Any idea on how long Can is out for?

{Ed001's Note - he is having a fitness test later, he might well be fit to play tonight.}

1.) 14 Dec 2016 13:03:18
Fair enough.

Thanks ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome Nicky.}

2.) 14 Dec 2016 15:26:45
Good news on Emre. Is it a simular thing with lovren ed?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

05 Dec 2016 21:35:59
Matip recovered for West Ham this weekend?

Hope so.

01 Jul 2016 19:49:36
Quick question for Ed002 if I may.

Reports showing Palace are showing an interest in Benteke and Liverpool looking at a significant fee for him.

Is their interest due to the fact they have more money to spend as a result of the new TV revenue?

{Ed002's Note - No, their interest will be because they see that the player can improve their side.}

1.) 01 Jul 2016 23:44:03
Can u see us getting the 30mill we are holding out for Ed002? . Or will we get 28 or something. I thought 25 was good.

{Ed002's Note - I would not get too wrapped up in the money McD.}

2.) 02 Jul 2016 06:08:02
Sure thing Ed 2, of course they see Benteke as an option to improve their squad, hence the bid.

I just thought that it was significant as I've never seen the likes of say Palace bid that amount for a player, especially when you factor in all the additional costs, agents fees, VAT on these fees, potential relocation costs etc etc,

Having said that, I think I read below that Palace have backing from the US so that may have answered my question.

3.) 02 Jul 2016 09:53:54
Money is clearly not an issue for Palace as they had no problem splashing 33m on a bid for Batshuayi. I think the deal will go through especially because he wants the move and we don't wanna keep him.

4.) 03 Jul 2016 04:05:09
obviously it's because of the TV deal. no idea why Ed 02 disagreed with that comment. i don't think they can afford to bid that much with out it.

{Ed001's Note - because you are wrong. They could not afford to spend that much because of the TV deal. Why do ignorant people argue when it is clear they have no idea what they are talking about? Palace were taken over recently by an extremely well-financed group who are pumping money in. That is why they can afford it, not because of the TV money, which they have not received yet anyway.}

5.) 03 Jul 2016 07:34:25
Spot on, Ed. They are financial backers from the States if I'm correct. If not, you may correct me.

{Ed001's Note - correct, they are an American consortium.}

Hello all, Eds and Reds

Not sure how many carp anglers there are on here, I am one myself and go to France a couple of times a year fishing.

A complex where we go is called Dream Lakes and a friend of mine is there at the moment.

He is fishing with his son and two swims along is young Brannigan. They have been talking and have had a brew together. Brannigan has also had a kick about with my friends son which is really great.

Being a big LFC fan, my mate text me and sent in photos, he said Brannigan is so down to earth.

I did ask him if he knew anything regarding Couthino and he reckons he will stay with us. Interestingly enough, Brannigan has also been approached by Barcelona!

I don't very often start posts but thought this was quite interesting and the fact he's be playing footie on the bank with my mates son. I think it's brilliant.

1.) 29 May 2016 17:02:09
Isn't he was wanted by Barcelona years ago?

2.) 29 May 2016 17:39:55
Recently as well matey.

3.) 29 May 2016 19:01:32
He has been on Barcelona's radar for while and they have been watching his contract negotiations as recently as the last several weeks.

4.) 29 May 2016 19:40:35
Thank you Scouse for reiterating that.

5.) 29 May 2016 23:21:07
Brannigan got back from USA and over to france quickly then.

6.) 29 May 2016 23:44:08
You're welcome mate.

7.) 30 May 2016 06:35:45
Why on earth would I make something like this up Hoola? Just check back on my posting history and you will find It's not in my nature whatsoever. He's there, in France, Carp angling.

It's a shame I can't post pictures my mate sent me a lovely photo of Brannigan signing his young son's Liverpool shirt.

{Ed001's Note - you can post up pics on here. Message on the contact form (at the bottom of the page) to get Ed033 to pull his finger out and put up the link again!}

8.) 30 May 2016 06:49:39
I will do that Ed 1.

