Hi guys, Celtic fan here. We have just got Brendan Rodgers in as our manager and just wondering what you thought of him during his time as manager?
I don't know much about him if I'm honest other than I watched a few games seen you were close to winning the league. Guessed it's better to ask the fans than read what's in the papers.

On here were a truck load of abuses towards the man. If he was half decent, he wouldn't have got the sack 2 months into a new season after signing a 3 year contract extension.

Brilliant coach and played a good system until it was found out. My problem with him was he never learn from his mistakes. Constantly changing the team and tactics when we were playing poor rather than get stability. Playing a second string team against real Madrid for instance. He also refused to take any blame for literally anything and even when we got beat 6-2 by Stoke his opening lines were we played well the first half even though we were 3-0 down. I do believe if he learned from his mistakes rather than hide from them he could be a top manager. Good luck.

Lets not forget he brought swansea into the PL, and surely you can't do that without some tactical nous and undetstanding of the game.
But on the other hand I worry about his wisdom in buying players, and even worse, last season it looked as if he was completely unable to motivate the players.
He may get better at his weak points as he gets older, and I do not want to be disrespectful to any former manager of our club, but I just don't think his normal football style is either entertaining enough or successful enough to satisfy a hugely supported club like celtic, with such passionate supporters.
My prediction is that - if he performs as he did in his last 18 months at lfc- he will be sacked at the end of his first season.

If you ignore the waffle he spouts, I'm sure there is a decent manager in their somewhere, but apparently the players weren't keen on him and it all fell apart.

Rodgers was not made for Liverpool, that is for sure. Whether he is made for Celtic, well, you will just need to find out.

To be fair I could manage that Celtic team n win the league at a canter n my only managerial experience is 5 a side and champ manager, so in terms of success Rodgers will do a cracking job.

He has certainly had his good moments and we have to give him credit for developing/ figuring out how to make the most of Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling, but then on the other hand it really fell apart badly at the end.
My biggest gripes with him were
1) never kept it real when things weren't going right - always spouting off some rubbish in the press about character
2) took a winning formula from the 13/ 14 season and switched the team around completely to his favourite 4-3-3 possession game and a target man upfront instead of just replacing Suarez with like for like and building on previous years success
3) when it started going wrong he switched players and formation almost every 30mins and struggled to build any form of base or consistency, losing the dressing room - hopefully he's learnt not to tinker so much
4) didn't know much about defence (especially set pieces, use of a defensive midfielder)
I have to be honest, while he did some great things at Swansea and during the 13/ 14 season, I still think he has a lot to learn and not sure he has the humility to learn it. Hope it works out better for you though.

Can't help thinking, that when you guys sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" . Brendan will close his eyes and dream he's still at Anfield.
He never wanted to leave us. but hey. I wish him well at Celtic. not too well though, as Rangers are my second team 😀.

His main fault is he refuses to give an honest reflection of any game no matter how badly you perform. Whatever happens is always 'outstanding' including 6-1 losses to Stoke.
He also takes all the credit for anything that goes well in his team.
Plus he has no idea what kind of football he wants to play- if he did he wouldn't have paid £32.5million for Christian Benteke.

He has the ability (and the desire to be seen as a success) to take Celtic to 10 in a row, if he wanted to stick around that long. Having that on his CV would give him a major chubby, and with the resources at his disposal compared to the rest of Scottish football, it's quite possible.

He used to be a workaholic manager who promoted attacking football and did a decent job with our team. However his shortcomings were with transfers, academy players and defending as well as questionable favouring of players.
After our success it all went to his head and rather than improving on his faults, he got worse. The loss at chelsea was the start of his vanity parade. Then came the teeth, the tan, the affairs, the nights on the town. The 'success' of 2nd place went to his head. He didn't improve. He got worse. The football got worse. The teams selections got worse. The mind numbing drivel in interviews got worse and the man management was appalling. He was ignorant to so much going badly it once it drove our fanbase insane.
The way i see it was that, after a promising start, it all went to his head and he felt he was bigger than the club with his management decisions and attitude. Quite frankly i found his behaviour in his final season and a bit unnacceptable and i will not be wishing him the best of luck because i didn't like his sharade. If he can get his head out his arse and get some modesty back i'm sure he will manage to get a decent team going and play some good stuff and win you the title, but that's if he goes back to basics which i'm not sure his ego will allow. I wouldn't be expecting any kind of european advancement, he barely ground out results against ludogorets and got us knocked out by basel so what does that tell you.
Without sounding bitter towards celtic i think he has honestly jumped at the chance at the job because it will be easier than almost any other place for him to win titles and boost his ego - there is little he can do wrong. Unless of course he manages to lose the league to rangers in his first year.

Seriously Celtic be better off hiring Rodgers as PR man rather than coach. He can write 180 pg dossier and come up with ourstanding phrases like 'death by football', doing PR job will suit him to T.

He was rubbish for Liverpool. With the money he had at his disposal he won nothing. He should do well in Scotland tho with no one to challenge.
