023
20 Jan 2023 20:04:41
I respectfully disagree on the contracts. Liverpool are a big club, but there are bigger clubs out there in more appealing destinations able to offer extremely lucrative pay. Investing in the wages, while trying to maximizing our returns in the transfer market helped us maintain a lot of squad stability which is key to Klopp's system as it takes guys a while to be integrated. Very few players in the Klopp era have gotten their heads turned by other clubs, and up until this year we were able to maintain a high flying rhythm that many opponents couldn't keep up with.

"Runours ramping up" means its 100% not true. We need to look at rumours that are not ramping up, look at Gapko purchase, was there even a hint of rumour. Please search for rumour that has not yet become q rumour, thanks. Its just simple logic.