{Ed001's Note - cheers.}

9.) 30 May 2016 09:32:45
All sounds a bit fishy to me.

10.) 30 May 2016 10:21:36
I think you're just reeling us in.

11.) 30 May 2016 10:53:48
What a load of carp.

12.) 30 May 2016 11:19:10
Surprised it's take so long for the fishy jokes.

To be fair, I'm quite disappointed. I've met a good number of LFC players both past and present but none of the younger crop of players.

I used to go the the same complex in France twice a year and would have been there myself but for having to cut back on expenditure. I now have a two year old lad so the cost of my LFC season ticket and 2 trips to France each year was getting a bit much.

13.) 30 May 2016 17:51:54
For hooks hake 😠.

01 Jan 2016 19:33:32
Looks like Hendo hasn't travelled to the Capital, hope he's not out for too long.

Studge hasn't travelled either.

1.) 01 Jan 2016 20:37:56
Lucas and Can in the middle then.

2.) 01 Jan 2016 22:54:17
The capital? Is he going to kill snow?

3.) 02 Jan 2016 10:47:44
Something like that Fency, or maybe he's building an igloo?

4.) 02 Jan 2016 12:28:57
I don't think Nicky got the 'hunger games' reference.

Reports saying Couthino is in contract talks with the club.
Ed002, do you think there I'll be a release clause inserted if he signs a new deal with Liverpool

{Ed002's Note - To what end? Why? Who would it apply to.}

21 Jan 2017 17:26:50
Not good today lads but let's not forget, our first defeat at Anfield for a year. Not had going.

Not quite sure why Klopp didn't start Matip from the off, for me, it would have been the perfect game to ease him back. What do you reckon Ed1?

03 Jan 2017 07:53:56
I felt we did enough to win the game yesterday, their keeper made a couple of decent saves to keep out Sturridge in particular.

Having said that, you can really see the difference when Henderson is out of the team, Emre Can did ok but was off the pace IMO.

I also felt at times, Klavan and Lovren struggled with Defoe and Januzaj, especially Defoe'a pace, he should have scored when he split right through our defence.

I really hope Matip is back for the United game as they have pace in their team and they'll be sending in diagonal balls for Zlatan to knock down into the path of those runners ( the likes of Rashford ) something we failed to deal with at times yesterday.

We are still second though, if you'd have offered me that at the start of the season I'd have taken it all day long. It's just a shame we couldn't quite get the three points yesterday and I'm sure we will encounter a few more set backs between now and May.

Come on you Spurs tonight! 😎😎😎.

1.) 03 Jan 2017 09:31:02
Looking forward, Klavan and Lovren should fare far better against Ibra than they did Defoe and Borini, which tells its own story, but Mkhitaryan could cause us real problems without Hendo. Doesn't happen very often, thankfully, but it was a bad day at the office by Klopp yesterday.

2.) 03 Jan 2017 10:15:13
Spurs play Chelski tomorrow Nicky.

3.) 03 Jan 2017 13:53:20
I fully expect Chelsea to beat spurs and pull away even further, we need to make sure we stay in the top 4.

4.) 03 Jan 2017 14:57:42
Keep the faith boys as Nicky said. Yesterday was always going to be tough regardless so I`m not surprised about the difficulties we faced. Sunderland had the same issue but they were at home so they had the fans to spur them on. Either way, nothing has been won nor lost yet especially with half a season to go. Just keep our heads down and focus on the next game and let the media do their thing cos frankly, that`s their job.

31 Dec 2016 10:38:45
Happy New Year Eds and fellow Reds!

{Ed001's Note - HNY to you too Nicky and everyone else on here. May it be a blessed year that brings us all much happiness and joy.}

1.) 31 Dec 2016 11:14:46
Cheers to that ed. all the best to everyone for 2017. 2016 has been great to me, got married to my best friend, had an amazing honeymoon and to top it all liverpool have got their act together and are giving us something to believe in. Thanks for all the hard work guys, let's hope we finish it off in style tonight. Happy new year all.

