Ed001 I was just wondering if you have heard from anything from someone in around the club about klopps and the clubs thoughts on benteke. I've heard so many opinions from pundits mates people on here etc. But bar a few words after games and the likes haven't really heard anything overly positive or negative towards him from the club.
Or anyone else that has an insight please share! Squaretomatoe if you're about try even get Gomez' opinion! Haven't heard anything about him in a while back either so hopefully his recovery is going well!

{Ed001's Note - he dropped him for big games, that is all you need to know of what he thinks about him. Benteke needs to convince him that he is the right man to lead the line, but he is not doing so.}

I was more along the lines of he was still coming back to fitness and was easing him back. I still remain hopeful though as I really think with a solid run of games he could really hit form shame that at the mo is every game is quite vital.

{Ed001's Note - he was fit but left out.}

I said last season befor we signed benteke he's not what we need and didn't see why we wanted him and everyone told me he's amazing. No doubt he's got something but for me he doesn't fit us. i would rather see ings up top. I wouldn't mind benteke coming good as it means for once we haven't waisted loads of money but he just doesn't fit into how we play.

I'd say it was more his attitude than his ability to fit in. just my opinion of what I have seen so far from him.

He still has a place. Great impact sub, and he should have more use in a games where we have more possession and not much space. Firmino or Sturridge are definitely the better choice in bigger games.

From a purely "our style of play", Ings and Origi are better any day of the week (Sturridge included, when he's willing to play) . Not slating Benteke, but just don't see crosses coming in to him for various reasons. And i don't see him scoring goals other than through crosses. He's simply not gelling with Firmino and Lallana.

So 32m for an impact sub . Money well spent again. I don't doubt that in the right team and system he would be a good player I just unfortunately don't think that it is with us . Hope he proves me wrong but he takes away the best qualities of firmino coutinho etc with his lack of movement.

Agree squizza, IMO we mistakenly persevered with big men under Rogers due to him trying to reform the side into a 4-3-3 (Balo, Lambert, Benteke) however what we really needed was a Lacazette, Aubemeyang type player to replace Suarez.

I don't mind having a big man in the squad as a plan B option, but with Sturridge struggling for fitness we need our backup to be able to fit Klopp's high energy system otherwise we'll struggle to find any sort of consistency or style. We need Benteke to adapt quickly.

Ings must be doubly kicking himself. Such a shame he got injured!

Bang on with this post again, Zimbo.

I don't mind Benteke as an impact sub, to mix things up.

But our best attack, is when we keep the ball on the floor, and play it out the back and through the middle; triangles, pressing, counter-pressing.

I'm literally going to jump off a peer if I have to read another opinion piece from some 1980s era player claiming we need to "service" Benteke and "play to his strengths" by crossing in balls from out wide.

May as well sell Coutinho now, and get it over with.

If you look it up, there are videos of Benteke showing great movement, so I think he is capable. When we bought him there were no established, seasoned strikers available, really. Lots of teams had issues in signing strikers. Look at United paying over the odds for Martial - maybe that will work out better for them than Benteke will for us but at the time we all had a good laugh.

We all know how we struggled last season without enough goal scorers, and how players like Sterling were slotted in to play that role. I think Benteke was a gamble that may or may not yet pay off.

In the lead up to him signing, there were voices of dissent, and concern chiefly over his motivation and disinclination to run. Watching him now, he looks out of his depth in some ways, but that may be because the fast paced style requiring him to run doesn't suit him. That said there have been some great moments and some cracking goals.

Maybe he will adjust, maybe we will take a £15m loss when he moves on. Time will tell. Like many on here, I am hoping for the best but am reserving judgement.

This whole idea of "impact sub that offers something different" never works and doesn't exist. What people seem to fail to realise is that if you purchase and play a striker that does not fit in with the already established system, ie pressing counter attacking, then that means your are going to have to run training sessions throughout the week to inform the team how you want them to play when one individual player is introduced. This means trying to coach a team on two completely different systems week in week out which just doesn't work.

There are other nock on effects as well as you've also got to buy other enabling players to incorporate that individual striker, ie traditional wingers to cross (we only have Ibe) . Just lumping on benteke into a 4-3-3 with either lallana, Coutinhou, firmino, sturridge or Ings wouldn't work as there would be no service. This is exactly what we're seeing now, what we saw with lambert and also carrol.

Its good to have different options but these need to be able to play in the already established system. Having a striker that requires a completely different set up and system just doesn't work and never will!

A few years ago we were moaning that we could it mix it up, now we have that options we are moaning again. I didn't just say he was in impact sub, but we can't always break down teams that sit deep and try and hit us on the counter, benteke would be a better option for these games than firmino up front.

Benteke has a goal record of one in 2.
An incredible record, but, as I mentioned before he signed, he will probably score you 5 goals in 2 games and then go 8 games without a goal and without really looking a threat.
Looks like he is still repeating the same trick at LFC.

Does anyone have an idea about what will happen with Balotelli? Will we sell at the end of his loan or will Klopp want to check him out?
Under Klopp he may better or not, I know he has attitude problems etc and I am not saying I want him back or not - it is simply a fact we still own him.
Eds do you know anything about the plans for him?

{Ed001's Note - he is up for sale.}

Ed what's your opinion on ings, providing he comes back from the injury as the same player so to speak, would you see him as the main striker, personally I think he will be great for us.

{Ed001's Note - not main no. Works hard, was growing into the team but he is not that top class striker like Sturridge is.}