{Ed001's Note - congratulations mate, I hope 2017 is even better for you.}

29 Dec 2016 08:34:08
Morning Ed oo2 if you are around.

Pick your brains if I may. Sky Sports ( on their site ) has given a break down of clubs expenditure on players for 2016, both ins and outs in some cases, listing which club's have spent the most to the least.

Would those at "Sky" have access to the Transfer/ International Transfer matching system in order to obtain accurate numbers, once all the add on fees and costs were added to the initial cost of the players?

{Ed002's Note - Yes they have access but without knowing what figures they have quoted I don't know if they have added taxes and correctly dealt with exchange rates. In all honesty, I doubt they took too much effort in terms of absolute accuracy, and for their audience it really doesn't matter.}

1.) 29 Dec 2016 09:06:19
Thanks ed002.

So as an example for club wise ( 2016 in total ) they quote Liverpool spent £75m and recouping £84.4, Chelsea £122.7

An example player wise, United spent £93.25 m on Pogba, Man City £50m on Stones.

To me, I don't think the relevant taxes and exchange rates have been taken into consideration.

{Ed002's Note - They have excluded a number of things such as tax, agent fees etc.. As you say it would need to be checked how they have dealt with exchange rates. Probably an intern with access to Wikipedia. Just ignore it.}

2.) 29 Dec 2016 09:37:15
Thank you Ed 002!

3.) 29 Dec 2016 10:28:54
Thanks for all the info ed002 two questions if I may:

Is there a way to get the expenditure information you provide for clubs to look at regarding transfers (like do they have to provide public access for it) as I think it would interesting to go through.

Secondly, is there a way to find out the ROI a club gets on a player in strictly financial terms? E. g. United spent a lot on Pogba but imagine from shirt sales and endorsements they can recoup a fair amount?

Thanks in advance and for the site!

{Ed002's Note - The public do not have access to the TMS. The clubs do not have a RoI on players and I have explained before about shirt sales.}

£50m? You for real Ed25.

Pogba £89m, John Stones £50m.

You've cheered me up no end with that comment Ed25 😜😜😜

I read that somewhere too. Let's hope it's not true as Lovern and Klavan were woeful against Southampton.

As brilliant as Milner has been I still think ultimately we will need a left but for me a really food centre half.

Don't get me wrong, we have Matip ( brilliant) and both Lovren and Klavan were great on Monday night but our biggest weakness again this season has been the defence.

Once solution is young Gomez I suppose, who I thought was fantastic before his injury but is he ready yet? I don't think so.

We need with more width, pace and at least try to best an opposition player!

It's far too easy for the opppsing side when all we do is pass the ball from side to side then try and thread the ball through the eye of a needle. We need to mix up the play and be more direct with our forward running, forcing defenders to turn.

Maybe a change of tactic ( at stages ) by sitting off the opposing team by 5-10 yards and invite them on might just give them something else to think about.

It's lovely when they happens Wexford.
I'm very much into my Carp fishing and go to France a couple of times a year ( for a week at a time ) with a good friend of mine.

Last year, Cameron Brannigan was fishig the same complex ( in France ) as my friend and his son. They ended up getting chatting and pretty much spent the week having a kick about on the bank, chatting LFC and he signed his shirt.

They are now friends on Facebook and keep in touch. it's great stuff.

By the way, I used to supply menswear to B Corcoran's in Wexford ( assuming that's where you are from ) visitors the town a number of towns, lovely place!

The son in law to the owner of the shop is a big LFac fan too!

I really think they'll throw the kitchen sink at us from the off, try to get an early goal, then park up and try to hit us on the break as we push forward.

Sorry guys, China is just the next level in this crazy football world.

To me, the game sold its soul to the devil as soon as Rupert Murdoch got his horrible claws into the game, Sky TV.

Not forgetting the birth of the Premier League. All about money money money. It's no suprise football is where it's at now.

It won't be long before we have to set timers on our watches +8hrs in order to watch our teams.
